I picked it up as a foreclosure so I got a good deal on it. The old owner lost or burned all the logs so I ended up spending more to get it re-certified than I paid for it.
I think a better thing to do, if possible, buy a share of a plane in a syndicate and chances are it's part of a club - meaning you have constant access and also maintenance is covered, landing costs are covered, all that is done for you, and if not, you get the fun of doing that.

Here: the twin aircraft initially displayed is a Baron 55. You can buy a decent one in the 150-200k range. It will cost you around 350/hr to operate it. You are looking at around 40-45k a year to operate one with all your expenses covered. Plenty of you reading this can afford this and even more of you cannot. Remember, in America “expensive is a relative term” as there will always be somebody that can affoard toys an order of magnitude more expensive than you and me. Having said that, if you are one of the lucky ones that can, Good for you!
I work at an airport and there’s like an 84 G-3 that comes in there every once and a while and god damn is it louder than an F-18 and one of the engines produces quite a bit of smoke at full throttle
My sisters father in law built his own plane in his basement. He was a high school shop teacher. It was a great little plane and flew like a bird no problem. All in under $15K.
