- Today I want to show you all a very cheap and easy modification for your Savi's Workshop lightsaber from Galaxy's Edge, this tutorial shows how I can take a $4 Glue gun and $4 worth of glue sticks and make a new blade with a cool unstable look to it!

This has inspired me to try this on a clear overhead projector sheet so I can make it a sleeve and put it on a neopixel blade. May experiment with wrinkles in the sheet for added unstable blade look

Crimson Dawn are pretty good lgt sellers. I like my baselit lightsaber for dueling I got from them.
This is gonna add a whole new layer to customization
it's super simple to do and I demonstrate how I do it and I customize a whole blade top to bottom in 18 minutes

I think one thing that would possibly make the detail pop out a little bit would maybe have a small black ink-wash over the glue. For this you can probably use black shoe polish, (maybe water it down a small bit more or water down black paint with water) and take a paper towel and wipe it off the raised areas leaving the paint in the recessed areas.
I may give this a try, I'd have to go to my office at work to get it, and I only have the one blade.

Yeah using that smaller glue gun made me feel better since it’s a lower temp overall as opposed to the larger guns that get bottler to melt thicker glue sticks. But glue guns vary. Either way I knew it wouldn’t be too hot to damage anything and should, in theory, peel right off. Good thing I was right. 😅

Awesome video! Hot glue is the DIY king! I made some zabrak horns out of hot glue recently. I just filled a small dixie cup with some sand, dug out an upside down pyramid/horn shape and filled the cavity with hot glue. Once it cooled, I washed off the sand and, several coats of paint later I had me some Darth Maul-esq horns! Easy peasy lemon squeezy! They're light enough to be applied with liquid latex or spirit gum!

I don't own any Kylo Ren Sabers that would work with this, but if for some reason I get ahold of one in the future I'd definitely give it a try.

I think if I did this I would put some Saran wrap on before doing that in hopes that it would end up creating a sleeve so it can be take on and off without redoing it every time.
use thin point permanent marker, trace an outline of the end of the emitter! keep up the good work!

You could use clear silicone caulk/glue
Yeah but that’s really messy and sometimes I’ve seen that it permanently bonds to the blade. So no do overs. At least the hot glue can peel off relatively easily

I love this! if it were my blade i would have gone over it with a 330 grit sandpaper after the glue is on so that there arent any little strings hanging off of it. The white looks like an icicle! Did i hear somewhere that you are going to weather your savis lightsaber or is that just in my imagination? Anyways it looks great Dan-o and thank you for sharing!
Thanks Spectre Customs. I luckily didn’t have much stringing but taking a lighter to it really quick will also cure the stringing/spider webbing. I don’t have plans to weather my Savi’s saber quite yet… this weekend if I’m under budget(which never happens, ever 😅) I may purchase some loose scrap metal from Savi’s and try.
Is there a way I could put a resistor in the blade to get that flickering look?
also Isopropyl alcohol removes hot glue just apply carefully.

I wonder if you can do the same to saber forge brand light saber blade? Because after seeing how you did it it makes me think about doing the same once I buy my light saber from saber forge, especially the cross guard light saber known as the relic, except I’m trying to get a white or silver blade for my light saber.

Rubbing alcohol will also take off the hot glue
I'm still debating whether or not I should do this with my ultrasabers lightsaber cuz I'm not sure if it would work differently with the ultra sabers blade than the savi's blade so I just wanted to know your thoughts
Yeah that should work exactly the same. Ultrasabers uses polycarbonate plastic too

@@Dan-O yeah it is but my hot glue gun has a stand on it that folds out from the front and I had it folded out and I got a a bunch of Nics on the blade
can i make it with my kylo ren elite force fx blade? because im afraid of any damage
Yes you can, the savis blades are pretty much the same as the kylo ren fx blade.
Does the hot glue damage the blade because of the heat ?
No
I am unsure I will make it to galaxy's edge in time I have serious hear issues and am thinking about paying
for someone to make the saber for me on ebay just really unsure

Someone missed the point about it being less than $10 for this simple mod. Not everybody wants to drop big dough on a neopixel saber. I don’t. 🤷🏽♂️

Yup and if you don’t like the results you can just peel it off and it’s back to normal with no damage done. So it’s 0 risk to try this.
