  • I bought a Black and Decker 10 in. 8 Amp Electric Chain and Pole Saw, and thought I would demo it for you. Chocolate and peanut butter go well together. Is a chainsaw pole saw a good combination?

      It does ok. It has a nice new sharp chain, so that helps.

    Just bought one and am putting it together. It would probably be a safety issue, but it would be nice to have a way to fasten it to a belt of some kind, or to at least rest it on one. In fact, I'm going to try just resting the back end over my regular belt on my waist and see how it will help with keeping it steady.

    I've had my black and decker pole saw like this for over 15 years. The plastic body gave way this year. Was cracked for years. Over time as limbs fell while i was cutting, time eventually took its toll. Nonetheless, it's a great saw. So I'll need to get a replacement. Glad to see that they still make this model. Mine had only one plug on the saw end. So the newer model seems to have more wires sticking out to get caught on things.

      I just came in from using it. I had a branch that was resting on a wire (phone line) and it was causing the wire to rub on the down spout. Whenever the wind would blow, it would sound like someone playing the cello outside my window.

    Hi S Andrew! I'm about to buy this saw, You can unscrew the gard and the handle for better view and less weight?
    Greetings from 🇲🇽

      @TheFixitShed  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The handle looks like it can be removed fairly easily. The guard looks like you would need to take the case apart to remove it. Removing these would improve visibility some, but the motor would still obstruct the view. Also, most of the weight is in the motor. If you remove the handle and guard, you are only dropping the weight by a few ounces.

    You have to do a video showing the folks how to reattach the chain when ut comes OFF or it gets loose because it WILL happen😮😮😮

    I have the saw it's great little saw but I need parts like the drive's sprocket any suggestions where to find them
    Thank You

      I just spent some time looking. I did see that someone was parting one out on eBay, but I didn't see a drive sprocket. This is really unfortunate, that parts are not readily available. Guess B&D would just rather you buy a new one. Unfortunately, it will drive people to buy a new one from someone else.

    Can you fold the extension pole back down as if it were in its packaged form? I want to store it in a large container with the rest of electric yard work tools.

    • @TheFixitShed
      @TheFixitShed  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. There is just a collar that unscrews, so you can take it apart

    I just got one from Home Deppot. I didn't bother reading the directions either. self explanatory. I did have to loosen the chain, was way too tight from the factory.

    I just tried to assemble the pole onto the chain saw and that orange knob you twist to separate the attachment piece just spins and will not unscrew! So annoyed, I got for Christmas and just trying to use it in spring.

    I just got this one,but the manual doesn't say what kind of oil put on it.

  • @marcusscott6199
    @marcusscott6199 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    What kind of oil is recommended

    • @TheFixitShed
      @TheFixitShed  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      From the manual: "Use a high quality bar and chain oil for proper saw chain and bar lubrication. As a temporary substitute, a nondetergent SAE30 weight motor oil can be used. The use of a vegetable based bar and chain oil is recommended when pruning trees. Mineral oil is not recommended because it may harm trees. Never use waste oil or very thick oil. These may damage your chain saw."

  • @mo6603

    How do you adjust chain tension?

    • @TheFixitShed
      @TheFixitShed  ปีที่แล้ว

      I just grabbed this from the manual:
      To adjust saw chain tension, loosen bar lock nut. Rotate the chain tension screw in the front of the housing using the flat screwdriver end of the wrench. Do not over-tension the saw chain as this will lead to excessive wear and will reduce the life of the guide bar and saw chain. Once saw chain tension is correct, tighten bar lock nut until snug.

    thank god for these videos , because i couldn't make heads or tails out of the stupid instructions they give you , the only thing these instructions are good for is to help start your barbecue or camp fire these instructions are a joke ...

    I just returned one back to Home Depot. I would stay away from this pole saw if your name is not Arnold Schwarzenegger. I assembled it and put some oil in it and plugged it in to the extension cord and nothing. It would not turn on so I did some trouble shooting to no avail. It was defective and it weighed like a fat baby hanging from the end of a pole. Buyer beware.

      Way too heavy to be out on the end of a long pole. They tried to do too much with it.
