I was in Menards tonight just before closing. I saw this saw so of course l had to check it out. Kind of like Dennis Hopper did in TCM 2, where he "one hands" the Super 2 and McCulloch before buying them. Of course a young employee walks past just in time to see it. 🙄

It is a strato saw though, so I wouldn't do too much to the port timing - just a little clean up. I have a little saw like this (echo CS352) with a 12" bar, cat delete and muffler mod, and slight timing advance, and its my little quick grab back of the truck to cut off a handle, or stuck wood, etc. saw. I've been using it a fair amount this season, even bucking some smaller diameter stuff on the side of a steep slope, where the super light weight makes it easier to climb. I think it could use a base gasket delete, and a little port clean up too, but really runs good as is.
Looks identical to my craftsman s145 just orange where mines red. If so, it's made by painier for mtd and has removable transfer caps. Ported up great! Still haven't pulled the cylinder off my craftsman s1600, only muffler modded so far. Interested to hear which you like better between it and your craftsman!
I have two saws like this, Zenoah g3800 clones. One is 37.2cc (39mm bore), the other one 40.1cc (40.5mm bore). 40c saw had a cat muffler, while 37cc only a muffler with a separator plate in the middle. I opened the CAT muffler and removed the wire hash inside, leaving a big hole in the separator plate. The temperature of the muffler dropped to around 350°C. With the wire mesh inside my thermometer gun would not measure the temp, so it was above 420°C. Next mod will be removing the base gasket, because the squish right now is 1.2mm I have seen some later Zenoah clones (GZ400) that are strato design. My two saws are not strato, what about this Black&Decker?
I bought this same saw. After my fourth use the back nut on the bar tighten nuts keeps falling off and causing the chain to loosen . How can I get those nuts to stop falling off. Thanks
I think for the price point these are good little saws, its to bad most of them come with the crappy safety chain and bars, with good oregon chain and bar combo they do well for the average bear!!!😂
I bought a 16" last year at Menards on sale for 80.00. Just took it out of the box yesterday. Works great!

Husqvarna 543xp wakes up good with just gasket delete, muffler mod and timing advance.

Even though I have Sthil chainsaws I'm going to Menards tomorrow to try and get this just because.
Funny is they dont list them on the wev site. Be interested in a complete tear down for to see how they are built.

I'm no pro, but usually if it has a cat, it isn't strato, and if it is strato, it won't have a cat.

Get them tighter never had that happen 🤔
I tried that and they fall off after a few minutes use.
@sherrykublic6017 make sure the pun for the chain adjuster is l8ned up with the hole in the bar properly
