@@IncredibleGoliath Oh man. I've always blamed parenting for how Aegon turned out. Viserys and mostly Alicent. Aegon has always craved attention and love, if only Alicent had been kinder to him when he acted up instead of hitting him and demeaning him, maybe he would've turned out better.

They are USED to represent His RULE in this age. His appearance in the FLESH had NOTHING to do with His RULE, and was only for the sake of His WORK at that time. well to be fair. first episode was kinda boring not gonna lie. this 2nd episode however, was fantastic. so i can see if people conclude the whole thing as a “boring”. seems like its getting more intense though. 💯
Nah. This episode was horrible. No character consistency, weird dialogue , the scenes were way too drawn out and they served no purpose to the plot of the episode and were too much time spend on new characters without giving the viewers a chance of getting to know them. It’s very obvious with this episode that the writer’s strike and Miguel leaving has negatively effected shooting for this particular episode. Feels so different from the first episode. Probably one of the most pointless episodes in the franchise’s history.

The fight between the twins was ostensibly a reference to Rhaenyra and Aegon also being siblings who are about to start a war, which will engulf families across the realm and not just House Targaryen.

I respect Otto for having the balls to hold his grandson accountable for foolish mistakes and to realize his own when he let Viscerys down by backing Aegon.
Otto may be a devious hand but he is not stupid. He wanted to keep order in the realm. He just backed the wrong horse.
Yeah but he never showed his caring side when needed tho. That alone could've made Aegon a different person entirely. Always scolding a child when needed, but never showing them affection and understanding when needed is a recipe for disaster. No wonder Aegon has no respect for Otto, now that he has power.
Backing Aegon? Otto just backed his own interests, he forced Aegon who tried to fight against it.
Aegon would have thrown that crown at Rhaenyra, wished her good luck, and tucked and rolled out of that whole situation.
Otto even tried to using a six years old kid's death as propagand against Aegon's wishes is gross. Otto just cares about him and power.
He just wanted crowning his grandson so you can rule through him as a puppet
He didn't just ''back the wrong horse'', he PUT that horse on the trhone, he plotted for hightowers to come to power for decades, he essentially pimped his juvenile daughter to Viserys, it was all his plan all along. Now he yields results of his own actions.
I think you need a fact check here, it was Otto and Alicent who provoked Aegon into taking the crown in the first place by stating that if Rhaenyra took power she would not let Aegon live because of his claim on the throne. Aegon never wanted to rule. He didn't back the wrong horse because if Rhaenyra took the throne, house Hightower would be ruined.

Emma and Matt are the true powerhouses of the show for sure. Their chemistry and dynamic is amazing on screen.

Alicent leaving her crying son to go bed with cole was so heartbreaking, Rhaenyra would never! this is why I am team black
I did not understand that action of her character when she seems to suffer a lot for her daughter helaena.
That scene made me think a lot about season 1, and the vast contrast between Rhaenyra and Alicent's upbringing, and the amount of love, or lack of, they both received. Rhaenyra's mother and father clearly loved her, and communicated with her as parents and not just as royals. Whereas Alicent's mother died when she was already young, Otto's relationship with his daughter is strange, and then on top of that childhood where affection is sparse, she has to have children while she herself is not long a child herself. I don't think Alicent knows real love, emotional or physical, and her first sexual experience was with a man old enough to be her father. Her response to not hugging Aegon displays to me how emotionally stunted she is. I feel like she is already dead inside, and has been for a while.

The season opened with the Wall and Cregan promising Jace 2000 greybeards. Then Cole is being set up as the man we'd love to hate for his affair with Alicent, and worse now when he projects his disgrace onto Arryk. Oh and Cole mentioned 200 greybeards dismissively too this episode. So, definitely an arc for Cole that is geared to make the viewer wish for his demise ASAP, and cheer on Cregan's greybeards that are painted as some mere token aid.

After witnessing the Cargyll twins battle, we now get to witness Blackwoods and Brackens simply figuring out new ways to squabble.
I’ve read the books and I must say the show is doing a great job. There’s a lot of politics, plotting, scheming and ultimately fighting but before we get to all the battles, viewers that haven’t read the books NEED context, they need to see the conversations and build up.
The same people mad about the last two episodes are the ones that probably cheered during the bells scene and only cared about the fight scenes lmao. Hotd is a political thriller first and foremost and I love it, such a rarity these days!
I am in the group of the people, not blacks, not greens - the citizens themselves, and what they had to endure because of this crazy family and their internal struggles for power.

Let the Targaryen madness begin
Yeah, only a few targaryens were mad out of the hundreds out there. These kings were always wicked and expressed inhumane actions. They were not people drowning in grief or seeking revenge. Characters in the books and show are unreliable narrators. Gods tossing coin and figuring out if if the newborn targaryen is mad or not is an expression used by king Jahaerys the third to describe the unpredictability of rulers. Since the Targaryens were the only rulers of Westeros he had no reason to compare his own family with the other noble houses because they have not been independent for centuries.
What an eventful episode. The performances in this episode were top tier and I enjoyed the slow build up to the chaos to come. Another great episode! ❤
For me, the saddest scene was definitely the Twins fighting each other to the death. and the two of them were interred in the same tomb. Wow, that's really tragic.

Well thats in the show, in the books Daemon was full faithful with Rhaenyra as his queen. Maybe not faithful as husband but to her cause he never fails her. In the books he was the majority of time supporting her cause. He never considered the hightowers his family nor his nephews of Alicent. He loathed them.

He has a weird obsession with the Targaryen Dynasty just as most Targaryens. He obviously struggles with his own desires and his ego, but I don't think he ever puts Rhaenyra behind these. The issue is that for him Rhaenyra and his obsession with family ties together

The episode should’ve ended with the battle of the twins, cause the scenes afterward with Alicent didn’t serve much purpose
It did serve a purpose: It was Alicent‘s plan to send the other twin to Dragon Stone, she used Cole to cut off her Father as she was always insecure about her place when he is around, specially undermining her. The last scene proves, it was all alone her plan.
I think they could've swapped the order of those scenes. Ending right after the duel would be better
