What a time saver. Thanks dude!
Wow… I’m so happy I got back into my account. I nearly gave up ❤, thank you.
Concerning the utilman thing, it’s not deleting saying access denied.
If there’s a fix, please upload.
But for real, I don’t care so much , the main thing is that I’ve accessed my account ❤🎉🎉
That's awesome! I'm so glad this video helped you out! If you go back into the recovery command prompt again, you should be able to delete it from there. Thanks for the feedback, it means a lot! 🙂
@@theit-unicorn1873okay, thanks.. BTW, what am I supposed to input there please?
It didn't work, the pw retype to confirm gave a system error 8646 (The system is not authoritative for the specific account and therefore cannot complete the operation. Please retry the operation using the provider associated with this account. I this is an online provider please use the provider's online site.)
If you are using a Microsoft online account, this method will not work. You'll need to reset the password with Microsoft, probably via email.
It's June 2024 and Guess who got his 💻hp 8440p password reset 🎉🎉Gratefull for this tutorial👨🏫📓 ✔️

What if BitLocker is turned on?
You could write a couple of hidden batch files that took care of the renaming and reverse out. Of course ...that means the batch files need to already be there.
Or even ducky script
Question: net localgroup administrators command results in a username AzureAD\[Username] - when trying to reset this user's pw, command cannot find that user. Any ideas how to correctly format the username and reset that pw? I've been banging my head against this project for 2 days since we don't have an IT department.
Sounds like the PC is part of a domain. Do you have access to the Azure domain? Are there any local accounts on the PC? Type in "net user" that'll list all user accounts.
Hi there, how if the user has first and last name? Yours is only "Damien", what if the user is "Damien Unicorn"? How we write the commands? Refer to 4:29 in video
Have you tried just putting that name in quotes?
Hold up! This is for real? I have been locked out of my Win 11 desktop for over 6 Months and never thought to look this up before now. I bought a laptop out of frustration and installed Kubuntu in the remaining storage on my desktop until I wipe the drive or find out this is possible. Going to try it out now. Thank you in advance!
I hope this helps you out! 🙂
@@theit-unicorn1873 This worked! One hiccup was that my user name has a space in it so it took time to figure out that I needed to add quotations around the user name. I'm finally in, and it was closer to 10 months. 😮 Thank you!
When I write the last command to change utilman it shows access is denied. What to do?
I changed one of my user's passwords successfully but when I try to normalize the system by deleting utilman.exe file I get an "Access is denied." error message. How do I work around that?
Typing net user username * gives me a “the syntax of this command is: blah blah.
Then I tried net user username {password | *}
And it said dns sever not authoritative for zone. Not enough memory resources are available to process this command.
Screenshot please
@@theit-unicorn1873 hopefully the link works and you can see the picture. I should also mention that my computer is in safe mode.
Not enough memory resources are available to process this command whenever i click on accessibility button cmd pops up writes that and dissapears
I can't say that I've seen that before. What OS?
You are Genie for me
Awesome! I'm glad it helped you out!
this is awesome thank... I tried to check on the comments section below for the solution to delete the utilman but I'm not seeing any solution... access is denied on my end
From where are you trying to delete it?
@@theit-unicorn1873 from the cmd as administrator... exactly the way you did it, I was following your steps precisely
does it work for admin accounts that you forgot the password on with no local accounts or anything? I'm sorry I'm not to experienced on the computer
Yes, as long as it’s a computer account and not a Microsoft 365 account.
@@theit-unicorn1873 sorry for not knowing but how do you check to see if you are logged into Mircosoft 365 or your computer account?
@@theit-unicorn1873 sorry for not knowing but where do I see if I'm logged in through Microsoft 365 or if its a computer account?

Fix the permission issue in properties
@@DaGaRYT I have the same issue. What do you mean by fix the permission issue in properties? I'm not familiar with that. Please share more detail.
@@martinlindsey1759 i have commented the solution but don’t know how my comment got deleted
It didn’t work for me it says the system cannot find the path specified
Will this work on Windows 10 as well? Got a friend who locks herself out quite often. Would make My life easier!
Yes it should. Let us know how it goes, if or when she does it again 😂
I tried it but in accessibility command prompt in not opening please reply need your help
What have you been able to do so far? Where are you stuck?
Thanks man 😭
This doesn't work for me - I get asked to authenticate to an account in order to even reach the command line.
Did you hold down shift and reboot?
@@theit-unicorn1873 Yes, to clarify, this is after following the special boot options (so the holding down shift on reboot bit worked). Thanks for replying though. I managed to sort it by using Hiren's BootCD PE.
@@theit-unicorn1873 it does the same for me. Hold shift, click troubleshoot, advanced, and command prompt, it reboots and goes to a blue screen where you click the user name and then asks for the password of said account.
I was able to create another account but it is a "local" account apparently and i can't see my hard drives!! Please help!!!
You created an account but can't see your hard drives? Can you send a screen shot?
@@theit-unicorn1873 Sure!!! Thanks a million for responding! You are amazing!

.thanks man! feeling god-like today. XD
Nice!
I tried the shift it won't let me reset it on the recovery screen
What does it say?
Thanks bruh
Happy to help
Does this work on a domain computer?
I have not tested it on a DC. With a domain environment, you probably wouldn’t need this though. There should be other domain users that can reset passwords for you.
@@theit-unicorn1873 right ... was just curious. I could always login to domain controller and change password. Was just curious if dealing with a remote user and their password expired while not "on the network" if this would work...
does it delete the all data when changing password?
No, your data will not be impacted. Thanks for checking out the video!

If the windows 11 has been installed through a usb, does it still work then?
@Nono2630 it should not make any difference. Thanks!
Command prompt doesn't popup
I can't delete utilman.exe. It says "Access Denied". Need your help. Thanks!
Hi Kim, can you tell us from where you are trying to delete it? Have you tried from an admin cmd prompt?
@@theit-unicorn1873 Thanks for your response! Yes, I followed the steps using admin cmd prompt. After typing in "del utilman.exe" it says "Access Denied". I tried turning off windows defender, decrypting bitlocker, and turning off secure boot but still the same not sure if that matters. Thanks!

go in recovery cmd then type
1. c:
2. cd windows
3. cd system32
4. del utilman.exe
now do as mentioned in the video 6:14
It didnt work on my HP Pavilion
What happened? Any screenshots?
Holding shift doesn't bring up recovery screen.
Didn't hold it long enough maybe?😊
Sigh. This doesn't work especially on Windows 11, because one must use a Microsoft account to log in. Yes, there are workarounds to that, but anyone who knows the trick to create local accounts on Windows 11 should also know to use that to create another administrator account as a back door. The people who will be locked out of Windows 11 the most by far are the ones who can't remember the email and/or password of their Microsoft account. For these cases, you need to do some detective work to find the correct email, and then use it to reset the password. Typically this involves their phone, and is a great time to set up Dynamic Lock.
Unless you absolutely have to use a Microsoft account, I wouldn’t.
