    ABOUT…
I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?
Also thank you for all your support. It means a lot.
Subscribe to Rebecca Vocal Athlete to get inspired by new videos weekly!!
    Have a great day!!

      @dneuens 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Plenty of singers know how to use their lungs and still wind up with vocal degradation. The ones who don't take care of their voices often lose them quicker, and it's not just a matter of knowing how to use ones lungs. Everybody has a different makeup and Dio was just blessed to have golden vocal chords that could totally withstand not only the abuse but also the neglect. He probably did have impeccable technique, but it was purely accidental. Just a natural gift.

If so, I’d probably rather have that than the full lyric. He gave you something he was relying on you to figure out, kinda like a riddle or puzzle, and you did! You probably felt so good after that.
What’s better? The great Dio giving you a little puzzle to decipher or him writing a quote? I’d take the former!

On the contrary, size or the lack of it in his case and many other such as Dickinson can have a positive effect on vocal power or "resonance". I don't remember what exactly the reasoning was(has something to do with airflow) but with Dio and Dickinson kind of being one of the most powerful singers if not the most(in rock) it makes sense. Of course there's many contradictions with numerous singers being tall yet extremely powerful, from metal to other genres.

    Rebecca.
You need to hear Ronnie do this with Black Sabbath.
    It's a little bit different.
I love DIO but he did this with Black Sabbath first.
There is a live version with Black Sabbath.
Worth checking out and reacting to.
And he was a small-statured person but a huge voice for one so small.
    And he loved his fans.
He always put on a great show and connected with his audience.
I got to meet him once.
Saw him in concert several times.
But met him in person once.
    Fascinating man.
Had a nice chat with him.
And you missed the last half of the song.
It changes tempo and picks up speed.
And ends on an up note.
    Sort of.
Very dramatic end which you missed completely.
    You missed all of that.
Like you literally missed half the song...the best half.
Some of the best lyrics in the song come at the end of the song.
How could you miss all of that?
    "They say that life's
    A carousel
    Spinning fast you
    Better ride it well
    The world is full
    Of kings and queens
    Who blind your eyes
    And steal your dreams
    It's Heaven and Hell.
    And they tell you
    Black is really white
    The moon is just
    The sun at night
    And when you walk
    In golden halls
    You get to keep
    The gold that falls
    It's Heaven and Hell.
    Fool fool
    You got to bleed
    For the dancer
    Fool fool
    Look for the answer."
You literally missed ALL OF THAT.
Not mad, just that you missed some of Ronnie's best vocals in that song.
    Now.
    Having said all that?
Want to have your mind really blown by what an amazing singer Ronnie was?
Find Rainbow's Long Live Rock and Roll album.
    It's here on TH-cam.
Actually, every song on that album kicks serious ass but there is one I really think you need to hear.
It's a soft, quiet, gentle, sad ballad with Ronnie singing, Ritchie Blackmore playing this gorgeous, beautiful guitar, and this wood flute or recorder just weaving in and out that gives the song this haunting, ethereal beauty.
The song is called "Rainbow Eyes" and you might want tissues, it is so heartbreakingly sad and beautiful.
    I love it.
Unlike anything he had done before or since.
And Ronnie absolutely sang his heart out.
    180° opposite of this.
And for a man who claimed he never wrote a love song?
If "Rainbow Eyes" is NOT a love song?
    I don't know what is.
    Amazing.
    Check it out.
    Thank me later.☺

Becks...Thant’s goddam Dio. You are beautiful and dapper and dandy, but that man is the very lion that roared metal into life. His grain, temper, and register are always on display..the man was a walking theater. Always gracious to his enormous fan base, his legendary appeal is completely earned. So few men or ladies of majesty have graced the stage and your comparison to Freddy Mercury was spot on.

Hello Rebecca: Ronnie James Dio was one of the greatest Rock singers of our time. RIP, Ronnie! With massive influence on many others, today. One "funny?" thing about him: I've, in decades, never found anyone to speak bad about the personality he was. Ever.
(Shines a light, doesen't it?) One thing I'd like you to react on would be "Stargazer", when he was singing with Rainbow.
Another thing, and this is for you: Roger Glover, the bassist of Deep Purple, made a musical for children in the early 7ties: "The butterfly ball and grasshoppers feast". And RJD sings there as the frog: "Love is all". I think this will be, in contrast to above song, really warm your heart:
    th-cam.com/video/NXnkJkw_sFE/w-d-xo.html
You must be pretty new into rock, for not knowing him. But that's O.K. Maybe I can hit you with more surprises. It would be my pleasure.
Greetings from the far north of Germany!

The song is one that he wrote while in Black Sabbath, however this performance was a few years later with his solo band, simply named “Dio”.
I absolutely agree that you should react to Rainbow - “Stargazer”. Terrific 70s proto-power metal.
Dio is one of the most loved personalities in the world of metal.

I don't think Painkiller is a good representation of Halford's capabilities, and frankly it's far from the upper echalon of their catalog.
      Better choices would be:

      Dreamer Deceiver
      Freeweel Burning
      The Sentinel
