This song was always followed by WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS. Amazing what an influence this British band has had on American culture. Who doesn't know this song or ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST?
On point with your description BJ of Freddy being like the Sun. He was fire, warmed the hearts of everyone and larger than life. On the album, We are the Champions followed directly after this. Awesome reaction Asia and BJ ❤️
@@AsiaandBJ freddie got really drunk during this shooting, even vomitted and you can see the bits on his mouth lol so funny tidbit about them i love it
Brian May (lead guitarist) wrote this specifically for their fans to be able to participate at their concerts. Usually followed by "We Are The Champions" which Freddie wrote. Btw, did you know that our dear Dr. May, besides being a legendary guitarist/songwriter, is also an astrophysicist who has collaborated with NASA, an author, an expert on 3D stereophonic photography AND one of Britain's foremost animal welfare advocates & protector of wildlife? The man is incredible. I finally got to see him perform live just 2 years ago. He's still GREAT & still playing the Red Special, the guitar he & his dad built (from scratch!) in their garage when he was a teenager. He & Roger Taylor (drummer) still sell out arenas when they go on tour & still put on a helluva show!💙☮💙
A neurologist did a study on happy songs. He determined “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen was the happiest song ever. Please react to it! Maybe do the 10 happiest songs. It’s a fun list. 🥳
I substituted for an elementary music teacher one day in the early 1990's, which meant singing acapella. I told the third-graders, "I think you know this one," and did the double stomp. They not only knew when to clap, THEY KNEW THE WORDS.
My mom and uncle took me to see Queen in 1980 when I was 8. My first concert. I remember the cigarette and pot smoke getting to me and had to go out to the concession stands to get some air where I witnessed people sick and puking. Remember like it was yesterday. Queen and AC/DC were my favorite rock bands at the time.
The members of Queen were genius. They had such an incredible ability to create music for the masses. They understood the energy of arenas and stadiums, and created anthems to match.
Written by Dr Brian May for the fans too have something else they could join in with, as the group heard the fans in the early days in the smaller places stomping to the tunes, and the rest is history, and it's filmed in Roger Taylor back garden, originally no drums so playing it live was slightly harder for Roger with the drum beat, they also recorded Spread Your Wings on the same day in Roger garden, that song was written by John Deacon
Queen is one of the biggest British rock bands formed in 1970. Freddie Mercury had one of the best voices around with an amazing range. He was a real showman as the live concerts show. "Bohemian Rhapsody" is their most famous song but they had so many great hits in the 70's-90's such as "We Are The Champions", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", "Love Of My Life", "You're My Best Friend", "Who Wants to Live Forever", "Somebody To Love", "Fat Bottomed Girls", "The Show Must Go On" etc.
Great reaction to this classic! Freddie said that he felt it odd that the band closed their show with this song (and We are the Champions) after they had been rocking the fans all night so they created a “fast version” which they played to open some of their live shows. You should check out the fast version……it is also great and very high energy.
Freddie will never be forgotten. He is a legend this song is played in statiums all over the world. You should do the show must go on by queen it is heart breaking
7:14 "I think this song was vicariously made"....that is one of the most understanding, understated, and thoughtful choice of a word to describe this song that I have ever heard:)
drummer Roger Taylor had just bought his house, they filmed this in his new garden! They look frozen to pieces, don't they? It's so cold that Freddie is wearing his roadie's old work gloves. You can read RATTY across the knuckles. :)
And as I remember they were broke here because their manager took all their money from the first two albums and that's why they made such a cheap video with some old clothes and gloves, and as they were saying they nearly died of cold😂😂... And the same video for Spread your wings.. And made the song for manager Death on two legs
I saw them in Philly three years in a row, 1975,76,and 77. The Night of the Opera tour in 76 was at the Tower Theater , where I had tickets six rows in front of Freddie’s piano. In 77 Thin Lizzy opened for them at the Philadelphia Civic Center. That concert ranks right behind Live Aid that I attended in 1985. Freddie was the greatest front man that I ever saw and I’ve seen them all.
when songs take on a life of thier own and become iconic legendary tunes that 90% of the world knows..... nothing ever like it since freddie and queen....
Ah, shucks, you paused right when the guitar solo kicked in! This song came out when I was in fourth grade and it didn't take long before every kid in school was banging out that beat on whatever they could get their hands on. Killer! But to get the full effect, you've really got to listen to "We Are The Champions" immediately following because that's how they flow on the album and how the two songs were always played on the radio back when, as if they were two parts of the same song. I remember buying their News of the World album for my little brother back then, because he liked "We Will Rock You" so much. But it wasn't long before I took it back from him because of the other songs on the album that he didn't like at all because he was too young to get them -- "Sheer Heart Attack", "All Dead, All Dead", "Spread Your Wings", "Get Down, Make Love" among them. That last one is rather funky and odd. Check it out when you can.
In a swedish documentary The history of Hitsongs Bryan May tells that he were inspired when liverpool fans in a Queen concert in 1977 Stafford just after Liverpool FC won Europe Cup started singing "You never walk alone" acapella He wanna make a song that make the crowd would sing a long to at concerts It surely worked out well Fun fact is that no one in Queen was very interested in sports still We will rock you is one of the most common songs in lots of sport events
Have you done Killer Queen yet? That was their first hit, at least that I ever heard. And it was so unique at the time, let everyone know that Queen was so unique and so creative and everyone knew they were going to drop many cool songs. You'll love it.
Traditionally this song always precedes "We Are the Champions" So it carries the vibe from "in your face we got stuff to say" competitive vibe to "We win!" The albums, the greatest hits, even the radio stations play these back to back as a 1-2 punch songs. It became a standard to hear them together. Its amazing to consider when these songs were written, they probably never imagined they become anthems played around the world at every single sports venue at all genres, and generations. If I had to guess, We Will Rock You is probably THE most popular and most played song ever recorded. I always envied my dad's story - he saw them in L.A. in like '77 at some venue down the street from Disneyland. He was born and raised in Anaheim so he had access to a lot of events like this.
This song came out when I was in high school, and we had the opportunity to sing the chorus to this song as a student body celebrating back to back to back state basketball championships. Thanks for the walk down memory lane, good times!
This song was always played together with "We Are The Champions". You should watch the "We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions" video...they were really 2 songs in one. "We are the champions my friend, and we`ll keep on fighting till the end..." Can`t have one without the other! They are like a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup!
Yes!!! That is a must!!! They flow so well together...and the live versions to see how empowered the crowd is by music is incredible. They will get to it hopefully!
I saw Queen 9 times in concert and they were absolutely amazing live! Freddie Mercury could command an audience like no other and the energy he brought was second to none.
Queen gets hella respect from metal fans. Freddie's voice is so strong, iconic and a huge part of rock history. I, being a straight white "toxic" male, Will admit that whenever I hear Queen I get choked up. Sad that he is gone, happy that he shared his talent with us.
Thankyou darlings!!! So exited to see some Queen again. Love the vid 🔥 so high energy song and just filmed in the snow at Roger’s backyard 😂 They were freezing their butts off. I suggest Who wants to live forever live at Budapest. Hope to see more Queen. 👑 Much bless to you both ❤️

To be fair I was in the same boat as you two. Back in 1990!!! I was like 15. I grew up hearing 80's music and 90's was new stuff. Like you I've heard this song stomped too at sports games and especially HS rallys. It wasn't until a friend of mine in H.S. started exposing me to "classic rock" on his favorite radio station did I learn about the group behind this song. I'm surprised another 30 years later people are still reliving music discoveries like this. To put it in perspective that'd be like me back in H.S. (90's) listening to songs from like the friggin 30's and 40's. lmao. It blows my mind that the 60's to today are still weaved into movies and american culture as classic hits instead of just being forgotten and moving on with the stuff made in the last 20 years. Which imo I'm not all that impressed with as a whole.
It's so amazing watching the reactions of people discovering queen. They were the best rock group of their time and still stand head and shoulders above all rock groups today. Please check out the film highlander they did the soundtrack then react to who wants to live forever. Just get the hankies ready. Thanks

I am 73 & I STILL have them on my playlist!!!
Some of Freddie's lyrics, when you listen to them, can be savage. His song "Death on two legs" absolutely eviscerates the subject of the song because Freddy always put his emotions into his songs and pulled no punches. Many of the bands songs were written by the other members, notably Brian May and John Taylor, but Freddies were the ones that to me were raw emotion.
One of my top 3 live bands. Saw them in late 70's on this album tour at the Oakland coliseum arena. Led Zeppelin, AC/DC and Metallica are all right there also.
This song was released as side A with song We are the champions as side B, and these songs were made for crowds to participace. Check we will rock you too
👍🏽 this was the song we entered the football field with. Great seeing teachers and class mates line up and losing their minds to this song as we jogged through their human tunnel. Man that song got us pumped up
I remember also doing this song in the grandstand at our school sports day in the 80’s in Australia with slight change to the lyrics…. “We will beat you!”
Queen was and always will be 4 people, 3 of them sings, Freddie Mercury (song), Brian May (guitar) and Roger Taylor (drums), the other guitarist might sing to, but I have not noticed it. Queen have kept on performing after Freddie died, at times with Adam Lambert and some other singer to, don't remember his name...
They shot this video in the backyard of Roger's new house and it was soooo cold that Freddie got quite drunk trying to warm up. He even threw up in the bushes ;). Roger froze his feet because he was wearing rubber boots. It was pretty torturous but after all these years a pretty funny story. You guys should do more Queen for sure. Save Me, live from Montreal is a stunning song and performance. All of Montreal is pretty great.
Young lady you are beautiful and your energy is off the charts! Fyi...Freddy wrote this as a call and response song to let the fans be IN THE BAND! Gotta love the guy.
I swear to you, I was *just* thinking "I wish Asia and BJ would get back to Queen." And voila! (Now because I'm feeling greedy, please, please, at some point do "Somebody To Love" live, and "One Vision" ... pretty please!)
They already did Somebody to Love, not sure if they've done the live version, I can't remember, many reactors have. What would be REALLY cool would be if Asia & BJ reacted to the making of One Vision documentary, to see how this amazing band worked together when creating a song!!!
@@mikephillips8810 They've done the music video of "Somebody To Love," but not the live version. Agree that the making of "One Vision" documentary would be great. Amazing stuff there. (As long as they did the complete version, not the 7 or so minute partial one floating around.) And of course I am still hoping they do the full Live Aid set -- they did the "Radio Gaga" part, but would live it in its entirety.
Y'all rock for showing the original video !!! I remember seeing on MTV when it first came out . Makes a difference to see something before it goes viral/ famous !
When I was a kid in grade school, in the '70s, we definitely all knew who Queen was! This song was the basketball bleacher anthem -- I'm sure the teachers all thought the stands were going to collapse.
This video was filmed In Freddies back garden at Garden lodge where he died . there are those who still think his ashes are buried somewhere in his garden in a tin . but there is a nearby cemetery. Where is ashes may have been placed Using a different name, but now that name has been removed after fans believed they found the real grave !!
When I was 14yrs old my Pony league baseball team played for the championship game and we won. As we got in the car after the game to go home my dad cranked the engine and this song was just coming on the radio. I had him crank it up! Talk about perfect timing!
Whenever this song was played on the radio it always went right into "We Are The Champions", another great song. It's weird to me hearing this without that one too! haha That one would be a great reaction too!
I'm in my late 40's, and I never knew Queen had a video for this song 😮 Definitely heard this song hundreds of times in my life though. I'd recommend "Don't Stop me Now" from Queen, super catchy and huge radio hit.
Here is a piece of trivia for you. Brian May the Lead Guitarist has a PhD in Astrophysicist which he received in 2007. Freddie Mercury was one of the best singers in Rock. Not to mention one of the best Front Men in Rock. Thank you for your reaction to this song, Asia and BJ.
Even the TV show "Cheers" used this in an opening. It is probably on YT somewhere. I want to hear the story why the bassist is wearing a Chicago Black Hawks leather jacket.
Loving your reactions to Queen! There are so many great songs. The studio versions are great but the live versions are even better! Pick any concert and you will feel like you are there...that's what Queen does! You can select randomly and still get great music from them because they are so professional and give 100% every time! I suggest 'Play the Game' live at Milton Keynes 1982 for one.
👍 I've been really enjoying watching your videos. I like what you both have to say & how thoughtful you are about each song. You genuinely look like your interested & enjoying the music & having fun. When I first came across one of your videos that TH-cam suggested I was a little sceptical about clicking on it because sometimes reaction videos seem like just a novelty watching people react to music that they might not normally listen to. But I'm glad I did. Your fun to watch & seem like you're very open minded to various kinds of music & have intelligent things to say about it. I've been binge watching. It's hard to stop. I keep seeing more great songs. I've become a fan of you both & will definitely subscribe to your channel. 👍🎶
Back in '86 basic training everytime we hopped on a cattle car or were seated on outdoor bleachers we'd always break out into 'We Will Rock You' while stomping our feet as hard as we could to the beat. I wonder if they still do that today.
I wish I'd had taken the opportunity to go watch them in person. My Mum's friend knew the Ferddy Mercury's family, they lived in Zanzibar, where I did as a baby toddler. They like us had to leave, they moved like my Mum's friend's to Wimbledon a outerside suburb of London. We went back to Yorkshire, for a while till we went to Nigeria.
Great song! I also recommend these songs of Queen to you : Princes of the Universe (Highlander Soundtrack) Who wants to live forever (also Highlander) One Year of love (again Highlander 😎) Innuendo I Want To Break Free The Show Must Go On Radio Gaga A Kind of Magic (also in the Highlander soundtrack) Barcelona Livin on my own (Freddie Mercury as solo artist) You don't fool me (Freddie Mercury as solo artist)
You may not be aware that Queen also had a fast version of 'We Will Rock You' that will leave no doubt that that Queen could (and did) rock pretty hard. Search YT for: "Queen - The Hero/We Will Rock You (fast version) Live at the Bowl 1982" for an excellent version.
I went to see WE WILL ROCK YOU the Musical in London and i was 3/4 weeks too early to see Dr. May coming out of the stage and playing live, i was Gutted. Absolutely PHENOMENAL show though.
Didn't even need any music! Just stomp stomp clack and Freddie banging out the lyrics... Freddie had an aura about him...everyone who knew him said it. They knew when Freddie was in the room. When I watch Queen in anything, Freddie is all I can watch, his mannerisms, his moves, his sense of humour, his energy, his charisma...just everything.
My cousin is about 3 years older than me, and I remember the day he had me listen to this song for the first time. Back then all we could do is sit around the radio and wait for the DJ to play the song we were waiting to hear. He told me that it was the best rock song he'd ever heard. Sitting you're listening to your comments before the video, I'm reminded of the debate my cousin and I had about the band. Did they call themselves Queen, because of the Queen of England, or did have something to do with being gay? At the time we didn't know, that Freddie Mercury was gay, and I decided it was a reference to the Queen of England.
This song was always followed by WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS. Amazing what an influence this British band has had on American culture. Who doesn't know this song or ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST?

It's so amazing watching the reactions of people discovering queen. They were the best rock group of their time and still stand head and shoulders above all rock groups today. Please check out the film highlander they did the soundtrack then react to who wants to live forever. Just get the hankies ready. Thanks
I am an ex Broadway/MGM musicals [50-70's] - Folk song[50's-60's] - Motown[60-70's] - hippie-[60's]/biker[70's] - Southern Rock[80's] - Contemporary Christian [80-00's] - Country Western[70-90's] boot scooter who now listens to mostly Baroque Classical & Waylon Jennings ~~ Queen is STILL my favorite band!!!
I saw Queen in 1976 in Columbus Ohio on their Night At The Opera tour. It was Fantastic from the 15th row...I was 16 yrs old.
Love QUEEN! Seen them many times in the US and also the UK and twice with Freddie. Still go to the US Queen Convention every year, too!
Young lady you are beautiful and your energy is off the charts!
Fyi...Freddy wrote this as a call and response song to let the fans be IN THE BAND!
Gotta love the guy.
No flashy costumes no fancy stage or effects, just pure raw talent
Gib bless you freddie
Yeah Queen did 3 sports stadium epics:
We will rock you
We are the Champions
Another one bites the dust
I swear to you, I was *just* thinking "I wish Asia and BJ would get back to Queen." And voila! (Now because I'm feeling greedy, please, please, at some point do "Somebody To Love" live, and "One Vision" ... pretty please!)
@@surlechapeau Yes, I've seen that one -- more than once. Which is why I asked for it live.
Every Highschool had this going during the basketball game! The bleachers went crazy (I graduated in 94)
This track was used at the start of the Film "A Knights Tale", by Geoffery Chaucer for the Knights Tournament to great effect!! With Heath Ledger.
Y'all rock for showing the original video !!! I remember seeing on MTV when it first came out . Makes a difference to see something before it goes viral/ famous !
This song is worth watching the concert version. Like you said it gets the crowd going.
Freddie knew this was an stadium crowd song ..he was playing Kings n Queen's . he knew sumthin
Whenever this song was played on the radio it always went right into "We Are The Champions", another great song. It's weird to me hearing this without that one too! haha That one would be a great reaction too!
I'm in my late 40's, and I never knew Queen had a video for this song 😮
Definitely heard this song hundreds of times in my life though.
It is impossible to not have these words in your head when the last stomp has been hit: "I've paid my dues, time after time..."
Played at every sports arena across America back in the day.
Growing in the 80's was awesome time to grow up
Growing up during this time was a blessing! The best music
I also envy everýone that got to see Queen live. It's so insane to me that some people actually saw Freddie in real life...
Great reaction. You guys should check out Queen's section of live aid it's amazing. Freddie knows how to play to the crowd.
Back in '86 basic training everytime we hopped on a cattle car or were seated on outdoor bleachers we'd always break out into 'We Will Rock You' while stomping our feet as hard as we could to the beat. I wonder if they still do that today.
Im new to this channel and I'm loving that you guys react to a wide variety of music!!
Opening track from 'News Of The World ' (2 albums after Bo Rhap) and goes straight into We Are The Champions
Yes, he was the man! Loved to watch him strut as well.
The outside companion to this song is SPREAD YOUR WINGS - underrated story in a song worthy of a listen.
Iconic song and the greatest song ever written for the world of sports.
Try “We Will Rock You (Fast Version)” live at Montreal ‘81 ! It’s so different and yet still freaking AWESOME.
Usually this song transitioned to We Are The Champions when performing live. Really cool chit.
Back in the day, on the radio 📻, this was always followed by We Are the Champions.
Great song! I also recommend these songs of Queen to you :
Princes of the Universe (Highlander Soundtrack)
Who wants to live forever (also Highlander)
One Year of love (again Highlander 😎)
Innuendo
I Want To Break Free
The Show Must Go On
Radio Gaga
A Kind of Magic (also in the Highlander soundtrack)
Barcelona
Livin on my own (Freddie Mercury as solo artist)
You don't fool me (Freddie Mercury as solo artist)
Imaging an army platoon marching to thisinadence, it was crazy. We also sang yellow bird, the dark version.
Love how you can hear Brian’s guitar starting up. Normally is played with We are the Champions.
Now you have to do “We Are The Champions”. On Queens album they played the two songs back to back😉
My favority rock band ever and forever!
A really high energy song. Love it!
I went to see WE WILL ROCK YOU the Musical in London and i was 3/4 weeks too early to see Dr. May coming out of the stage and playing live, i was Gutted. Absolutely PHENOMENAL show though.
Our platoon SGT played “we are the champions” before we marched down to the parade ground to March out of basic training
Wow 🥰 loved it 😍 Freddie Mercury ❤️
My cousin is about 3 years older than me, and I remember the day he had me listen to this song for the first time. Back then all we could do is sit around the radio and wait for the DJ to play the song we were waiting to hear. He told me that it was the best rock song he'd ever heard.
Sitting you're listening to your comments before the video, I'm reminded of the debate my cousin and I had about the band. Did they call themselves Queen, because of the Queen of England, or did have something to do with being gay? At the time we didn't know, that Freddie Mercury was gay, and I decided it was a reference to the Queen of England.
Iconic song by an iconic group
