- Another in the series of tarp setups. This time I used my walking/hiking poles. These setups can work with sticks as well.
The stealth setup - low profile, easy to set up, groundsheet, and can be adapted into the envelope style.
The Tarp tent - great set up, lots of head room, great in the wind, can be tricky to pitch, but can be adapted into a better style with groundsheet.
The Lean to with a lip - super simple, very quick, groundsheet.
A frame type - easy to set up, head room at the front, 3 sides, rear can be adjusted to be open.

theres something comforting about the rustling sound of a tarp as its being moved into place, almost like the tarp is singing a song of " camps almost up! "
Thanks for watching 😊
Nice setups. Thank you for sharing
Thanks you for watching 😊

Very nice footage and video made! I also love hikeing, bushcraft and make some video to. Keep on!!!
Thank you, I’ll be sure to check you out later 😊
The last one is the first time I've seen a different form of tarp tent. Thanks for the upload this is excellent and very helpful 👍👍
Thanks for watching, glad it helped 😊
@@MSIOutdoors no worries. Just out of curiosity.... if you were to use a 4m x 3m tarp instead could you create a ground sheet somehow?
@@TheGreatRaymondoOutdoors I don’t see why not. Especially if there’s a tie out point 3m in (on the 4m side).
@@MSIOutdoors great!! I'm going to give that a go. Thanks
Great vid! What pegs are those please? I'm wondering if the 4x4 tarp can be used with trekking poles or if you would need something bigger....🤔
Thanks 😊. They are the oex ones from go outdoors. I would think the poles would be ok with a 4x4. Maybe just more guy lines to support the poles.
@@MSIOutdoors great, thank you
Hey man, I'm gonna be using your "lean-to" method this weekend. Do you reckon bowline knots will be sufficient for support? Or should I use a different knot. Expecting rain, light wind.
Yeah that’s what I use on the end of my guy lines. And clove hitch for the pegs.
It seem your track pole is lightweight. Nice job
thanks 😊
Dropping wisdom
thanks for watching 😊
My favourite tarp set up video thus far. If you don't mind answering. How long were each bits of parachord, particularly for the first set up?
Thanks for watching. There all around 2m (6ft) if i need longer ones i usually double them up.
Nice if you explained why you use one over the other.
Thanks for watching
Hey new subscriber here.just found this video..awesome mate see you on the next one😊
Thanks for subbing 😊
Great video, you just got a subscriber
Awesome, thank you!
Saudações desde o Brasil!
Greetings. 👍
Awesome. Thanks! That first setup pole can't be 125 cm?
Can’t quite remember, but maybe one of the sections was set at 125, not sure how big that would make the pole in total. Maybe 80-90cm. Thanks for watching 😊.
Useful setups. Thanks! For the tarp tent setup (at 08:10), what I like to do is to put the back side pegs a bit inwards because that way you can avoid having that back part laying flat on the ground and thus losing some space inside. Of course, you also won't get a ground sheet that way :)
Great tip!
I probably missed it but how big is the tarp?
3x3m
Is it worth trying to string a ridgeline between the two poles?
Yeah it’s doable. I’ve done it in the past.
I like the 10:37 set up also for the beach
What size tarp did you use for these demonstrations?
3x3m
What size tarp are we working with?
3x3meters. Thanks for watching
Is it possible to close the last set-up on both sides?
You could probs moves the hiking pole at the front to inside the tarp, that might close it.
@@MSIOutdoorsyou’d be able to copy the set up from the back. It would limit space inside (150cm, pole to pole) but be completely shut off.
Where do I get a tarp like that?
Hi this is the DD 3x3 tarp. They do a super lightweight one as well.
Is it 3x3 tarp?
Yes, the DD one.
Thanks for the effort but the camera is too close to see what’s going on.
Noted 😊
Also not recommended in Africa ! Snakes and big puddy cats 🐈! But each unto its own !
Thanks for watching.
Has anyone had any unwelcome guests using a tarp?
Not me personally, but a friend had a fox sniffing around once. Thanks for watching
One youtuber said he stopped using tarps because of mice
Not recomendef in SE Asia.Tent is better from snakes.
😂 i agree.
Agreed. These tarps are only to be used in parts of the world where human encroachment has completely killed off all the ground dwelling wildlife. You would be eaten alive by critters in Australia or South America or Africa or Asia or most of North America if you sleep under a tarp. They are for Central Europe only...
5* Hotel is even better 😂
