      @LiquidGold_Productions 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PikaveeT You could achieve this by cutting the blade in half painting the inside black, till it lets no light through and then removing the paint only where you want the light to show through, test it, and glue it back together, would be a lot of effort and you would likely only get the desired affect from one side/angle, but nothing is impossible :) i think an Ultraviolet blade would be cooler though hahahah

    • @PikaveeT

      In the animation, they used a process to light up the black in the darksaber. Painting the inside black would not glow, just make a useless blade.

      Jose Bermudez haha thank you for that. The tip doesn’t light up. But it didn’t light up before either, with the beam of light instead of LEDs. I think there’s a reflective thing under the tip that is supposed to reflect light back downwards instead of letting it leak through the top.

    • @technomax6868

      Well neopixel consists of the leds inside of the blade while galaxy’s edge(rgb) is made of basically a flashlight.

  • @VynylFantasy

      @@Knilaros The Luke legacy saber has 2 emitters. One for display and one for a blade. When you unscrew the hilt to change the emitters it has a Neopixel kind of ring adapter inside where the blade emitter will connect. When I saw that I got curious to know what happen if I put my Neopixel blade on it. It's not the pin connectors but the 3 ring connector like on blades so it was not easy to connect them together. I used little cables to connect the rings. The hilt did the sound it does when you connect a blade but all I could get was 1 pixel lighting up very dimly and it was white. My Neopixel blade has a resistor at the base so maybe that blocks power and doesn't allow it to light up all the way but most likely it has to do with the blade not receiving data for all the pixels so only the first one light up. I really think you would need to do a whole swap of the board and battery in order to have proper Neopixel work but I think it would be a cool concept.

    Great video quality, you’re killing it man. I don’t own any saberforge blades but I want to make sure I’m understanding this mid correctly, are you swapping the Disney plastic for thicker plastic/polycarbonate blade? Are there other differences I missed? I understand that for combat a thicker grade/gauge(?) of material is going to be better but are there any other benefits or even cons to doing this mod?

    • @StarWarsIRL

      The Dan-O Channel I think you’ve nailed it! The Saberforge is a stronger polycarbonate blade. The downside is that because this new blade is thicker, and light has to pass through more material, it doesn’t appear as bright as it did with its original Disney blade!

    Are you gonna do a light comparison? Like with the Saberforge blade, are you getting the same amount of brightness?

    • @StarWarsIRL
      @StarWarsIRL  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Parker Pattillo it’s really tricky to do that in a video because cameras are so sensitive to that kind of light, but I can tell you right now that I don’t think it’s as bright as it was in the Disney blade. That’s because The Disney blade is perfectly clear, while the saber forge blade is a “cloudy“ plastic. It’s not completely transparent. So some of the brightness might’ve been lost there. It could also mean that the batteries are running low on my Disney hilt. I haven’t charged that thing once since I’ve gotten it, so who knows! But others have suggested looking into a neo pixel blade which are supposed to be much brighter! So I might give that a shot!

    I was relieved to see the hilt survived your tests. Blades are much more easily replaced then hilts, and say this much for Disney's design team, the "removable blade" feature is going to become mandatory in the next generation of Custom Sabers. Raising everybody's game! I guess the ultimate test will be when someone makes a saber from scratch that works with a Disney Kyber Crystal. You know that's coming!
    Question, are you in a Saber Dueling League?? Another question - we've got Peace and Justice, Security and Defense, Power and Control and Elemental Nature. If Disney asked YOU to suggest a fifth theme for a saber build, what would you suggest?

    I've seen other videos where the reviewer has mentioned that Savi's Workshop blades aren't as bright as those of third-party Lightsaber manufacturers.
    So I'm wondering do better batteries make a difference to how bright the Savi's blades are?
    Or is it a case of considering switching out the LEDs? It would help if we knew exactly what these LEDs are.

    • @StarWarsIRL
      @StarWarsIRL  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Batteries shouldn’t make a difference in the brightness because LEDs require so little power. But I’m not sure what makes some LEDs brighter than others

    • @garygcrook
      @garygcrook 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@StarWarsIRL It depends on the quality of LED, what they're made from, how well they're made, how efficient they are, the voltage and ampage they're rated for.
      More expensive ones could be more efficient, producing more light at the same power level as cheaper ones.
      Plus if they're well made they're usually more durable and able to take more power.
      Another thing is what power, voltage & ampage they're rated for, which you'll probably have to look up if you can find their product number.
      It is possible that for safety the Savi Lightsaber reduces the power so as not to burn out the LEDs, so changing them and any resistors connected to them could give you brighter blade. Though this is speculation on my part.

      Right?! Lol. No it’s gotta be a black-colored blade with white light outlining the black because light can’t be black. The Darksaber is a perfect example of this.

      It's impossible to have black light

    I wonder if the Saberforge have the option of custom order for Disney hilt compatible.

    You should do this with a crackle or lightning blade!!

    Good job but what’s the point if you don’t upgrade the plastic inside of the saber? It’s good break with the first real good hit

    Please educate me, what was the purpose? Looks like u just exchanged the plastic blade housings? Is the non-Disney one more durable or provide a better effect?

    • @StarWarsIRL
      @StarWarsIRL  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The non-disney (Saberforge) one is a way stronger plastic. I did another video about durability that showed what happens when you put Disney up against Saberforge!

    If you put a pice of cloth/leather in the vise grip you won’t have any risk of scratching your blade

    Has anyone tried to shorten a legacy blade to Savi's length? Can the LEDs be simply cut off the end of the strip?
