One interesting tidbit is how in the intro cutscene we can see fighter jets take off from Motherwill's hangers. Imagine the Motherwill deploying them during the Hard Mode version of the mission when Strayed gets close instead of Champion-Champs just being there for some bizarre reason.
I mean not only would that be very cool and maybe kill the frame-rate. But it would be more lore friendly and the decks or wings of Motherwill should be filled with more normals and Mts to keep in line with how much fire power this armsfort really had within it.
Like he said, it probably wasn't done in-game due to framerate issues even if it would've been amazing. My guess is this also applies to other arms forts.
Late to the party but I agree with this. SoM was designed similarly to an aircraft carrier. It's only main weapons were the cannons which isn't an issue once you're in close range. In the intro, WG had some trouble not because of the arms fort itself but because there's just an overwhelming amount of normals and MTs. Something we don't deal with in the game but there is enough to put some pressure on the player. Obviously it's due to engine limitations but I'd like to imagine it's probably because of numerous attacks on the arms fort as well, whittling down their numbers and capable forces to a more manageable size
That's admittedly why I'm a tad miffed that Armored Core 6 didn't at least try to go for semi-open world. I wonder if there were more Motherwill class Arms Forts walking around. It'd have big implications either way - either BFF didn't commit all their assets during the economic war, or they were too broke to make more than one of it. An improved version without the glaring weakness of structural damage from weapon destruction would probably be impossible for anyone but the player to destroy.

So many they were holding back or maybe the heads at the time where heavy influenced by GA to not make more. Oh i like that. The same corporation being used as the way to raise our heroes status, makes you think someone had it out for them. An interesting thing I found out about SOM when looking at a page with size comparissons - it was indeed stated there that the height of the SOM is 600 meters, and White Glint was also depicted next to SOM, as stated there, WG height is 10 meters. However, if you stack those WGs ontop of each other, it will take 29 WGs in total to reach the top of SOM, meaning that Motherwill might be shorter than 600 meters

1) The sheer shock from every step it took must've been so bad that the crew would be alerted to leave the leg modules before it could move, not to mention the damage it would cause to the structure itself. Why GA chose legs ? i dunno but its quite funny. 2) The upside-down turrets must've been held in place by god almighty otherwise they would simply rip themselves from the structure, meaning it requires more steel to be able to hold them compared to the normal topside turrets, which means more weight for the launchpads, which would require more material for its attachment joint to be sturdy, which means even more weight- ok i'll stop there. 3) Why cannons for its main battery? They could've just used cruise missile or something because that is a lot of weight plus how in the world is it even reloaded THAt fast, also the maintenance when the barrels are spent does it just mail order new cannon barrels? Motherwill looks cool tho I still love it, plus the lag it caused to my PS3 is unforgettable 😂
Honestly you make poor motherwill sound like a walking engineering nightmare, still I think there is a page on the legs of Motherwill in one of the 4 armored core book so might have to go look at that now you mention GA legs.
You forgot the fact that the Spirit-Class was mass produced. You can find their wrecks (sometimes multiple if I recall) in the background on some levels, including the final battle with J. If I recall you have to take a different route from destroying Motherwill to get the actual canon ending, and I'm not sure if her destruction is detailed elsewhere, so it might be that she was never actually destroyed. Might just be that she was abandoned at some point, which would explain why so much of her hull is intact in Verdict Day.
I love this mission. Unlike with some other stuff that's been talked up in the series, like the silent avalanche in AC4, here you really feel the struggle fighting it. From trying to get close to it to the relentless missile barrages. While it is ultimately not that tough once you have the tactic and an AC set up for it, when I first got this mission I thought it was way too early. Only thing I wish is that the hard version was set up differently. Maybe have SoM take more hits to fall apart, to let ammo be more of a factor. Could also let more troups launch at some point or come in from the outside, like if they had been called back from a mission to defend the arms fort.
Well i do like the idea of more foes on or coming in to aid the arms-forts as these war machine were not cheap so anything to keep them would have been helpful for the the corporations. Then again maybe if AC6 has arms-forts with the power of new consoles and computers we may get this.
I really wish they would re-release all their AC games on pc... I would buy every last one of them again, especially if that means the later games like AC5 and VD getting online support again.
In my mind of Canonical lore, AF Cabbracan was destroyed, not Spirit. BFF realising that to build a another Spirit Class AF of the same size would incredibly expensive, they downsize the design to just above half the Size of the OG variant and Compartmentalised the flight decks and other sections into modules to ease construction and to help with the flaw of magazine detonations. To further decrease the chances of detonation, the weapons which used explosive propellant where swapped out with railguns (including the 2 main triple turrets on the top central section) and energy weapons (the only exception CWIS and Missiles launchers) Bulkhead doors and more advance Ammo handling was integrated for the CWIS and Missiles. A newer smaller reactor with better cooling, protection and power output was installed on the newer smaller variant. Mainly to cope with newer energy consuming weapons BFF went out of its way to improve Damage control on the Spirit Class AF to make sure fires and other damage could be dealt with fast and efficiently, with better crew training and equipment. The one seen ACVD was one of the newer smaller ones that the faction who claimed it didn’t install the safety systems which resulted in its demise.

Wouldn't it have been an interesting twist if we has to infiltrate an Arms Fort to take it over and use it to attack a rival corporation to have them blaming each other. That way we get to pilot the Arms Fort. Abit redundant but it would have been a fun twist on the mission, Either destroy it or capture it for a different story path.
@@armoredcorelore I'd say Answerer, Though Having it wreak havoc and getting everyone mad at the Interior Union, Enough to team up and wipe them out, Maybe as an ORCA Mission to punish them for daring to make such a monster. Though the Answerer loosely resembles the STAI battleship. Just as the AF Great Wall resembles the SRBIA surface weapon several linked End-on-end. The similarities are mostly because of their shape
A nice choice, plus who is going to stop such a beast. Its better then my answer, i honestly was going to say the great wall and just run it about causing GA trouble.
@@armoredcorelore Plus with an Interior Union Arms Fort attacking everyone, Except for facilities controlled by the interior Union, They'll all blame Interior Union, Ultimately weakening ORCA's enemies. So it could possibly fit into the ORCA story path. You can equip dual blades on a quad legs for the forward blade charge strike. Aim for the core of mother will, do it right and you instantly kill Mother will.
Are we talking as they are ranked by collard? As number 9 in arfa is White Glint which i already covered and number 8 is Wong Shao-Lung, who is on my very long and growing list of subjects to cover. Or does your question relate to another game in the series?
There seems to have been plans for a sequel to FA in some way. Why would they foreshadow a stronger, more power Motherwill in the books if they were never going to use it. What would an upgraded and newly built spirit of motherwill replacement look like?
Personally i think the supposed Motherwill in ACVD was going in the right way for upgrading it. Removing all the cannons to replace with energy weapons mean less ammo to light up. It could have become a craft focused on energy weapons and missiles but that's not really GA'S Style.
I think that they may have had some plans for a 3rd chapter but sales and popular trends forced them to scrap the idea and reboot into Armored Core V? Just a theory.
Oh you ask the question. Currently there is evidence for both sides as well we have J, the cradles and the orca flags point to links along with others but well to be honest its never been confirmed yet. I maybe missing sometime however as i get the two fifth gen books i have translated i hope to find something of an answer.

Its is quite the fight and I'm sure many lynx have fallen to the mighty will of this war machine. I know i did first time playing.
Here's a fun fact: If the mission goes on for about 25 minutes, Motherwill will escape the combat zone and you will fail the mission!
Neat mind you i don't think i could wait that long.
Wynne D: AC Lore. Can you hear me? This is Wynne D Fanchon. It's time. Let your viewers know who I am. And try to keep this brief please. No sucking up. My accolades are none of your concern.
I'm not going to give any fancy speeches.
To treasure a life, is that something to laugh at?
Everything is twisted, you, this world, all of it.
For some reason i am hearing Laura Bailey inside my head.😂
Armored Core Next are so OP that this game was breeze.. even this mission was easy
Ohhh yes. The question is which one would you take over?
@@armoredcorelore I'd say Answerer, Though Having it wreak havoc and getting everyone mad at the Interior Union, Enough to team up and wipe them out,
Maybe as an ORCA Mission to punish them for daring to make such a monster.
Maybe something similar for the other Arms Forts hijack an Arms Fort, Attack everything that doesn't belong to the client or the corporation that the Arms Fort was stolen from.
That would be an awesome mission. AC7 better have one ha ha.
You can equip dual blades on a quad legs for the forward blade charge strike. Aim for the core of mother will, do it right and you instantly kill Mother will.
Have to give it a try during my free time with acfa.
I find that hilarious. Imagine the reaction of the world to Strayed just straight up killing SoMW like that, instead of the intended plan!
Can you do a vid on legendary Mercenaries? I remember as a kid that 8 or 9 back was the greatest merc.
Are we talking as they are ranked by collard? As number 9 in arfa is White Glint which i already covered and number 8 is Wong Shao-Lung, who is on my very long and growing list of subjects to cover. Or does your question relate to another game in the series?
@@armoredcorelore i remember a Core that was “9Ball”. I think it was from Armored Core 2 I believe.
@@TheStrategist314 Oh i see now. Yes nine ball will get thier own video.
I've been looking forward to this one
I hope you enjoy it.
@@armoredcorelore I did =^_^=
I look forward to more!
It's pretty poorly designed, but that kind of sloppy work is expected of them.
Thanks Omer, I'll keep that in mind.
There seems to have been plans for a sequel to FA in some way. Why would they foreshadow a stronger, more power Motherwill in the books if they were never going to use it.
What would an upgraded and newly built spirit of motherwill replacement look like?
It could probably be even larger than the original. However, in terms of the design, we have no idea.
Do answerer next
Is Armored Core V a sequel to For Answer?
Oh you ask the question. Currently there is evidence for both sides as well we have J, the cradles and the orca flags point to links along with others but well to be honest its never been confirmed yet. I maybe missing sometime however as i get the two fifth gen books i have translated i hope to find something of an answer.
Surprised people still remember this series.
And Souls fans say that Armored Cores lore isn't deep and rich...
It is called "Spilit of Motherwill". Fake lore channel.
0:07 that's the name right there in the game
Ha ha well dam i guess i must not have used my sound track of acfa to get the spelling of mother will correct.
You've no idea how happy it makes me that you do ACFA. It makes me so happy... like seriously...
Thank you, it is always encouraging to hear these video are making people happy.
@@armoredcorelore you're welcome, you've earned the praise. This game means a lot to me, so seeing someone finally cover it... it makes me feel good.
