One of my best memories is running into Show at the airport when I was with a group of other students waiting to go on a field trip to DC. My friend and I saw him coming through the security line and were slowly losing our shit as no one else had noticed. She was much braver than I am and ran right up to him as soon as he started to get to our area. I followed her, and we got pictures with him...and was subsequently surrounded by our peers who were all freaking out at this point. It was way too fuckin early to be dealing with a whole boat load of 8th graders, most of which were already amped for their first plane ride, and he was very kind and dealt with all of us. Took all the pictures and signed all the random stuff we had. Mostly just kept reminding us not to spill his coffee. I still remember how much I freaked out as soon as I was allowed to call my family when we made it to our hotel in DC. I had never been away from my family, I had never really been out of the state, I had for sure never been on an airplane, I had saw monuments I learned about in school...and the first words out of my mouth were "You are never gonna believe who I saw!!!!!!"

For all WWE's sins (and there are many), their disregard and absolute disrespect for this man bothers me perhaps more than any other. Him talking here about it being a job and sometimes having to do things you don't like is the perfect snapshot of his humility, and man does it show in his career. People were so surprised he left because he always did what was asked, he hated many of his angles, he hated his promos but he gritted his teeth and did them because that was his damn job and he was too humble to complain. Then after all those years of service they had nothing for him, he got in great shape and they didn't care, no Shaq match, and they didn't even try to keep him happy or onboard. The fans never really connected with him but that was largely down to doing as he was told with crappy angles and tired promos.
He always deserved better and I really hope he's genuinely happy with where he is now, what a great guy.

As big and as successful as R-Truth is, he should have been much, much, much bigger! This goes for Kane as well; as successful as he's been, he should have been bigger. He could have been bigger!

He had done everything he could in the ring. They didn't want him to wrestle anymore. That's not disrespecting someone. He debuted in AEW to announce the debut of someone else. He wrestled ONE time against QT Marshall in a meaningless match and he commentates sometimes on ONE of AEW's b-show's. You say he deserved "better", but he's not getting better in AEW.

Some has been ROH stuff that nobody watch? Mr. kennedy, he was pushed to the moon in wwe? Are you high? He became vince's child almost, fueded with the undertaker and a last ride match. He was kicked out because he was unsafe to work with. Vince is going to choose between who? Orton and Cena who are legends who carried wwe or Kennedy a mid level guy? Next, naomi. Naomi is fat, can't cut any promo, has one dimensional character. Have you seen naomi doing anything in wwe? She becoming champion once or twice is way above her pay grade. cryme time wasn't even that good. Shad even got HOF. R-truth? Seriously? R-truth is a legend, no one wants to see his in ring work. He is a national treasure at what he does. Kane. Kane is a regular for over 20 years and is a hall of famer, highest royal rumble elimination, multiple world champ, had solid gimmick despite the lack of athletism and still not enough for you? There is spot for one guy at one generation, by your standard rock and steve austin was also misused by wwe, isn't it? I didn't see orton-cena treated badly, nor the shield, despite no push becky lynch, she became a megastar by her own talent. Maybe wwe is not the problem but not enough talent ever though of that?

They could have given him the Shaq match, they could have given him a retirement run, but no they said be an ambassador and stfu despite him still wanting to wrestle. He's wrestled several matches in AEW but more importantly they've been on his own terms, they let him out there when he gets the itch, not push him out there when they need a giant jobber. He's working backstage, he's trying out commentary, and there are talks about him having a Captain Insano run. Show was legitimately one of my favorites to watch in the early to mid-2010s, way past his prime already. He had a decent storyline with Henry that produced decent big man matches, the ring collapse retread aside. He had great chemistry with an emerging Daniel Bryan. Then he turned heal and had some bangers with Sheamus and was beating him clean for the belt, as a bad guy, while Sheamus was in his dominant smiling babyface era. A while later after Alberto turned babyface they had a pretty entertaining street fight that really cemented Alberto as a believable babyface people could rally behind, for a little while at least. I even loved his insertion into the Cena-Punk rivalry and his presentation in that angle, even when everybody else was disgusted by it. Then years later during an injury layoff he woks himself back into the best shape of his life since his very early days, and has a short star-making feud with Braun Strowman. I was flabbergasted at his transformation.
Bless him, his heart, mind, and attitude is in the right place, but his body and antiquated wrestling style aren't. He's a giant who has been doing this for 30 years with countless injuries and health problems. And his wrestling style and presentation are relics of the past. I can't imagine his body and presentation can even do much for any company moving forward. IMO, he needs to go back to WWE and settle into a backstage role, and possibly only come back for a few Wrestlemanias in a row before retiring from in-ring for good.

@@Batis_Patikilye It's not really something to laugh about considering WWE's effed up history. With Big Show and plenty of others who put in the work but found themselves doing things even they questioned if it's going to go well with the audience. And before you know it, you're outta here with not even a slightest amount of respect if you didn't kick ass in business long enough or kissing rear to Vince and his like-minded yes-men. And even if you did, you could be brushed off like how Luna Vachon got brushed off by Vince in favor of Sable, who by the way, couldn't wrestle for shite compared to Luna who even knew the business in and out. That's why some wrestlers leave WWE for good to try elsewhere with other wrestling promotions. WWE may have billions of dollars in its name thanks to Vince, but his attitude stunk up the place, even Triple HHH had a hard time getting his ideas to make WWE better if Vince is still behind the scenes.
This can happen to anyone, including us. And yes, while people make fun of others for age, give it time, anyone whose young will get there when enough time passes. Trying to stay where you love, only for people to tell you to quit for some reason not any different than how you were trying to be led into believing that quitting is a good idea by people like them. Some people shouldn't be starting with the sad stuff, when you could one day face what Big Show has faced and will have to either persist in another way until you leave by your own terms or just give in. By the way what @user-dk3cq8ue3v is also true. I know a few people still wrestling in their 50s, pushing it for more action until they are ready to leave by their own terms. Look around, you'll know what me and that guy are talking about. And Rey Mysterio is still in this as well, he's 50 as well. And you can say that for people in any position in any industry.

I really would like to see Paul do more in-story and in-ring stuff in AEW. Put him in a face stable of younger guys as not only their heavy backup but also as their mentor (the guy's been around for more than 25 years after all), who helps them out in multi-man matches but isn't doing all the work for them (kind of like Billy Gunn for The Acclaimed). Let him be a character as much as a force in the ring.

Damn right. As a giant he had one of the best careers ever. His longevity should be lauded and he is a good wrestler and talker. He is very underrated in that last department I think.

Relieved to know that Big Show hated doing those "Imma giant" promos. WWE pigeon-holed him really fast.

This was my first time hearing Big Show speak and he was incredibly articulate. I can see exactly why he needed a change of scenery. It is good to see another avenue for professional wrestlers, besides the monopoly brand.

Would have loved to see n would have been awesome if he came back as The Giant one more time. Including coming back as one of the OG nWo members.. is it too late for that now?

He honestly should have stayed in WWE. What has he done lately? Nothing but commentary. Who's he wrestled? At best three opponents. That's all great if he's happy, but that contradicts what's he says here about wanting to wrestle. Two years and AEW only gave him that so far. How AEW any different

I don’t even work for wwe even I find it frustrating how the higher ups treat their roster. These people have so much potential and talent and a lot of the times it’s overlooked and are used as jobbers, mid carders or used in squash matches. They deserve better. It’s pretty bad that certain people on the roster are getting paranoid knowing since Vince came back they could be released at any moment. The guy is power hungry and it’s rather sad.

At the end of the day if you got a good roster... not everyone can be a top guy, especially if you are around for 10 plus years. Especially in big show case there were 2 giants in Undertaker and Kane ahead of him who were much better characters.
