Great video, I was born and raised in Kippax, left 50 years ago, recently visited the Village and some old friends, awesome experience and a lovely place.
I also used to work at Allerton Bywater pit as a lad. Cheers mate, made my day and I can find out who painted the Pit scene near the old Kippax Dr surgery, Dr Car in my day. Regards from Australia.

Just watched this one, Andy. Back in the early 1970s, I worked for the Institute of Geological Sciences, who had a rock store in the former engine sheds at Kippax. Rock cores from the North Sea oil rigs were sent to the store to be sliced and analysed and the results incorporated in the offshore maps that were being compiled for the first time. I left IGS in 1976, and the store was closed ten years later, in March 1986. I also was told that the Royal Train used to overnight in sidings nearby during Royal visits to the region.
