This is a major victory for NYC. As a Detroit native, last year the city had more murders than days in the year. I'd also like to remind you all, Detroit's population is just over 700,000 people and had been decreasing for years. NYC has a population of just over 8 million, and went a week without murder. That is amazing to me. We need to take note of what is going on out east. Go NYC.
i'm actually pretty proud of this city. there's a shit ton of people and the fact that there wasn't a murder is actually quite surprising and nice to know.
People don't know how amazing it is to not have a single murder in a week. In a city as big as New York. I am proud to be a New Yorker this week.

I live in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and as of the other day we just hit our 6th murder of 2013. Couldn't imagine living in a place where a week without murders is celebrated.

I live in the city of Reading, PA and we've been top 10 for murders a few years in a row and were voted the 2nd worst city in the country. Great place to live!
I'd be terrified to live in New York. The fact that it's surprising that they went a week without murder is unreal.
Someone needs to complain to HR about murderers not fulfilling their quota. This lack of work is killing productivity.

I helped build a house in Juarez, Mexico one summer when i was 14 and although i was told of how dangerous it was, it didn't feel like it was that bad of a palace. One week after we left, a bomb went off in the city..

Detroit. Went there for a funeral, and armed guards helped walk us up to the funeral home and then walked around the premises during the service. As a young white woman in a dress driving a blue Honda minivan, I thought I was going to die. D:

When I went to New York on a class trip this last summer we got off the tour bus to walk to Little Italy to go eat and I was offered drugs... I hadn't even been in New York City for 20 minutes... My tour guide spotted the dealer and shooed him away. He then turned to me and said, "Welcome to New York City!"

Was in NY for 4 days in 2011 with my brothers. One of my brothers was out alone one night and a guy comes up to him with a gun, telling him to hand over his money. My brother, drunk as all hell, starts happily cleaning out his wallet while the robber laughs his ass off at all the jokes my brother is telling him. Ends up giving him his money back and going out for a drink together. Only in New York...

the most dangerous place I can imagine is midair when falling down into a volcano while sharks and bears are being shot at you and a homing-anvil is following you.
I live in Calgary Alberta and we have just hit 16 Murders of 2013 which is Higher than most cities in Canada
Chicago is the Juarez of America.. my buddy knew a guy who moved from Florida to Chicago, and in 2 weeks he was pistol whipped/ mugged and had his house broken into twice (he was there both times). All by the same guy. Then as he was considering moving back to Florida, some dude was murdered at a bar just a block away from him.... ..He is now back in Florida.
I'm reminded of Hot Fuzz. The crime rate is low but the accident rate is high

Man, I'm glad that I live in a place that can go two full years without a murder (and has greater than a hundred thousand people). I'd like to credit this fact there are more guns in my state than people.

I recently moved to Philly. There's a whole neighborhood that you just don't go to because of the crime rate. Yeah, gangs are a real problem here

On the stairs in the subway during rush hour in NYC. My mom one pulled a hamstring trying to get to the train and had to walk on crutches for several weeks.
In Puerto Rico, its like someone gets murdered every day, the crime is really bad. Once we called the police at night because we thought someone was trying to break in, and they said they'd come in the morning. Gee, thats helpful, while I'm here getting viciously murdered, you'll come check on me tommorrow
I live in Alaska .. our highest body count is in the spring.. because we have such a high number on alcoholics/drunks that pass out outside, in winter and die. Not until the snow melts are they found : /
One time when I was like 7 I drove through Detroit with my family. I saw someone getting robbed at gunpoint. That was the last time I visited Detroit...

In Norway, the average year ecuals to about 30 murders. And we have bit over half the population of NYC. NYC have 419. I'm happy to live where I currently live :)

The scariest place I can imagine. A box a small box but your stuck I the box an there's no way out, the walls are covered in clown masks and spiders that stay plastered to the walls but you can here then hiss at you as your think you'll never escape and you'll die of starvation but then a ray of death. Not happiness death falls and the walls close in the clown noses all make a loud noise defending you till your twitching dead crushed and deaf. A box a clown mask and spiders....
