It's not better to have a gas chain saw unless you do tree work. If you are a homeowner that uses a chainsaw for your yard, an electric saw with a cord is the best option. I've done a ton of tree work for a living. My family had a myriad of Stihl saws. They need to be maintained. It gets very expensive if you don't know small engines. So for most people, the cost of any repair on that Stihl will be as much as a decent corded electric saw. I've bucked down 20-25" petrified pines that had been killed by pine beetles with an electric saw. No problem. Eats it up. My Stihl I never use because I can just oil up the electric and handle anything in the yard. Always starts up. No gas/oil mix that you have to use or discard. It's just better. Don't listen to the old heads. They are wrong and most haven't used a good electric saw.
