He goes for walks with our little border collie Annie who is a rescue and very afraid of the world and strangers at times. They both are travelling a road to recovering their potential and it fills my heart to see them regain the joy they lost. I honestly just can't believe this video! It shows HER washing up! Perhaps not significant to anyone else but me! After her first hit NOTHING COMPARES 2 U, the extremely different EMPEROR'S NEW CLOTHES came out. Didn't quite know what to make of it at first. Then , one Saturday night, when I MYSELF was washing up - EMPEROR came on the radio. This was the third time I heard it - and shortly after the beginning, it hit! I just thought WOW! I couldn't get that tune out of my head - and had the most miserable weekend, waiting for MONDAY, so I COULD eventually buy the CD (NO downloads in those days!) But I forgive Sinead for such a rough weekend, because it's such a great song!
I passed by Sinead on Dublin's Grafton Street in about 1995. I was staring at her, she stared back at me, I was in total shock. She was tiny but looked other worldly. She was wearing a dress and a hoodie pulled up over her head, but to me she was unmistakable. She probably thought I was just a gawky idiot, but I was such a fan, and remain a huge fan. Her first two albums are among the best ever recorded.

I love the way she conveys the emotion of the song, her little dance, making a cuppa for an invisible friend, sweeping the sugar off the table into her hand then dumping it on the floor, sniffing the milk to find it's a bit off but using it anyway, then when she pours it into the tea it transforms into clouds and we go flying through them to 'rise above' them and head toward the sun.
