SF6 at release was a whole lot better than SF5 at release. Point, blank, period. SF5 over its cycle got better, and when SF7 comes, everyone will talk about how great SF6 was.

Im glad they added Clive instead of Tifa I'm not too familiar with FF games but Tifa just seems to be a very generic big boob lady with little to no interesting character traits. While I hate playing against him Clive is a better edition to Tekken.

I mean maybe these games are made more for causals then tournaments

guilty gear is pretty solid as a new player. sf6 is solid as a new player and the same goes with tekken 8. this last round of major fighting games (i feel) was geared towards newer fighting game players or players who are new to any one game. FGC is full of players that are afraid of change in my honest opinion. I hated sf6 when it came out but when I sat down and gave it a chance I put 250hr in within a couple months. same goes with guilty gear (which im new on), i gave it a shot before, didn't understand the mechanics and dropped it, but once I sat down and gave it another shot it was one of the most fun fighting games ive every played.

Basically it was the dark ages for Capcom Fanboys who refuse to play anything other than Street Fighter or Marvel smh

I literally don’t see a big problem from these communities, the only game I see having REAL PROBLEMS is Mortal Kombat but that’s due to be connected to the money consumer better known as Warner Brother, Discovery. If you’re complaining about DLC that don’t interest you and you have a choice to buy them or not then you need to step outside ISTG, basically you have a perfect game but the problem is the DLC is boring but it doesn’t really effect the game, the characters just aren’t interesting and I don’t need to buy it. Street Fighter and other fighting games DIDNT HAVE EXTRA GAMEMODES OUTSIDE OF 1v1/2v2 on their first release. I’m not saying you should be grateful for having any but IT SEEMS LIKE YOU FORGOT THE ENTIRE POINT OF A FG… it isn’t to have fun running through towers/gamemodes. It was fighting and building your skill in it. This entire convo is dumb outside of the money greed in the FGC.

Tekken 8 DLC was well received, all things considered. Everyone loved the return of Hei, Lydia and Eddie were OK and people got mad that it wasn't Tifa when Clive dropped (myself included). Heihachi carried season 1. We got Anna for season 2 too.

I'd say ggst is in a very weird place, some characters are so fun to play with their gameplay and everything and then you got POT who basically is the most busted it has ever been. While you have sol badguy who was always busted in some way or another get CUCKED by arcsys, I mean he is THE GUILTY GEAR at least let him have something bruh

I feel like nobody in the fgc can be satisfied anymore, I've seen people hating the fact that sf6 has guest characters when it literally has brought new people to sf along with modern controls being a gateway into the game for casual players. I've loved the game myself since I moved away from mk1 and my biggest problems with sf6 have been no proper story mode (though world tour is fun to play) and lackluster customization but other than that its a great game. Hopefully city of the wolves can calm all of the fgc down when it releases and people just enjoy what they want at this point

No one talks about Brawlhalla, but the devs of that game really put on for it and give it's players reason to play. Crazy prize pots in a series of tournaments every year, great crossovers and guest characters. It's nuts. I've been on and off it for a few years. It's fun and easy to pick up, but online they're pretty vicious. Nothing casual about those players lol.

Final Fantasy VII is extremely over saturated in the game industry. Thank GOD they added Clive and not tifa

just play old fg SF4, guilty gear xrd, guilty gear ac+r, tekken 7, skullgirls like their are ton of amazing fg that will be good forever now but no pple want always more, just play old one they are the best

God i wish the uni2 pc port wasnt so ass and had singleplayer content, easily my favorite game to watch or play at locals or talk about

@7:27 I could use a reminder of sorts, when was a paid dlc in a fighting game good/well received widely? Even if you did highlight a few, the point MrGnL is making still stands in that the bad vastly overshadows the good. The other thing to highlight, especially with regards to DLC characters is how they go against basic business fundamentals, yet we all fall for it anyway. For it to work, the character needs to be balanced in a vacuum and within the context of the game, which in itself is impossible to do if the players hadn't had the opportunity to develop the characters within the meta. So simply put, you get 1 of 2 shit scenarios, that lead to an equally shit 3rd scenario. If the character is too weak, it's a scam/useless purchase, if the character is too strong, it's pay to win. As time goes on and the community voices their opinion on the character, now the shit character is conveniently pay to win, or you were ripped off for buying the busted character. My thing is if these companies insist on having DLC and insist it's the only way they can make money (which in itself is kinda dumb), you better not charge for characters especially. They're too fundamental to the experience and messing with that is invariably a slippery slope

Clive is in Tekken8 cuz of money, plain and simple

My list would be 5. Momochi 4. Nuki 3. Infiltration 2. Daigo 1. Tokido I count SFXT as separate from SF, but even including them I think you are overrating infiltration, and underrating Tokido. Tokido has had success in 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, no one really comes close to his consistency. He just won a stacked major in 2024. Nuki also gotta be on there. He's one of the GOATs of 3s, with 3 evos and an SBO, while also was amazing at ST, and was evo runner up 4 times. Conparing hom to other OGs he is simply more accomplished than Valle or Choi. I also think you are overrating Mena, who I wouldn't even have over Punk. While Mena did win 2 capcom cups, his SFV resume outside of that is not even close to Tokido's or Punk's. However he has been probably the best overall at so far in SF6, so he will keep moving up the list, currently I have him in the top 10 best not top 5.

i think all FGC in actuality are fun and playable its just people havnet adjusted to the skill gaps and this is why they complain because too many people suck

T8 DLC. Eddy and Heihachi have been on the beginning roster since T3 and all others (not Clive but still a Noctis clone) were T7 DLC. They seriously need to release someone who has been MIA for awhile. Bruce, Wang (probably dead) or a completely new character. Bob will be back but again, should be on the beginning roster.

i think some the problem is -the new gen are mostly complain on most of the thing they not happy to see and this affect people older gen to have same mindset ,and more and more complain - old fighting game just have a release and no patch , people forced to either play it or leave it which i think is better , and player can really master skill and character and how to counter which character or skill and train reaction time and actually bring more topic for long term and people can still found new stuff ，bugs glitch combo secret to discover and can talk about the same game even after 10-20 years people still spend 10 years or more years to enjoy the same game thats why some people going back or stay on SF5 T7 or even SF4 and 3rd strike because these game are no longer patching but new fighting game need to follow the trends ,which kinda tired and exhausted and cant apply old stuff people know to show off because of patching people hard to have same topic to discuss because of keep changing found a new combo or glitch ,patch will change it and cant apply anymore maybe people just start to get how to react on what move then patching change everything of hardworking ,need to relearn again these cause barrier of constant topic too

I just think fans just want to see old characters in Strive’s style. Same with SF6. With Tekken 8, is that it’s not that different from Tekken 7.

This is the first time a producer seems to be making all the right decisions to fix the mistakes of the past iteration. Character concepting and animation was toilet tier in comparison to any current fighter and that seems to be a priority based on the v6 gameplay we've seen. Everyone has historically raved about the depth of the gameplay so its good that its remaining largely untouched. Also since the entire fgc is leaning towards casual audience then there's a new caveat for complex fighters which vf6 can fulfill that need. I'm excited

I think enjoying different fighters is the key. I loved tekken 8, but the more I played the more I got tired of it and started disliking it even. Swapped to sf6 and all of a sudden fighting games are fun again. Defo important to hop on different fighters when you're just not having fun or your fighting game enjoyment is gonna drop.
