Tom Petty, Don't Come Around Here... as much as we could argue about the 80s sounds in that cut, you cannot argue with Tom's amazing vocal performance. The attention to detail and execution of his sounds and vowels is incredible.

"Lucky"! The guy sitting on the mushroom and playing sitar at the beginning of the video is Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics. The song that kicked off Tom Petty's career is "Breakdown" from 1976. The guitar lick in that song still sounds good 44 years later. Also check out "Listen to Her Heart", "You Got Lucky", and "Ways to be Wicked" from later in his career.

The backup singers were a unique and perfect mix of high clean soul vocal, rock, and classical. All blended with the non-conventional string work. No other song sounded like it. A nod to the artist's originality.

I love that even in a weird rocker of a song, there's a grace note that changes it at the end. The whole song he's demanding and telling, but at the very end he calls her "honey" and begs her "please" don't come around here no more, and you see that under all the anger, he's really hurt and still loves her, even though it's over.

Now we all know where the whole TH-cam "rabbit hole" comes from! This is a great song, but you've only scratched the surface of this guy's work. There's so many memories associated with this song and especially this trippy video. Swear I wasn't high while watching this back in the day. (Fingers crossed) Haha! Happy Friday beautiful queen! This video is one of the classic early MTV videos of all time. And the guy who's the caterpillar in the video, his name is Dave Stewart who not only co-wrote the song but he's also a member of Eurythmics with Annie Lennox. You should definitely check them out with "Sweet Dreams" (the song Marilyn Manson covered), "Here Comes The Rain Again", "Missionary Man", "Would I Lie To You?", etc. You'll love Annie's soulful voice.

Definitely not one of his better songs. Anybody can repeat a statement over and over. American Girl, last dance and learning to fly would have been a better choice but hell exploring music and rocking something new is never a bad thing, unless the message is spreading hate. We need to unite and fight as one if we are ever going to stop the hate, racism and negative feelings. Remember that alone we are just that "alone, solem and week" but together, together we make the rules, we run the door and we run the "club". Everyone is welcome to join the club and get a good start on making the world we want to live in and the people we want to live with. One love, UNITY AND 🖕RACISM AND HATE.
