That has to feel great to get her in the water after all your hard work! Looking good! Can't wait to see how she sails now. Thanks for sharing the adventure.
Things these days aren’t built to last unfortunately as it’s more profitable to sell the parts or a new engine when it properly fails. Thanks for watching!
Very exciting!! She's certainly a lot more compact on the trailer than I thought and seemed very quick to set up. Can you in theory launch with her folded up and then unfold the side hulls when on the water?
Nice one! The channel out from Wilsons Yard is not the easiest especially if there's a cross wind but they're a very helpful yard, very clean and organised
Re that extender. you can get permanent ones that swing back to the trailer draw bar for the road and swing foward, crippling into a supporting bracket near the hutch, for launching. The done on the flat and no jockey wheel down when launching. These easily break if down while moving as you know I'm sure.
I was sitting here thinking about when you first posted your channel in Parler, i believe. Your videos weren't that good, but I stuck with you. Your videos are really much better now, and I'm loving the new boat. As y'all say, cheers
Thanks for sticking around Chuck I really appreciate it! Glad you’re enjoying and I chuckle at my early videos but I’m really happy about the quality now!
Your channel has become addictive to me, you have an avid fan downunder. I was excited for you watching you launching your Trimaran, She is an impressive boat and would love to sail in her hahaha
Thank you Andy! I really appreciate it! Mingulay is a very unique boat and I’m still trying to learn the boat to this day. Hope you enjoy my upcoming adventures!!!
Thank you! This was Wilson’s boat yard on hayling island. £40 for about a week of trailer and car storage including the launch fee. Fairly typical. Have seen it lower and higher.
Well done Alex. Looks great. Wilson's is on my list of places to launch but I have not been there yet. A little tip with the trailer extension bar, try to only pull straight with it. I saw a guy try to turn as he came up the slipway and he actually bent the bar he had, it was like a Banana 😂
Yeah I think that’s the best way too. Also see people just using a rope to do it! Might give that a go when the bar isn’t long enough. Thanks for watching I really appreciate you!
Hi Alex I am a regular viewer of you channel and are always very interested in how you solve the different issues that present themselves. I have a Boomaroo 22 (UK Jaguar 22) so done similiar myself. Question? how do you find changing the outboard from 5-20hp. It will be heavier so as you leave it mounted towing on the road it will put more strain on the outboard support bouncing around on the transom. I always remove my 6hp for the road putting in the car but have the smell of fuel on the way home.
Thanks for watching Ian! I’m comfortable leaving this 20 on the tri while towing as the mount is very solid being glass and stainless. With my old boat Meraki the 6 was lighter but the mount wasn’t that solid especially since it actually broke off that one time. If it was hard mounted to the transom then I would probably leave it on. I alway took it off and put it in the car. Usually ran it out of fuel before it did though. Could also put it in the boat possibly. Hope this helps Ian!
Hi, I'm curious. Having watched your site occasionally since you started, I would comment that originally you had very basic kit and were doing things the majority of us cash pressed sailors were doing. Now you have a highly sophisticated trimaran, a minority choice of boat, apparently being fully kitted out to a high standard with the aid of support from various manufactures. My questions; Is this making videos your full time job ? How much kit to you get given for free from the manufactures ? Who else contributes cash for you to sail and make videos?
Very good questions! Also thank you for watching for so long!!! So making videos for me is just a hobby at the moment as my full time job is as a civil engineer. Kit received from various companies is either at a discount or for free which helps greatly when kitting out a boat. I only pick companies that I would have otherwise bought from anyway and will always give the pros and cons because everything will have some downsides that should be mentioned. Apart from that all my sailing adventures are supported by my full time job. Ad revenue from TH-cam barely covers the cost of camera equipment. As for this fancy trimaran, it was a bit of a wreck when I got her and needed a lot of work. I picked her up for £10k which is almost what I put into Meraki! Considering in the us these have been selling for 60+ I made a great deal but with lots of work and money to get her fixed up. Cosmetically still a disaster though 😂. I hope this has answered all your questions and again thank you for watching for all this time Bob!!!
Hi Alex, Many thanks for such a comprehensive and honest reply. I was wondering if you had sold out and relying on patreons to finance your sailing! Please carry on, your videos are always informative and interesting. I like the way you fast forward the obvious bits. I also admire the way in which you purchase almost projects and put in a lot of hard work and money to turn them into really worth while boats. I have been watching for a while and will continue to do so.
Your channel has now become compulsive viewing for me. Thanks for taking us along on your journey Alex!
Thanks for watching and I’m glad you enjoy it! Plenty more to come!
That is so good to see Mingulay refreshed and back afloat after all your hard work. What an upgrade from the last boat.
It is for sure! I’m really happy. Thanks for watching!

I’m so excited! Will be a big learning curve but will be so much fun!
My last tohatsu was 23 years old and never skipped a beat. Got a new one expecting great things and 3 new parts in 6 months. Boat looks great !

Great Alex glad everything is working Look forward to the next one
Me too! Thanks Jeff!
Very exciting!! She's certainly a lot more compact on the trailer than I thought and seemed very quick to set up. Can you in theory launch with her folded up and then unfold the side hulls when on the water?
Yep can do it any which way really. Mast up or down and folded or unfolded! Thanks for watching Dave!
I love my Raymarine ST1000 I have had a 2000 in the past but if the boat is well balanced they both work well
. makes cruising life so enjoyable.
So true! Makes solo sailing doable!
They rust without going into the sea. 😃
You picked a really nice day for launching. great update 2x👍
They do!!! Thanks for watching!
👍👍👍
Well done Alex, great accomplishment, looking forward to following your adventures. NZ
Thanks Roy! Really appreciate it!!! Loads of adventures to come that’s for sure!
Glad to see your new boat back in the water Alex. Looking forward to your next adventures 😊

I love your new boat, can’t wait to see where you take her.
Everywhere!!!! Thanks for watching!!!
Nice to see you on the water! That epic moment when the mast is set - pure magic! All the best, Felix
Thank you Felix! Best mast raising system ever!
Such good vibes from your videos! I really loved seeing the rising tides 🫶🏻🌅
Thank you! Plenty more to come!!!
Very cool launch! Looking forward to seeing more
Plenty more to come!!!
U are a skilled, capable dude. Enjoy watching yr videos.
Thanks for watching!!!
Totally impressed you can be launched single handed. Loads of adventures to be had.👍
Lots of adventures to come! Super easy single handed which is nice! Thanks for watching!
Welcome back on the water...and many thanks for your footage and explanations - love it !!! Best regards from Germany,

Thanks Linus!!! Glad you enjoy!
Great to see such a smooth launch after all the work fair winds
Thank you! Nice to get on the water!
Nice one ⛵️⛵️⛵️

Yeah I have seen those! So cool! Haven’t had the chance to find one yet🤔 would have to be quite long!
Telescoping with locking pin.@@AlexGoesSailing
@@chrisobrien5138 might be a good solution 🤔

Mast raising system looks amazing and much better than booking a crane. But I take it the whole set up is not yet day sail compatible?
Takes an hour to setup. Maybe a little less if I wasn’t eating on the job 🤔

Hi Alex, I certainly will Bud :) @@AlexGoesSailing
Another good video. If you dont like gas (I dont either), do consider an Origo.
Yeah that’s a good alternative. Thanks for watching!
Great video, the boat looks fantastic. Could you talk a bit more about the launching site, regarding the cost of launching & how you arranged it.
Thank you! This was Wilson’s boat yard on hayling island. £40 for about a week of trailer and car storage including the launch fee. Fairly typical. Have seen it lower and higher.
That articulated mast raising system looks very slick now you’ve sorted it out.
Super easy! Makes the boat actually trailerable!
Nice boat bro I like the way the mast Pivots too put it up heaps cool Outboard looks like a good one
Such a good system! Thanks for watching!
Congrats
Thanks Tim!

@@AlexGoesSailing I have roped before with no problem but as you know it all depends on the slipway
@@fat_tommo_goes_boating it does! I have done it a few times. Only thing is that you can’t push with a rope!
@@AlexGoesSailing I have never tried lol
Congratulations on all the progress on the boat repairs and upgrades. When was this video recorded? And any thoughts on renaming her?
Thank you! I think early may. Will be keeping the name as it has a good meaning and history with the boat!

Nice to see you floating again. Where is that slipway and what do they charge? Just curious. D.
Wilson’s on Hayling and £40 for a week including slip fee!
@@AlexGoesSailing Nice. I'll make a note of that. Seems fair price. Thanks Alex. Regards, David.
With the time lapse it is hard to judge how long it took to rig. How long did it really take to to raise the mast and rig the jib & main?
Probably an hour for my first time and without optimising. Plenty of that to be done!!!
are you gonna be living aboard? or more like weekend sailing?
Probably week or two trips for the most part! Lots of big trips to come!
I couldn't tell in the time lapse, and just a suggestion, but wheel chocks might be useful when transitioning to the trailer tongue extension
Yeah I definitely did that! Could you imagine if that whole thing rolled down into the creek 😬 thanks Rob!!!
@@AlexGoesSailing lol, I have seen blooper videos on TH-cam, so yes, I actually could imagine seeing the whole rig rolling down the ramp! Haha!
@@robswenson9598 Miami boat ramps probably 😂
