    1. Comparing Stock SSIV to SFVI is moot point. The fact that the entry fee is still around the same price is a blessing considering the amount of DLC that has to be purchased for each console used to stay current. Be glad TOs are not raising the price on each game every time a new character DLC pack comes out.
    2. Take any stream from EVO 2010 and compare it to most locals (or hotel matches) and the quality and production is on par or greater than that of that EVO. It’s one of the factors that push TOs to give locals a big tournament feel. All of that costs money. The electricity needed to run a tournament is is going to raise anyone’s bill compared to just operating normally. Plus, the venue may have to buy additional equipment (battery backups, surge protectors, power conditioners), just to be able to run the tournament.
    3. If you want to try and keep venue fess down, donate to the venue directly to help cover their bills and expenses. Electricity is one thing, but water, toiletries, and food/snacks are all things that should be factored in why you’re paying a higher venue fee. Why should the venue fee be less, when you use more resources than regular events held at that same venue?

    Every week paying $50? Nahh.
At Electric Cancel in 2019 i paid $69. $35 to enter, $20 for the Tekken tourney, $10 for VF5FS tourney and taxes. It wasnt a local, but it was a local major. The place had a lot of set ups, drinks, merch, etc. I felt it was worth it.
I went to the same venue as a local and its free to enter, but $10 per game entered. So if i played the same titles for a weekly itd be $20. They could easily charge more, but they didn't and itd be packed weekly.
Unfortunately COVID killed it. Ive found a few have popped up close to me since, but even they charge between $5-$10 to enter and games depending. Theyre not as nice and they seem worth it. If they charged what filipino man paid ppl would probably stop showing up. Lifes too expensive already.

You said all the things at that event you paid 69 for made it worth it, but shouldn’t that feel be at locals every week too?
Shouldn’t locals feel like an atmosphere that’s worth it to come to every week? Not saying 50, but higher than the 5 people keep saying.

@@TVFGC yeah, but I'm not gonna pay $50 then not have enough casual set ups and a lot of small venues don't. There's an arcade near me that does a local and there's only 2 set ups. I think the price has to match the experience. I don't mind very lil setups if I'm paying under $20.
Of course I'm speaking from my experience where I live. If I lived somewhere the cost of living is lower than I'd probably be cooler spending more.
Right now im trying to work out something with a gaming cafe. Maybe putting on and trying to build a local scene will change my mind.

The thing is how will they evolve to more setups and a bigger venue without people being willing to pay more?
They should find a way to figure it out all themselves? So I agree it doesn’t have to be fifty but more than the cheap price people pay.
We complain about locals dying but attack them for being too much in this economy?

@@TVFGC I get that too. Just saying you can't start there. If it's built, ppl will come, but if you make it unreasonable they're not coming back weekly. Monthly maybe.

The people running these local events need to know how to run these things first. Unfortunately, as with all FGC stuff, everyone does the "monkey see, monkey do" philosophy of work and think it's going to work out for them. And quite frankly, there aren't enough business minded people in this community.
