This is one of the last songs Elton & Bernie wrote and released before Elton got sober in 1990. It’s beautiful and bittersweet melancholy. Sinead O’Connor is simply brilliant here.

great singer and she went through a lot of major challenges, losing her mom early, her parents splitting. Loved her singing and respected her, but nothing heroic about ripping up a picture of the pope on SNL.

This cover is out of this world. She put her own feeling in this interpretation, she made it her own. It's very sad to think how much she suffered before she left. She became a legend already, although it was at a very high cost.
I was never a huge fan of Sinead...but she did well with this one capturing the raw emotion...

We listen to Two Rooms during every road trip.
This is the jewel of the album. And the album is just perfect.
If not wrong, Elton John himself said that this is how this song is supposed to be sung...And he is right.
The media and marketing machine toss around the words "Fearless" and "Fierce" to describe performers who are anything but that .... people who walk the pathways of safe security.
This woman lives those words. Her version of the song gives it all the meaning and emotion that words can possible carry.
Thanks for posting it here - the mainstream streaming services seem to be blind to it.

Shouldn’t it be “cold cold heart HARDENED by you” (not “hard done”)? Whatever, this is brilliant: one of Elton & Bernie’s best and most under appreciated songs interpreted flawlessly by one of the greatest singers of her generation. Sinead rocks.
"Hard done" is the correct lyric according to the album liner notes. It's either a mistake on the album, or it's another wordplay by Taupin....

I'm not a big fan of Sinead O' Connor, but if she didn't have her antics come into play, this could've been a big single for her. Her take of Elton John's Sacrifice is good & has a essence similar to George Michael's Mother's Pride. Yet, it is too bad it is still ignored.
It's like heaven loaned us an angel for a short while, and just like in the time of Jesus, she was crucified by the evil men in charge. I ALWAYS adored Sinead and Hope that she is resting in peace with her son and her mum. xo
