This video saved my dog’s life last night. Scariest thing I’ve ever gone through. I had already done some of what this version said to do because I had seen a photo of it before. But I didn’t know you could do the Heimlich on a dog like this. After the 3rd pump she finally coughed (or kinda puked) it up. Thank you for this video!!!!! EDIT I just read some of the comments and if an ad would have came on before this I would have freaked the hell out!!!!!

My dog had gotten into something and started chocking and white stuff started coming out of his mouth. He was gagging a lot and trying to cough it up. I laid him on his side and made sure his head was facing to the side and starting pushing on his stomach to see if that would help him get it out. After a couple minutes I could hear it coming up but he was getting weaker and wasn't able to get it out with his own muscles so I opened his mouth and was able see what it was way down there. Luckily I was able to get to it and pulled it out. As soon as I did he jumped up and was panting trying to catch his breath. After I got him to calm down he then attacked me with kisses and snuggled me for a long time. 😊 I'm so happy I was there

Miss Haley this gave me happy tears. My dog has seizures and when it’s over he hides under my arm. And stays close to me. Normally he runs away from me. But when ever he is in trouble or somethings up he runs to me. He’s really sassy lol 😆

So glad your dog is okay. It is possible to skip the ad and a couple of seconds will honestly not make a difference to their survival.

Im.not so sure that the channel can control ads.. you should have an ad blocker and honestly even if your dog was chocking the added 6 seconds probs wouldn't have done much for it's survival.

IN A HURRY?
1. use your hands and reach in their mouth
2. small dogs hold them by the back legs and lift them up to help them get it out; like a wheel barrow
3. make a fist, place where thumb is under the abdomen and with the other hand around to support the first> push up towards chest to lodge whatever it is out. repeat 5 times.

This video just saved my puppy’s life tonight. I’d already tried the wheelbarrow manoeuvre but it wasn’t working. Three pumps in the spot under her ribs and she coughed up the piece of food she’d had lodged. Considering my elderly dog was put down last week I’m extremely grateful to have been able to help the puppy when she really needed it

I loved the unskippable 30 second ad for a children’s hospital.
My dog just woke me up with this loud choking/coughing noise. I couldn't tell what was wrong, but I have first aid/CPR training and just ended up winging it. I happened to do all of these steps correctly and my dog was fine afterwards, but nothing came out, nothing was in her mouth... idk what happened but she's fine now. I had her drink some water and now she's sleeping soundly beside me. At least I know what to do if she ever really does choke. It's middle of the night and I'm wired from this whole situation haha

If he's coughing, that means air is coming out. He was not yet choking, but he may have had something stuck in his throat and been getting close to choking. The doggie Heimlich maneuver won't work if air can still get out. In fact, you can make it worse by doing it too soon by forcing most of the air out of his lungs before he's actually choking.

Wat if your dog was not coughing but vomitting without any fluid out.and she keep dringking water until her stomach blowted by it or maybe along with air pressure..i open her mouth but shes insisting and she cant eat food, im sad bcoz im afraid to try that and theres no vet in here that i can go for her. I suspense that theres something in her throat like for example in a tonsilities that our throat is hard for us to swallow something like that...can you answer for this., her stomach really big hard blowted too that she cant swallow :(😥😢

Last morning my dog started choking. I was panicking and didnt know what to do. Thank god he is a fighter and he managed to get the piece out. I was so relieved. Now im watching this video in

Thank you for making videos like this! So important to know and memorize before you have to use it! Before I got my dog, I looked up basic first aid procedures including what to do if a dog is choking, and almost six years after I got her she did choke on a piece of chicken someone gave her. Thanks to the fact that I had looked up what to do, I was able to help her dislodge it immediately and she was fine. So scary to see someone choking, and I can't imagine how much worse it would be if you didn't know how to help!

I saw this video years ago when it popped up in my feed. Tonight, I'm very grateful that I watched it. My almost 14 yr old dog was trying to enjoy a treat and Ii was trying to keep our other dog from rushing him. He rushed anyway and ended up choking. I'm very glad I was paying attention. I couldn't sweep it out and the gravity trick was impossible as he was on the edge of the bed and I can't fully lift him. But I knew the Heimlich could work and was able to clear his airway with a few thrusts, even though he was frightened enough that he was resisting my help. I knew he was going to be okay when he started searching for the treat I'd just dislodged. It's brought an end to giving him treats that require a lot of chewing and are bigger than a mouthful. Even if I restrain our other dog, he tries to eat it too quickly, I'm sure because he doesn't want the other dog to steal it. I'm very relieved I'm still able to cuddle him tonight.

I watched this video a few months ago and thanks to this useful information I helped my clients dog. He was coughing yet not choking because I could hear noise. He was frantically running around crying & trying to throw up. All I did was lift his back legs up and he threw up the stick right away. THANK YOU!

The one thing your video didn't mention which actually helped to end the problem was to give my dog a bit of water down her throat (the vet assistant told me that). The water helped to let the blockage move and end the crisis. I could tell it was over because my dog gave a huge shake from head to tail and then began to run around joyfully.

BXEman W please watch our video covering first aid for a drowning dog as this covers choking on water. Turn them upside down or hold them in the wheelbarrow position, the same as for choking.

Please be careful when checking the dog's mouth. If you put their lips over their teeth it can be helpful to protect your hands. If in doubt, do not put your fingers in their mouth. Never put yourself at risk

I proudly wear scars on my hand and arm were I helped a full size Lab out from underneath a car. After being pinned yea, it hurt a little bit and they had to put the stitches with no pain numbing. But i would definitely do it again. (The Lab didnt make it it unfortunately)

I tried this with my basset hound puppy and she survived! It was a bit harder to do with her long body but she survived! I am so happy she gets to live another day :,) but strangely, her Saving grace is doing a mouth to mouth maneuver where the food clump was forced to lose its form

Kanim 548 I’m very sorry to hear this about your dog. I have a young dog, almost still a puppy, in a somewhat similar circumstance but I don’t know if it is a heart problem. About an hour ago he seemed like he wasn’t breathing with his mouth closed sitting down straight when I noticed his belly doing a sort of wave like motion. It immediately dawned on me he was choking and he started to throw up a little mucus and I held him up and opened his mouth and still nothing so I applied pressure on his belly in a forward motion and still nothing and I hear no breathing and he is trying to close his mouth but I am keeping it open. And finally I stick my middle finger in his throat and scooped out some stuff and by doing that it made him throw up what seemed like the rest and started silently breathing again instead of breathing like something that was seemingly depraved of 30-45 seconds of oxygen. This is the first time he has done this but it scared me because I didn’t hear or see him breathing while choking and throwing up and he acted so weird after throwing up and was ok again. Didn’t act sick after he just acted normal. He threw up while outside and could be allergies but no one says they are familiar with a dog not seeming to breathe/choking, while throwing up. I am taking him to the vet tomorrow. I would have taken him right away but when this happened earlier the vets around me here in eastern Kentucky were closed. Was these symptoms similar to your dogs symptoms? I hate to bring it up but I am really worried about little Dobby. Thank you and god bless

one time, my baby daughter started choking on her milk and i panicked, so her father grabbed her by her legs and turned her upside down and when that wasn't enough he whacked her on her upper back and she spit up and started breathing again. It looked horribly violent, but it saved my daughters life. but my question is this: IF the dog is choking and you got him upside down, would a forceful pat on the back help in some way? It doesn't seem like it would, but it did help my daughter.

My dog almost died last night, choking and collapsed unconscious while eating food too quickly.
Thankfully i saved her by giving her the Heimlich, similar to what is shown in this video.
First aid for pets is just as important, if you share your home with pets.

I wish I had seen this video today. My dog was choking, and I didn't know dog cpr, so I tried human cpr. Putting him in that wheelbarrow position you stated and sharply using my palm to strike the space between the shoulder blades like you would an infant. Then I tried the heimlick maneuver, but I wasn't sure were to place my hands. And in me trying to figure out what to do, he passed out. I called my vet, having no transportation down there, and by then he was already gone. I watched him die in front of me when there was a chance to save his life.

My dog does this thing when he eats fast and chokes on his own hair also. he also drops a lot of hair in his food. I don't know how to help him he's obviously fine he does that when he eats fast but still.

This helped but in a weird way.so I was watching the video because my dog was coughing really hard and it looked like he wanted to throw up and was acting very strange so I looked at the video and opened his mouth but as soon as I opened his mouth I accidentally moved his head up and he swallowed the thing

Thanks for the video, I've literally just had to do this to our Miniature dachshund, the Heineken manoeuvre was a little different given her size different but the wheel barrow helped and the HM enabled her to vomit into my hand.
I rushed her to the vets and she was wagging her tail and wanting to go for walkies when we got there

I heard my dog making loud coughs and I went downstairs and she was chocking my mom carried her fat self and nothing came out she then opened her mouth and found nothing she carried her and did Heimlich and nothing worked then I said she was just coughing 😂

My dog almost died and your video along everyone else's is as slow as you can go. Try talking faster and not taking your sweet time
u can speed it up in 3 secs by going to the settings on the video, select speed then choose the speed-going up is fast and going down is slow
