this game made me do something I've never done (not even in the witcher 3 which is my favorite game). I just mounted my horse and rode with no destination, I just went wherever I could. and I enjoyed the vibe so much.
@@jonaspetersen3072 it applies to arthur and anyone that has little time to live. It’s deep and insightful because like any average joe arthur is living his life albeit as a cowboy bandit until he finds out he’s dying so he tries to turn his life around and live a “better” life.
That ride back to Shady Bell after returning from *that place* after *that heist* in Saint Denis is probably the single most powerful moment I've ever experienced in a video game. D'Angelo kicks in, the storm clouds billow overhead, and I popped into cinematic mode and just sat there in a trance. Red Dead 2 is an undeniable achievement in interactive storytelling.
In my first playthrough I was like "what is this?" and I went into cinematic mode and watched. In my second playthrough I almost forgot this would happen and got the chills. So I went into cinematic mode and almost cried.

ong man, even in the ride over there I was lowkey in my feels cuz my great grandpa just died and I was looking around and saw this farmer working hard. I was reminded of how my great grandpa came from nothing and worked real hard, he loved westerns. Wish I could've shown him this game. It is and forever will be my favorite game of all time.
I played this game during my exam period so I didn’t have to get caught up with mechanics, the last single player story based game I played was just cause 3, and before that there was nothing. It was however one of the best story experiences I’ve ever had, that part in particular had me leaning back in my chair and simply welling up because you could feel the atmosphere
In my opinion, this is the closest we've gotten to the perfect game. The gameplay, story, characters, atmosphere, world, sound design, and graphics are all just absolutely incredible. There are plenty of other games I love to play but this game has set the bar so high that none of them ever even come close to scratching the same itch red dead 2 does
And thing is its 4 years old and nothing is really that close to it atleast for me sadly i didn't like gow that much im an open world whore so im really hoping gta 6 will be the same level atleast
@@malachiolmstead I think (having played both) GoW is the closer game-y game to perfection. Decently linear, side quests, good combat system, etc., where as RDR2 is a very immersive, realistic game. It goes through the change of a man, (Arthur Morgan) as he (based on the player) changes, and regains his morality, or worsens, and becomes rotten. Both very good games, just in different ways.
@@finn.25 yeah i definitely agree rdr2 is still one of my favorite games of all time I've played it like 3-4 times now and same with GoW although i think I've played GoW more but thats also cause ragnerok is finally coming out so I'm replaying it again. I just think i noticed more problems in rdr2 then i did in GoW like rdr2 had more bugs and sometimes clunky controls i didn't really have anything buggy happen in GoW (althought after kicking a chain and having to climb it is annoying and a little clunky) but they are a 9.8/10 and 9.9/10 with GoW taking the win imo. Both very different style of games but both doing it at a very high level
I agree! I feel the same about Horizon Zero Dawn - such a stunning game. So I was delighted when I stumbled onto Red Dead 2, though they are very different from one another. I simply think that they have such great stories which I haven’t found in many games yet… and to me that’s basically the most important aspect of any video game. 😊😅
I returned to gaming after 15 years out, and the first game I played was RDR2 and I thought “oh wow so this is how the average game is now!? Amazing!” I was mistaken.
Have a similar story to yours haha. Last console I owned was the original Xbox and gave it to my best friend in 06 and never owned another console until the new PS5 I bought July of last year. Played Last of Us 1, Ghost of Tsushima, Uncharted 4, Sniper Elite 4 and then Witcher 3 . Bought digital copy of RDR2 last January rushing through it getting to the end and trying to move onto Elden Ring, God of War but after playing as Arthur Morgan in the final days of the Wild West, nothing (for me) compares to the experience RDR2 has given me. On my 15th playthrough now 😄 on Version 1.00 (bought the disk), spent 2 months in Chapter 2 and in Chapter 4, I used Angelo Brontë glitch (v1) to get Arthur safely into New Austin (no Invisible sniper) to hunt the remaining Legendary Animals, complete Herbalist 9 and collect last Dinosaur Bones, felt great to do that as Arthur. Gonna be hard for another game to take that # 1 spot for me.
Same. Last system is previously owned was an N64. I bought a system to play this game, and my first thought was, oh man things have come along way since Ocarina and Golden Eye The next game I bought was GTA V hoping it’d scratch that itch, and while it was fun, the world in RDII just felt so much more cartoony and dead. I’ve played a bunch of games since then, but none of them capture the novel in a game feel of RD II
You were majorly mistaken. This is the needle in the haystack. Elden Ring, RDR2, and Baldurs Gate 3 are my 3 top current gen games. RDR2 still feels current gen somehow, an unaware individual could be fooled into thinking it was released last week and know none the better.
this game is one of the most memorable experiences in a virtual world i've ever had . it is just pure brilliance and Rockstar really did change how i look at other devs, and how sometimes i feel the devs are lazy when i compare it to this masterpiece . The slow pacing and brilliantly dense scripts and dialogue interation and an ever changing world design , and the music , aaah the music . chef's kiss
my only issue with everything behind this game, and rockstar as a whole, is their crunch culture. otherwise yes i fully agree, this game is one of my only three modern 10/10s (we don't talk about the online)
I don't think it is fair to say that other developers are lazy. Those other developers don't have a 540 million dollars budget to play with. RDR2 is awesome, but it is not just because the attention to detail. It is also the highest budget in a piece of entertainment ever. More than any other movie, series, video game, cartoon...

I don't think a lot of the developers are lazy though, most games have a focus and try to achieve that focus, this game's focus is the world and cinematic storytelling, which it thrives in, It doesn't mean other developers also have to focus on the same thing, right? This game is a masterpiece in its own way, but that doesn't mean every other game is bad, they do different things, like every game this game also has flaws and mediocre elements.
I agree with most everything except seeing other game devs as lazy. As Gustavo said, R* has an insane budget to hire on tons of people; the amount of hands that touched this game before it got to players is ridiculously high compared to devs with much smaller teams and budgets, hence why the credits are so long. We can praise a studio’s work without tearing others down.
A monumental achievement in interactive storytelling. Now that it has been almost been 4 years I can’t help but wonder if we’ll ever see a single player experience like RDR2 again... a budget of 500 million with this level of craft and dedication to the world, character, and the narrative. And basically everything else in between. I hope I’m wrong, but it may be a once in a lifetime game

Rockstar loves the concept of making the players to explore instead of spoon feeding their players. I mostly discovers cool things happening out in the middle of nowhere because I was collecting resources for Pearson. They basically wanted to give each different players with different playstyle what they want. People that likes to roleplay and explore more will do anything to discover everything, but it won't be too much of a problem for people who's only in it for the story.

That was my favorite thing about this game, the fact that there weren’t 1000 markers on a map. That it actively encouraged exploration and most of the encounters I had felt organic which cultivated a feeling of realism in the game. It fostered a sense of experiencing an event rather than just accomplishing a task like so many open world games feel like nowadays
I think those Ubisoft/Horizon games should make their maps more dynamic when you zoom in/out. If you look at the online map for RDR2 it looks exactly the same as the one of HFW he showed in the video but the game hides them until you zoom in
I'm on my 2nd playthru and still finding a bunch of stuff I missed by just being a few feet too far from seeing it. Even entire stranger missions and animals like iguanas I figured were only in Guarma and New Austin. You really are incentivized to explore by not being drowned in markers nagging you to do it.
I'll never forget how long the end credits were. It's amazing how many people it takes for something like this to come together. Rd2 really is an achievement that should be lauded for years to come for the bar it set.
Red Dead Redemption 2 has some of the most engaging and believable story telling and characters of all time. I've seen this game make some of the hardest men I've ever known tear up at some points and burst out laughing at others.
i do not normally get upset at anything but man i just lost it when arthur said goodbye to the horse i had been riding around for 60 hours lol. like it felt like losing a real companion.

@@OgZz73 They may say that. But RDR2 will hold up graphically much better than say a game from the early 2000's. And RDR2 will always be an impressive game as the developers put just an incredible amount of work into the detail of the game that it will always be a game that most studios will have difficultly beating.

Arthur Morgan is my favorite videogame character ever. No contest, he is the most well developed character I have ever had the pleasure of playing as in a videogame. It is truly astounding how good the writing is for his character and the performance Roger Clark gives. I am on my fourth playthrough and I am getting to see sides of Arthur and hear lines of dialogue I never did in my first three. He's the only videogame protagonist I have played as that truly feels like a human being. We also see Arthur display a huge range of emotions throughout the story like anger, love for those he cares about, fear, and a lot of others. I could go in more depth but if you played the game you probably know. What an incredible character. He is on the level of Walter White and Jimmy McGill in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul in my opinion. He's that good and I honestly don't think other protagonists in games come even remotely close to beating him.
@@Wyttazs Completely disagree. I could not get into the Witcher 3 because I honestly didn't connect with the story. Arthur is a much more interesting, relatable, and charismatic character than Geralt. I do not think Geralt is that great of a protagonist. I played like 30 hours of Witcher 3 and did not connect with him.
@@jimmymurphy898 Geralts character was developed in 8 books even before games. After reading all the books and playing the games I just can't agree that character developed just trough one game could be better. Most people agree that Geralt is one of the best game characters ever.
@@Wyttazs I would counter that point by saying the Witcher 3 was supposed ro bring in a lot of new Witcher fans and attach them to its world and characters. When it came out it was more mainstream than any other Witcher game or book and in my opinion it failed. Rockstar managed to make Arthur Morgan compelling in one long videogame and give him the depth as a character usually only relegated to tv shows or novels. The fact that I have to consume all of this extra media out of the Witcher 3 to get a well developed Geralt proves to me Arthur is a better developed character. Rockstar was able to make one of the most compelling fictional characters ever in one game and I didn't have to consume any other piece of media to get that character development.
Roger Clark made Arthur. Fantastic job. 10/10, he really brought so much life to the character. The humming to himself as he rides alone. “You sir, are a fish!” Love it.
This video was extremely wholesome. A man enjoying his favourite game, sharing stories of his newborn son and the trip with his wife. It felt like talking with a cool vibing guy in a bar. And also convinced me of buying RDR2. Loved it. Congrats man.
I played Witcher 3 and RDR2 back to back after RDR2 released. I had yet to try Witcher 3 till that point and i got the best gaming experience i have ever had with these 2 games playing them for the first time.
No spoilers for anyone who hasn’t played it. This game is my favorite game of all time, the story is 11/10. The amount of detail in this game still amazes me. There’s so many random encounters you can experience. sometimes I just hop on to explore locations and i always find something new with every play through. The stranger missions really delve deeper into the character of Arthur Morgan as well, but I like that you don’t have to play them in order to understand the full story. I’ve probably played the story 4-5 times and i always say “this time I’m going to do a low honor play through” but I always get so immersed in the story and characters I always play as an honorable Arthur. No game has gotten close to match RDR2 and no game ever will in my opinion. A true masterpiece.
Easily the greatest game I've ever played, you didn't even get into the awesome fact that you can either greet or antagonize everyone you come across and some of the dialog that happens is just hilarious, and some might get you punched in the face or shot, very entertaining either way.
Red dead 2 imo has the best and most immersive world in games today, I lost count of how many times I’d put my controller down just for a second to look away only to hear an NPC trying to talk to me or gunshots in the distance, the world feels so alive and natural, hope this game gets a 60fps update at some point.

I remember that I bought RDR 2 in January 2020 and I couldn't have timed it better. The story, the game mechanics, the vividness of the world and how immersive it can get is truly hard to match. I remember some times when I wanted to do the missions but I ended up fishing and hunting. It's one of those games you want to forget so you can experience it all again for the first time.
one of the things I love about this game is even though the map looks empty, in reality the entire game world is absolutely dangerous. there's nothing scarier than going through the swamps at night because you don't know what you'll run into, whether it be night folk, a gator, or a ghost. going through the swamps at night still gives me goosebumps to this day

Honestly RDR2 is the most *complete* game imo. Everything in the game feels right. From the body movements to the horse movements. All the fighting that's capable in it is seemless and just...fits. everything just fits so well.

Just as you said, almost 4 years passed a lot has changed, but the one thing that didn't changed is the vibe of this game. this is the kind of game I always dreamed of when I was a kid. The game where you can do whatever you want, where there is so much to do. Everything you can imagine. In a realistic western way. Not zombie, not horror, not fantasy just dirty guns and blood. And when this came out the dream came true. I realized it a few months after finishing the game. I hope that one day, something similiar will be crafted so again we could make our child dreams of a game fullfill.
This game is hands down my favorite game of all time! I played this game to the absolute max. Squeezed every bit of the experience I could. Hunting, fishing, exploring every corner of the map. I'd wait to complete missions I knew would move the story forward until I played that point of the game for 50 hours. I'm afraid to look at how many hours I have on this game. I bought it the day it came out and I played it regularly on the same story for the last 4 years. I finally finished the last mission 2 weeks ago. I have so many memories of discovering something in the game and getting so hyped! I don't think I've ever or will ever again get lost in a game like I did this one. You wanna talk about a completionist whenever a stranger or character asked for items to craft something I usually already had several of what they were looking for. Crazy... P.S. My wife hates this game lol.
it’s funny, i just found myself replaying this. Max’d out honor for the first time. felt good. and then of course cried my eyes out the last hour of arthur’s story
I believe this game is truly a one-of-a-kind experience, something we will never have again. Games like this might genuinely be once in a lifetime, or at least the kind of game we don’t see for another ten to fifteen years or so. It’s certainly the last game of any quality we see from rockstar, let alone this kind of quality

I started from scratch & having a ball. I've played a bunch of hours already & I haven't even did 10 missions yet. It's just soooo much to do that has nothing to fo with game. Then it's even krazier how u can just explore random spots. I never really look at the map to see what it says outside of me going to the actual mission. Now I have to zoom in & look at what it says. It may just say "Johnsons Cabin" & u go & may find something valuable. My thing now is to stack up my money so that's what I'ven been doing. I've learned so much watching TH-cam videos. I played this game by the book last time but now I know I don't have to follow exactly what the the game says. I've never played a game that was this free. It almost like a real world of just life. This time around I'm going to spend alot more time at camp & I'm going to read my journal now as I go

Plus the overall social culture has gotten a lot more sensitive compared to 2013 and before, so I wonder how they'll pull off the classical raunchy GTA humor. What an incredible game. It really is the subtle details that might get overlooked, like the way the sound of the horses' hooves change on different landscapes. You can hear the crunching of snow up in the mountains. Bravo RDR2, bravo. 👏
I just finished the game (epilogue 2 completed) and left perplexed... It was easily the most detailed, most heavy hearted game I have ever played. The amount of work Rockstar put in this game was mind numbing and to say the least, this is why we fell in love with gaming at the first place.
This game is so good I cried my eyes out when Arthur had his last stand. It was just so damn emotional and good, up there with the best movies or shows I've ever watched. You and your wife are a great looking couple btw man.
It has that iconic feel to it. Like it’s a story that had to be told, or was meant to be, if that makes any sense. Another great moment, my first play through, when Arthur begins his final ride, and the music kicks in. Countless games out there where the average person won’t even remember the story. Or where the story only really exists so that you can play the game. But RDR2, especially that first time, that’s not something you’ll just forget. Dammit Dutch…
My favorite scenes in the game: When Morgan and Lenny got drunk at the Saloon. The missions with Sadie (Baddest chick on the planet) And the saddest scene, most would say when Morgan died or when his horse died. But for me it was when he gave the payroll money to Tilly, and called her sweetheart.... I think the game is such a success because there's a little Arthur Morgan in all of us.
When Arthur says to Dutch "I gave you all I had" broke me. You can even see it move Dutch if you watch it back, unbelievable game, shame the online side has been hung out to dry
@@aldworth33 yeh, plus too many coward griefers on the online side I played storyline up until epilogue, never played the online, so then i tried the online, and quickly found it's not my cup of tea, so i went back to storyline to finish out the game
@@kcktodd303 you should have joined our posse, we set up a group of none greifers numbering over 100 who played most days together it was really fun until the updates stopped then the numbers slowly fell off and now even I haven't played for a few months, we mainly play fortnite or fall guys together to keep in touch, it's sad really cos we all love red dead some have literally grinded to millions of dollars and thousands of gold bars for nothing 😔
As a gamer, this game honestly made me feel more comfortable and mature with life. The first time I played it I did 3 missions and put it away. Forgot about it. Well, just last year I started gaming again after not, for 5 years. But also I didn't rush myself through the game. At times I would just get on my horse and go fish different locations for hours and hours. Adventuring and watching the sunsets 🌇 and sunrise 🌅. Rockstar knows they made a gem 💎 and as gamers we understand that fully. When Arthur died, I teared up a little cause throughout the whole game, he shows the integrity and eholesomeness as a character, when he did die, I got the feeling of when I watched my papa pass, and immediately went and found his grave in the game, shaken. Realizing how powerful this game was, and will forever be. And maybe in another year or two I'll relive this game. And experience a different love for the game. 🎮
Hands down my favorite video game ever made. Easily holds my attention for hours on end and I always love coming back to it. I've played through twice now, soon to start my 3rd time and I learn new stuff with each playthrough. I like other games but I love this game.
The story of Arthur Morgan and John Marston is just amazing. No other games (or even media) can really teach you something like these two games do. What is to be a good man? What is redemption of your sins?
My favourite part of the game is at valentine at night when stars are out and the mud physics of the the street there are phenomenal, it truly felt like I was there, I love this game so much
RDR2 was so good at just making you slow down. I get why some people didn’t like how slow some things felt, but it lends itself to the immersion. The slowness of the mechanics means you’re never in a hurry (if you embrace it) and that, to me, is what made me feel comfortable just fishing, playing poker, talking to the gang, etc.
@@geraltofrivia__w.w.7513 I don’t think it’s a mistake though. I think it was a conscious artistic choice. Any choice is going to have those who like and dislike it but I have to assume they knew what they were doing.
You want it be slower afterwards. Most people have little patience. Rdr2 is not a game for little fortnite kids, it expects some "maturity" from the player.There is an organic fast travel system in rdr2 which people don't even know exists.

I still remember this one absolutely random moment from the game. The sun was setting, so really beautiful color palette, I’m in the country side, beautiful nature all around, very slowly riding a horse, taking it easy, and suddenly the game starts playing a really nice music. I sped the horse up a bit to match the rhythm of the music. It was a really nice relaxing moment, completely random, did not need a quest or an npc to enjoy it
I really love that the game is slower paced than the usual games. It made me appreciate all the small or big things. When riding your horse toward a new destination you usually end up riding like 5 minutes and it could be that nothing happens at all. But if something happens you will be surprised and you will remember that for sure. You might end up doing something completely different forgetting what you had planned. Those long rides made me think about what happened just before perhaps rockstar wanted me to think about my decisions. The game is imo the best. The music is spot on.
This is the kind of game you need to fully experience before you die. I have it both on ps4 and pc but i never had the time to actually start engaging with it for more than a couple of hours and i really want to.
Do it man, even if it takes you forever to play through it all. I’ve never played any other game where I’ve just went “you know what, I’m going on a hunting/camping trip, let me get everything I need together and set out tomorrow”. The fact that it has an incredible story is just something else. I hope you start playing it more when you can! Enjoy every last bit!
I have spent almost over 279+ hours in this game, have gotten it in 2020 and I am still having fun with it. I don't know how often I have played the story through but I am currently trying to get the 100%. This game is art.
This game is an absolute masterpiece! The story, the game play, the environment, everything! It feels alive! It looks amazing! I've never anticipated a games release more, or been happier with the result, than RD2! A MASTERPEICE!
This game is THE BEST gaming experience I’ve ever had. I’m on my 5th (or 6th?) play through and I still find myself just getting lost in a world that continues to offer me new experiences. The story and characters are incredible. I love that the game lets you make Arthur Morgan whatever kind of man you want because it makes the emotions real for both he and the player
I’ve replayed it enough to get annoyed with small bugs like side missions/ events in town not triggering and some conversations and camp encounters just not triggering for me anymore past the initial playthrough I did, but I’ve found enough stuff and new experiences that have made this easily one of the best games ever with insane replay value.
I remember not playing video games for months after finishing RDR2. it took me a month and a half to beat it and nothing came close to the experience afterwards. (Gosh I should go back and play it again.)
I'm still playing it. I didn't discover it until late - Kingdom Come Deliverance was my main game over the long term until Ghost of Tsushima came out, and then I needed something new to play to purge my brain of Last of Us 2 trauma. Apparently my oldest remaining save was from the start of chapter 2 and it was from December 2020. I'm only just approaching the epilogue now. I've clearly taken my time and I think it's been more enjoyable than it might have been if I put in immense grinding sessions. I think I've enjoyed it a lot more than any GTA game too because the story and character writing was exceptional, plus the "western" era was something new to me. I almost didn't buy it because I'd never played the first one, but my friend said it was a prequel and that made me think "oh okay, I've got no excuse then" lol
@@RL- I love TLOU2 personally, but it is not a fun story to experience over and over again. RDR2 definitely balanced the serious parts of Arthur's story with the fun so dang well that I could pop it in and play a few missions any time honestly. I still haven't played the original game, but I took a chance on this one 4 years ago and I'm so glad I did.
@@timpage9424 it's an incredibly well made game - absolutely industry leading in ways - but the story is what made the entire thing ridiculous for me, aside from when the flashback scenes popped up. I couldn't even really appreciate the scenery, the voice acting, the animations and all that other stuff properly because the story killed it for me so early. Once I realised I couldn't get a refund on my digital purchase I just finished it on autopilot and uninstalled it. I guess I'm the complete opposite because I only played the first game by chance - I'd been on Xbox prior to buying my PS4, and it came free with that; I didn't really know anything about TLoU before that. But it was so incredible I just replayed it over and over again while hoping for a second game for years, and once I was done enduring TLoU2 I wished I hadn't bothered hoping and waiting after all. And now Sony has the audacity to charge 70+ for a remake of the first game, which just seems like a lazy cash grab since it won't even include the excellent Factions mode that I couldn't get to experience fully as I played TLoU late and the player base was already fading away by that point. I'm still pissed I couldn't get my platinum trophy because of that lol. But since you haven't played it before I imagine it'd be well worth buying the new version to experience that masterpiece in all its shinier, prettier glory. I just don't see myself being able to trust or justify giving money to them again. They dumped all over the legacy of that first game.
I have one issue with this game though, which is the crime system. It feels like this game is gearing for you to do your own crazy heists the whole game, but for some reason, there's pretty much no way to rob a train without immediately getting a massive bounty, unless you do the weird hacky workaround of doing the heist in a tunnel, which doesn't make any sense. Yeah I really wish we were able to do train heists especially with the gang. Just make the payout lower than mission heists. Like 1 method could be get intel then board a train with the girls and start a heist when at a marked location where the others are waiting. The crime system is awful and not explained well so feel for console players as I had to use mods to fix it.
The horse mechanics are truly amazing...the simple ability to speed up or slow down to so many levels of speed....galloping at medium speed past a pretty field...slowing to a trot approaching a town and eventually to a slow walk watching all the npcs go about their business...it's one of the most satisfying open worlds to just roam around in
I finally played this again since the very superficial play through I did when it first came out. I truly forgot the pure joy of time just slipping away as I play this game and do absolutely nothing while accomplishing a lot. This time around, I find that I’m enjoying all the little side activities. Collecting the cards. Following through with the famous gunslingers. Hunting the giant animals. Finding the camp item requests. I found Sadie’s harmonica while rifling through a random house by pure luck.
I always remember the conversation between Arthur and the Nun lady on the train station. Arthur is so human. He is so flawed, and yet so righteous with his peers and some unknown people. Even looks like he really existed in this era.
i think red dead redemption 2 is in terms of immersion and desire to just experience what the world has to offer, the best game i’ve ever played. going for all of the legendary fish and animals was absolutely amazing, one of the best experiences i’ve had with a game and made me feel as if i was actually hunting and fishing. they don’t show you exactly where they are on the map like a ubisoft game would, they show you generally where they might be, and it’s your job to track them and get them. same with the treasure maps. finding a map and then actually discovering the treasure once discovering the location on your own felt amazing. making sure you planned ahead as to not get caught in the heat with some heavy warm clothes on or in the snow in little clothing, making sure to check which bait is best for which species of fish, tracking the legendary animals right up until the point of stumbling across them and then the gratification of skinning them to signify a successful hunt. nothing compares. my experience and amazing memories of this game are exactly why i have such a hard time saying elden ring is my favourite game of all time. because aside from their genre, they have almost nothing in common. they have such different things to offer and generate a completely different experience and set of emotions to the point that comparing the two titles feels counterproductive and does a disservice to each title.
Yeah those are both really great games, but in terms of like broader storytelling and emotional resonance, rdr2 really takes the cake for me. I think that it's one of the best modern westerns (including movies as well) and just such a touching story.
@@cowboy4187 i agree. rdr2 on a lot of fronts is the best game i’ve ever played. but then again i can say the same about elden ring. where i’ve come to shy away from having a “best game ever” is in direct comparison of all of my favourite titles, i’ve come to realize that putting two things that aren’t alike together in a vacuum only proves really how different they are rather than proving one’s superiority over another. i’ve just come to realize not naming a favourite or at least not coming to a “favourite” by process of comparison and just solely going off of the experience delivered and emotion evoked i can arrive at a conclusion without watering down or lessening the experience i’ve had with another.

@@mrfrench821 Graphics-wise it does look that way. But personally I don’t enjoy souls-like games or combat. Also, I doubt Elden Ring has the survival, hunting, fishing, and cooking aspects that I enjoy in RDR2 has but I could be wrong.
Sadly i doubt Rockstar will make a movie or Tv show. They already said no to making a GTA type movie because it breaks the purpose of the freedom you have in a video game. Good thing they already are like movies.
RDR2 is probably the only game that I actually want to see made into a live adaptation. And for them to keep the story the exact same. It’s like a classic western, and I believe people who would never play the game or games in general would love the story the same as we do.
I'm doing an evil run with a psycho long-bearded, shirtless Arthur armed with only arrows and axes while riding a donkey. It would be much harder to do this without mods.
My 11 year old daughter absolutely fell in love with this game when i bought it for rhe first time on ps4, probably bc she was obsessed with horses at the time? She still plays it on her xbox series s and finds new stuff all the time. I recently bought it on the cheap for my own series s and my kid is basically re teaching me how to play!
The most alive and detailed open world I have ever played with the best NPC interaction. The Open world really gave me a sense of discovery That so few games have still found new things on a 5th playthrough. The activites really added variety. Side missions also had allot vaierty and some added to Arthurs Character. The Open world wildlife is incredible its like watching a nature dock. The World of RDR2 really made me feel like I was living im it which only Kingdom Come has manged to do. The Story is one of the best I have experienced And the camp systems adds allot to the story. Over all amazing open world which blew me away.
yes, even without watching yet, i can tell you it's a masterpiece of a engineering and technical marvel. never played anything of the sort, it blew my mind, i was so immersed! if ppl ever asked me (no one ever have) what is the best/perfect game? it's red dead redemption 2, it's not perfect (no game is) but it raises above the rest.

This game is top-notch, one of THE greatest games of all time. Excellent story, innovative gameplay, and a deep level of immersion that no other game has been able achieve. The level of detail in this game is incredible, it really feels like you are there existing in that time period when you are playing the game, it is different when you hear about it, but once you have that controller in your hands you are deeply immersed. I'm convinced those devs at Rockstar are Wizards.
When I first started, I was playing as a dastardly bandit, just going around mean mugging and trying to find a problem. But as the story progressed and Mr. Morgan started getting sick, my whole style changed. I slowly started trying to stall main missions to sake of side content more and more the deeper the chapters I went. It was like knowing an untimely end was just upon the horizon and I just didn’t want to face it, not with how I was acting prior. I needed to make “amends” I needed to stretch life out just a little bit longer to really make an impact before the end. Knowing the gang was gonna be destroyed by the end of the game made it even more daunting. The ending captures the perfect ending for the story. Going from bad guy to honorable soul. I Lowkey think that’s the definite way to play. Starting off rough and changing over time, as the impact on the story was felt at a greater depth.
I recently got back into RDR2 for the third time. I had never progressed past the 2nd chapter mostly due to just the time investment at the time and getting sidetracked by other games. I was let go from a job in June and decided to play the game as I worked on finding a job and interviewing. I was so engrossed in the story and exploring the world. It was such a great game and story. Amazing!
Arthur Morgan felt like such a real human, I was genuinely upset when his story ended. The side story missions that involved Arthur and random side characters were the highlight of the game for me. The main story was great but could’ve been trimmed a bit here and there, but the side quests were crazy immersive and memorable for me. Such a great experience.
I just played through RDR2 again on a high end PC after playing through twice on PS4 after release. The game is unbelievably polished and looks amazing on PC once you dial it it. It really was such a well made game, even if you don't like westerns it's just super impressive. I had no crashes or issues running the game. Adjusting the AA/sharpness and the rest of the settings was a pain because it looked blurry as hell at first. You can really get it looking great though, there are some good settings guides out there.
I play the game on a GTX 1050, and it runs fine at around 30-40FPS at 900p. I experience numerous glitches when changing graphical settings though such as DX12 not allowing me to change settings at all (it crashes to 1FPS when I tinker with settings) and the resolution scale and TAA keeps resetting each time I launch the game.
I feel you man, I’m replaying a lot of games on a high end PC right now. Im blown away. So much wasted time on laggy console garbage. Never again. I don’t even have that great of a graphics card and I’m already out performing the PS5. 🤣
@@had1_awresomboss246 i dont think its a gpu that outperforms the ps5. I think its a gpu that is on par with it. red dead redemption 2 is still 30fps on ps5 so if you want a higher fps you have to play it on pc. and so many games are like that in that regard
@@sweetbabyrayso5262 the thing with pc is you either have a 3080 or 3090 so that you can outperform a ps5 at everything meanwhile other gpu can have higher fps but you need to compromise on graphics meanwhile ps5 will have high-ultra graphics with 4k rtx and hdr at 60fps so yea its good or you can turn off rtx and get 120fps all for 500 euros you said that your pc doesn't outperform a ps5 but probably paid more than 500 euros anyways you get higher fps than a ps5 but at 1080p no rtx also low graphics and you can with a 500 euro pc but if you turn on rtx and 4k and hdr just like in the ps5 you are gonna get less than 30 fps remember that making one ps5 costs way more than 500 euros but they sell it cheaper and loose money but gain it back with ps plus and even profit so of course your pc doesn't outperform a ps5 that is why I even asked the question to see if you would say I have a 1080ti and thought that it could outperform a ps5 or a 3090 and tell you that you have a pc way more powerful than a ps5
It’s my favorite by a long shot. It’s hard for me to play it again because of how much I loved that first play through. The emotional ride was first class and has captivated me since.
There are a couple of games I have a love-hate relationship with, but I think RDR2 has the widest gap between love and hate for me. I always say that for me to love an open world game I actually have to love being a part of it and therefore also act the way I would if I were actually a part of it. Case in point for this game: I never gallop through towns/villages, I treat my horse kindly, I greet people regularly, etc, not because it brings me good karma, but because that's the way I would act in that world, and it brings me joy to act this way in the game. Perfect immersion. However... the actual quests from the missions completely through me out of this immersion every single time, because they allow for absolute zero creativity and are entirely reliant on scripted events which pisses me off to no end. They become more of an interactive movie at times (the entire Guama mission to me is just one interactive movie to be honest - right at the beginning you actually have to hold down the 'walk' button, which to me is just equivalent to holding down the 'play' button while watching a movie). One mission I like to bring up as an example for this is the one in which you have to free a friend from a military fort. The reason why is because there are very similar missions in AC:Odyssey. In RDR2 you are made to go to the fort at a very certain time, your companion tells you EXACTLY which enemy to kill in which order and in which fashion until you've killed enough enemies until you have to create EXACTLY the distraction that your companion tells you to create from which the scripted chaos ensues which leads to the scripted use of the mounted minigun destroying the wall for an escape. Do ANYTHING else and the mission fails. In similar missions in AC:Odyssey it's entirely up to you how you get the prisoner out of a fort (and to be honest, as much as I love Odyssey, I wouldn't even hold that game up as a fantastically free open world game, but in comparison to RDR2 missions, it definitely is). This has been modus operandi for Rockstar for a while now and I really do hope they back away from this type of mission gameplay for future GTA and RDR releases, because they do create absolutely fantastic worlds, but the missions they make for them are honestly beyond subpar in my opinion. BUT: before you respond: opinions differ and this is just my own - don't feel attacked just because I voiced mine ;)
No attacked feeling from me :) I love that people can both love and criticise the game-can you imagine if that was incorporated into making an even better RDR3? …I commented this elsewhere, but every now and then an unexpected alternative mission path opened up for Arthur, I think when his honour was way higher than a player typically might be at that stage in the game. It hasn’t happened a lot, but I wish it did. I’ve made peace with there being certain immutable scenes in Arthur’s life. Like being in a super-persnickety and cranky Animus.
@@SPQRKlio I definitely love that there are certain moments in the game that are dependent on the way you've acted before - wish there was more of that, definitely! To clarify: I don't expect the game to be an incredibly complex RPG in which every single action has long lasting consequences. I'm just for giving players the basic freedom during missions that so many other games are able to provide.
the reason why missions are like that is because of cutscenes and sometimes even mission itself imagine you are told to chop some wood but instead you try to use creativity and you take your horse and go for a walk it's called freedom but how is that gonna finish the mission and you need the chopped wood for a lifesaving event what is gonna happen is another gang member will do it and this Was an example but it happens in some missions and you also said in guarma you are forced to walk with the chains guess what you don't have to like really try it something cool will happen

In 2 years I’ve only done 1 play through. That’s how good the immersion and free roam is. I just roam the vast and changing landscapes hunting, robbing, getting in shootouts with the law etc.. just being a gunslinger. I got the seats mod so Arthur (or John) can lean against walls and sit in chairs everywhere. Nothing like leaning against the homestead with the ranchers at emerald ranch on a foggy night while they smoke and play harmonicas while bounty hunters ride into town. Listening to the music stop. Ranchers start looking around wondering who they’re after. Then scattering when a ferocious gunfight ensues in their tranquil streets, and distant lightning lights up the foggy night.
Rdr2 is one of the greatest pieces of art i have ever consumed riding your horse through an open field or city/town in this game looks like a moving painting its exquisite 👌
This game is exactly what gaming is all about. Best game of all time imo. There hasn't been a greater story in all of entertainment since Lord of the Rings. The only flaw in the game is sadie adler.
So glad you pointed out the duplicates on the list. I was looking through that list recently, as I wanted to play some of the highest rated games I never got around to playing/finishing (currently playing Half-Life 2: Episode 2) and thought it was weird that multiple different console iterations of the same game were counted for a spot. Red Dead Redemption 2 was to be next on my list though, you definitely convinced me because I definitely felt the opening was a slog to get through but I’ll push through!
I almost stopped in the tutorial chapter, but was encouraged to continue. I adjusted all my aiming and shooting-while-riding settings and it was like a whole new controls experience, then the story put my emotions in a bear trap.
I bought this year's ago for my PS4 Pro but for whatever reason just haven't played it yet. I very much appreciated your perspective on this amazing experience 4 years after it launched, I see now that I must delve into it wholeheartedly!
Life can get busy but really man try to reserve like an hour or so a night for this. Even if you bum rush the whole main story there is an amazing experience in this game
One of my favourite thing to do in this game and what made me LOVE Arthur is to just stop for a moment and read his journal. Everything that happened in the story is summarized in there with Arthur input and feelings and beautiful drawing. Everytime you discover a new plant or a new animal there will be a new drawing in the journal. I don't why but the fact that a buff grumpy middle age man likes to sit down and draw animals, flowers and places makes him so endearing to me.
I love how NPCs interact with the environment, I once stumbled upon the Face Rock in Scarlet Meadow with a Guy on his horse just standing on top of the world in the same way a Player might do to get a good view of the area. It's moments like that which stick with me from this game.
Nothing.. been literally playing this game for 4 years straight, still growing strong... Bought a gaming PC special for this masterpiece, and modding it is loads of fun.. this game is literally my 2nd life. Ive spent around 1500 hours on epilogue, just living life as John Marston. Might start a new playthrough soon. I miss Arthur really badly
I bought ps 4 pro cause of this game , i reached level 1000 online and 3 times 100% completition without any single things undone , left Man , it was a hell of a ride , love this game On my first playthrough ive cried This is just a fuckin* masterpiece There is so much to do , you can play this game for long period of time with jawbreaking moments, world is not empty if you are playing it right Love the fact that this platinum trophy takes for ages and its hard to accomplish , try it … it fun
happy to find someone that has a platinum trophy in rdr2 because I have it too and I timed it perfectly with my birthday so at exactly 00:00 in the night of 11 April I got the platinum with the cutscene where John is in the grave of Arthur and says guess it's just about done my friend how big of a fan you'd have to be to time it like that, now I still play it but I do videogame photography and sell rdr2 photomode screenshots for money and rdr2 won a photography contest not thanks to me but you know I'm happy for it I would like to show you some of my work but idk how
It’s Incredible how even after playing the game for 250 hours and getting the platinum trophy on PS, I still manage to find new things in this game. But you forget a very important detail of critique that a lot of people tend to mention while playing this game - chunky controls. You can over-run or walk your destination, your horse won’t respond to jumping, everything is so slow (I get it’s because of “realism, immersion”), but it kinda ruins the gameplay. But again, there are few games out there that can complete the formula. You either sacrifice realism to create a game with good gameplay (Uncharted franchise, my favorite though), or you sacrifice gameplay to create realism (RDR2)
Red Dead Redemption 2 is an absolute masterpiece, the story is one of the most powerful ones I have ever seen in a game, Arthur Morgan is the best protagonist created by Rockstar Games, he has so much depth, you really feel like your on the journey with him throughout the game, the open world, man you could spend hours upon hours exploring the gorgeous world, no game since has come close to it in my opinion, even 4 years on the game still is a joy to play, Rockstar Games best game and my personal favorite game of all time, a timeless classic 👏👏👏👏
Been playing video games since pong. Had an Atari 2600 the year it launched. Been playing a LOT of video games on a lot of platforms for a looooooong time. RDR2 is EASILY hands down the best video game I've ever played. Period.
Even after a few years, the fact that theres still things I wanna do in this games that i already did before but wanna relive it, makes this game just one of the most rarest experiences I've ever lived through with and it's amazing.... I really hope that we'll get a RDR3 in the future but its just as immensely thorough as RDR2, a masterpiece. Straight up 10/10 for me, its everything I wanted and never knew I wanted in an open world game. Amazing.
This is one of those great type of games, where i wish i could go in for the first time again. Its a timeless gem that hopefully will be praised still in the future
Me and my uncle are currently replaying through the story again on our own and still to this day we have stories from the game that we never heard of or even seen
this game made me do something I've never done (not even in the witcher 3 which is my favorite game). I just mounted my horse and rode with no destination, I just went wherever I could. and I enjoyed the vibe so much.

That ride back to Shady Bell after returning from *that place* after *that heist* in Saint Denis is probably the single most powerful moment I've ever experienced in a video game. D'Angelo kicks in, the storm clouds billow overhead, and I popped into cinematic mode and just sat there in a trance. Red Dead 2 is an undeniable achievement in interactive storytelling.
I said this to my friend yesterday. It was like watching a western, an epic. This should be the gold standard for video game story telling.
In my first playthrough I was like "what is this?" and I went into cinematic mode and watched. In my second playthrough I almost forgot this would happen and got the chills. So I went into cinematic mode and almost cried.

I was reminded of how my great grandpa came from nothing and worked real hard, he loved westerns. Wish I could've shown him this game. It is and forever will be my favorite game of all time.
I played this game during my exam period so I didn’t have to get caught up with mechanics, the last single player story based game I played was just cause 3, and before that there was nothing. It was however one of the best story experiences I’ve ever had, that part in particular had me leaning back in my chair and simply welling up because you could feel the atmosphere
In my opinion, this is the closest we've gotten to the perfect game. The gameplay, story, characters, atmosphere, world, sound design, and graphics are all just absolutely incredible. There are plenty of other games I love to play but this game has set the bar so high that none of them ever even come close to scratching the same itch red dead 2 does
And thing is its 4 years old and nothing is really that close to it atleast for me sadly i didn't like gow that much im an open world whore so im really hoping gta 6 will be the same level atleast

@@malachiolmstead I think (having played both) GoW is the closer game-y game to perfection. Decently linear, side quests, good combat system, etc., where as RDR2 is a very immersive, realistic game. It goes through the change of a man, (Arthur Morgan) as he (based on the player) changes, and regains his morality, or worsens, and becomes rotten. Both very good games, just in different ways.
@@finn.25 yeah i definitely agree rdr2 is still one of my favorite games of all time I've played it like 3-4 times now and same with GoW although i think I've played GoW more but thats also cause ragnerok is finally coming out so I'm replaying it again. I just think i noticed more problems in rdr2 then i did in GoW like rdr2 had more bugs and sometimes clunky controls i didn't really have anything buggy happen in GoW (althought after kicking a chain and having to climb it is annoying and a little clunky) but they are a 9.8/10 and 9.9/10 with GoW taking the win imo. Both very different style of games but both doing it at a very high level
I agree! I feel the same about Horizon Zero Dawn - such a stunning game. So I was delighted when I stumbled onto Red Dead 2, though they are very different from one another. I simply think that they have such great stories which I haven’t found in many games yet… and to me that’s basically the most important aspect of any video game. 😊😅
I returned to gaming after 15 years out, and the first game I played was RDR2 and I thought “oh wow so this is how the average game is now!? Amazing!” I was mistaken.
Have a similar story to yours haha. Last console I owned was the original Xbox and gave it to my best friend in 06 and never owned another console until the new PS5 I bought July of last year. Played Last of Us 1, Ghost of Tsushima, Uncharted 4, Sniper Elite 4 and then Witcher 3 . Bought digital copy of RDR2 last January rushing through it getting to the end and trying to move onto Elden Ring, God of War but after playing as Arthur Morgan in the final days of the Wild West, nothing (for me) compares to the experience RDR2 has given me. On my 15th playthrough now 😄 on Version 1.00 (bought the disk), spent 2 months in Chapter 2 and in Chapter 4, I used Angelo Brontë glitch (v1) to get Arthur safely into New Austin (no Invisible sniper) to hunt the remaining Legendary Animals, complete Herbalist 9 and collect last Dinosaur Bones, felt great to do that as Arthur. Gonna be hard for another game to take that # 1 spot for me.

I bought a system to play this game, and my first thought was, oh man things have come along way since Ocarina and Golden Eye The next game I bought was GTA V hoping it’d scratch that itch, and while it was fun, the world in RDII just felt so much more cartoony and dead. I’ve played a bunch of games since then, but none of them capture the novel in a game feel of RD II

You were majorly mistaken. This is the needle in the haystack. Elden Ring, RDR2, and Baldurs Gate 3 are my 3 top current gen games. RDR2 still feels current gen somehow, an unaware individual could be fooled into thinking it was released last week and know none the better.

this game is one of the most memorable experiences in a virtual world i've ever had . it is just pure brilliance and Rockstar really did change how i look at other devs, and how sometimes i feel the devs are lazy when i compare it to this masterpiece . The slow pacing and brilliantly dense scripts and dialogue interation and an ever changing world design , and the music , aaah the music . chef's kiss
my only issue with everything behind this game, and rockstar as a whole, is their crunch culture. otherwise yes i fully agree, this game is one of my only three modern 10/10s (we don't talk about the online)
I don't think it is fair to say that other developers are lazy. Those other developers don't have a 540 million dollars budget to play with.
RDR2 is awesome, but it is not just because the attention to detail. It is also the highest budget in a piece of entertainment ever. More than any other movie, series, video game, cartoon...

I don't think a lot of the developers are lazy though, most games have a focus and try to achieve that focus, this game's focus is the world and cinematic storytelling, which it thrives in, It doesn't mean other developers also have to focus on the same thing, right? This game is a masterpiece in its own way, but that doesn't mean every other game is bad, they do different things, like every game this game also has flaws and mediocre elements.
I agree with most everything except seeing other game devs as lazy. As Gustavo said, R* has an insane budget to hire on tons of people; the amount of hands that touched this game before it got to players is ridiculously high compared to devs with much smaller teams and budgets, hence why the credits are so long. We can praise a studio’s work without tearing others down.

Now that it has been almost been 4 years I can’t help but wonder if we’ll ever see a single player experience like RDR2 again... a budget of 500 million with this level of craft and dedication to the world, character, and the narrative. And basically everything else in between. I hope I’m wrong, but it may be a once in a lifetime game

Rockstar loves the concept of making the players to explore instead of spoon feeding their players. I mostly discovers cool things happening out in the middle of nowhere because I was collecting resources for Pearson.
They basically wanted to give each different players with different playstyle what they want. People that likes to roleplay and explore more will do anything to discover everything, but it won't be too much of a problem for people who's only in it for the story.
Like getting rammed into a tree by an elk on your 12th time thru the woods. So great.

That was my favorite thing about this game, the fact that there weren’t 1000 markers on a map. That it actively encouraged exploration and most of the encounters I had felt organic which cultivated a feeling of realism in the game. It fostered a sense of experiencing an event rather than just accomplishing a task like so many open world games feel like nowadays
I think those Ubisoft/Horizon games should make their maps more dynamic when you zoom in/out. If you look at the online map for RDR2 it looks exactly the same as the one of HFW he showed in the video but the game hides them until you zoom in
I'm on my 2nd playthru and still finding a bunch of stuff I missed by just being a few feet too far from seeing it. Even entire stranger missions and animals like iguanas I figured were only in Guarma and New Austin. You really are incentivized to explore by not being drowned in markers nagging you to do it.
Totally agree as most open world games feel like a chore now rather than a fun experience.
I'll never forget how long the end credits were. It's amazing how many people it takes for something like this to come together. Rd2 really is an achievement that should be lauded for years to come for the bar it set.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has some of the most engaging and believable story telling and characters of all time. I've seen this game make some of the hardest men I've ever known tear up at some points and burst out laughing at others.
i do not normally get upset at anything but man i just lost it when arthur said goodbye to the horse i had been riding around for 60 hours lol. like it felt like losing a real companion.

And RDR2 will always be an impressive game as the developers put just an incredible amount of work into the detail of the game that it will always be a game that most studios will have difficultly beating.

Arthur Morgan is my favorite videogame character ever. No contest, he is the most well developed character I have ever had the pleasure of playing as in a videogame. It is truly astounding how good the writing is for his character and the performance Roger Clark gives. I am on my fourth playthrough and I am getting to see sides of Arthur and hear lines of dialogue I never did in my first three. He's the only videogame protagonist I have played as that truly feels like a human being. We also see Arthur display a huge range of emotions throughout the story like anger, love for those he cares about, fear, and a lot of others. I could go in more depth but if you played the game you probably know. What an incredible character. He is on the level of Walter White and Jimmy McGill in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul in my opinion. He's that good and I honestly don't think other protagonists in games come even remotely close to beating him.

@@Wyttazs Completely disagree. I could not get into the Witcher 3 because I honestly didn't connect with the story. Arthur is a much more interesting, relatable, and charismatic character than Geralt. I do not think Geralt is that great of a protagonist. I played like 30 hours of Witcher 3 and did not connect with him.
@@jimmymurphy898 Geralts character was developed in 8 books even before games. After reading all the books and playing the games I just can't agree that character developed just trough one game could be better. Most people agree that Geralt is one of the best game characters ever.
@@Wyttazs I would counter that point by saying the Witcher 3 was supposed ro bring in a lot of new Witcher fans and attach them to its world and characters. When it came out it was more mainstream than any other Witcher game or book and in my opinion it failed. Rockstar managed to make Arthur Morgan compelling in one long videogame and give him the depth as a character usually only relegated to tv shows or novels. The fact that I have to consume all of this extra media out of the Witcher 3 to get a well developed Geralt proves to me Arthur is a better developed character. Rockstar was able to make one of the most compelling fictional characters ever in one game and I didn't have to consume any other piece of media to get that character development.
Roger Clark made Arthur. Fantastic job. 10/10, he really brought so much life to the character.

I played Witcher 3 and RDR2 back to back after RDR2 released. I had yet to try Witcher 3 till that point and i got the best gaming experience i have ever had with these 2 games playing them for the first time.
No spoilers for anyone who hasn’t played it. This game is my favorite game of all time, the story is 11/10. The amount of detail in this game still amazes me. There’s so many random encounters you can experience. sometimes I just hop on to explore locations and i always find something new with every play through. The stranger missions really delve deeper into the character of Arthur Morgan as well, but I like that you don’t have to play them in order to understand the full story. I’ve probably played the story 4-5 times and i always say “this time I’m going to do a low honor play through” but I always get so immersed in the story and characters I always play as an honorable Arthur. No game has gotten close to match RDR2 and no game ever will in my opinion. A true masterpiece.
Indeed, I find myself in every play-through gravitating toward high honor. Maybe it's just the way we see the world.
Easily the greatest game I've ever played, you didn't even get into the awesome fact that you can either greet or antagonize everyone you come across and some of the dialog that happens is just hilarious, and some might get you punched in the face or shot, very entertaining either way.
Red dead 2 imo has the best and most immersive world in games today, I lost count of how many times I’d put my controller down just for a second to look away only to hear an NPC trying to talk to me or gunshots in the distance, the world feels so alive and natural, hope this game gets a 60fps update at some point.
I remember that I bought RDR 2 in January 2020 and I couldn't have timed it better. The story, the game mechanics, the vividness of the world and how immersive it can get is truly hard to match. I remember some times when I wanted to do the missions but I ended up fishing and hunting. It's one of those games you want to forget so you can experience it all again for the first time.
one of the things I love about this game is even though the map looks empty, in reality the entire game world is absolutely dangerous. there's nothing scarier than going through the swamps at night because you don't know what you'll run into, whether it be night folk, a gator, or a ghost. going through the swamps at night still gives me goosebumps to this day

Honestly RDR2 is the most *complete* game imo. Everything in the game feels right. From the body movements to the horse movements.
All the fighting that's capable in it is seemless and just...fits. everything just fits so well.
The only thing I don’t like is the missions are repetitive and don’t give you much freedom
except the connection to rdr1.

Just as you said, almost 4 years passed a lot has changed, but the one thing that didn't changed is the vibe of this game. this is the kind of game I always dreamed of when I was a kid. The game where you can do whatever you want, where there is so much to do. Everything you can imagine. In a realistic western way. Not zombie, not horror, not fantasy just dirty guns and blood. And when this came out the dream came true. I realized it a few months after finishing the game. I hope that one day, something similiar will be crafted so again we could make our child dreams of a game fullfill.
This game is hands down my favorite game of all time! I played this game to the absolute max. Squeezed every bit of the experience I could. Hunting, fishing, exploring every corner of the map. I'd wait to complete missions I knew would move the story forward until I played that point of the game for 50 hours. I'm afraid to look at how many hours I have on this game. I bought it the day it came out and I played it regularly on the same story for the last 4 years. I finally finished the last mission 2 weeks ago. I have so many memories of discovering something in the game and getting so hyped! I don't think I've ever or will ever again get lost in a game like I did this one. You wanna talk about a completionist whenever a stranger or character asked for items to craft something I usually already had several of what they were looking for. Crazy...

I believe this game is truly a one-of-a-kind experience, something we will never have again. Games like this might genuinely be once in a lifetime, or at least the kind of game we don’t see for another ten to fifteen years or so. It’s certainly the last game of any quality we see from rockstar, let alone this kind of quality

I started from scratch & having a ball. I've played a bunch of hours already & I haven't even did 10 missions yet. It's just soooo much to do that has nothing to fo with game. Then it's even krazier how u can just explore random spots. I never really look at the map to see what it says outside of me going to the actual mission. Now I have to zoom in & look at what it says. It may just say "Johnsons Cabin" & u go & may find something valuable. My thing now is to stack up my money so that's what I'ven been doing. I've learned so much watching TH-cam videos. I played this game by the book last time but now I know I don't have to follow exactly what the the game says. I've never played a game that was this free. It almost like a real world of just life. This time around I'm going to spend alot more time at camp & I'm going to read my journal now as I go

What an incredible game. It really is the subtle details that might get overlooked, like the way the sound of the horses' hooves change on different landscapes. You can hear the crunching of snow up in the mountains. Bravo RDR2, bravo. 👏
I just finished the game (epilogue 2 completed) and left perplexed... It was easily the most detailed, most heavy hearted game I have ever played. The amount of work Rockstar put in this game was mind numbing and to say the least, this is why we fell in love with gaming at the first place.
The immersion in this game is better than any other game in existence.
This game is so good I cried my eyes out when Arthur had his last stand. It was just so damn emotional and good, up there with the best movies or shows I've ever watched. You and your wife are a great looking couple btw man.
It has that iconic feel to it. Like it’s a story that had to be told, or was meant to be, if that makes any sense.
Another great moment, my first play through, when Arthur begins his final ride, and the music kicks in.
Countless games out there where the average person won’t even remember the story. Or where the story only really exists so that you can play the game. But RDR2, especially that first time, that’s not something you’ll just forget.

I played storyline up until epilogue, never played the online, so then i tried the online, and quickly found it's not my cup of tea, so i went back to storyline to finish out the game
@@kcktodd303 you should have joined our posse, we set up a group of none greifers numbering over 100 who played most days together it was really fun until the updates stopped then the numbers slowly fell off and now even I haven't played for a few months, we mainly play fortnite or fall guys together to keep in touch, it's sad really cos we all love red dead some have literally grinded to millions of dollars and thousands of gold bars for nothing 😔

As a gamer, this game honestly made me feel more comfortable and mature with life. The first time I played it I did 3 missions and put it away. Forgot about it. Well, just last year I started gaming again after not, for 5 years. But also I didn't rush myself through the game. At times I would just get on my horse and go fish different locations for hours and hours. Adventuring and watching the sunsets 🌇 and sunrise 🌅. Rockstar knows they made a gem 💎 and as gamers we understand that fully. When Arthur died, I teared up a little cause throughout the whole game, he shows the integrity and eholesomeness as a character, when he did die, I got the feeling of when I watched my papa pass, and immediately went and found his grave in the game, shaken. Realizing how powerful this game was, and will forever be. And maybe in another year or two I'll relive this game. And experience a different love for the game. 🎮
Hands down my favorite video game ever made. Easily holds my attention for hours on end and I always love coming back to it. I've played through twice now, soon to start my 3rd time and I learn new stuff with each playthrough. I like other games but I love this game.

My favourite part of the game is at valentine at night when stars are out and the mud physics of the the street there are phenomenal, it truly felt like I was there, I love this game so much
RDR2 was so good at just making you slow down. I get why some people didn’t like how slow some things felt, but it lends itself to the immersion.
The slowness of the mechanics means you’re never in a hurry (if you embrace it) and that, to me, is what made me feel comfortable just fishing, playing poker, talking to the gang, etc.
And that's part of the problem forcing the player to play a certain way. Where's as RDR 1 there was much more freedom in play style.

Any choice is going to have those who like and dislike it but I have to assume they knew what they were doing.
You want it be slower afterwards. Most people have little patience. Rdr2 is not a game for little fortnite kids, it expects some "maturity" from the player.There is an organic fast travel system in rdr2 which people don't even know exists.

I still remember this one absolutely random moment from the game. The sun was setting, so really beautiful color palette, I’m in the country side, beautiful nature all around, very slowly riding a horse, taking it easy, and suddenly the game starts playing a really nice music. I sped the horse up a bit to match the rhythm of the music. It was a really nice relaxing moment, completely random, did not need a quest or an npc to enjoy it
I really love that the game is slower paced than the usual games. It made me appreciate all the small or big things. When riding your horse toward a new destination you usually end up riding like 5 minutes and it could be that nothing happens at all. But if something happens you will be surprised and you will remember that for sure. You might end up doing something completely different forgetting what you had planned. Those long rides made me think about what happened just before perhaps rockstar wanted me to think about my decisions. The game is imo the best. The music is spot on.
This is the kind of game you need to fully experience before you die. I have it both on ps4 and pc but i never had the time to actually start engaging with it for more than a couple of hours and i really want to.
Do it man, even if it takes you forever to play through it all.
I’ve never played any other game where I’ve just went “you know what, I’m going on a hunting/camping trip, let me get everything I need together and set out tomorrow”. The fact that it has an incredible story is just something else.

I have spent almost over 279+ hours in this game, have gotten it in 2020 and I am still having fun with it. I don't know how often I have played the story through but I am currently trying to get the 100%. This game is art.

This game is THE BEST gaming experience I’ve ever had. I’m on my 5th (or 6th?) play through and I still find myself just getting lost in a world that continues to offer me new experiences. The story and characters are incredible. I love that the game lets you make Arthur Morgan whatever kind of man you want because it makes the emotions real for both he and the player
I’ve replayed it enough to get annoyed with small bugs like side missions/ events in town not triggering and some conversations and camp encounters just not triggering for me anymore past the initial playthrough I did, but I’ve found enough stuff and new experiences that have made this easily one of the best games ever with insane replay value.
I remember not playing video games for months after finishing RDR2.
it took me a month and a half to beat it and nothing came close to the experience afterwards.

I'm still playing it. I didn't discover it until late - Kingdom Come Deliverance was my main game over the long term until Ghost of Tsushima came out, and then I needed something new to play to purge my brain of Last of Us 2 trauma. Apparently my oldest remaining save was from the start of chapter 2 and it was from December 2020. I'm only just approaching the epilogue now. I've clearly taken my time and I think it's been more enjoyable than it might have been if I put in immense grinding sessions. I think I've enjoyed it a lot more than any GTA game too because the story and character writing was exceptional, plus the "western" era was something new to me.
I almost didn't buy it because I'd never played the first one, but my friend said it was a prequel and that made me think "oh okay, I've got no excuse then" lol

RDR2 definitely balanced the serious parts of Arthur's story with the fun so dang well that I could pop it in and play a few missions any time honestly.
I still haven't played the original game, but I took a chance on this one 4 years ago and I'm so glad I did.
@@timpage9424 it's an incredibly well made game - absolutely industry leading in ways - but the story is what made the entire thing ridiculous for me, aside from when the flashback scenes popped up. I couldn't even really appreciate the scenery, the voice acting, the animations and all that other stuff properly because the story killed it for me so early. Once I realised I couldn't get a refund on my digital purchase I just finished it on autopilot and uninstalled it.
I guess I'm the complete opposite because I only played the first game by chance - I'd been on Xbox prior to buying my PS4, and it came free with that; I didn't really know anything about TLoU before that. But it was so incredible I just replayed it over and over again while hoping for a second game for years, and once I was done enduring TLoU2 I wished I hadn't bothered hoping and waiting after all.
And now Sony has the audacity to charge 70+ for a remake of the first game, which just seems like a lazy cash grab since it won't even include the excellent Factions mode that I couldn't get to experience fully as I played TLoU late and the player base was already fading away by that point. I'm still pissed I couldn't get my platinum trophy because of that lol. But since you haven't played it before I imagine it'd be well worth buying the new version to experience that masterpiece in all its shinier, prettier glory. I just don't see myself being able to trust or justify giving money to them again. They dumped all over the legacy of that first game.
I just wanna say that the relationship you have with your wife and how y'all interact with eachother is adorable and I love it.
I have one issue with this game though, which is the crime system. It feels like this game is gearing for you to do your own crazy heists the whole game, but for some reason, there's pretty much no way to rob a train without immediately getting a massive bounty, unless you do the weird hacky workaround of doing the heist in a tunnel, which doesn't make any sense. Also there are some crimes which immediately spawn law enforcers no matter how far you are from society, which really butters my bread
Yeah I really wish we were able to do train heists especially with the gang. Just make the payout lower than mission heists. Like 1 method could be get intel then board a train with the girls and start a heist when at a marked location where the others are waiting.
The crime system is awful and not explained well so feel for console players as I had to use mods to fix it.
The horse mechanics are truly amazing...the simple ability to speed up or slow down to so many levels of speed....galloping at medium speed past a pretty field...slowing to a trot approaching a town and eventually to a slow walk watching all the npcs go about their business...it's one of the most satisfying open worlds to just roam around in
I finally played this again since the very superficial play through I did when it first came out.
I truly forgot the pure joy of time just slipping away as I play this game and do absolutely nothing while accomplishing a lot. This time around, I find that I’m enjoying all the little side activities. Collecting the cards. Following through with the famous gunslingers. Hunting the giant animals. Finding the camp item requests. I found Sadie’s harmonica while rifling through a random house by pure luck.
4 years after its launched I'm still playing the story mode , and I still say it's the greatest game ever made, and there is no close 2nd
If you enjoy this story driven game try The Last of Us. (Not that POS TLOU2). Liberalism got the best of that one, but the original is AMAZING.

I always remember the conversation between Arthur and the Nun lady on the train station. Arthur is so human. He is so flawed, and yet so righteous with his peers and some unknown people. Even looks like he really existed in this era.

i think red dead redemption 2 is in terms of immersion and desire to just experience what the world has to offer, the best game i’ve ever played. going for all of the legendary fish and animals was absolutely amazing, one of the best experiences i’ve had with a game and made me feel as if i was actually hunting and fishing. they don’t show you exactly where they are on the map like a ubisoft game would, they show you generally where they might be, and it’s your job to track them and get them. same with the treasure maps. finding a map and then actually discovering the treasure once discovering the location on your own felt amazing. making sure you planned ahead as to not get caught in the heat with some heavy warm clothes on or in the snow in little clothing, making sure to check which bait is best for which species of fish, tracking the legendary animals right up until the point of stumbling across them and then the gratification of skinning them to signify a successful hunt. nothing compares. my experience and amazing memories of this game are exactly why i have such a hard time saying elden ring is my favourite game of all time. because aside from their genre, they have almost nothing in common. they have such different things to offer and generate a completely different experience and set of emotions to the point that comparing the two titles feels counterproductive and does a disservice to each title.
Yeah those are both really great games, but in terms of like broader storytelling and emotional resonance, rdr2 really takes the cake for me. I think that it's one of the best modern westerns (including movies as well) and just such a touching story.
@@cowboy4187 i agree. rdr2 on a lot of fronts is the best game i’ve ever played. but then again i can say the same about elden ring. where i’ve come to shy away from having a “best game ever” is in direct comparison of all of my favourite titles, i’ve come to realize that putting two things that aren’t alike together in a vacuum only proves really how different they are rather than proving one’s superiority over another. i’ve just come to realize not naming a favourite or at least not coming to a “favourite” by process of comparison and just solely going off of the experience delivered and emotion evoked i can arrive at a conclusion without watering down or lessening the experience i’ve had with another.

RDR2 is my favorite game of all time. I've yet to play Elden Ring but have heard similar things about it that were said about RDR2.
@@mrfrench821 Graphics-wise it does look that way. But personally I don’t enjoy souls-like games or combat. Also, I doubt Elden Ring has the survival, hunting, fishing, and cooking aspects that I enjoy in RDR2 has but I could be wrong.
Red dead redemption 1 & 2 of all video games DESERVES to be made into a movie series or a TV Series. The best story telling i have ever seen.
Sadly i doubt Rockstar will make a movie or Tv show. They already said no to making a GTA type movie because it breaks the purpose of the freedom you have in a video game. Good thing they already are like movies.
RDR2 is probably the only game that I actually want to see made into a live adaptation. And for them to keep the story the exact same. It’s like a classic western, and I believe people who would never play the game or games in general would love the story the same as we do.

I'm doing an evil run with a psycho long-bearded, shirtless Arthur armed with only arrows and axes while riding a donkey.
It would be much harder to do this without mods.
My 11 year old daughter absolutely fell in love with this game when i bought it for rhe first time on ps4, probably bc she was obsessed with horses at the time? She still plays it on her xbox series s and finds new stuff all the time. I recently bought it on the cheap for my own series s and my kid is basically re teaching me how to play!

The most alive and detailed open world I have ever played with the best NPC interaction. The Open world really gave me a sense of discovery That so few games have still found new things on a 5th playthrough. The activites really added variety. Side missions also had allot vaierty and some added to Arthurs Character. The Open world wildlife is incredible its like watching a nature dock. The World of RDR2 really made me feel like I was living im it which only Kingdom Come has manged to do. The Story is one of the best I have experienced And the camp systems adds allot to the story. Over all amazing open world which blew me away.

never played anything of the sort, it blew my mind, i was so immersed! if ppl ever asked me (no one ever have) what is the best/perfect game? it's red dead redemption 2, it's not perfect (no game is) but it raises above the rest.

This game is top-notch, one of THE greatest games of all time. Excellent story, innovative gameplay, and a deep level of immersion that no other game has been able achieve. The level of detail in this game is incredible, it really feels like you are there existing in that time period when you are playing the game, it is different when you hear about it, but once you have that controller in your hands you are deeply immersed. I'm convinced those devs at Rockstar are Wizards.
An incredible game with incredible storytelling. Play this game, imbibe it slowly and savour every bit of it. It's a slow burn, but the story is epic.

When I first started, I was playing as a dastardly bandit, just going around mean mugging and trying to find a problem. But as the story progressed and Mr. Morgan started getting sick, my whole style changed. I slowly started trying to stall main missions to sake of side content more and more the deeper the chapters I went. It was like knowing an untimely end was just upon the horizon and I just didn’t want to face it, not with how I was acting prior. I needed to make “amends” I needed to stretch life out just a little bit longer to really make an impact before the end. Knowing the gang was gonna be destroyed by the end of the game made it even more daunting.
The ending captures the perfect ending for the story. Going from bad guy to honorable soul.
I Lowkey think that’s the definite way to play. Starting off rough and changing over time, as the impact on the story was felt at a greater depth.
I recently got back into RDR2 for the third time. I had never progressed past the 2nd chapter mostly due to just the time investment at the time and getting sidetracked by other games. I was let go from a job in June and decided to play the game as I worked on finding a job and interviewing. I was so engrossed in the story and exploring the world. It was such a great game and story. Amazing!
Arthur Morgan felt like such a real human, I was genuinely upset when his story ended. The side story missions that involved Arthur and random side characters were the highlight of the game for me. The main story was great but could’ve been trimmed a bit here and there, but the side quests were crazy immersive and memorable for me. Such a great experience.
I just played through RDR2 again on a high end PC after playing through twice on PS4 after release. The game is unbelievably polished and looks amazing on PC once you dial it it. It really was such a well made game, even if you don't like westerns it's just super impressive.
I had no crashes or issues running the game. Adjusting the AA/sharpness and the rest of the settings was a pain because it looked blurry as hell at first. You can really get it looking great though, there are some good settings guides out there.
I play the game on a GTX 1050, and it runs fine at around 30-40FPS at 900p. I experience numerous glitches when changing graphical settings though such as DX12 not allowing me to change settings at all (it crashes to 1FPS when I tinker with settings) and the resolution scale and TAA keeps resetting each time I launch the game.
I feel you man, I’m replaying a lot of games on a high end PC right now. Im blown away. So much wasted time on laggy console garbage. Never again. I don’t even have that great of a graphics card and I’m already out performing the PS5. 🤣

@@had1_awresomboss246 i dont think its a gpu that outperforms the ps5. I think its a gpu that is on par with it. red dead redemption 2 is still 30fps on ps5 so if you want a higher fps you have to play it on pc. and so many games are like that in that regard
@@sweetbabyrayso5262 the thing with pc is you either have a 3080 or 3090 so that you can outperform a ps5 at everything meanwhile other gpu can have higher fps but you need to compromise on graphics meanwhile ps5 will have high-ultra graphics with 4k rtx and hdr at 60fps so yea its good or you can turn off rtx and get 120fps all for 500 euros you said that your pc doesn't outperform a ps5 but probably paid more than 500 euros anyways you get higher fps than a ps5 but at 1080p no rtx also low graphics and you can with a 500 euro pc but if you turn on rtx and 4k and hdr just like in the ps5 you are gonna get less than 30 fps remember that making one ps5 costs way more than 500 euros but they sell it cheaper and loose money but gain it back with ps plus and even profit so of course your pc doesn't outperform a ps5 that is why I even asked the question to see if you would say I have a 1080ti and thought that it could outperform a ps5 or a 3090 and tell you that you have a pc way more powerful than a ps5
It’s my favorite by a long shot. It’s hard for me to play it again because of how much I loved that first play through. The emotional ride was first class and has captivated me since.

i will never get over how insane and detailed the map is.. the different types of areas, big city, woods, lakes, u name it... soooo much to explore..

There are a couple of games I have a love-hate relationship with, but I think RDR2 has the widest gap between love and hate for me. I always say that for me to love an open world game I actually have to love being a part of it and therefore also act the way I would if I were actually a part of it. Case in point for this game: I never gallop through towns/villages, I treat my horse kindly, I greet people regularly, etc, not because it brings me good karma, but because that's the way I would act in that world, and it brings me joy to act this way in the game. Perfect immersion.
However... the actual quests from the missions completely through me out of this immersion every single time, because they allow for absolute zero creativity and are entirely reliant on scripted events which pisses me off to no end. They become more of an interactive movie at times (the entire Guama mission to me is just one interactive movie to be honest - right at the beginning you actually have to hold down the 'walk' button, which to me is just equivalent to holding down the 'play' button while watching a movie).
One mission I like to bring up as an example for this is the one in which you have to free a friend from a military fort. The reason why is because there are very similar missions in AC:Odyssey. In RDR2 you are made to go to the fort at a very certain time, your companion tells you EXACTLY which enemy to kill in which order and in which fashion until you've killed enough enemies until you have to create EXACTLY the distraction that your companion tells you to create from which the scripted chaos ensues which leads to the scripted use of the mounted minigun destroying the wall for an escape. Do ANYTHING else and the mission fails.
In similar missions in AC:Odyssey it's entirely up to you how you get the prisoner out of a fort (and to be honest, as much as I love Odyssey, I wouldn't even hold that game up as a fantastically free open world game, but in comparison to RDR2 missions, it definitely is).
This has been modus operandi for Rockstar for a while now and I really do hope they back away from this type of mission gameplay for future GTA and RDR releases, because they do create absolutely fantastic worlds, but the missions they make for them are honestly beyond subpar in my opinion.
BUT: before you respond: opinions differ and this is just my own - don't feel attacked just because I voiced mine ;)
No attacked feeling from me :) I love that people can both love and criticise the game-can you imagine if that was incorporated into making an even better RDR3? …I commented this elsewhere, but every now and then an unexpected alternative mission path opened up for Arthur, I think when his honour was way higher than a player typically might be at that stage in the game. It hasn’t happened a lot, but I wish it did. I’ve made peace with there being certain immutable scenes in Arthur’s life. Like being in a super-persnickety and cranky Animus.

To clarify: I don't expect the game to be an incredibly complex RPG in which every single action has long lasting consequences. I'm just for giving players the basic freedom during missions that so many other games are able to provide.
the reason why missions are like that is because of cutscenes and sometimes even mission itself imagine you are told to chop some wood but instead you try to use creativity and you take your horse and go for a walk it's called freedom but how is that gonna finish the mission and you need the chopped wood for a lifesaving event what is gonna happen is another gang member will do it and this Was an example but it happens in some missions and you also said in guarma you are forced to walk with the chains guess what you don't have to like really try it something cool will happen

In 2 years I’ve only done 1 play through. That’s how good the immersion and free roam is. I just roam the vast and changing landscapes hunting, robbing, getting in shootouts with the law etc.. just being a gunslinger.
I got the seats mod so Arthur (or John) can lean against walls and sit in chairs everywhere.
Nothing like leaning against the homestead with the ranchers at emerald ranch on a foggy night while they smoke and play harmonicas while bounty hunters ride into town. Listening to the music stop. Ranchers start looking around wondering who they’re after. Then scattering when a ferocious gunfight ensues in their tranquil streets, and distant lightning lights up the foggy night.
Rdr2 is one of the greatest pieces of art i have ever consumed riding your horse through an open field or city/town in this game looks like a moving painting its exquisite 👌

So glad you pointed out the duplicates on the list. I was looking through that list recently, as I wanted to play some of the highest rated games I never got around to playing/finishing (currently playing Half-Life 2: Episode 2) and thought it was weird that multiple different console iterations of the same game were counted for a spot. Red Dead Redemption 2 was to be next on my list though, you definitely convinced me because I definitely felt the opening was a slog to get through but I’ll push through!
Yeah I hate RDR2 played 2 hours of it and did nothing watched a cutscebe and walked up a mountain.
I almost stopped in the tutorial chapter, but was encouraged to continue. I adjusted all my aiming and shooting-while-riding settings and it was like a whole new controls experience, then the story put my emotions in a bear trap.

Life can get busy but really man try to reserve like an hour or so a night for this. Even if you bum rush the whole main story there is an amazing experience in this game

One of my favourite thing to do in this game and what made me LOVE Arthur is to just stop for a moment and read his journal. Everything that happened in the story is summarized in there with Arthur input and feelings and beautiful drawing. Everytime you discover a new plant or a new animal there will be a new drawing in the journal.
I don't why but the fact that a buff grumpy middle age man likes to sit down and draw animals, flowers and places makes him so endearing to me.
I love how NPCs interact with the environment, I once stumbled upon the Face Rock in Scarlet Meadow with a Guy on his horse just standing on top of the world in the same way a Player might do to get a good view of the area. It's moments like that which stick with me from this game.
This is hands down my favorite game I dont know what could replace it.
Nothing.. been literally playing this game for 4 years straight, still growing strong... Bought a gaming PC special for this masterpiece, and modding it is loads of fun.. this game is literally my 2nd life. Ive spent around 1500 hours on epilogue, just living life as John Marston. Might start a new playthrough soon. I miss Arthur really badly
Gta6 might replace it for me. I know alot of people like one franchise over the other, but i like both very much.

happy to find someone that has a platinum trophy in rdr2 because I have it too and I timed it perfectly with my birthday so at exactly 00:00 in the night of 11 April I got the platinum with the cutscene where John is in the grave of Arthur and says guess it's just about done my friend how big of a fan you'd have to be to time it like that, now I still play it but I do videogame photography and sell rdr2 photomode screenshots for money and rdr2 won a photography contest not thanks to me but you know I'm happy for it I would like to show you some of my work but idk how
Simply the best game ever made! Everything about it is as close to a perfect game.
No matter what Rockstar game it is , their on a different level.
It’s Incredible how even after playing the game for 250 hours and getting the platinum trophy on PS, I still manage to find new things in this game.
But you forget a very important detail of critique that a lot of people tend to mention while playing this game - chunky controls. You can over-run or walk your destination, your horse won’t respond to jumping, everything is so slow (I get it’s because of “realism, immersion”), but it kinda ruins the gameplay. But again, there are few games out there that can complete the formula. You either sacrifice realism to create a game with good gameplay (Uncharted franchise, my favorite though), or you sacrifice gameplay to create realism (RDR2)
Red Dead Redemption 2 is an absolute masterpiece, the story is one of the most powerful ones I have ever seen in a game, Arthur Morgan is the best protagonist created by Rockstar Games, he has so much depth, you really feel like your on the journey with him throughout the game, the open world, man you could spend hours upon hours exploring the gorgeous world, no game since has come close to it in my opinion, even 4 years on the game still is a joy to play, Rockstar Games best game and my personal favorite game of all time, a timeless classic 👏👏👏👏
Been playing video games since pong. Had an Atari 2600 the year it launched. Been playing a LOT of video games on a lot of platforms for a looooooong time. RDR2 is EASILY hands down the best video game I've ever played. Period.
Even after a few years, the fact that theres still things I wanna do in this games that i already did before but wanna relive it, makes this game just one of the most rarest experiences I've ever lived through with and it's amazing.... I really hope that we'll get a RDR3 in the future but its just as immensely thorough as RDR2, a masterpiece. Straight up 10/10 for me, its everything I wanted and never knew I wanted in an open world game. Amazing.
This a game that made me cry 3 times. 1st time is during Arthur's last conversation with the nun.
This is one of those great type of games, where i wish i could go in for the first time again. Its a timeless gem that hopefully will be praised still in the future

Rdr2 is a linear game with a non linear experience.
Me and my uncle are currently replaying through the story again on our own and still to this day we have stories from the game that we never heard of or even seen

RD2 is just something else. It's an experience. Not just a game. Rockstar has its work cut out to try and top it. Not sure they ever will.
