Great video! We actually shared this on our Facebook page because it’s so full of info that’s just not common knowledge. Thank you! PS also noticed your reply to someone else that jerkbaits are the closest thing to fly fishing for spin anglers. We do both in our household and your comment is right on!
Awesome, so happy to hear the content resonated with you. You never know 100% how content going to be received, but we felt strongly that Randy delivered some excellent advice in this one.
Fantastic video. These are the kind of details I've been looking for to step up my jerkbait game. After all these years, it's still the only technique/lure that I don't have a ton of confidence in. Last year I made great progress though, and I hope to get a lot better this season. And this video is certainly one part of many that will help that.
It’s my favorite bait for schooling bass. My best number days have been with jerk baits. The tips in this video are new to me. Going to have to give it a shot.
Amazing work! I wasn't sure at first, but everything really, really came together at the end of this! You really put a lot of effort into this incredible piece of art! Thank you, can't wait for more!
So cold the bass took on goldish tint hues! Glad this vid popped up again on my feed again... now time to go and to apply what was said. Great vid! Today’s date 10/31/2020 pandemic year!
Hank, my Megabass 110 Junior has a slow rise to it. I'd be concerned if it slowly sank in the 3-5' water I use it in. I'd be worried that after 5-10 seconds of pausing, I'd be hung on something on the bottom!
Throw a scented tube near hard/rock bottom near some current . Let it sit for a minute while watching line and lift it 3 or 4" off bottom and wait 20+seconds. Repeat
Did he say 6 pound fluorocarbon for spinning gear? I am wanting to use fluorocarbon on my spinning gear but, had a lot of line coil the one time I did and, it wasn't even Winter! Can anyone recommend a good spinning gear fluorocarbon line?
@@robcollins2870 Get a Megabass Vision 110 ($24.99 apiece) snagged sometime. First thing to break will be the line where the two are tied together. No thanks.
Hi Robert, there are a lot of quality "Castable" fluorocarbon lines on the market. Def check out the Sufix Advance Fluorocarbon. Seaguar Tatsu or Yo-Zuri Top-Knot are a couple of other solid options.
Great video! I can never catch a bass using jerkbait. I have stained water here to know what color to use on cloudy day. Also I don’t see my paying 25 bucks for a lure with treble hooks. That’s expensive and I don’t find it worth the price of megabass jerkbait.
It’s probably used to help land fish on really light line. Back-reeling can protect light line from breaking by not relying on the drag which unless it’s a hyper smooth one, can stick slightly when the spool first starts to spin.
My Vision 110 Jr. has a slow rise to it in 40 degree water. The rise rate will vary with water temps. Hope that helps. I've found very few jerk baits that suspend perfectly right out of the box. Storm Suspen strips work great and, I have found that their adhesive is quite adequate thus not requiring crazy glue to adhere.
Yep, a lot of $$$ for sure, but an investment that has paid off for Randy as a pro angler and Ozarks guide (offers specialized jerkbait fishing classes).
Which colors in the silent version are the ones that dives to 4-6 feet? I'm asking because I ordered a Megabass Vision 110 Silent in the Ghost Tiger color but it was the silent riser that dives to only 0-2 feet. I was trying to figure it out but I got stuck because there's no clarification from the silent version that was release in 2018 to the silent riser.
Hi James, Randy was fishing the Oneten Silent with a suspend strip on the belly and sometimes adds a second split ring to each hook hanger to help the bait achieve the slow sink rate explained in the video. Extremely long casts and line (6lb fluorocarbon) are also key to achieving max depth with this bait.
James, the SILENT RISER is not to be confused with the ONETEN SILENT. We designed the ONETEN SILENT so that it behaves just like the original Oneten--only with fixed balancers so it is deadly quiet to target wary bass and excel in tough conditions. The SILENT RISER has a head-up posture, floats, and runs shallower than the original Oneten (as you noticed). It's a jerkbait built for the Japan market that we don't carry anymore. Sorry for the confusion!
You got the “Silent Riser” different bait that the 110 Silent. Actually it’s normally only a JDM bait but the hook up tackle sells them here. All the major etailer outlets have the 110 Silent and if you don’t want your Silent Riser post it on the BBC Boards under baits for sale.
apugali so said the guy who probably learned to baitcast a year ago. Come on up to Green Bay and fish one of our smallie tournaments with just baitcasters. I’m sure you do fine lol
Everything you described and did in this video it's exactly how I catch cold water walleyes in Lake Michigan in the springtime!
This is the video I've been looking for when it comes to cold water jerkbaits. Thanks guys.
Awesome and glad to hear. Good luck out there!

Glad to hear it. Jerkbait fishing is an art form and the closest thing to fly fishing for the rod and reel angler. Good luck this year.
I second that

Thanks for the thoughtful comment Jake. It's much appreciated on behalf of Randy and the W2F video team!
Bass was an awesome gold color
Gavin Argabright Cold = gold in my experience. I agree. They look awesome when they have that coloration.
Randy is the man! All of his jerkbait tips and tricks are solid gold.
AdamSeattle huge fan of his delivery. He held back on nothing!

No surprise, Randy killin’ em with the jerkbait. Great info!

Excellent video, well explained, great point on Silent Jerk bait,I've never seen a bait fish with rattles inside them lol 👊👊🍻🍺👍👍
I’m getting skunked all the time up here in Rhode Island. The struggle is real Man. What is the best color Jerk Bait for North Eastern Water?
I live in Maryland and the only color I have luck with in the winter is bone or clear. (White)
One of the reasons I've had so much success in the winter on a shadow rap deep it sinks slowly.
Hank, my Megabass 110 Junior has a slow rise to it. I'd be concerned if it slowly sank in the 3-5' water I use it in. I'd be worried that after 5-10 seconds of pausing, I'd be hung on something on the bottom!
I tried that and a red orange spinner today and blppphhh skunked . Tried wacky senko OMG everything even some top water buzz plug . Killing me
Spinning gear for longer casts....good one
That ice floating in the background...whew
Very interesting technique!

Love the video thanks for the lesson it will come in handy
Wow. This is such an awesome detail vid. This will sure help me out.. Thanks you guys
You bet Brad, we learned a lot from this one too! Appreciate your time.

Hey I'm using 10 lb braid with 8lb floro leader, seagar. it works for me.

There is a bucket list.. i want to try fishing from bass hometown. in Korea, bass is a harmful fish species.but i love bass

2:08 why don't you use anti-reverse on your reel?

Great information. I suspect I’m guilty of overworking
Really appreciate it Jackie! Most of us are -- the new Live sonar technologies are proving this point too. Have a good one.
Is the vision 110 tuned to suspend in a specific temperature water?
My Vision 110 Jr. has a slow rise to it in 40 degree water. The rise rate will vary with water temps. Hope that helps. I've found very few jerk baits that suspend perfectly right out of the box. #Fishongang approve
Why are they orange?
Not sure, extremely cold water temps must've brought out the vibrant colors.
Tell me why that bass is orange
Editor might have gotten a little to ambitions with the color grading 🤣.
Wow water in the 30s. I thought it was rough here with low 50s :/
Exactly! We felt adding ‘Ultra’ to the ‘Cold’ in the title was appropriate.
50s where he's from is good wiggle wart fishing
About $1500 worth of jerkbaits in that box 👀
Yep, a lot of $$$ for sure, but an investment that has paid off for Randy as a pro angler and Ozarks guide (offers specialized jerkbait fishing classes).
Lol sall this video and paused it to see if anybody caught that in the comments

Meanwhile, down south it's pre spawn and I'm catching them burning a crankbait
Snagged him! Thats alright not everyone can be good with a jerkbait
Them bass you were catching were as yellow as your jerk bait. Weird.
Pretty though!
