Late season Shark fishing! Are the bronze Whalers still around? This is South African Shark fishing!

  • I met up with one of South Africas top lady anglers, Leensie De Villiers. Our goal for the day was to look for some big bronze whaler sharks or a ragged tooth! After netting some mullets amongst the waves with the cast net. We made some serious wades the surf to get our baits behind the back breakers in the open water, that is where the big sharks lurk! I was fortunate to hook a bronzy on my first cast and after a bit of I tussle landed a healthy female bronze whaler shark. Leensie had a brief encounter with one as well, but her leader was bitten off before the tussle started.

    Awesome video as always!
    Perhaps you could do something on tackle maintenance.
    Like how you clean ur gear after a session, how frequently you service your reels, how you store and transport ur tackle, etc.
    Thanks again for giving us something to look forward to mid-week.

      Yebo! As long as they are being used and the parts keep moving all is good, the damage comes if the are lying in the cupboard and not being used

    Awesome video bud 💪 do you not worry about getting washed out go so deep to cast, maybe you can do a video to try teach be to do that 👍🏻

    • @zoolookfishing
      @zoolookfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks bru! We watch carefully for rips and currents. This is not something you really teach in a video, one needs to practice this with and experienced angler to gain the knowledge and experience to do so.

    Mate how are you ? Amazing video, 👏
    When you cast with live mullet, do you cast with less strain or Normal power ? ( so you don't kill it )
    What clothes do you use for going in the water ? A simple wetsuit ?
    Appreciate it, cheers for Australia

    Hey Xander,
    Another great video. Quick question: When swimming out with your reels, is there much salt water in the internals when opening the Stella's?

    • @zoolookfishing
      @zoolookfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bru, my one stella took water after it was opened a few times, this particular one has never had any water in it when it was opened in the past, i reckon some seal better than others and I also think once it has been opened a few times it doesn’t seal like it use to

    Xander what’s your personal opinion on spinning for Kob in the surf with lures and paddle tails, would you say it’s as effective as traditional bait? Any personal information appreciated🙏

    • @fhslife1544
      @fhslife1544 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’d also really appreciate some info on the topic 💪🏼

    • @zoolookfishing
      @zoolookfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is very effective and can be way more productive than traditional bait fishing. But saying that you need very specific conditions and the perfect formation, where with bait you have more options of where to fish or let me say more fishing days. Hope you get what i am saying.
      At the end of the day it all boils down to the conditions.

    I always assume that the live bait dies as it hit the water from the impact or at least close to it by the time it gets eaten, not that a hungry fish will pass a dead one anyway

    • @zoolookfishing
      @zoolookfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It doesn’t hey, i have reeled them out after a while and they are still alive and well! On the braid you can feel them kicking after the cast(not on a long wade and cast like this though) but i have to say sometimes the do die on impact I am sure, i just don’t feel them after the cast and when I reel out they are stone dead but it is very seldom

    Epic stuff as always💯 wish TH-cam would recommend videos like this "one" more to the rest of the world that's watching fishing content" so they can see that we in south Africa have the best and most skilled rock and surf Fishermen in the world!! So chanells like ZLF can be recognized and have the amount of subscribers you rightfully deserve and be financially successful from the channel💯😎!! You and one or two other south African Fishermen that have channels don't use clik bait titles to bloff the people in watching" most American channels the guys can't fish or film they mainly talk (and reel left handed🤣) but have way over 100k subz and money coming in from their channels and people sponsoring them.. Some are watching and learning skills from guys like you here in sa" have u seen their shark fishing videos" it makes me laugh🤣..To me that's bulls..t!! If I had the money I would join just to support you because I smaak the content and can see the skill and also learn from you.. Maybe you should also start doing small 1 minute adds for componies and let them pay you just to make abit more money" and the tackle companies should start paying ull big money because you guys are showcasing their south African based products to the world👍

    • @zoolookfishing
