  • Back to the old school how to videos! Today I figured I would walk you guys through how to install an Extreme Turbo Systems Front Mount Intercooler on a GD Chassis WRX/STI. For most GD Chassis you'll have to do some cutting fort the intercooler core. BUT It really is not too bad to do! Hopefully this video Helps!

    Tip about sliding couplers on, don't use oil. Use hair spray, it will slide on while "wet" but it will "dry up" and then help keep the couplers in place. I have noticed a decrease in popped couplers since I started using this method.

    • @Smeedia

      Need to grab a can of hair spray to keep around 🔥 normally I've got silicone spray in the garage but only had some oil up there 😅

    • @wildberrytalon
      @wildberrytalon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just told a guy tonight about the hair spray trick. Extra hold! Blew his mind. Rarely do I have problems with a hair sprayed connection. Never use oil. Never.

  • @DougTheSnowMan
    @DougTheSnowMan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Instead of oil, use a basic hair spray for hoses and piping. Lubricates going on and sticks it together once it dries. That's what we've done at every shop I've worked at.

    Love the channel as always!
    Been dabbing into the thought of adding more power to my 04 WRX after this JDM engine swap. I put the idea of a new turbo on the back burner for now since I’ve read the vf series aren’t very good for the 2.0 ej platform.
    In the meantime, I did want to add a fmic for the aesthetics and any future plans if I ever want to hit 300+ hp. So I was wondering, what’s the best budget fmic kit that you recommend for daily driver usage? I plan on taking the car to 300+ hp at some point in the future of course, but for the meantime I’m okay with the power it’s at at the moment. Just want something that’s good with base power and something that can hold for any additional power I might want to throw at it. Don’t want to break the bank either!
    Any thoughts on the matter is greatly appreciated!

    • @Smeedia
      @Smeedia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What would your budget be? My first suggestion would be ETS but turbo XS is okay and cheaper

      You shouldn’t get a front mount for the aesthetics, you should focus on supporting mods that will maintain health before you go for more power, catch can, blow off valve and whatnot

      theoretical question, since the power steering reservoir is also within the airbox, doesnt it radiate some heat which of course, courses through the whole intake side of things
