I never really liked them as a kid either, but in retrospect, I think those were not very good dishes or recipes. When I discovered desi recipes for them, and my wife makes them from time to time, then I started to like them when cooked properly. Now, we make some hybrid recipes of southern US style with greens and South Indian (a dakshini medley, I guess), meaning mostly if not all Indian spices and served with rice or roti. They still are not my favorite bean, but I like them from time to time, especially on New Year's Eve (very auspicious served with corn bread or makki ki roti).
WOW Looks very good
Super and easy recipe
Big Thumbs-up 👍

When I was a kid I never liked black eyed peas. And somehow after I grew up I love it. Thanks for this receipe.
