Thanks for the informative video! Was confused with the oil and clutch combination. Didn't realize they shared the same oil. Was looking for A/T fluid 😆
@@ThisIsStartingToAnnoyMe seems like a lot my truck takes 5.5qts. This is my first bike so wasn't sure if that was normal. Maybe with such a large capacity that's why they recommend oil filter every other service? If I'm changing oil the filters going too though.
I got my windshield off Amazon. It was labeled "Puig 0336W Clear Custom II Windshield for 8" Headlight". It cost $111. I had to trim off a couple of inches from the struts as they wanted to rub on the gas tank. I drove with it to Arkansas (from Kansas) without any problems.
You should've pushed the filter all the way in when you installed it by hand rather then just setting it in there like you did. in doing it how you did you could've pinched or crushed the rubber seal and never even known you did it. Better to be safe then sorry.
Do you know if the XL-22A filter will work as well? The local honda shop I went to said that was what I needed but in your video, you used the XL-10A. Curious your thoughts?
None that I know of. On The Rebel 11 (youtube) mentioned that he plans to do one. I got my information from here: www.hondarebel3forum.com/search/97811/?q=rebel+1100+oil+leak&o=relevance
I got the oil from mr Honda dealer. I just asked for oil for my 1100. She gave me 10w40 but it should have been 10w30. I think it was about $30. I also got 2 oil filters and it all came to about $60.
I recently bought a rebel 1100 dct and on cold shifts it squeaks between shifts. But when it’s warm it’s fine have you experienced anything like that thank you I currently have 600 miles on it and oil level is fine. I didn’t know if it was common or a issue before I contact Honda
sorry if this was already asked, does it really matter if you use GN4 oil or HP4S oil? i found the GN4 oil 4 Qt for $30 bucks (Amazon) and i purchased 5Qt HP4S oil $60 (at the dealer) over all i ended up paying $90 for the filters and O-ring, just trying to figure out if it was worth it to spend the extra $30 bucks for the HP4S oil a the dealer or go for the cheaper GN4 oil in Amazon..
I copied this off an ad o Amazon. New Pro Honda HP4S is Honda's first fully synthetic 4-stroke motorcycle oil and was quite literally years in the making. HP4S is compatible with synthetic blends such as HP4, as well as regular petroleum oils like GN4. There is no need to flush the crankcases before switching to HP4S. Offers lower friction than conventional oils and better oxidation resistance for better high heat performance. Also gives higher film strength and quicker flow to vital engine parts at low temperatures, especially during start up. Provides maximum power due to less frictional drag. HP4S is recommended for use in all 2006 or newer motorcycles, ATVs, scooters and PWC. It is quite simply put - Pro Honda's very finest four-stroke oil.
The Honda manual says to replace the oil at 8,000 miles. It does not include the oil and clutch filter at that time but does add it at 16,000 miles. If you don't put many miles on your bike, I would replace the oil every year.
I prefer to do both. I don't know the actual requirement, it's not in the owners manual, but the manual shows to use 4.2 quarts as the oil capacity and that is what it uses when draining both and changing the oil filter.
You are correct. I added that to the description above. I used the 10w40 because that's what the Honda dealer handed me when I asked for Rebel 1100 oil. I have used 10w30 since then. I also have learned that car oil and motorcycle oil differs in that motorcycles use their oil for wet clutches and therefore use friction modifiers.
@@ThisIsStartingToAnnoyMe Did you notice any change in the DCT behaviour using 10W40? I know for example that people that put 10W50 in their DCT had shifting problems....
most everything now runs a dry or a semi dry sump system. its actually smart and modern. less internals rotating in an oil bath robbing hp and efficiency
Thank you for the detailed instructions! I will reference your video several times tomorrow as I'm doing my 600 mile oil change!
Thanks for the informative video! Was confused with the oil and clutch combination. Didn't realize they shared the same oil. Was looking for A/T fluid 😆
I was too. But I was more surprised that it takes 4.4 quarts!

Japanese bikes have been single sump( one fluid) for decades!
Your videos are really really useful and practical; thanks!
Thanks.
Hey, like your video! I noticed you used 10W-40. The manual calls for 10W-30.
I just used what they sold me at the Honda shop.
Yikes there goes the warranty
Same experience
My dealer forgot to change the tranny filter Had to take it back.
Thanks for sharing I will be picking up my bike up on Saturday.
Thank you for the video sir, very nice
I appreciate the vid!
Thanks for the video... where did you get your windshield?

Great video, thank you! About to do my first service. Do you not need to have it leveled on a rear wheel stand to drain the oil?
It's nice to get out every last drop of old oil, but that would be a small amount. You could also just hold the bike balanced for a couple of minutes.

Sorry, no idea. I just used what the Honda shop here said was proper. It was the same as the one I took off.
Order the stuff under africa twin same stuff
Can you list the tools you used? Thanks
Hey Ron im having a gromnet oil leak is there a video here on youtube or in your channel that shows how to fix it with the silicone sealant?

thank you for sharing the video. where did you get the Honda GN4 oil? Do you mind to share the price for 1gal ? thank you

I would guess it's okay but the only safe answer is to have a dealer listen to it.

When u recomendéd the next oil change after 600 service ,what miles

Do you need to change also transmission oil or is it just one engine oil for both ?
I prefer to do both. I don't know the actual requirement, it's not in the owners manual, but the manual shows to use 4.2 quarts as the oil capacity and that is what it uses when draining both and changing the oil filter.
Do you not fill your new filter before installing ?
The filter goes on horizontal.
Rebel 1100 owner here . you just lube the rubber gasket
Thank you.
how much does an oil change cost if you get the dealer or other shops to do it?
$60 + ___ = ______
I don't know but I would guestimate about $120-150. The procedure is easy but it does take 2 filters and 4.4 quarts of oil.
Just bought a new one and the first oil change will be $65 - and they will go over everything too so it’s worth it

I don't understand why there's need to be 2 drain bolts instead of 1 what a stupid design.
