I twist my fingers together or rub my nails with my fingertips, or tap my fingers together- hands were a stim I could get away with growing up. I used to suck my thumb & twiddle my hair. I also move my toes around a lot, although it's harder in shoes!
My stealth ones are also to do with muscle tightening and release, toe curling inside my boots, and petting my service dog because he’s warm and nice and his hair is a nice texture and it’s totally normal to pet your dog so no one knows I’m stimming. (Except him. He absolutely knows I am and if I start petting in a certain way without realizing it, he will perform one of his trained tasks to lower my anxiety levels)
Ever since I started to ‘unmask’ I’ve felt the need to stim more than usual, so I don’t find the ‘little’ stims I used to do as satisfying/effective as they used to be if that makes sense. But if I don’t want to be seen stimming I’ll wiggle my toes, pick at the skin on my thumbs (not good), crack my knuckles, fidget with stuff in my pockets, bounce my leg, lately I’ve been doing a little rocking back and forth when people aren’t going to notice it too much, there’s an autistic TH-camr who said one of his main stims is a sort of ‘head-banging’ so he’ll put his headphones on and pretend to be listening to music which I think is a great tip. These days when I feel like I need to stim a bit more because I’m stressed/overwhelmed I’ll honestly rely on the fact that I’m wearing my sunflower lanyard with my ‘I’m autistic’ badge and people will understand 🤷🏻♀️ that being said I don’t feel comfortable stimming openly in most situations outside of the house, so I totally understand. When I get home I ‘let it out’ and do some ‘agressive’ rocking & vocal stims, which I would NEVER feel comfortable doing out and about.
i realized i've been stimming with my jewelry, regular jewelry, for my whole life. i didn't know i was 'stimming' i just knew it made me happy and if i wasn't wearing any i felt naked. i think one time i was called out for 'fidgeting' while i was literally giving a presentation in front of class. my hands as well, like you said. maybe it's why i was able to be fairly regulated most of my life and went undiagnosed.
The coffee cup one reminds me of a reusable cup I picked up at the dollar store that had spiked texture (not spiked enough to hurt yourself) I picked it up and was rubbing it all throughout the store then put it down be for I walked out white the stuff I was there to buy. My point is buying one of those cups could be a really great way for someone to inconspicuously stim if you are more of a sensory seeking person without having to consistently buy coffee or something too!
I love infinity cube! I actually have a few, one stays in my work bag (boring black to draw less attention) and a few around the house so I always have one within reach. I also have a couple of hobnail marbles that I like to fiddle with and roll around in my hands, also a silent stim that you can hide in your pocket. I have a fidget pen with a few features, and lots of fidget spinners with pop-its built in. I found the fidget cubes too busy for my taste with different features on each side, but glad to hear you're enjoying it. I flick my fingers or scrunch my toes up in my shoes if I don't have anything to fidget with. I sway side to side a lot when standing or swivel back and forth in office chairs.
At work I can't stim out in the open So i often flick my toes in my sneakers, I also on one hand i count my 4 fingers with my thumb,I chew the inside of my mouth which is not good because it's so scared up...I do the sweatshirt stim too, alot of my sweatshirts all have holes through the sleeves where I stim 😅
Thanks for this video. I've perfected the discrete stimming. It helps. And have used fidget toys as long as I can remember, before they were even called that.
I use to do that finger one a lot, I swapped to flicking through all my fingers now XD, but I have so many stim behavers. Playing with zips, feeling bumps on things, dapping my teeth with my tounge, petting my doggos. Use to jingle coins in my pockets too but someone thought it looked weird so I had to stop that one 😂
As a child, my stims got me fussed at. I was told they were bad, and were distracting to others. Some probably were. Blinking certain patterns, biting my nails, biting the inside of my mouth, messing with, and creating, wounds, by scratching/biting. I’m painfully self-aware, and stopped most stimming. (Growing up, they were called “bad habits”, by others. I still do most of them)
I work at a "mainstream, well to do" office job and I've had people positively comment on both the fidget cube with the buttons and the metal fidget that folds infinitely when I've had them out and obviously playing with the fidget. People have started to be more accepting of fidgets, at least at my work The only "masking" I do with the fidget is I try not to be too loud with it during meetings or talking with someone
Any visual stimmers here? I always watch out for (small) details i can focus on - i'm also a visual artist and play with them in my mind, test out how they could be part of an image - a kind of invisible sketching in my mind.
I use a stability ball most of the time when I'm working from home, the bouncing is so regulating. Good for big stretches too. I have a standing desk, I'm usually standing or sitting on the ball, I very rarely use my office chair.
@@-shenanigans. Same here. I have a stability ball for working at home too that I like to do little "micro-bounces" on it as I work. I like to lay on my actual flexi ball when reading. I'm not actually autistic but am dyspraxic and find these movements/stims very regulating.
i•m not Autistic , but i often find myself stimming . i don•t thiiink i•ve ever been called out for it , but i fidget and sway quite a bit . Have yu considered using a Rosary ? .
Tangles are my favorite!! 🌈🦄🥔
See Dana’s subs growing amazingly. Excellent work Ms Dana
i'm stimming in my head constantly. making a beat in my brain, playing a song, repeating words or sounds that i can hear but it's not audible
People used to always tell me can't you wait until you're stretching after our meeting is over LOL

I curl and uncurl my toes and fiddle with things in my pockets
Same!
I do the same in I just realized I’ve been doing this my whole life 😂

Thank you for uploading, I loved this one! ❤

Great video! I have a smooth river stone in my pocket I play with😁

I do a lot of whole body large muscle stims with flexi-balls basically laying either on my back or abdomen over the ball and rocking back and fourth.
I use a stability ball most of the time when I'm working from home, the bouncing is so regulating. Good for big stretches too. I have a standing desk, I'm usually standing or sitting on the ball, I very rarely use my office chair.

"Training my friends when they do something I like" lmaoooooo I'm so dead
This is very helpful as usual. I'm picking my cuticles until they bleed. I love doing that but then I have to put wound wash on them.
Dear Dana, thank you for your channel.Wish you the best from Russia
When I'm with my friends who are also autistic, I stim way more obviously and freely in public, but alone or with family, I do more subtle stims.

I trace visual object with my eyes or rub a smooth amethyst crystal in my fingers.
I trace things with my eyes too.
Is it normal to stem daily and still be nt?
