do a loop through the grommet then another loop from around the edge of the tarp and push that loop through the loop that went through the grommet then put stick in that loop and it will lock it down from sliding. Great vid Love the idea!!!

This, THIS is why You Tube is so great. Guys like this sharing knowledge and insight. Something so simple but yet so practical and necessary in a urgent survival situation. Thank YOU.

Yeahhhh baby!!! That was really slick. I value knowledge, but if I am in a survival situation or just want to make life easier, I would prefer not to have to worry about knots and then untying them later.
Wow! Thank you, thank you! 😀I will be using this right away on a 12 x 24 tarp. Terrific tip! A real Game changer, as I don’t see well and it’s over 100° outside today... not having to make all of those knots just saved me a lot of time in the hot sun. Thank you from Arizona! 👍 Blessings to you!

You're very welcome! I'm really happy to hear that you enjoyed this one my friend! Thanks for taking the time to watch, as well as for your very generous comment... it means a lot!
I liked this so much I immediately went out to my shop and grabbed a four foot, 3/4" wood dowel, which I cut into twelve 2 1/2" lengths, then modified them with a round file in the middle about 3/16" deep and a 1/2" wide so the bungee could not slip out of the channel, then after looking at what was left I cut them down to use for holding an ear of corn, by placing a stainless screw into an end of the dowel which were cut to 1.5" so I barely had any waste left. Thanks for for the tip as well as an idea for eating steaming hot corn, without burning my fingers.
I went even further and made 2,000,000 of your little dowel projects (minus the screws) and dribbled them about the woods wherever I may wander for the next 40 years so I'll never have to carry any with me! just yankin' your chain, good idea
It's the little trick like this that can make all the difference in the field. I'd never seen this before and absolutely plan on keeping this in my back pocket. Thank you for sharing.
You're more than welcome Barry. I'm glad to hear that you found it useful. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment by the way... it's much appreciated!
Because it's a tip for people who didn't learn to tie any knots. Anyone who can tie two half hitches won't ever need this tip. And you use midshipman's hitches around your stakes to make it adjustable. The idea is to use fewer steps and make it less complicated. So, that's why I downvoted it. Not every innovation is genius. This one ins superfluous.
Although this is simply common sense, it's clearly stated, and executed, within an excellent video. My question is not only about this video, but this one is a fine example of what I see far too often, and don't grasp. There are 2% thumbs down, but no negativite comments, so what possible negative thoughts do people have on this??? I see no reason at all to down this one?
TH-cam has overloaded the thumbs down. It doesn’t just mean “I hate this fucking video, it’s awful”, it also means “this may be a perfectly fine video but I’m not interested in this or anything like it, please don’t show me any more.” So if the algorithm is recommending your video to... well, anybody at all, really, you’re gonna collect thumbs down.
I like it and want to try it. The only negative I can see, and again, I have to try it, is that with no attachment through the inner grommets, will the tarp slip off due to wind, rain load, snow load, etc? I like the idea, and the adjustability part as well.
Hi John! Greetings from Brazil! My wife used to clip these grommets in several different type of cloths, considering she is a seamstress. Normally these kind of grommets are used in curtains too. So she lent me her clipping grommet machine and I have clipped more groments on my tarp - every 30 centimeters- around 12 " - is clipped one of them. In addition, with a pair of scissors I cut several pieces of rubber (from an air chamber) those ones assembled inside of the tires. Of course, I will not destroy my tire just to remove its air chamber lol ! You can buy one of them in any tire shop. It is not necessary to be a brand new...it could be a used one. I cut several rings of rubber - wide enough to pass through the grommet and make a loop. While camping, If the wind is strong,it will not damage your tarp 'cause it gets flexible and you have more points to put your camping sticks on the ground. If you are not using your tarp, it is not necessary to take them away...you just fold it and it's ready! Anyway, your suggestion is also cool! congrats!
You're more than welcome. I'm glad to hear that this helped you out. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment by the way... it means a lot.
If your tarp doesn’t have grommets, you can put a small stone into the corner, tie the tarp end around it an secure it with a loop, then tighten it to a tree. Old Boy Scout stuff.
An added suggestion: buy yourself a bag of small marbles. These can be used for tarps that do not have grommets. Wrap the material around the marble then tie off with your line. Works great and you do not have to cut holes in your tarp.
