it truly is... imagine someone comparing almost any other electronic or why not optical device h2h with something 4x the price... with the fuji x series so many actually bother.
As an X-E3 ($300 usedI + glass) owner, I like that it's not laughable to compare an X-E4 to a Q2. Of course they aren't the same, but it's nice to not feel like us Fuji peeps are missing out. Great video! 📷
The Ricoh GRIII with its 28mm equivalent lens would be a great addition to this comparison because like this camera all four featured are popular with or sought after by street photographers.
I have been a heretic all my adult life (relatively speaking). I have also been a working photographer for fifty years. I own a Fuji X-E3 which I recently acquired new (I'm cheap) and I liked the ergonomics better than the X-E4. It is a superb camera. I have been using TTArtisan and 7 Artisans lenses with it and I feel like a robbed a bank they are so good. I just sold my beloved M8 and M9 for an M-P240. In addition to my Leica glass I also am using TTArtisan glass. I have not had enough time with the M-P 240 but on a few first dates I am impressed and thank the photo Gods the buffer improvement means I won't expire waiting for the camera to write to the memory card. That being said it is a frickin brick and although I have big hands it is heavy compared to the M8 and M9. I also bought it for focus peaking as my eyes are not what they were and that is a great help with the EVF finder. I also love the fact I can use "R" lenses and any other of my ridiculously large lens collection with adaptors. The video option (LOL) is irrelevant. I love Leica. I REALLY do. However the performance of the Fuji cameras is at least equal and if they produce a full-frame 24X36 camera... well I will light a candle and cry myself to sleep.
The x-e4 + 18f2 without the lens hood is crazy compact. If 28mm is your focal length and value having a compact kit, it’s a huge bonus imo. It’s become my daily driver. Toss in the 35f1.4 if you want to carry an extra prime and it’s a killer combo. Add a 27mm pancake and you get a pocketable x100v-ish equivalent. I do like the x100v hardware a lot and money is no problem, but the x-e4 is really an x-pro with the x100’s form factor, and I don’t want to have multiple cameras. I’d totally recommend it.
yes yes yes! I have both! My fav is my x100v with the fav lens 23mm (35mm). i bought x-e4 for the another lenses - 18mm, 27mm, 18-135m, 100-400mm. But my love is x100v
Interesting video! I started using Leica in 1968. I’ve had my current M3 for over 40 years. I’ve looked at digital Leica more than once. I can easily afford one, but I can’t justify one, even though my wife encouraged me to buy one. Luckily I found Fuji. I started with the E3 and now have an E1, E2s and H1. I’d love to add a 100V. I find my E series cameras a much fun to use as my M3. Results are great as well.
If that is the case, can I ask you sir if you have any design request or job to offer so I can get myself an iPhone 13 mini that I need to continue work on my dream and also for my photography interests too? Currently I'm working on my first origami book and do freelance logo design service too, let me know if you need anything!
I used an X100F with WCL daily for an entire year. It was a fantastic camera. The 1.5 crop goes down to a 1.2 crop with the WCL… but it’s obviously still the same DR and IQ as an apsc (not a bad thing, Fujifilm IQ is great). I found that shooting the X100F at 2.0 had soft images, the lens should be shot at 2.8 minimum, and only lower than 2.8 for very low light situations. I just feel like that Q2 is everything I hoped the X100F was. The Q2 is the X100F without compromise.
I've bought and sold the X100V, and the X100F before it three different times each and just couldn't fall in love with it. I tried the original Q1 and love it. I reluctantly sold it as I started to get more into video production. Thankfully I had an opportunity to buy a Q2 from a friend and holy crap - it's a stunner. I won't ever sell it.
Yup! My Q2 is my "one camera to rule them all" for sure. I hope it never comes to this, but if I had to get rid of all may cameras except for one, it would be the keeper. It's just so versatile and the image quality is amazing.
My choice would be a (still available new) X-E3, which is not handicapped by the removal of the second command dial and ergonomic grip. Add the 18mm f/2 and you're ready to go. Now take that the multi-thousands of dollars saved and travel. Actually go do photography in some cool places. Then spend time looking at your photos and not spec sheets. Of course, ignore this if 5 figures for a hobby camera is not an issue to your budget.
Nice video Benj. I have the Q2, I got it after selling my GFX gear- and I still have my X100V. I hardly ever use the V anymore, I’ve totally fallen for the Q2. It’s just the best camera I’ve ever owned.
How would you compare it to GFX system? I have X100V and am debating between Q2 and GFX100S. I mostly shoots streets, which I love X100V for, but I want to get more into lifestyle / portraits.
@@croninooo I’ve now sold my X100v. I sold the GFX50R as it was so slow- I just fancied a change. Sold all my Fuji gear now and have two Sony A7iv’s alongside my Q2. One thing that’s comparable- for me, the image quality from the Q2 doesn’t make me miss the GFX, but the 100 series is again something I’ve not used
@@MurrayMcMillan73 thank you for your reply. What do you usually shoot? I'm also looking at Sony A7iv for video, but I'm also considering XT4 since I absolutely love Fuji's colors. Q2 paired with A7iv sounds like a great combo.
Hi, for the EVF of the Q2 and the X100V, go in the X100V software, under power you'll find a boost mode, make it prioritize resolution and boom you have an insanely sharp and high refresh rate EVF, Fuji is downscaling the resolution of the EVF and the LCD screen in "normal mode" for less power consumption 🤓
Now the xpro-3 is the best option for a mid budget camera that also lets you interchange lenses! If that’s what you’re looking for. look/aesthetic, balance, af, and comparing to Leica, price!
I wish I found this video sooner. I found it very difficult to find a review of a Leica product that didn't delve into the history of Leica and instead focused on the individual product itself. I recently "invested" into the color version of the Q2 and the images are absolutely stunning with very little tweaking needed in post. I will say that the low light performance is not that great if digital noise is an issue for you (ive been spoiled by my Sony A7SIII). If that's the case, than I would go with the Monochrome version. Great video! and looking forward to catching up on your content!
I have the original Q and I got the x100V sometime later, for it’s size, really. Although the Q is more fun and demands a focus on higher contrast to the images, I can’t if I’m honest, tell an enormous differences in the images. Sure, there’s higher sharpness with the Q if you’re really pixel peeping and there’s the macro mode, but the similarity is so huge I sometimes forget which camera I used for certain kinds of images. So really, the price difference can’t be justified just for some manual focussing accuracy.
If I want to stick to One camera then I would add the 28mm Summicron to my kit to go along with my other lenses for my M10R. If I want to add a 28mm and a camera to my kit, then yes the Q2 with 28mm f1.7 would be the deal breaker. Great content as always!
The Q2 is a beast. It’s only downside for me is that its a little wide (26mm), not great high ISO and zone focusing is not very practice (goes 2m straight to infinity….). Other than that the lens+software correction is amazing, great color, close focus distance and macro are super nice. I compared with a M11+28 elmarit asph and 28 summicron asph ii and the Q2 has more sharpness and contrast by a lot at any aperture until f8….. I thought I’d have a reason to sell it but it’s just a great camera I have a M 28 summi coming to compare. But yea the Q2 lens is amazing plus it has OIS which helps to make up for the not great ISO
Very nice comparison, thanks Benj! I've owned a 100S from 2013 until it suddenly died in 2022, then the factory told me they no longer support the "S" but gave me a reconditioned 100V for my old S + $935. I've absolutely loved the V. Have both the WCL and TCL from the S, they still work fine on the V but get less use these days. IMO, if Leica came out with a Q3 that had a 35mm lens, I'd probably get in big trouble at home and buy it anyway. But truthfully for me, the V is almost everything I could ask for. BTW, some of your winter pics look vaguely like Minnesota. Where ?
Been on a journey from X100F, to XE-3, to X100V and finally to Q2, all I can say is the Q2 definitely worth the price if you can swallow its perks, but I am not going to lie, I kind of missing the ability to play with film simulations like I used to do with my fuji cameras. I guess we can’t have it all 😁
lol I feel your pain, went X100F, Q1, X100V, Q2, Q1, X100V, back to the Q2. The Fuji is so fun right when I get it but the Q2 is on a whole other level for image quality and build.
Have a look at Cobalt Profiles. If you get the Q2 base profile and then add the "Fuji Digital" pack you can get pretty close to the Fuji film simulations with your Q2.
As always, a fabulous video, Benj. I have been contemplating either an X100V or Q2M, with occasional thoughts of the regular Q2. Started this video firmly on the fence. Am now firmly on the fence.
I have a Q2 Monochrom, M11, CL, and SL2. They are all excellent cameras with their own strengths, but the Q2M is the one o currently enjoy using the most because it not only feels like a camera from days gone by, the image quality is terrific.
Great vid as always 👍🏻 Regarding the EVF on the X100 and Q2, they are the same resolution but the Q2 has a way higher/faster refresh rate which is greatly contributing to the better image in the EVF.
Tremendous reviews and totally informative. Made the decision to buy Fuji 100V after watching your reviews about it. It should arrive tomorrow 11/25/2022. Will add comments after I have used it for a while. Keep up these really good reviews.
A really interesting & informative comparison between Leica & Fuiji cameras. It’s a compo that shouldn’t work, given the huge cost differential and the diff in sensor size, but it was a revealing film about the strength and weakness of these cameras, and the ‘little guys’ - the fuiji’s - are not completely crushed (at all) by the Leica’s supposed superiority. Thks.
If only Fuji had made the x-e4 with weather sealing and the x100v’s slight grip and EVF (minus the OVF option) - that would be the camera for me. I’d also add the 18mm f1.4. Bigger than the f2 but worth it for the silence and speed.
This was a fantastic video! A small misconception though. Sensor size does not have anything to do with depth of field (DOF). It has everything to do with your field of view (FOV), but DOF is purely based on perspective. If you are staying the same distance away from the subject and cropping in the image on the larger sensor, the DOF will be the exact same. Why people think sensor size affects DOF is because usually you get closer or farther away from the subject to achieve the same FOV. That moving towards or away the subject is what is changing your DOF. It is the same for focal lengths. Your angle of view (AOV) of your lens and your sensor size determine your FOV. DOF remains based on your distance to the subject and speed of your lens.
Yeah, I’m pretty aware of how all of that stuff works but to simplify things, I just used the word “apparent” to describe the overall look that each would give generally.
@@benjhaisch good to hear! I only mention it because sometimes the math starts to confuse people. I see even DPs on set calculate stuff using crop factor or focal length. They feel like they are stuck going to a longer lens to push the background out when really they might've preferred moving closer with a wider lens to maintain some sort of scene context. Probably more of an elaborate comment than needed on TH-cam, but I've seen a lot of people have pretty cool eye opening experiences when they learn that. More options for them as creatives! Really was a great comparison. I'm so torn between the Fuji X lineup of cameras. I want something easy and portable for EDC/set photos and you have me considering the X100V even when I kind of disregarded it originally.
Benj, I love your videos. Keep up the great work! I must second the comment about DOF. While I understand your reply in this sub-thread, the video very much confuses the issue. Sensor size has nothing to do with DOF. Regardless of sensor size, subjects at two distances, one closer and in focus and one farther and out of focus will appear identical regardless of sensor size. You can prove this by taking identical shots at the same distance and aperture on a FF sensor and a crop sensor and then cropping the FF photo to have the same FOV as the crop photo. Both will have identical DOF. Of course, as you wrote here, moving up or back to get an identical FOV (though different perspective) does change the apparent DOF. Yes, moving closer or farther from the in focus subject due to FOV with different sensor sizes indeed changes the perspective but not the actual DOF. Doing the above experiment with two different distances to obtain the same subject size might prove interesting! Having been in photography for 60 years, it is interesting to see how misconceptions get spread so easily these days. Like the analog photography book a few years ago that said f-stops got their name because the aperture ring stops at each aperture click (detent)! LOL! I guess they never heard of Waterhouse! And don’t get me started on the so-called “rule” of thirds! Ask Bruce Barnbaum about that one! Maybe I’m becoming an old curmudgeon! LOL! My M10-M and M10-R are both wonderful. My X100V is a lot of fun, too! I’ve been waffling on the WCL and may finally have to bite the bullet! Thanks again for your wonderful and informative videos!
I’ve had a lot of great cameras. Some I have no emotional connection to. Others I do. After many years, for personal photography, the enjoyment of the process (and camera) is most important. Because if I enjoy it, I will shoot more. I will shoot better. And I will share them with people I care about, the enjoyment coming round circle.
Good review and some valuable information. I have M-E 220 with Orion-15. Not expensive in Leica prices. To have low budget 28mm camera, I added 100+USD Ricoh GRDIII with f1.9 lens, which is focusing something like two cm in macro mode. I use it for personal photos and even took it on three weeks trip. Worked well for me.
Great video, thank you. I've often considered adding the X-E3 or 4 to my line up. At present I mostly use an X-T30 and X100S, both of which I love. I'm afaid Leica remains outside my reach, but one can dream. Thanks for a great channel.
I think it also depends on how you like to physically shoot a 28mm focal length. At arms length like a phone using your wrist to find different angles of view = lighter camera (Xe4/X100/Ricoh GR etc), heavier camera like the leicas = on a neck strap and using the viewfinder to take more considered photos. That's how it is for me anyhow, the leicas are too heavy to carry for long on a wrist strap to get those weird angles, but then I'm probably more feeble than most 💪🏻. I have 3 (all older versions) out of the 4 cameras and use them all.
Thanks for the overview of these cameras, I like the style of photos you shoot and decided to go with a Leica Q-P. I'm really excited to try this style of camera.
X100V ended up my choice - the leaf shutter and usefulness of the tiny flash would have been worth mentioning as it really does add to the ways you can create images when out and about.
My thought exactly. The magic of the X100V is the leaf shutter and flash. I've seen many reviews comparing the X-E4 and the X100V with no mention of the leaf shutter/flash.
it's also the shutter and flash sync speed - the x100v and Q2 are leaf shutters capable of flash sync across all the shutter speeds, whereas the other 2 are limited to lower shutter speeds. Leaf shutters are also far quieter.
I owned the original Q1 and the M10 with 28 Summicron v2. When the 28 Summilux was released, I tried that out, and could not "un see" the difference between that lens and the Q's 28mm, so I sold the Q1 to a colleague. Definitely try out the 28 Summilux when you have the chance. Also, Leica does make a 90 degree eyepiece adapter if you want to work at lower angles, and even offers the live view through the iPhone Fotos app for no extra cost, assuming you have an iPhone. My latest addition for 28mm, I picked up a SMC Pentax-M 28/2.8 for my MX just yesterday. A fun focal length for sure.
@@benjhaisch it is a beautiful lens man - true it is expensive but it will be your 28 for life so in a course of 15 years it is not that expensive after all and works flawlessly on M10 variants color/monochrome and Sl2 - sharper than the Fle and actually better than the Q2 lens hands-down optically speaking
Just got a fujifilm 18/2 and a fujifilm x-a10. It’s pre x-trans sensor, which is interesting. I’m really liking it, and I’m having a ton of fun shooting again
Nice video. Maybe a follow up comparing similar photos. I’ve had Q, Q2, many M’s. Now testing the X10lV. So far I like the functionality for the price of the X100 (floppy screen, 35mm, autofocus, presets, size and weight. The Q2 let’s in more light and has more blur in background. But it comes at a cost. Thanks again!
I´ve read or heard somewhere, that the look of the Q2 is almost like a wider look, kinda 26mm or so. Is that true? I´ve been thinking of buying the Q2 to replace my current X-Pro3 and the xf18mmf2, that is the most perfect combination I´ve ever used. But I would really love to have the full frame sensor with a 28mm that is for real f1,7 (not f2.8-3 as the xf18mm). But I´m beaing kinda woried if the look of Leica 28mm is wider because of all the corrections made in camera. Do have any side by side comparisons to show how exactly the FOV differs between theese four cameras and lenses?
What do you think about the colors from the X-trans sensor? I love Fujifilm's manual controls but I have issues editing their files. Orange to red hues seem to get blown out and lose detail among other issues that annoy me
I love to use the 28mm focal length for landscapes. I have 28mm lenses for my Nikon SLRs and my Contax rangefinders. I do not have a 28mm lens for my Leica M6 and M10 rangefinders but I have consided buying one. Right now, I would buy a Leica 28mm f/2.8 or a Voigtländer 28mm f/2.8 before I would buy a Leica Q, Q2, or Q3.
Why do the pictures ( in terms of focal length ) look different between the q2 and m10 with the 28 cron when they are both the same focal length ? Does it have something to do with you cropping or something like that or is the q2 wider than 28 ?
Photographing your Kids with the Q2, how did you managed focus (spot, field)? Struggling with wide open aperture and same young boy at the moment:)cheers from switzerland
Perfect Benj! Very good review. I was gonna save money to get a Q2, but will get the X100V and be able to shoot great photos for alllll that time instead 👌👍🔝📸
Thank you for this, I love your down-to-earth, practical reviews. Unfortunately, videos like this never seem to put me off wanting the Q2 ... I need to have a chat with my wife..!
It is for sure sharper with a monochrome and and lens on a monochrome will be sharper in general unless it is a wacky lens nevertheless the lens on the Q2 is one of the best 28 leica Make
You really should compare these cameras with a Sony A7iii or iv, preferably the Mkiii for a more competitive product, along with a 24mm Sigma art lens. The size is similar to your selection above but with a full frame sensor, image stabilisation etc. The 28mm Leica lens has a near identical field of view to most 24mm lenses. The drawback with the A7iii is a rather poor EVF resolution which might steer some people towards a A7iv to better match the Q2’s EVF. I have a Q2 and A7iii. Both very satisfying and excellent cameras. The new firmware for the Q2, released a few days ago [version4.0 for standard and V2.0 for Monochrom] has added significant new features that improve performance.
Interesting how Q@ manuals focus is very similar to the manual focus feature on Olympus Pro series lenses which as been out there for about ten years now ...
Hi Benj, thx for this. I was wondering if you have ever compared the Q2 and the V in terms of corner performance ? I do mostly landscape so having edger-edge performance matters to me and all tests I have checked out point to the Wcl with the V does much better than the Q2. Any thoughts on this ? cheers, Z.
Lots of great information in this one.. I was looking for either a 28mm or a 50mm for my MP. I haven't made a move is because i have the 28mm on the Q's
i love my xe-4. the best camera for street photography i ever owned. with 35mmF1.4 the image looks amazing. i'd love to try out a leica in the future :)
i actually have all 3 , m10 50 lux, xe4 35/2, and 100v. I use my Fuji as an AF camera highly considering selling both to fund a Q2. The biggest factor in this consideration for me is colors. Let’s say I take the 100v and M10 on a trip, I’m having a hard time matching two systems to look consistent. I know you use multiple cameras/systems on your shoots. Can you do a video of your Fuji recipes or how you make it look consistent when you deliver them? I am just had my first 5month old baby and I’m trying to make my photo album look consistent. I love the color from the M10 so much that I do very minimal color manipulation. But in the end I might have to sell my fujis and cash out for a Q2 just to match the results.
I think that the child does not care what you take pictures of him and he will absolutely not be interested in photos from when he was little and looked like 99% of other children
Jumping from the OVF of the 100V to the M10, how much larger does the M10 OVF feel? I know the specs but have never handled the camera, so just curious.
The fujifilm 18mm f2 was my first AF Fuji lens. Prior to that, I used a Lumix GX80 with 14mm f2.5, which was very fun and snappy. However since jumping ship to Fuji, I've swapped the 18mm f2 for the 23mm f2. As much as I love the 28mm focal length, something felt a lot more satisfying with the 23mm.
Im a long time Q/Q2 user, ive tried a few other 28mm lenses do you feel the Q is wider than 28? I feel like it really pushes the background away from the subject more than other 28mm focal lengths ive tried. Really wanting to grab a M10R body with 50mm 1.4 Summilux and Voigtlander 28mm/35mm. Can't decide if I should hang on to the Q2 as well. :)
"Ridiculous comparison" maybe Benj but v enjoyable. Why not make it crazier still & throw in the Panasonic GX9 with Pana Leica 15mm f1.7, & maybe the original Leica Q I'd LOVE to see that.
So glad to finally see this video. I have been running a WCL on my X100v for 3+ months now. It stays mounted about 80-90% of the time. I love it, and thank you for this informative comparison! QQ: Where did you get the all-black PD anchor links?
Same with my X100F, my only gripe with the WCL is how far it protrudes. If I’m using my Peak Design 5L it’s no issue. I recently bought their Field Pouch to downsize what I carry everyday and it is tricky to fit the X100F with the WCL mounted.
@@moncho33 I hear that. Finding the right small bag can be a challenge with the WCL. I'm running a Hex Ranger Mini, and I've managed to set it up to work with both the fixed and the WCL , plus my PD leash, PD wrist strap, a spare lens filter, 2 spare batteries, some cleaning wipes + micro fiber cloth, several memory cards, and a USB-C charging cable. Tight fit, but it works for me.
@@davidhunter9434 Will give it a second look. Saw it on Amazon the other day but didn’t like the style. Thought about the PD 3L sling but I already have the 5L and 6L and wanted something really compact.
You definitely need to look at the Ricoh because the title of your video is the best EDC camera and when it comes to EDC there is nothing on earth like the GR series of cameras. Their tiny size and weight means that they can be carried all day every day without any inconvenience at all. They are unique for EDC and of course the IQ is phenomenal.
Have you shot the X Pro2 or 3? I considered a used XE4 but for the price, the X pro 2 is not too far off in price and has an optical + electronic viewfinder.
Xe4 is a superior camera in terms of specs but the pro2 is a better camera in terms of build. I’d personally take the XE4 but that’s my personal preference
Why did you not put the newer 18mm f1.4 on the X-E4? It is a marginal price bump. However, the technical quality is probably better than most of the lenses on the lineup. And it will still be cheaper and lighter than any of the other setups.
Nice video as always! Having owned all these four, it definitely resonates. Can we see your film scanning set up with XE4? What lens do you use for that purpose?
Gr3 buttons and dial have failed on me but takes great pics for its form and value. X100v complicated menus to set up but takes fab pics. Q2 addictive but pics not as spectacular as x100v or Gr3 IMHO. Going M10 50mm and x100v moving forward and keeping gr3 for casual travel where I don't have to worry about it so much. :)
Yeah the balance would be totally off though, so you’d have to go X-Pro3 at least and even then it’d be a more awkward carry so harder to justify as an EDC IMO
Not sure if you saw, but the new 35mm APO summicron lens they kind of hacked the prism focusing system so that it can go down to 0.3 meters. It clicks into a different mode when you want to focus super close. I would guess they'll start coming out with more lenses like it in the future!
@@benjhaisch Oh, looked a bit more into it and I think you may actually be right. Which is a bit of a bummer, but I guess at least lets you get around the 0.7 issue in one way with an M cam
Totally. I have the 35/2 Ultron from Voigtlander right now and it focuses to 0.58 and I’m pretty sure the M10 will go to 0.6 so it’s been working but that’s the closest
I own the XE2 and XE4. If the XE4 only had the same size as the XE2. I feel like the XE4 has shrinked in size a bit too much at least for my hands. The canted and less than perfect flat sheet metal top of the X Pro 2/3 turns me really off. Otherwise that would be a great camera to wrap my hands around it. However, the statement that the XE4 had the worst experience of all introduced cameras in the video sounds a bit harsh imo. Anyway, great video though. THX
I got the Q2 color a few months ago and it is a pure joy. My main stills camera (and a significant video tool) is an old Canon 5Diii…the Leica is a different aesthetic. If the Fuji cams had larger frames, I’d sure look at them due to cost.
Can you please make a video and talk about the issue of the new samyang 12mm af f2 lens. Concerning the problem with the ibis when used in combination with the x-s10. Because for some reason, the ibis stops working. Fujifilm and samyang are not doing anything to fix this, but maybe if we get enough people talking about it, they will address the problem. Thank you.
@@benjhaisch i understand. Maybe if you can, just mention that the problem exists. I’m not the only one experiencing it. They’re others too having the same problem.

I would totally agree with this statement. I had a lot of Fuji gear and now, all I have is the X-E4 and the 18mm f2. It’s just everything I need.
yes yes yes!
I love my Q2 Monochrom.
I’ve got it on boost 🙌🏼
Do you mean "smoothness" vs "brightness" in the EVF performance menu?
Have you tried the Q2? The Monochrom version produces stunning images with great tonal range.
The downside to the Q2’s is their price.
@@johnkasianowicz6536 The price is the reason I haven’t. It’s a shame - I’d love to upgrade but alas, it’s impossible.
I thought I’d have a reason to sell it but it’s just a great camera
I have a M 28 summi coming to compare. But yea the Q2 lens is amazing plus it has OIS which helps to make up for the not great ISO
Would love to see the Ricoh GRIII with this current lineup.
That’s a different camera altogether thoughhhhhhh
They're all different, hence the comparison video.
@@Oofling yeah, I guess to me it just seems vastly different. But I suppose you’re right!
@@FrankDavalos Why vastly different?
Sure, I’ve never used one, but if Ricoh wants to get in touch, I’m game.
Where ?
Loved the video. Let me just add this, if Fuji EVER makes a x-100 monochrome, I AM IN!!!
Been on a journey from X100F, to XE-3, to X100V and finally to Q2, all I can say is the Q2 definitely worth the price if you can swallow its perks, but I am not going to lie, I kind of missing the ability to play with film simulations like I used to do with my fuji cameras. I guess we can’t have it all 😁
Right???
lol I feel your pain, went X100F, Q1, X100V, Q2, Q1, X100V, back to the Q2. The Fuji is so fun right when I get it but the Q2 is on a whole other level for image quality and build.
@@MattLeeMorgan hahaha keep coming back to leica I guess
Have a look at Cobalt Profiles. If you get the Q2 base profile and then add the "Fuji Digital" pack you can get pretty close to the Fuji film simulations with your Q2.
Just get RNI films (there’s also a tablet version), and you’ll have all the film simulations that you want.
Great vid as always 👍🏻
Regarding the EVF on the X100 and Q2, they are the same resolution but the Q2 has a way higher/faster refresh rate which is greatly contributing to the better image in the EVF.
I’d love this, but I guess it’d just be too close to the x100v and the x-pro.
That's my gripe with the XE4. Should have had some weather resistance for an £800 camera body.
Thanks for a great channel.
thanks, Simon!
You have the Slr wannabes like XT. Get an X pro 2 and you’ll find you don’t need a Leica for any reason other than flaunt value.
Have the Leica Q2 Mono. No doubt my favorite camera, crazy high ISO and forces one to think about framing. The mono sensor is remarkable.
I love my Leica MP240. It's the camera I reach for every day. I really enjoy the process of making photos with my M.
If the 28 Summilux wasn’t so expensive, I’d totally own it
@@benjhaisch it is a beautiful lens man - true it is expensive but it will be your 28 for life so in a course of 15 years it is not that expensive after all and works flawlessly on M10 variants color/monochrome and Sl2 - sharper than the Fle and actually better than the Q2 lens hands-down optically speaking
I've been considering all of these options. About to start this video. I'm excited
I love my Nikon z6 with the new z 28 2.8 lens! It’s pretty small together, full frame and can be picked up pretty cheap!
Yes!! Or the Sony A7 iii and the 28mm f2.
Those images from the Fuji 18mm F2 have a pop to them. I think that lens is the sleeper of the group.
I have the X100F with the WCL, I added a JJC lens hood to avoid it from dropping forward when placed on a table.
What do you think about the colors from the X-trans sensor? I love Fujifilm's manual controls but I have issues editing their files. Orange to red hues seem to get blown out and lose detail among other issues that annoy me
How are you converting/importing? Lightroom still does a shit job, use x trans converter as a pipeline or capture one
The review we've all been waiting for!
The Q2 is wider, yes.
Hi
May I know which shutter release button is the one you have on your Leica?
Love your videos 🙏🏻
Photographing your Kids with the Q2, how did you managed focus (spot, field)? Struggling with wide open aperture and same young boy at the moment:)cheers from switzerland
Perfect Benj! Very good review.
I was gonna save money to get a Q2, but will get the X100V and be able to shoot great photos for alllll that time instead 👌👍🔝📸
Thank you for this, I love your down-to-earth, practical reviews. Unfortunately, videos like this never seem to put me off wanting the Q2 ... I need to have a chat with my wife..!
forgot about weather sealing, that can be a huge factor for many
Uing the XE4 with a MF lenses attached on it is a fantastic experience. 👌 I really wish Fuji didn't remove the mode dial from the camera.
very nice video,
the sharpness of the Q is the result of monochrome. I feel that my m10 monochrome is a bit sharper as my M10R with the same lens.
It is for sure sharper with a monochrome and and lens on a monochrome will be sharper in general unless it is a wacky lens nevertheless the lens on the Q2 is one of the best 28 leica Make
Try the new Fujifilm 18mm F1.4. It’s absolutely incredible
Hey! Did you feel the need to add the extra grip on the X-E4? How is it compared to the native grip of the X100V?
Cheers
It’s not the resolution of the viewfinders, it’s the OLED tech on the Q2 that is the difference man. Thing is crazy.
Ah interesting! You’re probably right!
My expensive journey Q2 two years ago, Canon R5, Sony a1, just now coming back to Q2 for size.
Found my Q2 for 3600 btw so it didn't feel as bad. ha
Directly from their site!
@@benjhaisch I'll check it out. Thank you. Have a great day!
X100v is a beast, no regret for me
How dare you make a fair comparison and not validate my pre-existing bias.
😂
I’m actually surprised that I didn’t get more hate from the fanboy/girl/etc out there haha
Why did you not put the newer 18mm f1.4 on the X-E4? It is a marginal price bump. However, the technical quality is probably better than most of the lenses on the lineup. And it will still be cheaper and lighter than any of the other setups.
because I own the 18/2 and didn't have access to the 18/1.4 ;)
The Leica CL with 18mm lens is another option, albeit a bit older.

I am surprised the Q2 is smaller than the M10. Quite a lot smaller than I expected.
Great work. Have V & thinking of Q2. Very helpful comparison.
this video was shot in Flexico City
Great comparison. I was just thinking if you use the new Fujifilm 18mm F1.4 on the xe4 that might bring it closer to the rest of the competition?
Yeah the balance would be totally off though, so you’d have to go X-Pro3 at least and even then it’d be a more awkward carry so harder to justify as an EDC IMO
@@benjhaisch It's actually fine with the grip imo. Lovely combo.
The X Pro3 caméra body is the closest feel as my Leica M11 with AF, IBIS and a built in EVF.
Not sure if you saw, but the new 35mm APO summicron lens they kind of hacked the prism focusing system so that it can go down to 0.3 meters. It clicks into a different mode when you want to focus super close. I would guess they'll start coming out with more lenses like it in the future!
Can you focus with it in the rangefinder though? Pretty sure the M10 stops at 0.6 or 0.7?
@@benjhaisch Oh, looked a bit more into it and I think you may actually be right. Which is a bit of a bummer, but I guess at least lets you get around the 0.7 issue in one way with an M cam
Totally. I have the 35/2 Ultron from Voigtlander right now and it focuses to 0.58 and I’m pretty sure the M10 will go to 0.6 so it’s been working but that’s the closest
Great comparison! Thanks for posting.
Great video man. My xe4 slightly gets warmer at the bottom while clicking picture's . Is it normal for it to warm or is there some issue with it?
Yeah all of these little cameras have a propensity to heat up at times. Hasn't been an issue for me long term.
What lens do you use on the Xe4 for film scanning?
You know me. It all about the 28f2 Ultron II. That’s my forever lens.
so good
Got an M10 + 5 Summilux lenses and an MP (film) leica.. a bunch of other gear.. and I'm buying a X100V for the portability..
Thank you.
I don’t have a Samyang 12/2 or an X-S10, sorry!
@@benjhaisch i understand. Maybe if you can, just mention that the problem exists. I’m not the only one experiencing it. They’re others too having the same problem.
When is the X100VI coming out?
Does X100V comes with an interchangeable lens feature?
I saw it at the House of Photography, but couldn't find the feature.
it has conversion lenses that you can add onto it
Leica M11 is my dream camera. I hope one day I can buy it.
should be testing with the xf 18 F1.4
would love to. have Fujifilm get in touch with me ;)
That seems like jt would be a true budget Leica Q2. Would love to see that comparison
The Leica Q can back button focus. Did they remove this on the Q2? That seems strange....
It will focus once but it locks and resets after each photo and won’t work in AFc
Mainly a nikon shooter but cannot sell my x pro 2 with the 35mm 1.4 curious about the 18mm I had only ever heard bad reviews, is there a new improved model
They made a larger 18/1.4
Leica uses the best glass for EVF path as well when others use other materials
Amazing comparison 👏
