Thank you for this, recently signed up to ACX after a recommendation from a VO friend, what you have laid out here answered a lot of questions for me, x
@@CrownStagVoiceover great video. Just signed up a few days ago. An author has contacted me on through a message today about a short book and says she really likes my voice. I dont know the details yet as its not been uploaded to ACX yet. I have replied to her message however showing my interest. Have you had bother with messaging on ACX? I sent my reply to her but it isnt visible and theres no notification to say its been sent.
Hi, Neil. Loving your videos. Thanks for doing them. I'm just dipping a toe into V.O. work and I'm already finding I have mic envy for a lot I'm seeing used in videos. Can I ask what make and model you're using here? It doesn't seem to pick up any extraneous sounds I'd expect (no mouth noise or even breathing, which I think I may have heard once, and only barely, in one of your videos). Is that thanks to the mic, or the pop screen, or your editing them out, or just your own techniques, or... ?
If you are getting paid upfront, anyway, why would you worry about their ranking on Amazon? I would worry about the ranking if I were working for royalty share.
Can you Narrate with USB microphone for ACX, and how difficult is it to get the audio settings in compliance with their requirements? Is it difficult to learn , I’m hearing that the audio is why people struggle with .
Might be misleading to suggest books on ACX are there for the taking. You neglected to mention the time devoted to winning the audition. There are nearly 800k registered narrators on ACX competing for titles. Did you really land the first book you auditioned for? I've been on ACX for 4 years and still waiting for a job. When you factor in auditions definitely not worth it in my opinion. Some may find that info useful.
Never do royalty share! If an author doesn’t have money to pay you upfront, he won’t have money to promote his book so there is a profit. If he does have enough money to to promote his book, he won’t want to share the profits with you.
Those royalties do keep coming in. I still earn from ACX books I voiced 6 years ago.

Excellent analysis
Thank you very much
In you opinion is ACX still worth it in 2022? I have heard it has been kind of going downhill the past few years.
It really depends on the project to be honest
What do you need to record and edit?
