    New hammock camper here.
    Been getting everything together to go on my maiden hammock camping trip in mid July to North West Arkansas.
    I have been watching all kinds of “How to Tie Knot Videos”.
    By far, you are the easiest to understand and follow step by step.
    Thank you for making this easy to follow video.

    Very well presented. Most people screw up teaching knots and line work to degree you have to watch it half a dozen times to even get started trying it yourself. You were so clear, one viewing would teach a child! Thank you.

    Jessie Krebs is a field tested bad ass for those who are not familiar with her work. I once joked that the USAF was a paramilitary organization... (Intra service ribbing) until I was directed to attend their training iterations... Top notch schoolhouses and utmost respect. True professionals and action oriented subject matter experts. Kudos to Jessie Krebs former USAF SERE instructor. Wish there were more vids posted on YT of her doing her job.

    I didn't know you could make a bowline this way! Always made a bowline and used that loop to attach it to the tree with a slipknot. This is so much easier! Quick and to the point as well. Thank you so much.

    • @Limicola1
      @Limicola1 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree it's pretty cool but you can do the same thing tying the bowline conventionally. Make a "six" (a loop) in the standing part (just turn the standing end to make the loop), run the bight end around the tree, pass it up through the loop in the standing part, then run it around the standing part (left or right--it doesn't matter) and back down through loop. It's "the rabbit jumped out of the hole, ran around the tree, and jumped back down the hole" method, but the "tree" is the standing part and the loop that goes around the post is the bight end.

    Wow... I learned both knots as a scout and now I am a scoutmaster... Like so many other comments, my mind is blown with the Bowline. So simple it makes me ashamed to admit it..lol. From this point on, no more "rabbit around the tree ". This will be how it is taught... thank you

    • @seretrainingschool6778
      @seretrainingschool6778 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah! Bless you! When I teach knots I ask if any of the folks know the bowline or remember something about a rabbit and a tree. If they don't or seem shaky, I teach it this way instead. Some still prefer what I call the "boy scout" way of learning/doing it, though I call it a snake, not a rabbit! I think for those that really struggle with knots it still has merit!
      I've been tying it this way for almost 30 years now and definitely prefer it over the traditional method. I'm happy to spread the magic. I recently heard a great name for it: the "snap" bowline.

    I was taught that knot she just did many years ago, but we never knew the name of it. The only difference was that we did not make the first loop a 'slip' like she did. I think I'd like the 'slip' knot better as after we were done cinching ladders and pump jacks to the top of the contractor's work trailer, we'd have a heck of a time getting that loop out of the rope! I don't know why this was in my suggested section, but glad it was. Thanks for this great video!

    • @seretrainingschool6778
      @seretrainingschool6778 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you liked it! You can put a couple more twists in the slip loop before pulling it through as a modification which makes it even easier to undo when taking it down. I really like the versatility of the trucker's hitch. There are so many ways to modify it for various uses and still get the 3:1 or more mechanical advantage. Happy tying!

      I've learned to use that trucker's hitch while in the Army. I didn't know what it was called, I just played with 550 cord until I found something that worked. Your video made it WAY easier for me to make a slip knot though, in the middle of the line, and the saftey knot to keep it secure is awesome. Thanks!!!😊

    The way you tied the bowline was the star of this video, thank you...I've never seen it done that way.

    I have been hammock/tarp camping for like 15 years... Was using a bowline and a tautline hitch... you just cut my set up and tear down time in 1/3rd I'm pretty sure. That variation of the bowline, the trucker's hitch, and the trick with the stick.... are all amazing.

    Thank you! I can't tell you how many of these Knot videos I've watched to learn how to tie this! too many. This one was very clear thanks for making it easy! I feel more confident after watching this than any other video.

    i like your lock over the loop. Ive always added a half hitch behind the loop. Your way is much more versatile. Thanks!

    Awesome instructional video. I have been doing the truckers tension loop knot thing to secure stuff in a truck for a long time, but was doing it wrong. it worked, but didn't come apart easy. Thanks! and PS, 23,000 likes is great, the 800 some people that took the time to hit thumbs down, I pray for you to find a life. This is 100% positive energy and good information here. thanks The Prepared! Peace

      I agree who can thumb down a knot tying session. Once learned the truckers hitch can be remembered. I use it more often than ratchet straps for most load tiedowns. Pulling on a TH you can pull a rope in two before the knot will ever give way and still it disassembles very easily. A good tie knot has no hard knots

    Oh my! I have watched so many videos about this just so I could hang a short clothes line between two posts and the directions were always so confusing. The line seemed tight till I tried to hang something on it. The tightness was done by pinching fingers and pushing or pulling the line taught ....in any case. I’m in my mid 70’s. My fingers aren’t doing that. Then I saw your video with the pulley. Wow. I just hung two short lines in my yard and the sheets aren’t touching the ground! And it was simple....not “over this way and under that way and around and through”....whew! Women just make it easy. Thanks so much.

    I use the truckers hitch all the time ,it's an incredible knot if you add more loops you could snap the line ! Thanks for the additional tips😎

    This is one of the best videos on knots I have seen. It made me realize that knots come in modular parts that one can combine to achieve a desired purpose.

      Great! You are absolutely right, I think knots are best taught using a modular concept, and I find it fun to break complex knots down into simpler components for learning. Nice observation!

    I enjoyed watching your video. You make hard steps so easy. I was in Boy scouts for many years and all we did when erecting tents is to join tubes and drive skates into the earth. Kitchen personnel strung ropes to trees then to vanity sheets
