I would try putting the crystal on an angle or slant, and then angle your camera on a tripod to match to keep the flat lay look This may help You can also try bouncing the light off of other objects in the room to disperse it
Great video and some excellent tips there Ben! Another option for mounting a camera overhead - I use an old boom arm style microphone floor stand, and bought a SmallRig camera clamp mount. I removed the microphone mount from the end of the boom arm and then clamped the SmallRig camera mount in its place. Now I can move the stand anywhere I want (as well as raise and lower its height by 3 feet or so), adjust the boom arm angle and have it pointing straight down at the subject area. Cheap and simple, and it works!
Hey Ben, how exactly did you setup the camera with the rode microphone stand? I bought the Ulanzi ballhead but can’t seem to figure out how to attach it to the stand. Also what goes in between the ulanzi and the camera, could you also link that?
You may need to get a 3/8 to 1/4 inch screw Adaptor to mount it to the Ulanzi. I’m using a manfrotto ballhead here which has a 3/8 inch screw on it instead of the regular 1/4 inch

I love this as an on camera monitor for filming myself: amzn.to/2PbxBKM The exact external one I use is out of stock but it’s a 4K 7inch around $150-200 any of those should work great
The mic is a 5/8 thread You’ll need an Adaptor from 5/8 to 1/4 inch which would be a standard for camera tripods and phone mounts In my case I used a manfrotto ballhead which has a 5/8 thread on the bottom, and a quarter inch thread on the top

I’d recommend using manual focus when you can, a lot of the issues probably come down to the camera / lens you are using. I’d also try checking out what autofocus area option you have!

Any tips on how to prevent light reflection on the sapphire crystal when doing wrist watch reviews?
I would try putting the crystal on an angle or slant, and then angle your camera on a tripod to match to keep the flat lay look

2:24 you like this table because it’s super flat 🤣🤷🏻♂️ logically all table is flat, else you can used it in correct way 🤣
Some tables are more textured, subtle bumps and such, makes it harder to achieve the look, a flat smooth surface is better

My advice would be the same! Get your lighting right to avoid shadows , if you're doing any digital calligraphy be cautious of glare from the lights

I've tried shooting unboxing videos before but I keep getting focusing issues when i take things out of the box and try to show them to the camera
I’d recommend using manual focus when you can, a lot of the issues probably come down to the camera / lens you are using. I’d also try checking out what autofocus area option you have!

On the overhead camera I am using a 20mm 2.8 and have a 16mm wide angle converter on it

Any autofocus can cause issues, I’d recommend using Sony tho, they have better autofocus than most
