Hey guys, please dont erase your ORIGINAL Stock SD. YOU NEED NEW SD CARDS. DONT REUSE YOUR STOCK SD CARDS. Its seems alot of people are deleting their stock sd to reuse it and deleting the necessary dtb files. Please follow instructions so you dont have a bad time. Also you NEED to use your own dtb from your stock sd card. Mine will not work for you anymore because the R36S has had hardware changes.

Bro, you're a hero ! I managed to do this without any IT knowledge after my R36S with original SD card was not launching Pokemon after only few days. I even managed to get back my save. One precision though on my experience on copying the BOOT files from original SD card : I had one additional file called "autorun" that does not appear in your video. Firstly I only copied the 5 files as in your video and it did not work (black screen when turning on). Then I also copied the file autorun and it worked ! Many thanks !
IF YOU BOOT AND FIND A BLACK SCREEN TRY THIS: If using 2 SD cards, one for roms one for OS, I found that my R36S would not boot without BOTH cards ready and in the device. During the part where you delete the 4 files shown in the video, if you do not have some of the files the guy in the video has, then just delete the files you do have and replace them. LEAVE THE OTHER FILES if they are not going to be replaced. This is what worked for me, hope it helps
Confirmed working, thanks! Two caveats from my own experience; (1) under the dual SD card setup, some save states will not transfer over will cause the system to crash if the state gets loaded. The actual save files were still preserved though, and newer save states from that point on still worked. This might have something to do with emulator updates in the later revision of ArkOS. (2) The very useful search function was also disabled by default, but that was fixed by START -> GAME COLLECTION SETTINGS -> AUTOMATIC GAME COLLECTIONS -> and then selecting ALL GAMES
This is the best video I've seen so far for someone who is complete newbie, all the other vids I've seen assume the viewer has some basic emulation knowledge, which is a bit frustrating. Keep up the good work!

So little update. I tried jelOS, it was not very good, then I came back to this video and just went with your whole process lmao. Rgb30 had me too JelOS pilled I fear.
At the screen scraper part: it didn't create an images folder for every console, but it did download all the 2d boxart pictures for all consoles though, i have now images folders for most of the Nintendo consoles except the snes

Anyone have trouble with the second (ROM) SD card slot? I am formatting my new SD card to Fat32 but the R36S isn't recognizing the new card, says it can't find a properly formatted card. It still recognizes the stock card as properly formatted and working.
FOR ANYONE LIKE ME THAT IS MISSING SOME OF THE FILES HE SAID TO DELETE: I only had 2 of those files on my stock SD card, I just copied those 2 into my new sd card and deleted the 2 that needed to be deleted, the extra 2 I had I just left and my device worked fine

this is the best tutorial i have seen so far, but i just have 1 question so please answer. Where did you get your roms folder from (your games), did you get them from the old sd card by dragging them out or did you download them from somewhere else?
For me it never loads up and the files are flashed and all. Its just a black screen for me. I did the steps over 4 times and nothing. Am I doing something wrong here?

The Upgrade worked perfectly, thanks to you. But does anyone have the same problem, that the emulators on the stock-OS are better running? I can hardly play psp-games which worked far more better on the stock-OS. gb, gba is no big deal. But the higher demanding systems seems in need for configuration.
I followed all the procedures as outlined in the video. I replaced the SD card with a Sandisk 128GB one. After transferring the data to the SD card and inserting it into the console, it displays the system logo and then goes to a black screen. It doesn't move past the black screen. I also noticed that when using Rufus, it only shows the BOOT partition. It doesn't create the EASYROOMS partition, and there's no option to change the drive letter. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Have you a video showing how to set the emulators up at all? My Snes/Genesis/ Arcade are all fine, but I'm stuck when it comes to trying to play Amiga/C64 and probably most disk/cassette based games (I'm ok with Zx48k tho). Idk if anyone else has ran into the problem I did. If you're using a laptop and have a micro SD to SD adapter Rufus wouldn't pick up my micro SD. I just needed to get a USB adapter and it worked. Hope this helps someone.

I got a lot done thank you. A few problems I had when following your steps, you didn't say where to get the bios, so I grabbed them from the stock card and hope that's good enough, also when doing a 2 card setup the roms card didn't load the game folders so I have to create them, i hope I can just grab them all from the OS card where they did get created.
Thank you for the tutorial. I succeed the method you're showing but I experiment few problem. 1) Some directional button are reversed or not working (the problem is recurrent for all the games of a given console) 2) some games are not working for example Dr Mario 64

Hi guys I just purchased my device and after the second day it suddenly stopped working. The device starts up to the boot logo and then a blank screen nothing happens thereafter.. please help
update ive fixed it i do not have all my consoles on screen but i did get the playstation console to appear on like in the video so im glad altho i only have that one i did go in scapper and used the box insted of simple installement and it worked now i have to do it with each consoles or only the ones im gonna use anyway
Nice video, yesterday I was following some youtuber, he didn't explained so well how to update arkos, then I started to install the file and I couldn't start the console, always black screen, tried several times, I just get luck for someone said there was a file from Spain, that Worked, but I didn't remove those files, but after doing that, the console was working.. Just be carefull when trying to update your arkos, sometimes is better to leave as it is.

At the very end of my first boot it doesn't properly start up, instead I'm just left with an orange underscore symbol. Every time I turn the console on after that, it's always the same. I followed every one of your instructions. What else can I do?

I am playing Pokemon games in GB/GBA and would like to speed through cutscene, battle etc. 3. In RetroArch there are menu for Cheat, where can i get these cheat files?. 1. Join my discord. 2. This features in not called frame skip but fast forward. Usually, this is already mapped to R2. If not, try select + R2. 3. The only cheats I've found to work are codebreaker cheats. You can look these up. I made another video on my channel about adding cheats in pokemon. You can watch this on how to do it. Cheats are version specific. This means a cheat will work on V1.0 but not V1.1 or V1.2 if a game has different versions.

when adding background music, how does the OS interact with it? Does it choose a random one? Loop, restarting the playlist every time you exit to the menu? Select a specific one in the menu and always refer back to it until changed? update: ignore, figured it out on my own. Anyone reading this know that the background music is randomly chosen when you exit and randomly queues a new one when it finishes.

Bios files are important system files that some emulators need to run games. Some examples are gameboy, gameboy color, and gameboy advance. These files can be found on your stock sd card in a folder labeled "BIOS" ROMs or Read Only Memory is a general term used to describe game files. Games files or Roms can also be found on the stock sd card. It important to note it is also best practice to source these games and bios files yourself on the internet as what you will find will likely be better than what is on the stock sd cards. However, if you dont want to go through the hassle of gathering those files, you can simply use the ones on your stock sd card.

This is a very simple request, would you please create an ISO dump file of your SD card, with all your tweeks and settings and share it for download? You can remove the games from the file.

When I first got my Orange R36S one of the first things I did was remove the back sticker. I trimmed it and put it under the battery.
What is the purpose of putting it under the battery? (Just wondering)

JELOS now oficially supports the Game Console R35S and R36S! An option to select your device variant is available in the "System Settings" menu.

So is there a specific reason why you'd want to install a new OS? Why not just keep the ArkOS that's already installed??
Arkos is the best OS for this device. Also the version of Arkos on the default stock sd is modified.

Lexar, San Disk and Samsung are all solid cards to use for storage.

Did you figure this out? I'm stuck here too. When I tried to boot without them it gave me a weird black and white interface.

Hi guys I just purchased my device and after the second day it suddenly stopped working. The device starts up to the boot logo and then a blank screen nothing happens thereafter.. please help
update ive fixed it i do not have all my consoles on screen but i did get the playstation console to appear on like in the video so im glad altho i only have that one i did go in scapper and used the box insted of simple installement and it worked now i have to do it with each consoles or only the ones im gonna use anyway
Nice video, yesterday I was following some youtuber, he didn't explained so well how to update arkos, then I started to install the file and I couldn't start the console, always black screen, tried several times, I just get luck for someone said there was a file from Spain, that Worked, but I didn't remove those files, but after doing that, the console was working.. Just be carefull when trying to update your arkos, sometimes is better to leave as it is.
Btw, I was using and still stock SD card, awaiting for a new one with a good brand.
@miguelfigueirinha6326 The stock it comes with is modified, so if you update it. It can create issues for you.

2. How do we setup frame skip? I am playing Pokemon games in GB/GBA and would like to speed through cutscene, battle etc.
3. In RetroArch there are menu for Cheat, where can i get these cheat files?.

2. This features in not called frame skip but fast forward. Usually, this is already mapped to R2. If not, try select + R2.
3. The only cheats I've found to work are codebreaker cheats. You can look these up. I made another video on my channel about adding cheats in pokemon. You can watch this on how to do it. Cheats are version specific. This means a cheat will work on V1.0 but not V1.1 or V1.2 if a game has different versions.

Just to be clear you don’t need a Wi-Fi dongle to do all this? Everywhere I’ve read online seems to make me think it’s a must have. I don’t have one so I’m hoping it’s not needed

Hey Javi, i got my new sd card and followed the steps. i got the boot logo, but it doesn't go past that, just a black screen with a little blinking dash ( - ) in the top left-hand corner

when adding background music, how does the OS interact with it? Does it choose a random one? Loop, restarting the playlist every time you exit to the menu? Select a specific one in the menu and always refer back to it until changed?
update: ignore, figured it out on my own. Anyone reading this know that the background music is randomly chosen when you exit and randomly queues a new one when it finishes.
Will this work for other Aliexpress retro handheld consoles? The SD cards that came with both my machines are cheap looking!

19:04 what do you mean BIOS and all the roms heyyy you are skipping so much how do you get this bios and all the roms? is the bios important? im so confused rn also for everyone that cant do the rufus bit you have to erase the last version and download a old one i think its like 3.1 or something theres some people giving tutorial and it doesnt give you this stupid error insert a local disk or something idk
Bios files are important system files that some emulators need to run games. Some examples are gameboy, gameboy color, and gameboy advance. These files can be found on your stock sd card in a folder labeled "BIOS" ROMs or Read Only Memory is a general term used to describe game files. Games files or Roms can also be found on the stock sd card.
It important to note it is also best practice to source these games and bios files yourself on the internet as what you will find will likely be better than what is on the stock sd cards. However, if you dont want to go through the hassle of gathering those files, you can simply use the ones on your stock sd card.
@@JaviPlayRetro i have erased everything on my sd card just like in all the tutorial for the new version of archos and the sad thing is i dont even think i had a old version i think mine had the last version but i clearly didnt anderstand what i was doing someone said i dont remember who you need archos version 2.2 or something even tho every video has the last update on 0.9 im so sad rn i lost like 7 hours of my time and im still not finished because i cant put any game and make this work they just boot up then crashes and put me back in the game selection menu for some reason i think i miss the BIOS that you put but you dont show how to get them

This is a very simple request, would you please create an ISO dump file of your SD card, with all your tweeks and settings and share it for download? You can remove the games from the file.

@@JaviPlayRetro @F_Dot_ turns out I was using 2 sd cards the R36s didn't like... it was a Kingston 64gb and a Sandisk 64gb card... it worked with a Samsung 64gb card
