    I thought I was going to want that 1” Insta360 but after watching this video I prefer the way the GoPro footage looks. To me that GoPro footage looks better and more vibrant than anything else. I prefer the look of the GoPro footage. Beautiful footage

    Looks like 1" sensor has more dynamic range, sunset/darker scene tests should bring out its strengths...
    Also you may be able to boost the iso on the 1" a bit and still have comparable noise, great tests so far!!!

    Right off the Insta 4K resolution was better than the 5K. Clear, bright defined. All edges were sharp, contrast, white balance all good. Were the conditions the same? The 4K seemed so different like the Sun came out. Nice job to show the difference. But realize I'm not viewing these clips with a 4K monitor. Duh. Wait, wait hold everything. I watched the Go Pro 8 set in all standard settings and for me, that's the Money shot. Go Pro 8 is the Gold Standard. Thats what I use for my water shots (surfing, kiteboarding, windsurfing, SUP, foiling. Go Pro 8 RULES.There is really no comparison especially when you look at the sky. BLUE. Damn thanks for the hard work showing the break down of Quality.

    Your quad in this episode resembles a Nintendo Switch.
    Idk, I thought I'd throw that out there.
    As for you flying in the same spot, that's PERFECT for comparison.
    In science, you use a consistent base, and that is the equivalent of you flying in the same spot. So, don't fret that.

  • @johnwang8982
    @johnwang8982 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I tried this camera and returned it back due to several issues. The first one is the video codec. It uses INSV format which is not compatible with many common video editing software like FCPX I use. It takes forever to export the INSV to MP4 in its Studio software. Secondly it takes several seconds to shoot a single still photo which is not tolerable for some action photography. Thirdly lots of the smart phone editing app themes are not useable on this camera, like the Timeshift hyperlapse feature. So even I like the IQ but I think it has much left for improvement in the future updates.

    • @webvamsi555
      @webvamsi555 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @john interesting to know, people are exporting to ProRes with the studio app, for editing later in FCP/Premiere, taking too long for photos with 360 Mod? is it the latest firmware, would like to know more find detail what issues you find! Thanks

    Insta360 impressed me instantaneously by having a Leica lens! Have you looked at how much Leica lenses are for DSLR's? A small fortune! They're like Zeiss lenses... The best you can buy, and you pay for them! But, that being said, with a full 1" sensor, this option is a total bargain if you want the best image possible from an action type camera! 😎 🤘 Impressive!

    Between the erratic flying and TH-cam compression, it was impossible to make an educated assessment. You're an awesome pilot, we got it. The reason for a 1" sensor is better low light, really needed some cinematic shots with some high and low light mixed situations.

  • @BenjiMacCloud
    @BenjiMacCloud 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Insta360 is Arashi Vision Inc., a camera company headquartered in Shenzhen. The software part of this camera is just a piece of Chinese spyware and not really suitable for FPV. You can not switch of WiFi or Bluetooth in the camera menu, so you always fly around with a small WiFi router interfering with onboard electronics. This is far from ideal. With GoPro, WiFi is switched off by default. What are your thoughts?

    I broke my 1X yest & bought a 1R today 🍣🍙🍧
    1. The 1X is much LIGHTER & when attached to a selfie stick is easier to hold.
    2. The 1X hangs from yr neck. I was ready to shoot in 7 sec. Good luck w/the OneR.
    3. The 1R is zipped in a case (not included) so it's a hassle to retrieve.
    4. The 1X has a female screw hole under itself. No added cage to attach.
    5. The 1R needs a cage (added weight; cumbersome removal & application)
    and the reviewed cage is metal so i presume it's heavier. Why does anyone want added weight?
    The 1X versus the 1R: The 1R is for ppl who also want an action camera. Like MOST ppl I already have an action camera or a dSLR or a compact camera or a phone camera. I wanted the 360 function. Lightness & ease of use was the OneX's superior qualities.
    The 1X is "not in stock" on both Amazon.jp and on the Insta360 website so I don't kn if Insta360 is discontinuing the OneX. Here's an added suggestion to Insta360: give the selfie stick a wrist band like wrist bands offered on compact cameras.

    Having a longer shutter is desirable for a bigger reason than vibration: COMPRESSION.
    A lot of the time I see videos uploaded that haven't used an ND filter or have used a fast shutter speed. I'm sure it looked great on their computer, but as soon as TH-cam recompresses the video it is wasting data on trying to render the edges of the image. If they had used a longer shutter speed, the edges can blur out and TH-cam compression (or any kind of compression) will get data there and be able to render the centre frame with more data.

    I just got burned buying the DJI FPV goggles, I can't use them, they make me super nauseous within minutes watching any FPV flight video on them or flying in Liftoff int hem with an HDMI to RCA adapter. Not fun at all, painful actually to use them. Dunno what's going on - when I switch back to a 1080p computer monitor I'm fine. So bleh, my Insta 360 One R purchase plans are now on indefinite hold or being canceled. If DJI FPV Goggles just won't work for me, I may just be throwing in the towel for this hobby after blowing $2,000 to get all the digital essentials.
    Sucks, because I got 250+ hours in Liftoff having a blast in Acro and 5 years playing fast motioned mouse aiming FPS shooters - never, ever made me nauseous. I think it's the small screen, and the optical tricks the goggle lenses are using. Anyone else have FPV goggles make you nauseous or dizzy like your on a playground Merry-Go-round Roundabout?
    Going from 1080p monitors a tiny DJI FPV goggle screen was no imax experience for sure... didn't matter that much to me, as long as I could just make them work for me... but I wasn't expecting this... that they would make me wanna puke after 5 minutes of flying with them... and it's not like I'm moving my head.

    GoPro has horrible color science. shooting 'flat' is really the only option and then going into a NLE and creating a 'look'. insta360 color is much more natural looking out of the box (which is pretty much what your test encompasses). although, as you mention, using ND's on all cameras would be really be beneficial. low light/just after sunset when light in a city are beginning to illuminate would be in interesting test subject. btw...green foliage is probably the most difficult for video to resolve...and not look blotchy.

      No never, but I'm trying to have multiple options - that's for sure.
