I really wish WCW had gotten a tall guy, dressed him up as Big Show and then call him the huge production.
Big show the only man I know that can go from heel to baby face and back to heel all in one night. He returned at no way out in 2008 and he was immediately a face and then about 40 seconds later attacked Ray Mysterio

The Giant was a big deal in WCW but he honestly didn't live up to his true potential in the WWF. He should've been a threat to everyone but turned out to just be a goofy giant...
He was treated good and he’s one of their biggest stars so idk what you talking about.

that was mostly his fault, he was so ripped in 1996, skip not even 3 years and he was extremely out of shape. another wrestler i think triple h said that was the reason he wasn’t the threat he was supposed to be.
blame the writers. They sure made John Cena a big deal.

No disrespect intended but Paul Wight doesn't sound like a wrestlers name, it sounds like someone who works in an office not a 7ft giant that chokeslams people. Despite his size and talent i don't think Paul Wight would have gotten over as well as he did if he wasn't rebranded as the Big Show.
100%. I think that he also would’ve had difficulties if he stuck with “The Giant” as well. He wouldn’t have been able to escape Andre’s shadow if he kept it.

@@mattj4112 he was supposed to be Andre's bastard child though, they could have played up on that since Andre had such a large following in the 80's.

@@XZeeBeat Even if he didn't/doesn't watch AEW and assuming he still watches WWE, he would still begin to wonder (eventually) why Paul Wight/Big Show hadn't appeared on WWE television after a certain period of time, so try to think up a better way to take a shot at AEW because that one is pretty lame and uninspired.

Well it looks like he's trying to make Paul Wight happen, and they put him in a video game as that too. So, you know, I think that name would have worked just fine from the beginning, but I prefer The Big Show.
Back in 2002 when I was 8 years old, was my very first time I caught/watched pro wrestling on tv, and I specifically remembered seeing this huge, massive wrestler, and wanted to know his name.
And then his name prompt on the screen and I even said it out loud and had this "wtf, LOL" undertone reaction. Cuz let's face it, it's incredible corny and cliché, unlike other wrestlers names like the rock, undertaker, triple H, etc - which they all sounded cool/appealing.
Though it's fair to say that his stage name panned out, with respect to his theme music and his whole spiel. Good to know the backstory on that nonetheless.
Big Paul Wight would've been a better name but i never disliked The Big Show name.
Always enjoyed Paul's work in and out of the ring.

The Giant was a better gimmick. But, WCW had better writers in the early-90's.

1:24 buddy I went to school with was a good hockey player everyone thought he'd go pro so got him to sign things ...he signed like he was signing his license lol ...he ended up hooked on drugs cuz hockey "medical" staff keep giving opiodes sad story there were a few guys in my town that could of went pro 100% maybe not NHL deff European hockey

I never liked "The Big Show" or his entrance .... wasted talent for how physically huge he is! All I ever hear when his music hits is The Rock singing "Weeeelll it's the BIG SLOW ...."
He debuted amazingly and would have been great as McMahon's 'muscle' all during the remaining Attitude Era and into Ruthless Aggression! The Big Show was a stupid name for him in the WWF!

The "Big Show" is a stupid name. Always has been, always will be.
Paul said The Big Show is making fun of the initials TBS aka Turner Broadcasting System, which was done to mock the TV channel that WCW programming used to air on. They were in the middle of The Monday Night Wars when Paul was given that name, so it makes sense in that context.
