His Voice is just astounding, all the nuances and tones, and plenty of coaches here on TH-cam have listened to Ronnie's Singing and just been blown away, especially when they realize Ronnie was in His forties in the 80's. Yeah. At about the time male singers' voices start losing power/strength and tone, and there was Ronnie, affectionately dubbed "Old Leather Lungs' by some, hammering out song after song. Part of why Ronnie's Voice was so powerful, has been determined that the formative years spent playing the trumpet, gave His lungs more strength than the average performer out there. Plus Ronnie was big on exercising, another reason why He could bounce all over the stage and not lose breath.
Few singers bring the power they have in the studio, to the stage. Dio, Bruce Dickinson, the late Freddie Mercury. Some of the greats that could. Dio was metal's best, pure singer though. Bsr none

Jamel Catch the Rainbow live in Munich. Dio's vocals and Blackmore's guitar(especially his intro) are on another level. You my friend are the best at what you do because you genuinely feel the music.
Jamel, back in the day, how we judged bands was how good they were live. Great bands were BETTER live. Dio was one of those artists. Studio tracks are great, especially if you're not that good. Live separates the men from the boys, and Dio was a juggernaut live. I saw him on this tour. Mind blowing.
Excellent content on this one. Thank-you. P.S. when Dio played in Toronto he grabbed a fans banner and displayed it for the crowd, the man was a master of the stage.
That was fan art thrown up on stage. A true gentleman of our genre and the man who gave us our salute. The metal horns \m/. What you call an amazing vocal performance, we call "Well, that's just Ronnie."
Ronnie is on his own level. He is so far ahead of any other singer in the Rock genre and it’s not even close and that includes Freddy Mercury. To understand that you have to listen to everything he’s done throughout his career. If you think of Ronnie Dio as just a heavy metal singer than you really don’t know who Ronnie Dio was. His career prior to Black Sabbath, which I consider his entry into the heavy metal genre as most of Rainbow was classic rock, was 22 years long and touched on damn near every genre of music you can imagine from Lounge music crooning to Doo Wop, to blues m, folk, honky tonk, pop to rock to prog rock. He could sing any genre and he sung better than most in all of those genres. Ironically, it was his ability to sing great regardless of genre that made him so unique. He was technically brilliant despite the fact he had no vocal training and he was extremely charismatic both on and off the stage and those two facts alone put him near the top of most people’s top vocalists list. The one thing he does better than anyone else is sing live. The single most difficult part of being a vocalist and should be the singe most important. NO autotune and believe it or not he NEVER warmed up either. It was all god given talent and incredible technique. God broke the mold after he created this guy.
I was lucky to see him live with Dokken in Hawaii way back in the 80s, it was my first arena concert, the light show for DIO floored me, laser lights spelling out his name, pyrotechnics! I was a kid back then, I left the concert with my face melted lol. Dio is the real deal God of Rock!
Dio "The Last in Line" is downright epic. If you get around to it, please do the studio version and NOT the lame 80s video that cut out parts of the song. The live version is cool but really should get the full impact from studio first.
@@lancekoller5284 At the end of the song when you hear the giant metal foot steps. The sound is them simply rattling a tray of silverware. LOL Go give a listen.
Dio's wife , managed a So. Cal . band named Rough Cutt , back in 1983. Dio and Rough Cutt made an appearance at the enlisted club at RTC/NTC San Diego. They did Man On The Silver Mountain , Heaven And Hell , and Holy Diver together. Small club , and this huge voice. It .was.awesome.
I know you like the live versions for the energy and what not but this was not the greatest live performance. Yes, his voice is on point but this is his solo band. He was with Black Sabbath when this song was made and it's missing that Sabbath magic. Also, they didn't even do the pickup at the end, which is the best part of this song IMO. Check out the studio version sometime and you'll see what I mean. I always recommend the original version of a song for a first listen, so you can get a feel for it and then move on to live versions.

RJD was one of the best vocalists ever. I loved him when I saw him live, but today I realize what an amazing voice he truly had. As in top 5 rock voices. RIP Ronnie, and thanks JAJ for this video.
now for Dio’s “Holy Diver”, “Rainbow in the Dark”, and “We Rock”
Jamel Catch the Rainbow live in Munich. Dio's vocals and Blackmore's guitar(especially his intro) are on another level. You my friend are the best at what you do because you genuinely feel the music.
I saw him live on the killing the dragon tour in the early 2000's. Dude's voice didnt get worse with age one bit. Couldn't believe it.
Saw Dio in 78 with Rainbow then again during Black Sabbath’s Mob Rules tour in early 80’s.Awesome voice, Awesome showman. Awesome memories!
RJD took over after Ozzy was fired from the band in 1979..it was all the ta'talk'
in high school..lol
Amazing Dio, voice of a legend, so powerful. Great reaction :)
I was 16 in 86 and had the biggest mullet ever 😁🤘🏻🤘🏻
Ronnie James Dio and Iron Maiden were two of the most incredible live performances I have ever seen... and I've seen many. Thanks Jamel! You ROCK!!!!
When asked what measures he took to warm up his voice before a show, Dio said "if you have to warm up, you ain't got it".
The guy was only like 5'3" or 5'4" but a voice of a giant.
Excellent content on this one. Thank-you.
P.S. when Dio played in Toronto he grabbed a fans banner and displayed it for the crowd, the man was a master of the stage.
That voice out of a 5'4" tall man. You would never expect it.
That was fan art thrown up on stage. A true gentleman of our genre and the man who gave us our salute. The metal horns \m/. What you call an amazing vocal performance, we call "Well, that's just Ronnie."
RIP Ronnie James Dio up there with Freddie Mercury
Bruce dickinson is up there too.
You heard Dio don't forget when you did the Rainbow - Stargazor reaction
An AMAZING rock voice!!!!!!!!!!!! RIP great vocalist.................
Dio "The Last in Line" is downright epic. If you get around to it, please do the studio version and NOT the lame 80s video that cut out parts of the song. The live version is cool but really should get the full impact from studio first.
I saw him in a small club! Amazing! I still have this cassette. RIP Dio
One of the Holy Trinity of metal singers: Halford, Dickinson, and Ronnie James Dio
Jimmy Mac
Yes! The studio version.
I find the other 2 to be an acquired taste. Dio is perfect.
Got that right 👍
There was only one Ronnie James Dio, and no one else comes close. Miss ya much. Always
You need to react to some Judas Priest. Maybe the song Victim Of Changes, or Metal Gods.
Screaming for vengeance is pretty darn good also.
Breakin' the law, breakin' the law. Always makes me think of Beavis and Butthead.
Metal Gods is fantastic.
@@lancekoller5284 At the end of the song when you hear the giant metal foot steps. The sound is them simply rattling a tray of silverware. LOL Go give a listen.
Only Rob can do Victim of Changes. That song is the shit!
One of the most amazing live concert experiences I ever had was listening to RJD sing this with fuckin heart... Ronnie felt that shit when he sang it.
That is a picture of the legend himself Ronnie James Dio.
hearing his voice is a religious experience!! 🤘🏻🔥🖤🦇 My new favorite thing is watching people experience Dio! 🔥🤘🏻
Is this 'Dio' just doing a 'Sabbath' tune?
Isn't that the 'Dio' band?
Yes
Yes he wrote the song Heaven and Hell while he was in Sabbath.
Yes, it's Dio's band. It's from their Sarced Heart Tour.
@@tigerback62 Thank you!
yes but to be fair it was his song that he wrote while in sabbath. one of the ones he was proudest of writing as per an interview with him.
The "GREATEST" metal vocalist period! That's how you put on a performance!
Ronnie James Dio is, in my considered opinion, the best metal front-man ever
I have to agree with that!
Exactly!
By far bro🤘
This song was broken up by whoever put it up on TH-cam. The other half is on the following video in the series of videos that makes up this entire concert.
I fell in love with Dio the first time I heard him and I was so fortunate to see him perform with Black Sabbath, during his short time with them, and before he passed. We lost a great vocalist when he left us.
This is not Black Sabbath!!!!! It's Dio's solo group trying to recreate Black Sabbath.
You little puppy this is Black Sabbath your ignorance shows your age
They did not try and recreate sabbath they went a new direction and that’s coming from a big Ozzy fan
He was with several bands.
Elf
Rainbow
Dio
Black Sabbath
Had one of the greatest voices ever.
And even long before that.
Ronnie dio and the prophets among other 60's pop/rock bands.
It was him . His voice was powerful.,for a very small guy. But, he appreciates, all his fans and what he had and always have back. There will never be another like him again.
Rip . Always me missed and lovef
I saw that concert when I was 18. Best metal male singer in the world he was.!!
