    Penelope’s speech was great but I loved how Queen Charlotte just kept crashing parties this season, showing that she meant business. A true queen and badass alongside Lady Danbury.

    I loved how the Queen chose not to punish Penelope.
    To punish her would imply that the Queen considered her to be a real threat in the first place.
    Instead, she allowed her to continue, sending a clear statement that, ultimately, the Crown need not fear the scribblings of any gossip monger, no matter how popular they may be.

      That is an interesting perspective, I haven’t thought about that.. I would have preferred that they angled the scene in the way you mentioned. Cause I didn’t feel it from this scene? Here I feel more like Penelope gave a soulful speech, apologized, and then everything becomes alright

    Lady Danbury plays the Game better than anyone. She turned the Queen's opinion, which gave Penelope the small margin she needed to reveal her identity without incurring wrath.
    I also love that the "evil sisters" got the chance for a smidge of redemption.

    I really love how Lady Danbury has been a great judge of character through the series. And her beaming pride at Penelope getting the attention she deserved. Lady Danbury had always mentioned Penn to be the "more smart and sensible one of the Featheringtons".

    I’ve seen some people upset that Colin wasn’t standing there with her, but I love that he held back and didn’t rush in to save her like he probably wanted to do. This was Penelope’s moment and she knew she had to face it alone, but with his encouragement from the sidelines. It shows a lot of growth for both of them.

    I think the reason the queen didn't punish Penelope is because she wrote to the queen herself that she is lady whistledown instead of the queen to countine her hunt. And Pen apologized to everyone and showed respect to the queen in her speech and was humbled too. The queen can be tough but she does have a softer side it showed us in Queen Charlottes story with her relationship with George. That's just my option i also think its lady Danbury was a big part of it too

    this was true courage. At that time, to write something against the crown or challenging the crown would mean execution or depending how the monarch would want to punish you. You see the look on Penelope’s face before the Queen left. Queen Charlotte could have said “Seize her!” or “Off with her head!” and she would send a clear statement to the ton not to challenge the seat of power.

    This was so bad...the biggest gossiper of the ton reveled...and nothing. So lackluster, no consequences, no dialogue about it, no nothing.
    It's the same when gossip girl ended, everybody felt let down by Dan not facing the consequences of it, no one liked that Serena was so ok with marrying him practially imediatly after everything. Nobody likes that series finale.
    You had something great to make a big revelation and decided to do this. Cressida being fake whistledown got more backlash than Pen.
    (Also, this is more a me problem than an overall problem, but: that wig??? Omg, is soooo bad, you can tell it's a wig, it doesn't have movement, it doesn't mimic hair properly, it's so distracting. Usually I could buy Penelope's hair, especially in s1, in s2 some wigs have problems, but most of them werw still very good, it looked like her hair. But this scene? It's so fake).

      The Queen threatened Elosie's whole family if she didn't come forward. Yet with Penelope, it was like don't challenge me again. I think it still shows Penelope still gets looked over. Everyone was talking about how her new dress was going to turn every head in town, and it didn't make that much of a difference. Sure, people noticed, but she didn't have a huge impact. I know people might not agree, but Daphne dropping the fan in front if the prince had yet to be topped.

      It was bad. Probably every member of the ton would have something against her, if not the queen, she would have to face the ire, or something worse, from others.. she literally exposed illegitimate children, rakes, schemes, etc. So ok, the queen isn’t bothered, but I don’t think it should end there, certain members would be looking to ruin her. This scene felt very weak and not authentic to the build up that went on for multiple seasons

    • @naveenakoneru9211
      @naveenakoneru9211 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      About the hair, I have to say, I couldn’t vibe with the wavy hair which wasn’t tied up most of the time. It doesn’t look bad, but it was yet another thing that didn’t fit with regency times..
      I actually preferred her maybe unfashionable outfits, but carefree vibe from before. I thought they brought more of her carefree spirit out. I wish they showed some aspect of that in her glow up instead of doing a complete 180.
      there were just too many distracting things in this season

      To spread gossip is a bully onlu. What she did to eloise was wrong . What she wrote about Colin was wrong . People who live in society have their own insecurities, now even if truthful its not fair to publish such insecurities as it can affect people. Plus , she could have used her tool to criticize the very system as she should have been aware how this system affects people but she as whisteldown reinforced a wrong system and even humiliated people in a society where people are so closely watched.
      There were woman like cressida who even if a bully was a victim of this system but all Penelope did was to write about privileged people and also abuse her enemies . She surely is a bully

    • @Adme55
      @Adme55 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +6

      @@vavakunju17The author of these books was right when she said that people would excuse Cressida but hate Pen for being LW. Pen also came from an emotionally abusive family and she wrote gossip, yes. Some people were hurt despite her not doing it with malicious intent. She was just a teen making mistakes. She also helped people (Daphne would’ve had to marry that other guy if it hadn’t been for Pen writing about him) but that is ignored. In the end, she accepted that she made mistakes, that she hurt people (even if it was not her intent) and she wants to do better going forward.
      Cressida went after Pen incessantly, with ill intent, but she gets a free pass even though she has shown no remorse and does not seem to want to change. She is a bully.
      But hey, we all have our points of view and you just don’t like Penelope and that is fine. Ultimately, the series and the books were written to show that Pen was a good human being despite her faults.

    Nicola Coughlin who plays Penelope is 5' 1" in height, listed as 123 lbs. That would give a BMI of 23.2 which is in the normal weight range. But that is not true. She is closer to 155 lbs easily and therefore would have a BMI of 29.9 or obese bordering on morbidly obese. Such a butterball that you cannot even see her neck. For someone so young, this is a failure to eat, sleep, and exercise properly. People should quit accepting that as normal. It is not normal, it is deadly. I cannot imagine anyone dating her character or falling in love with her character. It is not credible. Why is a movie star unable to shed weight, ridiculous! Not a pretty sight to look at and not healthy. Being overweight is not normal, and we are all overweight these days thanks to so much sugar and junk food. What is normal weight is to be lean and skinny the way nature wants us to be.
