im gona be tackling this job this week, i car idles like shit until it warms up then all is good, so i suspect its this line i need to refresh, i also already replaced my intake boots, upper and lower, DISA. cleaned, ICV and throttle body. and changed cam intake sensor. still i have ruogh idle and lean codes. its most most likely a stubborn vac leak.
Sounds like a vacuum leak I would purchase a evap smoke machine to find out exactly where it's at.I am going to soon because these e46s having 20 year old hoses and Seals go out and it will save you time and money to find exactly where the leak is and replace that part.
Would have helped if you had shown the ports that the hoses went into. Missed an opportunity to have the perfect and much needed video for this repair.
That's what I thought. The vacuum line from the air pump control valve should go to the solenoid valve on the back of the intake manifold. Then, there's a vacuum line from the solenoid valve to one of the intake vacuum ports. This line has the one way valve (white to passenger side, black to driver's side). The second vacuum port on the intake goes to the cannister by the starter. And the big vacuum port I have plugged.
@@Neo-ih2fh - I'm not sure about that. My 2003 330i does not have the same setup as my 2001 330Ci. It does not have that little solenoid at the rear of the intake manifold. Not sure which M54 models have the solenoid or not.
Glad to see someone do this job. Did you retread it to clamps near secondary air intake? What did you experience as you did it? Too tight to see path. Enough room to thread kit o.k.? Just wondering b/c I want to attempt it. Thanks again.
He did this half wrong. The blue hose goes from the egr into the vacuum solenoid thats also in the back of the manifold. Then that white/black check valve also comnects to the vacuum solenoid to the intake manifold. Look at the diagram he shows.
Hey sorry I dont mean this in a rude way but my vacum solenoid is connected after the white and black filter.If you want me to show you I am happy to.Some e46s run it before and some run it after.
You should have replace that line too as it will also be a poor condition. But it is not in the right location The one way valve prevent oil flow from the engine cover without it or wrong position you can get oil into the vacuum switch and clog it. The diagram is correct your last installer was not. . Also tie up the blue line away from the engine or you may get more leaks soon.
@@mahomed-husseinismail2776 the cheapest and good quality is on Amazon crank case vent valve but those are a bit more challenging to replace.I notice mine are good but I probably will eventually.

You missed the solenoid valve behind the manifold, that its a key for a vacuum leak!

4mm and it fit perfectly
you know you can remove the secondary air pump and the line that you installed without a problem. is an easy way . have a look on the net. good video.

Yeah but thats because there is still more hoses that need to be swapped but it did definitely help
