game doesnt need a remake. people NEED to stop obsessing over the concept of remakes. most of the time they fail at capturing the feeling of the originals anyways.
Not only that, those parts of the map weren't even used from what I remember, it was just kind of there...with little to no real purpose for being included.
given that gaming has matured as a media its not surprising. It's like how some of the greatest films ever were made it the 1980's granted they may not look perfect today in some ways compared to the tech we have but you get my point.
Except I'm pretty sure you haven't played and don't know "most games that are brand new" because they're indie games, maybe explore your horizons a bit and try games that don't already have a big fanbase and covered by most content creators.

I played through the game for the first time when it released on Switch. People were so right in saying that the mission where you enter Mexico for the first time is one of those gaming moments that really stick with you. That song❤️🤠
Im definitely picking this up when it comes on sale. I love this one so much more than the 2nd one. Sure as hell not paying 70 bucks (cdn) for it though. When it hits about the 30ish mark I'll grab it. Looking forward to going through it again. If I hadn't played it so many times before I might consider buying at full price. If someone hasn't had the chance to experience it , it MIGHT be worth a buy.
@@tharusmc9177 Personally, I know it's a quality game so I have no issue paying for it. I'm just not willing to pay that much for it. A `15 year old game with render distance bumped up and some color filters applied doesn't warrant the price tag of a new game, but it is still worth something.
I had to do a double take when I opened the store page on Steam. I seen $70(CAD) and thought for a second that's what they are charging for a bundle deal with RDR2 included. Nope. I was really looking forward to buying this today and playing it, but I cannot justify spending a quarter of my grocery cost per month on a 14 year old game. I think $40 would have been very fair and reasonable.

Both rdr1-2 are absolute masterpieces, and in my opinion the two best games in VG history. And they managed to make both the protagonist ridiculously likable.
Im happy to see that Rockstar took criticism from GTA defective edition and decided to have a better development team to port this out. Back on their A game.

Being a PC gamer for as long as I can remember, I finally picked up PS5 (my first console) earlier this year. Red Dead Redemption was the first game I played on it. I’ll never forget that moment entering Mexico at sunset, with José González’s Far Away playing in the background. It was pure magic, one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in gaming. Even though $50 is steep for an older title, I’ll still buy it because of the way that game made me feel-just as you said at the start of the video, some games create emotions that stay with you forever.
I mentioned the same song in my comment. That is one of the most beautifully lonely moments in gaming. Up there with wandering around New Mombasa alone while Deference for Darkness plays in the background in Halo 3: ODST.
@ I agree! I first heard that song in my favorite movie, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and I loved it. Hearing it again in Red Dead Redemption caught me completely off guard. It just fit so perfectly.
Far away is such a beautiful song. I remember when I went to Mexico during my first playthrough back in 2014. I immediately searched up the song, still listening to it a lot. Both red dead games are a comfort game for me, they'll forever be my number 1 and 2 favourite games.
Something you didn't mention is what the mod community can do with this port. There are already 13 mods on Nexus. Look forward to seeing what they can improve and add to the game.
Mods like texture packs can only go so far with a game like this from 2010. The game has just been ported and the polygons in models have not been increased. I wish Red Dead Redemption got a full remake in the style of RDR2's graphics since a lot of the assets from RDR2 like the map can be reused.
@@samuelrodgers2742 You're thinking too small. Sure, there's a limitation on graphical enhancement mods. But if the game is deemed extremely modable, you'll be able to get a RedM counterpart potentially, like GTA SAMP for example. That's just one example if it seems to be really modable. But if not, and it's modable, I'm gonna be really interested in all kinds of gameplay mechanic mods that they might create. And who knows, maybe they create lighting/lut overhaul mods, etc. But I'm not too saddened by the lack of fidelity increase mods that will never arrive.
I was a massive fan back then (RDR2 being my favorite game of all time), and for years I tried to play RDR using K&M on playstation, using a variety of different emulators and adapters. I succeeded to some degree, but it was never really working that well. I gave up in the end. This is maybe 10-12 years ago. Seeing it release on PC is just.. surreal. Finally, man.
Modders are cringy and toxicated. They dont make quality games like devs. They ruin games with awful modding stuffs. Like who the f even likes Thomas the train as horse? Thats the example. And another is making oversaturated and awful textures. Like NFS MW Redux.

I never played this one and I had just finished up doing my RDR2 playthrough with John in the Epilogue where I was working on challenges. I decided to spend the $50, installed the game, and played the first 3 or 4 hours. Everything is working flawlessly at 100FPS and now I can continue the story. I think that's worth $50.
You can literally change the DLSS mode where it says DLAA, it switches to Quality, performance etc, that's how it is supposed to be. You won't get screen tearing if you have a frame cap set and the cap is below your refresh rate, or if you are on VRR.
I don’t mind the price. Haven’t played this game since it first dropped, and the graphical enhancements are very nice. Plus, it’s one of the greatest games ever made, and Rockstar knows it still blows away a lot of the more recent single player titles.
Out of the 4 Hours Ive played so far Ive had 2 Bugs an Achievement Unlocked like an Hour Later and a Bandit was Invisible (a floating gun) shooting me During a Cutscene Im loving this Game Again after not Playing it Since the XBOX 360 this is my 2nd Favorite game of all time and Im so Excited I can play it Again Im having a Blast!!
Im playing it for the first time ever! This game is so good, i didn't experience any bugs so far and the game was greatly optimized! Im quite impressed, I was not expecting this port to be so good considering since it wasn't rockstar themselves that made the port
I played through the entire game when my daughter was born 15 years ago. I don't do gaming for escapism at all, or stories often even. But this game represented the era so amazingly it took me to another place in time that I love the history of, and I couldn't get enough of it.
Take this time to play RDR 2 again and it'll likely go on sale during or by the time you're done with it, then play RDR 1 as a sequel. That's currently what I'm doing, playing it as one big chronological saga.
Red Dead Redemption has the best dialogue I've ever seen (heard) in a game. The writing, voice acting, scripting, everything is on point. I also think John Marston is a better character than Arthur, his motivations are stronger, he is not cruel like Arthur and he is funny as hell ("when a man with a sing-song voice tells me to f*** off, it always concerns me, 'boyo'!"). This is one of my favorite games ever.
I never completed it but this is what I remember of it. It’s very well written. It’s also effortlessly gritty without feeling like it’s trying too hard.
This was the first game to make me cry. I distinctly remember little young me finishing the game and being so sad that I went and got a hug from my mum. 'Dead Man's Gun' still makes me feel.
No one understands how excited I am to have undead nightmare on pc. Actually my favorite zombie game and it was originally just dlc but the released it standalone
It's bizarre that they did not try to remaster the game since the entire map was already included in RDR2 and some of the character models like John, Abigail, Bill, Uncle and Javier can be reused.
i started gaming on PC last summer. Ive been missing RDR2 that i used to play on PS4 all the time.... Ive never played this game so when i upgrade my GPU and get RDR2 again... ill be picking up this one too.
Would've bought it for 30 bucks, not for 50, it's ridiculous considering it's just a port, not a total remake in RDR2's RAGE, least the could've done was adding mentions of Arthur or something.
Bunch of mods already started and available. Recommend the 'Closer camera' mod, just a closer perspective makes RDR feel more modern. Can't wait for a 'Denser population' mod.
$50 price point will sell well on those that have played rdr2 and want to now play this. It doesn't hurt rockstar to initially sell it at a high price point as they can simply reduce price later.
I can't even imagine the amount of sales Rockstart lost by not having this game on PC before, because one of the differences between PC and consoles is that people never stop buying the version of game you release there. It's like people on PS5 are still buying PS3 games like Metal Gear Solid 4 or GTA IV, right? In fact, I don't even know if they can run that. To use a random example of a 2010 game, Fallout New Vegas had a peak of over 4000 players in the last 24 hours, and people are buying that game all the time. Hell, even an older Rockstar title like GTA IV had a peak of over 2000 players. They were buying it for so many years that one can only imagine the amount of money they made. They have mods to extend the life of the game. Red Dead Redemption had a peak of 8697 players ON LAUNCH. People played this game on emulators before. We have mods there. Rockstar lost so many years of sales on PC that they could have easily cover the cost of the game itself with a simple PC port. It's better late than ever, but 15 years? You can give me 1000 excuses on why that happened, but I'm going to have to point at all the emulators from different platforms that are already running this game and laugh at you.
Your failure to understand why a commercially licensed CONSOLE product hasn't been released on PC yet makes it obvious you know nothing of game development nor the economy and can be easily ignored and/or mocked.

That has nothing to do with any type of licensing issues we hear about today. It just means the game was made for consoles and not PC. There is no direct evidence indicating that the game’s console exclusivity was due to any perpetual licensing contract that prevented a PC port. The decision not to release a PC version initially appeared to be more of a business and development strategy by Rockstar Games, focusing on console markets and prioritizing new projects over adapting the game to PC (or other consoles that came after the PS3 and 360), which wouldn't make my comment less valid.
I enjoyed this game when it came out...top 3 games of the generation for me along with dark souls and last of us. But i wouldn't spend more than $17 on it on PC. If it ever gets to that price, i'll buy just to show my appreciation for it being a masterpiece.
RDR and RDR 2 is worth every penny! Enjoy it! I am envious of anyone who can enjoy the game for the first time. I would like to enjoy it for the first time again. ❤
I was excited to buy it and relive the good old days of online where we would throw Tomahawks at each others horses as we rode around the map. As soon as i found out there was no multiplayer i vowed to never buy it.
@OffensiveFarmer Me and my friends used to "joust" on that big railroad bridge trestle north of McFarlane's Ranch. We would ride towards each other and throw knives or tomahawks at each other's horse. If they survived by not falling off, we would fistfight and try to knock each other off. Good times!
@@FordHoard I didn't hear anyone complaining when Far Cry 3 got ported to the PS4 without online co-op. These people act like Red Dead Redemption is the only port of a game that didn't have online.

I absolutely loved playing this game as a kid on xbox 360. Played it many a time including using an emu on PC... as much as i love this game, 50$ just for a port with a few lil upgrades, its quite ridiculous in my opinion. Only time id buy it, is if the modding community get a hold of it to do the job that rockstar shouldve done. With that said, i would highly recommend it to anyone that hasnt played it
Tried to test the game out this way. Its in great shape but it has lots of weird quirks with controls, menus, subtitles dissapearing, cant skip cutscenes, weapon wheel activates running etc. It also looks surreal with high fps and 1080p. Def wait for a patch before you buy bc its worth it
I bought this game on the switch. It was on sale like 35% off I think. And I had like $9.65 cents in gold. So I bought it for around $20, and let me just say. ONE OF THE BEST PORTS I HAVE PERSONALLY EXPERIENCED ON THE SWITCH. The gameplay feels really good in both handheld and docked. I was very surprised because with switch ports aiming usually feels awful. This game feels really good. No bugs or glitches like how I just saw you ran into the guy t posing. That hasn't happened for me
I’m honestly feel more at home with RDR 1 than RDR 2. Sometimes realism gets in the way of fun. This feels like a game to me. Something I can escape in. And I am so happy to finally be able to play this on my steam deck.
Undead nightmare is overrated though. I loved it as a kid. Recently tried it again, it was so repetitive and boring. My nostalgia told me it was great, but it really wasn’t.

@@albusdumbledore7727 Nah it's GOATed, definitely up there among the best zombie games and it's not even a zombie game, but DLC for a cowboy game I'd argue that only Dying Light and Days Gone are better, and that's plainly and simply because they're entirely zombie games. That's how good Undead Nightmare is, IMO it beats Dead Rising, Dead Island, you name it.
you see that’s your nostalgia talking. I would have said the same thing if I hadn’t played it again recently. It’s really repetitive. Most of the missions consist of fetch quests and side activities. West dickens sends you all over the world for flowers, in a freaking zombie game. And seth sends you to clear three random graveyards, after you literally cleared the one in blackwater. After that its another fetch quest for Dickens and then it’s off to Mexico for the final few missions. The fun in the dlc comes from side content, but that alone does not make this game great. Definitely not goated. Definitely not up there as one of the best.
@@WllKiedSnakeIt actually took too long because the original game went through a messy development and programmers commented how the game’s code was a literal spaghetti code. In the case of piracy, if RDR1 released on PC a year or so after the release, pirates would’ve had a hard time trying to crack it given how it took them a day or two to crack GTA IV & the episodes iirc.

In the ps3 (ps4 updated) version(s), the npc’s on horseback would travel past you at ‘high-speed’ for no reason. At times it would be annoying as you would think that you may be under attack. Also, there were instances of npc’s glitching - not too many but you would occasionally come across one in a town or within a saloon. It didn’t really affect the overall quality of the game, especially considering when the game was developed. Finally, I think the company that did this port on behalf of Rockstar just implemented everything ‘warts and all’ and have concentrated on the stable running performance and graphic enhancements. They generally did a reasonable job, so far, as the playthrough is still continuing. It will be interesting to see what ‘mods’ are created and if they will enhance the game further.

As someone that never played the original, $50 for the base game + DLC seems fair. It’s a good game I never had the chance to play as it was never on PC.
I also never played the game but I also learn from experience. Rockstar never delivered the promised story DLC for GTA V and they allowed the Definite Edition to get f...ed up so bad by outsourcing it that I decided to never buy a Rockstar IP again unless it's € 30 or cheaper. I admit that I'm tempted to make an exception from that rule for RDR but sometimes in life you have to stand firm. Otherwise they'll take you for a ride again and again and again. Thus I put my money where my mouth is.
Totally worth $50 if you haven't played it. Take away the graphical "grade" where it is obviously a 10 year old game...the story, the voice acting, the game play and the number of hours you'll get out of it is better than most games out today. And Rockstar is not known for STEEP discounts very soon after release....it'll take a while. I doubt you see a $15-20 price point in 6 months. $29-35 maybe.

As a long time fan I decided to pick up the game at launch anyway. I still have my original copy too, but $50 is definitely a bit steep for an older game. The gameplay in this one feels snappier when compared to RDR2. I'd say it is worth $50 only if you really enjoyed this game, you liked RDR2, or you have nothing else to play. If you haven't played any RDR or didn't really enjoy RDR2 then i'd wait for a sale. The game also includes Undead Nightmare, which is also really fun and has a couple of story missions.
CDN$69.99 - No Multiplayer - Rockstar Launcher = skip it + Pirate Copy released couple hours later on launch day / No R* launcher required = No brainer 10/10 game excellent story and gameplay ... Purchase on decent sale price to support the developers
Definitely buying it for the Ally X and occasionally gaming PC. One thing I'm looking forward to is mods. Look what they've done with Skyrim and Fallout. There will be some epic mods

As a PC user who loved RDR2 and always wanted to play this, 50 bucks is worth it. Except for the fact that it's almost Winter Sale time and I can easily wait for that.
even more mid range cards are getting that performance my dang RX6800 is maxed at 144fps at 3440x1440p. Overall all it's just really nice they didn't fuck it up.
Rockstar seem to be slow at reducing the price of their games, some of their other titles still sit at premium pricing, so it wouldn't surprise me if it takes way more than a few months for a price drop.

I can partially agree about price, i think 40$ release price and 30$ on sales is more fair. And after 6-12 months dropping base price to 30$, 15-20$ on sales. But not a 20$ on release like people suggest. The game is on masterpiece lvl. For last 5 years how many masterpiece games we had on PC? Not a lot. Nowadays studios ask 70$ for buggy crap and mediocracy. But in case of rdr you know you getting high quality product.
Started playing this on PC yesterday and it runs so much better than it did on my PS3 console way back in the day. Also not sure why but the game and gameplay feels a lot simpler and easier then I remember. It’s certainly much more noob gamer friendly then it’s Sequel.
i preferred 1s expereience and pacing overall. No camp you're forced to do chores for and not a ton of boring walking sections etc. Just go to the next mission to progress story. Plain and simple
@ yeah I agree the game seemed to move at a much quicker pace then Red Dead 2. I think in hours I played it yesterday the only time the game slowed down was when I took a break to play some Poker and some Horsehoes lol
@@Cwattyeso I can even just remember alot of the missions from memory - Help the sheriff take out bandits, sell fake medicine to idiots with a con artist using your gun skills, escort in the canyon, intercept and blow up the convoy, train heist, ride to mexico, the gatling gun, take over fort mercer, save Bonnie, find and question Javier escuella, end Bill and his gang, stop Dutch van der linde. And ofc the entire ending/epilogue. Dont need so much downtime between all the important beats, or atleast give me the option to just get on with it.

@ dmc ps1-ps2 remade for PS3/kill zone 1 PS2 remastered for PS3/beyond good and evil PS2 remastered for GC in 2011, remade last year for PC/Dexter collection ps2, remastered for ps3 came out in 13/outer worlds came out in 19 remastered in 4 years, outer is way more technically advanced than rdr in every way even the file sizes are bigger,troll you're exposed most people have all those games as classics just like I told you rdr could've been made on ps4 Rockstar chose not to and no other team bought the rights to do it doesn't mean like I told you they could've have done it if they had the rights to nothing would've stopped them you're wrong not me

game doesnt need a remake. people NEED to stop obsessing over the concept of remakes. most of the time they fail at capturing the feeling of the originals anyways.
Not only that, those parts of the map weren't even used from what I remember, it was just kind of there...with little to no real purpose for being included.
RDR2 was in development for 8 years, if they wanna capture the same complexity as the 2nd game, it would take time.

I played through the game for the first time when it released on Switch. People were so right in saying that the mission where you enter Mexico for the first time is one of those gaming moments that really stick with you. That song❤️🤠

I had to do a double take when I opened the store page on Steam. I seen $70(CAD) and thought for a second that's what they are charging for a bundle deal with RDR2 included. Nope.
I was really looking forward to buying this today and playing it, but I cannot justify spending a quarter of my grocery cost per month on a 14 year old game. I think $40 would have been very fair and reasonable.

Both rdr1-2 are absolute masterpieces, and in my opinion the two best games in VG history. And they managed to make both the protagonist ridiculously likable.
Im happy to see that Rockstar took criticism from GTA defective edition and decided to have a better development team to port this out.

Being a PC gamer for as long as I can remember, I finally picked up PS5 (my first console) earlier this year. Red Dead Redemption was the first game I played on it. I’ll never forget that moment entering Mexico at sunset, with José González’s Far Away playing in the background. It was pure magic, one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in gaming. Even though $50 is steep for an older title, I’ll still buy it because of the way that game made me feel-just as you said at the start of the video, some games create emotions that stay with you forever.
I mentioned the same song in my comment. That is one of the most beautifully lonely moments in gaming. Up there with wandering around New Mombasa alone while Deference for Darkness plays in the background in Halo 3: ODST.
@ I agree! I first heard that song in my favorite movie, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and I loved it. Hearing it again in Red Dead Redemption caught me completely off guard. It just fit so perfectly.
Far away is such a beautiful song. I remember when I went to Mexico during my first playthrough back in 2014. I immediately searched up the song, still listening to it a lot.
Both red dead games are a comfort game for me, they'll forever be my number 1 and 2 favourite games.
Something you didn't mention is what the mod community can do with this port. There are already 13 mods on Nexus. Look forward to seeing what they can improve and add to the game.

Mods like texture packs can only go so far with a game like this from 2010. The game has just been ported and the polygons in models have not been increased. I wish Red Dead Redemption got a full remake in the style of RDR2's graphics since a lot of the assets from RDR2 like the map can be reused.

@@samuelrodgers2742 You're thinking too small. Sure, there's a limitation on graphical enhancement mods. But if the game is deemed extremely modable, you'll be able to get a RedM counterpart potentially, like GTA SAMP for example. That's just one example if it seems to be really modable.
But if not, and it's modable, I'm gonna be really interested in all kinds of gameplay mechanic mods that they might create.
And who knows, maybe they create lighting/lut overhaul mods, etc. But I'm not too saddened by the lack of fidelity increase mods that will never arrive.
I was a massive fan back then (RDR2 being my favorite game of all time), and for years I tried to play RDR using K&M on playstation, using a variety of different emulators and adapters. I succeeded to some degree, but it was never really working that well. I gave up in the end. This is maybe 10-12 years ago. Seeing it release on PC is just.. surreal. Finally, man.
Just wait until modders are gonna turn this into a MASTERPIECE, which it's already is!

The guns in this game were literally perfect and sounded so crisp too.
This was one of my favourite games growing up, and I haven’t played it in 10+ years. With that said I will not pick it up at this price

I never played this one and I had just finished up doing my RDR2 playthrough with John in the Epilogue where I was working on challenges.
I decided to spend the $50, installed the game, and played the first 3 or 4 hours. Everything is working flawlessly at 100FPS and now I can continue the story.
I think that's worth $50.
You can literally change the DLSS mode where it says DLAA, it switches to Quality, performance etc, that's how it is supposed to be. You won't get screen tearing if you have a frame cap set and the cap is below your refresh rate, or if you are on VRR.
But that causes bugs

I don’t mind the price. Haven’t played this game since it first dropped, and the graphical enhancements are very nice.
Plus, it’s one of the greatest games ever made, and Rockstar knows it still blows away a lot of the more recent single player titles.

Im playing it for the first time ever! This game is so good, i didn't experience any bugs so far and the game was greatly optimized! Im quite impressed, I was not expecting this port to be so good considering since it wasn't rockstar themselves that made the port
I played through the entire game when my daughter was born 15 years ago. I don't do gaming for escapism at all, or stories often even. But this game represented the era so amazingly it took me to another place in time that I love the history of, and I couldn't get enough of it.
RDR 1 on Emulation runs amazingly well, i get a stable 60 locked, more if unlocked on a Super 4070, no crashes, works a treat

This is the great port we should've got 13 years ago.
Take this time to play RDR 2 again and it'll likely go on sale during or by the time you're done with it, then play RDR 1 as a sequel. That's currently what I'm doing, playing it as one big chronological saga.
Another reason to wait for a sale is that by the time it comes there will have been lots of great mods added into the game.
Red Dead Redemption has the best dialogue I've ever seen (heard) in a game. The writing, voice acting, scripting, everything is on point. I also think John Marston is a better character than Arthur, his motivations are stronger, he is not cruel like Arthur and he is funny as hell ("when a man with a sing-song voice tells me to f*** off, it always concerns me, 'boyo'!"). This is one of my favorite games ever.
I never completed it but this is what I remember of it. It’s very well written. It’s also effortlessly gritty without feeling like it’s trying too hard.

It's bizarre that they did not try to remaster the game since the entire map was already included in RDR2 and some of the character models like John, Abigail, Bill, Uncle and Javier can be reused.
To me RDR 2 looks too fluid and like an animated movie compared to RDR 1. I'd hate it if they gave RDR the look and feel of RDR 2

$50 price point will sell well on those that have played rdr2 and want to now play this. It doesn't hurt rockstar to initially sell it at a high price point as they can simply reduce price later.
I can't even imagine the amount of sales Rockstart lost by not having this game on PC before, because one of the differences between PC and consoles is that people never stop buying the version of game you release there. It's like people on PS5 are still buying PS3 games like Metal Gear Solid 4 or GTA IV, right? In fact, I don't even know if they can run that. To use a random example of a 2010 game, Fallout New Vegas had a peak of over 4000 players in the last 24 hours, and people are buying that game all the time. Hell, even an older Rockstar title like GTA IV had a peak of over 2000 players. They were buying it for so many years that one can only imagine the amount of money they made. They have mods to extend the life of the game. Red Dead Redemption had a peak of 8697 players ON LAUNCH.
People played this game on emulators before. We have mods there. Rockstar lost so many years of sales on PC that they could have easily cover the cost of the game itself with a simple PC port. It's better late than ever, but 15 years? You can give me 1000 excuses on why that happened, but I'm going to have to point at all the emulators from different platforms that are already running this game and laugh at you.
Your failure to understand why a commercially licensed CONSOLE product hasn't been released on PC yet makes it obvious you know nothing of game development nor the economy and can be easily ignored and/or mocked.

There is no direct evidence indicating that the game’s console exclusivity was due to any perpetual licensing contract that prevented a PC port. The decision not to release a PC version initially appeared to be more of a business and development strategy by Rockstar Games, focusing on console markets and prioritizing new projects over adapting the game to PC (or other consoles that came after the PS3 and 360), which wouldn't make my comment less valid.

I enjoyed this game when it came out...top 3 games of the generation for me along with dark souls and last of us. But i wouldn't spend more than $17 on it on PC. If it ever gets to that price, i'll buy just to show my appreciation for it being a masterpiece.

I was playing it yesterday and was loving it. To me, it's worth every penny.
I will never not be bitter they insist on abandoning this games multiplayer with the port.

I was excited to buy it and relive the good old days of online where we would throw Tomahawks at each others horses as we rode around the map. As soon as i found out there was no multiplayer i vowed to never buy it.
@OffensiveFarmer Me and my friends used to "joust" on that big railroad bridge trestle north of McFarlane's Ranch. We would ride towards each other and throw knives or tomahawks at each other's horse. If they survived by not falling off, we would fistfight and try to knock each other off. Good times!

I absolutely loved playing this game as a kid on xbox 360. Played it many a time including using an emu on PC... as much as i love this game, 50$ just for a port with a few lil upgrades, its quite ridiculous in my opinion. Only time id buy it, is if the modding community get a hold of it to do the job that rockstar shouldve done. With that said, i would highly recommend it to anyone that hasnt played it

Tried to test the game out this way. Its in great shape but it has lots of weird quirks with controls, menus, subtitles dissapearing, cant skip cutscenes, weapon wheel activates running etc. It also looks surreal with high fps and 1080p. Def wait for a patch before you buy bc its worth it
I bought this game on the switch. It was on sale like 35% off I think. And I had like $9.65 cents in gold. So I bought it for around $20, and let me just say. ONE OF THE BEST PORTS I HAVE PERSONALLY EXPERIENCED ON THE SWITCH. The gameplay feels really good in both handheld and docked. I was very surprised because with switch ports aiming usually feels awful. This game feels really good. No bugs or glitches like how I just saw you ran into the guy t posing. That hasn't happened for me

I'd argue that only Dying Light and Days Gone are better, and that's plainly and simply because they're entirely zombie games. That's how good Undead Nightmare is, IMO it beats Dead Rising, Dead Island, you name it.
you see that’s your nostalgia talking. I would have said the same thing if I hadn’t played it again recently. It’s really repetitive. Most of the missions consist of fetch quests and side activities. West dickens sends you all over the world for flowers, in a freaking zombie game. And seth sends you to clear three random graveyards, after you literally cleared the one in blackwater. After that its another fetch quest for Dickens and then it’s off to Mexico for the final few missions.
The fun in the dlc comes from side content, but that alone does not make this game great. Definitely not goated. Definitely not up there as one of the best.
RDR was the first game I ever played and beat on PS3. This game is really special to me.

@@WllKiedSnakeIt actually took too long because the original game went through a messy development and programmers commented how the game’s code was a literal spaghetti code. In the case of piracy, if RDR1 released on PC a year or so after the release, pirates would’ve had a hard time trying to crack it given how it took them a day or two to crack GTA IV & the episodes iirc.

In the ps3 (ps4 updated) version(s), the npc’s on horseback would travel past you at ‘high-speed’ for no reason. At times it would be annoying as you would think that you may be under attack. Also, there were instances of npc’s glitching - not too many but you would occasionally come across one in a town or within a saloon. It didn’t really affect the overall quality of the game, especially considering when the game was developed. Finally, I think the company that did this port on behalf of Rockstar just implemented everything ‘warts and all’ and have concentrated on the stable running performance and graphic enhancements. They generally did a reasonable job, so far, as the playthrough is still continuing. It will be interesting to see what ‘mods’ are created and if they will enhance the game further.

I also never played the game but I also learn from experience. Rockstar never delivered the promised story DLC for GTA V and they allowed the Definite Edition to get f...ed up so bad by outsourcing it that I decided to never buy a Rockstar IP again unless it's € 30 or cheaper.
I admit that I'm tempted to make an exception from that rule for RDR but sometimes in life you have to stand firm. Otherwise they'll take you for a ride again and again and again.
Thus I put my money where my mouth is.

Take away the graphical "grade" where it is obviously a 10 year old game...the story, the voice acting, the game play and the number of hours you'll get out of it is better than most games out today. And Rockstar is not known for STEEP discounts very soon after release....it'll take a while. I doubt you see a $15-20 price point in 6 months. $29-35 maybe.

If you have never played RDR1 ever before it is definetly worth the asking price, if you have already played it's up to you to decide if it's worth it or not. 50 bucks for a game that is still better than recent games sold at almost 2 times the price this is a steal yes.

As a long time fan I decided to pick up the game at launch anyway. I still have my original copy too, but $50 is definitely a bit steep for an older game. The gameplay in this one feels snappier when compared to RDR2. I'd say it is worth $50 only if you really enjoyed this game, you liked RDR2, or you have nothing else to play. If you haven't played any RDR or didn't really enjoy RDR2 then i'd wait for a sale. The game also includes Undead Nightmare, which is also really fun and has a couple of story missions.

Definitely buying it for the Ally X and occasionally gaming PC. One thing I'm looking forward to is mods. Look what they've done with Skyrim and Fallout. There will be some epic mods

As a PC user who loved RDR2 and always wanted to play this, 50 bucks is worth it. Except for the fact that it's almost Winter Sale time and I can easily wait for that.

even more mid range cards are getting that performance my dang RX6800 is maxed at 144fps at 3440x1440p.
Overall all it's just really nice they didn't fuck it up.
Rockstar seem to be slow at reducing the price of their games, some of their other titles still sit at premium pricing, so it wouldn't surprise me if it takes way more than a few months for a price drop.
No multiplayer is unacceptable and it wasn't even mentioned.

I doubt it, fps players are a different breed of gamers, they usually don't have any interest in single player titles like this one.
I can partially agree about price, i think 40$ release price and 30$ on sales is more fair. And after 6-12 months dropping base price to 30$, 15-20$ on sales. But not a 20$ on release like people suggest. The game is on masterpiece lvl. For last 5 years how many masterpiece games we had on PC? Not a lot. Nowadays studios ask 70$ for buggy crap and mediocracy. But in case of rdr you know you getting high quality product.

Started playing this on PC yesterday and it runs so much better than it did on my PS3 console way back in the day. Also not sure why but the game and gameplay feels a lot simpler and easier then I remember. It’s certainly much more noob gamer friendly then it’s Sequel.
i preferred 1s expereience and pacing overall. No camp you're forced to do chores for and not a ton of boring walking sections etc. Just go to the next mission to progress story. Plain and simple
@ yeah I agree the game seemed to move at a much quicker pace then Red Dead 2. I think in hours I played it yesterday the only time the game slowed down was when I took a break to play some Poker and some Horsehoes lol
@@Cwattyeso I can even just remember alot of the missions from memory - Help the sheriff take out bandits, sell fake medicine to idiots with a con artist using your gun skills, escort in the canyon, intercept and blow up the convoy, train heist, ride to mexico, the gatling gun, take over fort mercer, save Bonnie, find and question Javier escuella, end Bill and his gang, stop Dutch van der linde. And ofc the entire ending/epilogue. Dont need so much downtime between all the important beats, or atleast give me the option to just get on with it.

@ dmc ps1-ps2 remade for PS3/kill zone 1 PS2 remastered for PS3/beyond good and evil PS2 remastered for GC in 2011, remade last year for PC/Dexter collection ps2, remastered for ps3 came out in 13/outer worlds came out in 19 remastered in 4 years,
outer is way more technically advanced than rdr in every way even the file sizes are bigger,troll you're exposed most people have all those games as classics just like I told you rdr could've been made on ps4 Rockstar chose not to and no other team bought the rights to do it doesn't mean like I told you they could've have done it if they had the rights to nothing would've stopped them you're wrong not me
