      @@faay.7 unfortunately not. The interviewer was very nice and rang me to give me feedback. Said they really wanted to offer me a place but the way the interview works is based on a point system. If you mention certain things you get 'points'. The candidates who score highest get the place, even if the interviewers preferred to hire someone else, they can't because of the point system.

    Hi! Such an informative video! Just wanted to ask, how long is the trainee PWP course? Is it just the academic year or a full 12 months? Also how intense is the role? I’ve heard some people find it quite draining

    • @BeckyDoesBlog
      @BeckyDoesBlog  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching my video! My trainee PWP course was the full 12 months, but the teaching lectures were only for the academic year so the last 2-3 months of my training were spent doing clinical work and building up to a full-time caseload. I think it varies on how intense each person finds the role. A PWP role is very clinical and fast-paced, so they will have a high caseload and be delivering lots of clinical appointments each day. Some people will find that more draining than others, and some services will require a higher caseload than others! I know some people have felt drained in their service, but when moving to a different service with less targets they found it was a lot more manageable. Hope that answers your question :)

    Hello! This was super helpful for me at interview stage. Many thanks. I was wondering if you find that you get lonely in this role? Do you work from home over the phone a lot? What is the career progression after band 5 pwp?

    • @BeckyDoesBlog
      @BeckyDoesBlog  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, thank you for watching my video! I don’t really find that I’m lonely in this role, however that’s largely due to my service as we have a large group chat with the rest of the team and there’s always people to speak to. I work from home most days, so I can see why it would get lonely if my service didn’t keep everyone engaged and involved all the time! There’s a few different career progression options, for instance a band 6 senior PWP role, or a trainee high intensity worker role which can then progress into a qualified CBT therapist, so there’s a lot of opportunities for career progression

    Hi, thanks for the video Becky! It's super helpful.
    I have a question. I have over a years experience as an autism/learning disability support worker and have started volunteering for a mental health text helpline for a few months now (fully remote). In your opinion, is that enough experience to get a job as a PWP? Or would you recommend I get paid work experience as something like a mental health support worker? Thank you

    • @BeckyDoesBlog
      @BeckyDoesBlog  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching my video! I would definitely think that your experience so far would be enough to be a competent trainee PWP, both the learning disability support worker and mental health helpline roles will have so many skills that overlap with being a PWP, which is great. The only issue is that applying for PWP roles are really competitive, so some people find that they need to continue gaining more work experience to strengthen their application, even if they would already make a great PWP to begin with. I'd suggest that if you've been applying for trainee PWP roles and are not being offered interviews, then you might need more paid work experience (like a mental health support worker) just to strengthen your application (even if it's only like 6 months or something) and increase your chances of getting an interview. Hope that helps!

    Hello! Thank you for the video :) I finish my masters in Psychology that is accredited with the BPS in September. Could I still apply for the October trainee program then even though I haven’t graduated yet? Did you work for a bit after you finished uni? Is that recommended? Thank you! :D

    • @BeckyDoesBlog
      @BeckyDoesBlog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, thank you for watching! I think you may need your Masters degree certificate first, because the PWP training is a postgraduate certificate (PGCert) so you'd usually need to finish your current postgraduate degree before starting the training, however you could always ask the service you're applying to because I know of some people who finished their Masters in October and then started the PWP training in October too even though they didn't have their Masters certificate yet and hadn't had their graduation, so it's always worth asking these questions to the service! If not, then there's also normally a March intake of trainee PWPs too. I worked for around 9 months after I finished uni, it might be recommended to do some voluntary or paid work in the industry to strengthen your application for PWP training, however there's nothing stopping you from applying now! Sorry for the wordy answer, hope that makes sense :)

    Hi there,
    Thank you so much for this helpful video.
    I would like to ask your opinion. I would really like to enter the mental health care field and see this a great opportunity. I know that a PWP uses the CBT model to assist patients. However, I have found that the IFS (internal family systems) model truly gets to the root of problems and allows for transformative healing. I do recognise the short term benefits of CBT and believe it provides great tools and techniques to cope with symptoms though. If I feel this way, do you think I would still enjoy a PWP role?
    Kind Regards,
    Kelly 🌻

    • @BeckyDoesBlog
      @BeckyDoesBlog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, thank you for watching my video and for your comment! The PWP role offers a great opportunity to enter the mental health care field, however it is heavily CBT-based. If you can see the benefits to CBT and have confidence in how it would be appropriate for your clients, then I think you would enjoy the PWP role despite having a passion for different approaches. There's also the opportunity to progress from a PWP into a high-intensity role, which offers a range of models and allows you to be more flexible in which approach you use. I suppose it's up to you really as to whether you would be happy focusing solely on CBT while you're a PWP. Hope this helps!

    • @KellyKreates8
      @KellyKreates8 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BeckyDoesBlog Okay great, I was under the impression that even the high intensity roles are solely CBT based so if they aren't and you get to choose, that would be amazing. I do see the benefits of CBT and would be happy to start with that in assisting clients. So thank you 😊🙏🏻

    • @BeckyDoesBlog
      @BeckyDoesBlog  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KellyKreates8 As far as I'm aware the high intensity training is still heavily CBT-based but it offers the opportunity to branch out into other models once you're qualified, so it sounds really helpful for career progression too! Thank you

    • @BeckyDoesBlog
      @BeckyDoesBlog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, thank you for watching my video! I know that international applicants can apply for trainee PWP roles, however there may be a few extra requirements needed. I'm not 100% sure what these requirements are, but I've heard from others that depending on what country you're applying from you may need to undertake an assessment to show your spoken English language ability and equivalent qualifications/work experience. Sorry if that's not much help, you can always email the service you're applying to and double-check the requirements as it might differ for each service :)

    • @BeckyDoesBlog

      It could be useful to mention NICE guidelines because the psychological therapies used within IAPT/NHS Talking Therapies are based on these guidelines, and a huge part of being a PWP is that it's evidence-based practice which links really well with the NICE guidelines. Hope that helps :)
