He's the perfect example of someone who is actually interested in all this gear. He knows his shit very well. Nice to see for a change.
Most definitely!
I couldn't agree more..was going to say the same thing!
You obviously haven't watched too many gear interviews with Devin Townsend 😂
Pretty sure these guys are baked 99.99% of the time
Most likely, hehe! :)
Really cool to see the guitar and pickups used, great in depth video, love these guys !
Baker likes Thy Art?! You just became my favorite Motovlogger now.
sonofhorror1995 Been listening to them for years :)
Yep, definitely dethroned Walter as my favorite Motovlogger. Be safe out there and watch for the shitty drivers bud. Cheah!
So glad you liked the video! You diggin' this new Gear Masters series?
Digital Tour Bus Big time
Wow, I did not expect such an honest and in-depth look at their gear. Either they are very open an don't give many fucks, or some how you made them very comfortable to the point that he is talking about using Seymour Duncans while being endorsed by Dimarzio lmao And he then goes on about how they are Mesa Boogie endorsers yet they are using Kempers haha love this dude!
Really loved the pickup talk. My inner gear nerd is pleased.
I appreciated the honesty. A lot of bands are so careful to not piss anyone off. We got the real deal tour this time!
They are very open and dont give many fucks. Its the Australian way
He thinks the battery is ghetto? I once stuffed tissues into the back of my trem springs because you could hear them buzzing through the pickups. I played about 20 gigs with it like that.
This is the best rig rundown ive seen in my life. Tq DTB.

So glad you liked this episode of Gear Masters! We release 3 new episodes every week! :)
Anybody hear Work by Riannah at 6:30
Maybe. ;)
Thy Art Is Murder shows off the gear that they use onstage, while on tour!
What bands should we film with next?
Jyothish Mani We'll try! We've got a lot of sick episodes releasing soon! :)
DO CHELSEA GRIN
Stephen Tyree It's honestly unlikely. We've tried to do videos with them ever since our Bus Invaders episode and they've either turned us down or blown off the shoot.

Digital Tour Bus Bummer. Thanks for the reply.
Andy Marsh smiling and laughing haha surprised.
Does he not normally?
Digital Tour Bus Nope, he always has an angry face in pictures.
Though i don't listen to deathcore this is one of the best gear run downs I've ever seen. My respect to Andy for such an honest review. Looks like he's as big a gear nerd as many of us watching on youtube. Props for trying out seymour duncans and EMG's while being past dimarzio fans. I've been a die hard Dimarzio fan for the past 22 years and the Seymour Duncan nazguls and sentients are some of freshest sounding pups i've heard in years.
Also, the SR5005 Ibanez bass is one of the best basses I've ever owned, too bad that bass doesn't get more exposure.
This is one of my favorite episodes of our Gear Masters series!
Kendrick in the background, f yeah !
:)
9 volt blocking of the trem..lmao..done that myself!
Haha, nice!
70s in drop A on a 26.5" scale...Jesus Christ lol. I play drop B on a 24.75" and use 56s, idk if their guitars really are extremely tense or if I need to fatten my strings up. Probably a little of both
That all sounds like a foreign language to me, haha!
I think they're comparing dick size
He has a 7 string guitar and because of that he needs to use so heavy strings
70 in A actually has the same tension as 46 in E. But his other strings are overkill (54 for the E string is stupid tight). You should bump up your guage especially for your short scale length
Sliminy How many strings you have doesnt impact what gauge you use. Its your tuning that matters. Remember his bottom 6 strings are in standard tuning. And in fact, the longer your scale, the thinner strings you can get away with
Thank you so much, I've been waiting for so long for a new gear update of TAIM!
So glad you liked it!!
I just found your channel by accident. Best accident ever!
If you guys were to do Dying Fetus' bus, I'd worship the ground you walk on.
Life is full of happy accidents. I'm glad we could be one of yours!
We've tried to film with Dying Fetus a bunch over the years and we've had no luck. Unfortunately, it's 100% up to the band, not us. :(
Digital Tour Bus True. But I thank you for trying! I also think it's great that you actually reply to comments on your videos.
Abeth I do my best to get back to everyone, except for the hate comments. :)
Digital Tour Bus Well good on ya then!
Same tuning that Nile? Interesting...
Can you do Trivium gear tour?
We're working on it.
Cool, Awesome! :)
An RGD 7 string is the next guitar I wanna buy, and that one looks fucking amazing in that yellow finish. I want one.
It looks so pretty!!
Yeah I might get one too but will keep the Floyd active ,with lighter strings I'd reckon otherwise I'd it'd need all five springs fuck that 😂 , plus my fixed bridge Schecter 7 ! Spring loaded Wah that would be fucked up !
@@88Nikoli Did you finally buy one? Three years on and I still don't own an RGD but I bought a Sterling JP and am starting to have a preference for EBMMs and Sterling guitars.
Andy is the kind of nerdy best friend everyone deserves.
😀
Interesting, he said previously they tracked with a d activator through a 5150. I think old mate may be a little Mary Jane compromised.
Why the fuck use a floyd bro? Why?
"Hey I'm andy from thaars merdah"
Thank you guys! Thy Art Is Murder is fucking awesome!
No biggie! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Guy really know his stuff and how the bass “is the heart and soul” of a band. Couldn’t be more true.
He definitely knows his stuff to be able to go through all of the gear solo.
Digital Tour Bus he definitely shows passion for his art. Refreshing that he just dosent rely on some guitar tech for everything.
4:30 I clicked this thumbnail because I had THAT exact guitar. It got stolen from a gig and I've never been able to find one similar. I mean similar in feel. The action was literal perfection, ultra low with no buzz. I replaced it with an Iron Label but it doesn't feel as nice and it was more expensive!
Stolen guitars are never good!
Especially when they're basically the best metal guitar you've ever had! I haven't found one as good since no matter how expensive. Found it in a little remote pre-owned guitar shop.
someone can tell me what studios are and who made the profiles mentioned in 7:56, I do not quite understand
Lasse Lammert LSD-Studio, there's a free pack of his profiles on the kemper site
thanks bro
I'm glad you got this figured out!
More of these videos please! :) Really interesting
Well, we're posting 3 new episodes every week on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday! :)
Looms = Cables? haha
I believe that a loom is when you put a bunch of cables into the same line to make it easier to run and not as messy.
Yep! A loom is encasing various sorts of cables in Expando sleeve for easier setup/teardown and stage footprint. Using a loom allows you to use actual speaker cable, actual guitar cable, etc. thus keeping the signal in tact - most of the time better for sound than the one-size-fits-all snake cable options out there.
Best-Tronics Pro Audio Thanks so much for clarifying!
pretty sure thats tame impala in the background
Can someone explain the who ethernet booster thing? I've never heard of anyone doing that, but it sounds genius.
6:30 work, work, work, work, work
Hehe
Kendrick Lamar casually playing in the background.
Haha. Their sound engineer was listening to him. :)
Those Ibanez 7 strings that they have look freakin awesome!
😀😀
He knows his shit x)
He sure does!
The living proof that you doesnt must have the most expensive gear to kill it
Expensive gear doesn't matter if the player sucks, right?
These guys 've always been the coolest!
They're great!
I love thy art and i play guitar...so that's great!!!!!!
:)
I have a guitar pick from him.
Nice!
3:53 that neck pickup is mounted the wrong way around :D
Maybe they like they sound that way. I know some people would do that with duncans and that's why some don't have the white logo
It just allows small tonal variations. I do something similar with EMG 81’s and 85’s. I use the 85 in the bridge for more low end
Ibanez Prestige is perfection.
:)
ESP Japan is perfection. I've owned Prestiges and ESP's and I can honestly tell you that the guitars ESP build in the Japanese custom shop is bar none the most flawless guitars I have ever played or owned. They are typically more expensive than Prestiges but they are worth the extra money. My ESP Horizon NT2 was $1,800...the most expensive Prestige that I had bought was $1,500. Prestiges are definetly amazing guitars though and those guitars are what turned me into a "Japanese built" or nothing kind of player. I dont know what it is about the Japanese but they take so much time and effort into every little detail building their guitars whether it be Ibanez or ESP.
Use Ramen to fix your guitar. I'm pretty sure that will possibly certainly definitely maybe work.
nice,love the longer videos 🙌🙌🙌
that rusty old back up is my main guitar hahahaha
haha
What happen to the Peavey 5150? Dindn't they used 5150s in the albums?
I'm not sure. Try asking Andy on Twitter, he'll have all that info. :)
OK thanks!
So like why is that air norton upside down? does that affect the tone xD
Anybody here Tame impala in the background
Great to see someone go so in depth for a change!
Glad you liked the video.
Im missing some sound demos in this kind of videos. After seing how they wire everything, which amps they use and the pedalboards and so on, play something and show us how it all sounds!
Great video tho.
The vast majority of the time, there just isn't time to do do any playing of the instruments. There are episodes where they play, but it's rare. These videos are filmed under extreme time constraints.
Tbh.. now that i saw this i am gonna block my Floyd rose aswell. Its a headache sometimes
Glad the video helped!
Drums??
Unfortunately, the drummer wasn't available to join us for this and Andy mainly had knowledge of the rest of the guy's gear, since he had a hand in piecing everything together.
What is the name of theirs pedal board
Hey y'all should do Age Of Mercy they are an awesome band and insane guitarists
We can check into it. Do you know if they are going on tour anytime soon?
me with a guitar, couple of pedals and an amp thinking ªthat will doª
Thanks for watching!
Great gear, great band and great guys!
:)
I always hope they'll try it out to check the sound they're talking about.
I'm confused. What are you talking about?
+Digital Tour Bus play the guitar..sound test, something.
Alder Ladybius It's usually not possible with the constraints we have when filming these episodes. There usually isn't a lot of time to make them happen, so we do as much as possible with the time we have. Also, a lot of times there are noise constraints as well. Some episodes do have the band playing through their amps, but it isn't very often unfortunately.
+Digital Tour Bus yeah..I hope it get often sooner.
Alder Ladybius I doubt it will unfortunately. There are just too many constraints when filming these videos. Our new episode with Billy Sheehan from The Winery Dogs shows him demonstrating his bass rig!
Lasse lamert 🤘
Thanks for checking out the video!
I better get a 9volt battery soon.
:)
do you know exactly how it's done? like do you need to adjust anything else or can you literally just chuck the battery in there and its fixed?
what are those iron labels tho
SWeet Gear TouR.
Glad you liked it!
I don’t understand half the crap on the stage lol
It's okay. :)
How are those fuccking ads going
What do you mean?
Niceee video!!!
So glad you liked it!
Obviously they use ibanez
Thanks for watching.
No tour of the drum kit?
Unfortunately, not for this one. Sorry!
That is unfortunate but still an awesome video Thanks!
So Wesley Crusher grew up to be a guitarist? cool
They would be listening to fellow Aussie band Tame impala classic! Loving the gear!
Does anyone know what kind of Kempers he is using on his pedalboard?
Are you referring to the Kemper profile that he's using?
+Digital Tour Bus yeah, those ones
JCFlyingV98 It's a custom profile that their recording engineer designed for them, so they aren't publicly available unfortunately.
That's a shame :( Do you know or have any recommendations for a similar type of profile?
JCFlyingV98 I'm not too familiar with the Kemper world unfortunately.
That 2nd Ibanez, OOOOOOFT!!!
Hope you enjoyed the video!
ooooh yeah is this going to be a new segment?
Going to be? It already is, haha. This is the 16th episode. We'll be releasing 2-3 new episodes of the series every single week! :)
Guess I should read titles better hahah
This is great, I have 15 vids to catch up on.
higler420 It's all good!
0:45 I hope that man lost his job lol
The person probably didn't. The venue he is talking about is a union venue. That being the case, I guarantee someone in the union would lose their job because of something like that.
We were there the day it happened. Felt awful.... was such a tragedy....
name of this model guitar please?
+Digital Tour Bus
If it's not in the video, unfortunately we don't know, sorry!
rammon pinheiro ibanez, Andy has RGDs and Sean has RGs
Thy Art Is Murder Thanks for replying! :)
8:09 When it's your turn for a mic check but you sneeze instead
Why use floyd equipped guitars if you aren't going to use the tremolo? Save yourselves a ton of headaches and buy a fixed bridge. /facepalm
no drums? :(
Sorry! We try to get everyone, but these videos are filmed under pretty enormous time constraints and sometimes not all members are available. We do have a video with Mike Portnoy that will be released in the near future though and he has a sick drum kit!
Also, a lot of our other videos feature drums, so make sure you check those out!
Can't wait for that one!
I use to have a bass with bartolini pickups in it running through two ampeg svt pro's 1600 watts per head into 2 4x8 cabs and the bass sounded horrible it had no volume i spoke to Bill Bartolini at the NAMM show and he took my bass and had it for well over a month charged me for shipping and it sounded exactly the same no power and really thin. I ended up with 2 ibanez basses that sounded incredible. I will never use a bartolini product ever again.
hipster
Is that an issue?
Digital Tour Bus no I was just pointing it out
randomness Oh okay, just checking.
Admittedly I'm not a huge fan of this band but I respect the fact they're very good at the style of music they play . Great straight ahead guitar playing. Btw great channel
Glad you're liking our channel Dana!
would've been nice to see the drums........guitar shit the whole time *yawn*
The RGIX27FE-QMTG only has two numbers in it's name though.
A JCM 900, that's harsh (well, except if it was a SL-X) :P I'm pretty sure I saw them using Diezels on one tour and 6505s and AxeFxs on others,
maybe those were 'decet' rentals haha. I also rembmber Andy's nice-but-kinda-big Pedalboard, but I guess
it really makes a difference in touring cots, reliability and convenience.
Yeah, Kempers are a good choice for bands that tour the world on somewhat of a budget. They are expensive upfront and you lose a bit of the live feel, but the cost and convenience are a huge plus.
Why have a Floyd rose if you’re blocking it off AND not using the nut lock? That’s weird.
Australians are the aryan race of the western world.
I'm not Australian, I'm 🇨🇦. . . .for the record.
My bass rig is a mini form of his.. Im using markbass just for weight saving 4x10(2) my pedal board has my b7kuv2 and b3k (for boost to get multiple sounds from my b7ku without having to change the setting everytime) hyper luminal compressor sub n up for light chorus and a little up (octave ) sub (octave) and a isp decimator 2
🤘
i wish i was Australian :(
