  • Leica Q2 vs Fuji X100V- An in depth look at two of the most sought after, high end point and shoot cameras on the market. Sample photos, sample video, app workflows. Delicious cinematic B-Roll.
    Shot entirely on the Sony FX3 Cinema Camera with the Sony 24-70mm G Master ii unless noted. Also I was wrong about the FX3 lol...
    Graded using my custom LUTS. Available for purchase soon.

    Wonderful video man, loved the way you presented this comparison. I recently “upgraded” from an X100F to a Q, and while the X100F was an amazing EDC camera for me for about a year and I loved much about it; the Q is everything I hoped it would be and more! As much of a stereotypically thing to say as it is, once you’ve acquired a taste for the “Leica Look”, there’s no going back. 📷

    Such a nice review. Charitable, even. Love the way you capture the essence of photography at the end, “the best camera is the one you have with you”. While capturing their obvious and not-so-obvious qualities, rather than hyping one, the other or both, you offer joy to the viewer to go out and make art. Bravo.

    I wanted something smaller than my ‘work’ cameras but better than the iPhone. Bought the 100f. It was ok. When the 100v came out i immediately sold the F and switched. Major change. The F wasn’t intuitive in the way the V is. Love that little beast. I call it my dog-walking camera. Perfect size. And as you stated, the flip up screen is perfect for ‘hail mary’ shooting with…yeah, my dogs. If I carry my R5 it becomes work. I’d love to play with a Q2 but I’m very happy with my X100V.

    What a creative way to make a review! I want to buy one of these just because I used to be a professional photographer, but I lost my passion to making more money and I took on projects I didn't like to shoot. I didn't take any pictures for another 2 years. Then my grandfather gave me an 60 year old soviet rangefinder and I fell in love, but the process of film photography is just too much for me, so I want something in the middle. Not too digital, not too analog. I will be testing the Q2 for a week, so we will see, but I will probably go for the first Leica Q, just to save money.

    Well-scripted and well paced. You've explained exactly how I feel about the difference in workflow between these two cameras. More spraying on the X100 series, and more intentional and methodical on the Q2. Even though the idea of having a JPG ready to go out of the X100 feels like it would be beneficial... in reality, I find that with the Q2, I actually enjoy sitting down at my computer with a clean slate that I can push in the direction and mood that I want the image to feel. Subbed!

Having learnt the craft on 35mm film cameras I like to 'Feel right at home' using a new digital camera. I typically do shoot one lens, one camera body (not because of philosophy, but because it’s it’s just easier for me to grab and run, on the go, etc). Something like a the Fuji or the Leica q would be a great item for me, but I just can’t purchase a fixed lens camera. When dust gets on the sensor, etc there’s no way of cleaning it aside from mailing it on in for service. That’s really the only issue I have with these types of cameras. Great video and comparison!

    I love the photo of Queen Elizabeth with her M3! I have the same camera with the same clip on meter that cleverly integrates with the shutter speed dial. I've been shooting with Leica rangefinders since 1968. I looked long and hard at Leica digital cameras, but while I can afford them I can't justify them. I have to admit the Q2 is very tempting. I don't have an X100, but have three Fuji X-E cameras as well as the H1. The X-E cameras are almost the same size as my M3. I do wish the X100 cameras had a wider field of view. Great review. Couldn't agree more with everything you said. 9:14 that certain inexplainable 3d pop is all full frame vs. crop. After all, the "crop factor 1.5" is just marketing's way of selling a sensor that fits 2.3 times in the full-frame sensor, trying to make it sound big. But, area is not metered in diagonals, but in square mm/cm/inches. And then we see what pixel size and pixel pitch and overall light gathering abilities are worth: a certain 3d-pop that crop does not produce.

    • @neilr7935
      @neilr7935 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The camera sensor plays only a minor role in the 3d-pop of an image. That pop is the result of a sharp, contrasty lens and shallow depth of field (along with post-processing). Some of the Fuji f/1.4 lenses are capable of producing images with extremely good 3d-pop. There are also f/0.95 aperture lenses available if you want more of a full-frame f/1.4 look.
      In the case of the X100V, it only has an f/2 lens, which is an f/3 full-frame equivalent. Naturally, it can't compete with the incredibly sharp f/1.7 lens of the Leica Q2.

    I'm watching it now... and sure I would love to treat myself as a photographer with Leica but I know I'm not there yet (and it's not a thing I need right at the moment). Today I received my new 27mm pancake lens which I'm going to attach to the lightweight fujifilm interchangeable lens body and have fun with. At the end of the day the most important aspect is making a photos, we don't need a top gear for that... if someone thinks that this camera will make that person a better photographer it's a mistake, will it help with image quality itself - for sure. I'm gonna first try how using prime lens of 27mm fits my style of photography. Was thinking about 18mm one - which on cropped sensor is more similar to the ones present on Q2 or X100V but I like more a bit narrow perspective... Wishing everyone a great photos, no matter what gear you're using.

    I owned the q2 for a year and a half and it is a truly amazing camera. I ended up selling it recently because I went full analog and wanted a summicron 35 for my m6. I can see myself getting a Q3 in the future depending on what the specs are. I have heard great things about the x100v but after using Leica I could never go back to anything else

    i want leica, but can’t do such cool photos on x100v as you do in terms of quality, not composition. gonna learn how to use it more and then buy q3 when it comes out 😅

    I shot with the x100v for 2 years. Love it. Gave it to my brother after a month with the Q2. You implied the Q2 won't make you a better photography. Well, I'm still not great, but I am getting better images and better compositions with the Q2. It shows in my works, i see it and so do my friends. I'm sure there are a lot of explanations, if nothing else the 6k commitment makes me try harder. But, that said, I'm getting stuff I wasn't with the X100. In the last decade I've owned probably 5 or more Fuji Film cameras. They're tremendous product but is the Q 3x the x100? I think so.

    photographers dream of owning a Leica its like a car fanatic getting that old mint Ferrari they've always wanted. Its not practical at all but it so perfect. With that being said I hope they put a 35mm on the Q3 so I can leave my Sonys in the camera closet.

    Excellent video! Fabulous production quality. One request though... turn down the music. I actually had to turn on the subtitles to pick up everything you were saying. I'm here for camera info, not tunes.
    Cheers!

    lol comparing 6k camera to a 1.4k camera is hilarious. i really wish i could find an alternative to the fuji because i cant seem to find it. this was a beautiful camera comparison though.

    I don't think it is a fair comparison. although I am a Fuji fan, but APSC vs Full Frame, that is no way it can be the same quality. That is supposed to be the same quality lenes on both cameras, which is not.

    I just got my first camera with interchangeable lenses. Second hand Lumix gx800 for £170 came with a bag and a mini tripod. I don't know how could people live without a tilting screen? I almost could hear the Japanese shouted to the German " stay where you are! Don't move! That's right! You look very good... Be mindful and thoughtful! Yeah that's it! You look cool!..."

    While the Fuji X100 series are great (my favorite, I've owned several) APS-C cameras, the Leica Q's put these cameras to shame. The IQ alone is simply non-comparable. Leica full frame sensor paired with one of the sharpest Leica lenses ever is stratospheres above the Fuji X100 series.

  • @itzSinno

    The fact that the x100v is being compared to a camera that’s worth $8000 and 4x it’s price is a huuuuuuge and instant W for the x100v.

    Apples vs oranges, you can buy more than 3 fujis for the Q2... The comparison should be with the Leica d-lux 7 they are similarly priced and the fuji womps the Leica

    impossible to put the Q2 in a pocket ... end of the battle

  • @n0w3lly90
    @n0w3lly90 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is not a like-for-like comparison at all. Firstly, they are not even close to being in the same price bracket: you can get 4 x X100Vs for the price of 1 x Q2. Next: the Leica is a full frame camera, the Fuji is an APS-C. That means also that the 28mm lens on the Q2 is 28mm. The Fuji lens is an "equivalent" focal length to 35mm. The closest competitor to the Leica was the Sony RX1Rii. Both were the only two cameras in the true full frame digital compact class.

    I never feel Leica Q is a beautiful designed camera. I much prefer Fujifilm 100v look. Also the build quality of X100v is really really good. I much prefer to buy Leica SL body if I am going to invest for Leica
