Brian May wrote We Will rock You. Freddie wrote We Are the Champions. They were usually performed back to back during their concerts. Freddie had incredible breath control. He could run across the stage, up a flight of steps and across platforms, all the while singing in perfect pitch and perfect breath control. Considered the greatest front man.

They were usually played back to back on radio as well, not always.

This is from the 1981 Montreal concert. It was filmed during two concerts to be released as a movie. The film makers want the band to wear the same clothes each night to make editing easier. However, they made Freddie mad the first night so he completely changed all his clothing choices the second. I have read the the second night is laughingly called Freddie's strip tease because he kept changing into fewer and fewer clothes. He is wearing white tennis shorts here. These were the fashion of the time.
You just watched 2 songs, We Will Rock You, and We Are The Champions. They are usually played together.

This is one of Queen's amazing anthems. This one was written by Brian May. Just a word to the wise...NEVER pause during a Brian May guitar solo, the Queen Army will get all over you like a nasty rash. If you do feel the need to pause, back it up and start it again after you say what you have to say. Queen does We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions together at their concerts.

I'm watching now and think I'm going to faint from you stopping Bri's solo. Freddie doesn't "share the stage" because each band member is a crucial part of the whole. Each of them stands equally and Freddie would be the first to tell you that.
Edit: No vocal coach. None of them has any voice training. Brian (guitar) and Roger (drums) have incredible voices themselves. You can hear Roger's high notes in the songs. They both also have solo albums. Freddie was the only one who had any music training and that was on the piano for a couple of years as a child. After that, he was self-taught, as were the other three. Must mention John here, too. His bass... so fantastic and he was incredibly clever with his creations.
REALLY, if you are going to pause mid-song, you _must_ back it up so the entire phrase is played/sung. We Queenies are picky MFers... we want to hear everything. Every time. Have fun and I hope you fall in love like we have!

I'll start off with I'm old enough to remember when Queen released this back in 1977/78. I always heard both songs played together on the radio as a set. I remember being at the our high school basketball games doing the "stomp stomp clap clap" and singing We Are The Champions.

We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions are _always_ sung, performed, heard back-to-back. They were released on the A and B side of a 45 back in the day. They are the back-to-back opening songs, tracks 1 and 2, on the "News of the World" album from 1977. For those of us of a certain age, they are never separate songs in our heads. But they are 2 different songs, yes.

Probably the most recognizable “one-two punch” for stadium anthems!! To get the sound of the “stomp stomp clap” Brian May stated that Queen recorded it in an abandoned church and used the discarded lumber lying around to get the stomping feet effect. Add multi-layers … “wahla”. Thank you for your reaction!!

He is completely self taught. You can see as the years past his vocals became stronger and less falsetto. He did do a lot of weight lifting when he had time to prepare for tours. These 2 songs were at the end of a 2 hour performance. After their last tour in 1986 he said he could not do it anymore. The truth was he knew he was sick. So they just did studio recordings. He continued to give it his all until he could not sing anymore. Music kept him alive and the reason to go on.

Freddie was a funny guy with a great sense of humor who was never afraid to say or to do what he wanted. Can you imagine based on his stage presence, that he was a shy and modest guy in his private life? But that was him.

Well now...someone has already told you the story...the reason the production company wanted them to wear the same clothes on both night was to amalgamate them into one for a video...as one person commented “My guy’s a lifeguard and he might go swimming later”...Freddie Mercury...one of a kind🤩

Don't stop reacting to Queen. Us older (I'm 60) fans love it when the younger generation discovers what we know about Freddie Mercury, and Queen in general. I'm sure you will recognize "Another one bites the Dust". Include Don't Stop Me Now, Crazy Little Thing Call Love, Save Me, You're my Best Friend, the studio version of Somebody to Love, Killer Queen, My Melancholy Blues, Radio Ga Ga, and Innuendo, and you would hit more of my favorites! As for other videos, You can react to USA for Africa, We are World, which is filled with many iconic performers. From their you can react to everyone in that video. Also add some BeeGees, especially their song "Too Much Heaven".

    HEY HON,
    AWESOME REACTION!
    PIECE OF HELPFUL ADVICE:
On the heading AND tags for this reaction, you should ADD:
    “We Are The Champions”
(That it’s a reaction to BOTH songs)
For SURE, that will grab the attention of Queen fans to stop and watch!
(Personally, I don’t usually even stop/watch reactions to only “We Will Rock You” if “We Are The Champions” isn’t accompanying it.)🖖
P.S. Freddie was COMPLETELY SELF-TAUGHT… and the Absolute Master Of Breath Control!😁

We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions are two different songs. At the Wimbledon Concert they performed them one right after the other. Perhaps because of the time limit. I really don't know. But it sounded so good they performed it like that at every performance after. BTW- Brian May, the lead guitarist became SIR Brian May a week ago. Roger Taylor, the drummer also had an exceptional voice. John Deacon, bass, left the band. He and Freddie were the closest and decided he couldn't perform without Freddie. Freddie is by far the greatest front man of any band EVER.

Of course, Freddie gets your attention--he's the front man and the best one ever. However, don't discount the rest of the band. Brian May is considered one of the best guitarists of all time. Brian, Roger, John and Freddie all wrote #1 hits--I believe they are the only band to do so. As noted in other comments, Brian wrote "We Will Rock You". On the album version, he actually constructed the "stomp-stomp-clap" based on a series of distances based on prime numbers. Nowadays they have a machine to do that--back then it was Brian's knowledge of physics that prevailed. BTW He has a PHD in Astrophysics so he is "Dr. Brian May" and now he is "Sir" Dr. Brian May having been knighted by King Charles this past week. Hope Roger gets his "Sir" soon!! *Watch how Roger fills out Freddie's vocals at times. Roger is an amazing singer, too. Hope you enjoy your "Queen" journey!

    DUDE!! WTF??
The FIRST rule of reacting to songs is to NEVER EVER pause the video on the guitarists' solo!! ESPECIALLY NOT Sir Dr. Brian May!! The GOAT of guitarists!
What you just played are two songs of Queen that are back to back on the album, so that's the way a lot of radio stations played them in the U.S. The band did a lot of what some people have labeled as 'stadium anthems' since they seem to get recognized at a lot of sports events... also, "Another One Bites the Dust" and "I Want to Break Free" are probably ones you have heard of already...
The rabbit hole is kinda deep on this band, so how about we start out with some early Queen, like "Killer Queen", "White Queen" or one of my favs, "Liar" highlights all of their musical talents, as mentioned, Sir (just newly knighted by King Charles III) Dr. Brian May, the GOAT guitarist, is also an astrophysicist, specializing in space dust for NASA... John Deacon, the bassist extraordinaire is also an electronics master and created and designed the "Deacy Amp", (pretty cool, read up about it) that creates a three echo resonance in the amplifier, Roger Taylor, the drummer, was studying to be a dentist, but then switched to biology..., and Freddie was a designer and graphic artist (I was one also, back in the 70's), who designed his own costumes in Queen's early years and also designed and drew the logo art for the band Queen, the Phoenix, the two lions, for the two Leos in the band, a crab for Cancer and he was the two fairies on the bottom of the logo, for Virgo, the virgins... (Freddie's birthday is one day after mine)....
the BEST band in the history of Rock and Roll is QUEEN and you have LOTS to learn about them and their fans... the best fans in the world!! I should know, I have been one for 50 years!! Dive in, sweetie, I know you will NEVER regret it... see you there... blessings.
