Muse is one of the best alternative rock bands ever IMO. Some call it anthem rock. There's so much more to discover with them. Matt Bellamy is genius song writer, musician and beautiful singer. More please 🙏
I don't know about that man I like Muse a lot but they don't top Radiohead radiohead's been doing it for over 30 years Muse is new to the game! You also forgot about Foo Fighters who have been out since the mid-90s!
I would argue that Tame Impala is the best alt “band”. Kevin is a genius.
Matt is a chip off the old block. His father was in the first British group to have a number one hit in the U.S. The group was the Tornados and the song was an instrumental called Telstar.

Matt Bellamy expanded on this tune to The Sun September 16, 2009: "In the song you can hear the general feeling that we've been let down again by big institutions, which are supposed to be in positions of trust. Politicians obviously and bankers. I've got a flat in the center of London, which is right near all the embassies and I noticed protests on a regular basis. During the G20 protests, the UK, got closer to really making a dramatic change, a non violent revolution. I think the UK needs one and I hope it hasn't died down. Hopefully we can flame it up again."
This is the first time I've ever heard this band. I really like it, it rocks!
Oh! Listen to their album Absolution. Start there. You will love their music. Matthew Bellamy writes great lyrics and I think that's why a lot of their songs are such great hits with their fans. Plus he's an incredible guitar player. All 3 are very talented.
This is a good one. I really enjoy their "Resistance" song. He has a dramatic voice, which fits his style in this.
With Muse - always, always, always do live performances. They are amazing live. They won best live act 3 times and nominated 8. They won best act in the world today 3 times as well.

Muse is pretty incredible. Check out Hysteria, Stockholm Syndrome, Butterflies and hurricanes. And do yourselves a favor and check the live videos of these. Takes it to another level.

Muse is the another group that has their own genre and creative factor to their music. I've watched live videos of them performing and I think it would be sick to them live in concert. Good song. I guy I used to work with best friend's daughter married the lead singer of muse. He and his family went to the wedding in California.

I haven't found a good way to put this, but A LOT of Muse tracks are just so funky. Jazz, funk, r&b inspired beats and rhythms can be found throughout their discography. Not necessarily this track, but... man i love this band.
I just saw Muse live last weekend with Evanescence and it was the most incredible experience, they're truly amazing!
IMO: Muse was part of the “class” of 03-04 that reinvigorated rock until 2010 Circa finger eleven Paralyzed.
See: Franz Ferdinand, the Bravery, Interpol, the strokes, original line up Wolfmother, etc for more class of 03-04

First time I heard this was a guy singing it on American Idol and I was hooked! Being a big nerd I loved how that "creepy music" sound was VERY similar to the theme music from the Dr Who tv show.
I listened to this song on repeat when it first came out, and then months later it blew up when the V tv series reboot came out. This is the song that got me into Muse.
Yeah... 💯 It basically doesn't matter what kinda music you're into. This shit is kinda UNIVERSALLY cool! 😎😁
(It has that Motown/Surf Rock drum beat that we've ALL been conditioned by our parents and grandparents to fall into the groove of... which helps ALOT to make it cool as shit from the start, honestly. Its a "song for the masses" that has a beat that "the masses" have all been conditioned to love... 🤔💯)
Its almost an indictment of how easily we are all controlled, really.

The intro always gives me Doctor Who theme tune vibes..
Muse go deep on everything, thier concerts are mental, they must spend 80% of the sales on the lazers and props.
Funny thing, their guitar sings (which mean they are cool composers) and his voice is like distorted guitar solo)
When you take into account that Muse is not exactly pro-government/establishment, the meaning of the song is pretty clear. They aren't talking about anything metaphysical, they're being pretty direct.
Their live versions in concert are great high quality you should really check them out their stage setup is amazing

The first time I heard this I was on a freeway in Los Angeles. I thought oh yea, this is a freeway song.

A critical thinker is more dangerous to an oppressor than a thousand armed rebels! Muse has a long list of songs about social control and the need to be aware of what is going on. That, and that fact they are a standout band among their peers and forebears. Superb live performers as has been said below, and song writing at its best. I have only seen them live once, and I struggle to think of many others that come close.

Asia and Bj! Muse is the bomb. They have a lot of protest songs. Check out The Resistance. Also, anything live by them is jaw dropping. Seen them twice live and they are perfection.

You guys should check out the new Muse album that has been released 2 weeks ago. This band is an adventure to discover. I would recommand You make me feel like it's Halloween or Compliance but they are all gooooood! This band cannot make bad songs.

It’s a great song and sentiments continue like this , gave me a little chuckle thinking of them rising up as they sit at the front of the plane , don’t they turn right to find their seats too often theses days , however that’s what happens with success that comes from writing great songs !
You should always do live versions of Muse!
The last chorus of the song, Matt sings background vocals a full octive higher than the lead. If you listwn closely you can hear it. Crazy high.

Great band. I think they purposely left the “they” ambiguous, so ppl could take it however they wanted, and use it for all different events and such.
Their first hit that I remember was Time Is Running Out, and Starlight was another great one.

I bet this song was partly inspired by Pink Floyd's The Wall album and partly the dystopian depictions of the future that were popular throughout the early 80s and 90s, as well as the tumultuous political and financial crises of the 00s. This century started out on a continuously downward spiral that bottomed out in 2008, imo. I also think, as Asia said that this could have been about any movement of the past 60 years.
'Edge of a revolution' by Nickelback is actually pretty badass as well.
