For context, the theme of the album this song is in is George Orwell's 1984. that was the inspiration
Best band Ever
Your wife is spot on. Yes it's much older but it definitely fits in with everything that has happened. The song was used during a lot of anti lockdown protests.
If you listen closely in the last chorus, you can hear the singer (Matt Bellamy) singing a backing track a FULL OCTIVE HIGHER than the main singing. You can hear it the clearest during "force us" and "control us". Matt has insane vocal range.
This song belongs to the album Resistance that was made after the singer read George Orwell's book 1984.
Really? So, is the whole album kind of based on the book?
"1984" is my fav book ever, so I guess I will have to check out this album.

There's a lot of parallels between that book and current events around the world.
Hello Lovelies! Muse are from Teignmouth on the English Riviera in Devon. The band is a three-piece and is one of my favourite bands. Hugs ;-)
Longtime Muse fan here, would love to recommend more songs from them to check out: Absolution, Stockholm Syndrome, New Born, Bliss, The Handler, Dead Inside, Showbiz, Sunburn, Muscle Museum and..going to stop here because the list can go on, and on, and on 😅. I imagine Andrei might have heard Starlight, it was very popular in UK when it came out and it's more..soft, so to say 😅. And just because I'm a romanian too I would also recommend checking out Knights of Cydonia video which was filmed in Romania 😜.
P.S.: they have some love and relationships songs, but mostly their lyrics revolve around conspiracies and are very political, so this song isn't an exception. It's from 2009, I don't think it has a specific event it's tied to, more about the few ruling the many type of idea behind it

Muse is sampling part of Dr Who main theme if you have not heard of Dr Who and it is a political inspired song and can be interpreted in any way you see

This song was played a lot at the protests against covid restrictions, even though it obviously isn't about that. It seems to fit somehow. Also, it felt kind of amazing to have a massive group shouting the chorus to a line of riot police.

I admit I really like this song. I know only one their song from before and I remember I reeaally loved it. It's called "New born". But I will definitelly check some more of their stuff.

During english classes i've learned that "they" is used for those, who has power (e.g. government)
The lyrics of this song can apply to any Call To Action or revolutionary time of UPRISING by the public.
For us in America (called the unvaccinated and being degraded by our neighbors, next of kin, government officials and others) this became a call to stand up and be heard by everyone around us. Today, it applies to Christianity. Another issue will come to pass in the future whereby this song will apply.

Muse have a very varied back catalogue of music to choose from, without doubt they are best experienced live and there are an array of performances to choose from on TH-cam. I would suggest Butterflies and Hurricanes from Wembley and Knights of Cydonia from their Rome Olympic Stadium to give you a flavour. They are just about to release a new album this month which reaches back into some of their earlier themes and styles as they have tried new sounds over the last 20 years.

As already said, the whole album is based around 1984 by Orwell (as well as other dystopias E.G. Brave New World), and they're from Teignmouth in Devon in England, an excellent county claim to fame.

The situation the song talks about could be applied to practically any place at any time... unfortunately😮💨
So, just do not take video from official page, try to find one with some changes (e.g. lyrics added), make the video transparent and do lot of pauses
I have seen parts of videos blacked out or big letters covering some of the video or superimposing the screen with your faces over most of the video. I've also seen some parts of videos just skipped over. Either way, most fans are familiar with the videos and really just want to see and hear your reactions.
Why stopping the music all the time and destroy the song?? It's arts man. Do you also cut pieces of paintings to have a look at it? Listen to the whole song and talk about it after. Dont destroy it....
They have to or the video can be blocked for copyright infringement.
