Hi guys! Thanks for tuning in... This week it is time to start work on the brakes for the 1938 Imperial at the GCFCE! Then, more welding for Agent 0842s 1967 Datsun 411, and a game of "Beat the Book" with the Volvo S90... Dean is back with the oldest "Greasy Flips" yet: a classic postwar Dodge sedan! Hi scott Ive been watching your channel since before the 1960 fury build. I'm almost done restoring a very rare Canada only 1951 dodge Mayfair. On my car I fitted front disc brakes, two stage master cylinder and booster, out of an 02 dodge grand caravan. Once the backing plates were off I desinged and built caliper mounts that bolted back to the spindle The rotors literally fit right on to the 51 wheel hubs. the mastercylinder is under hood on a custom brake peddle assemble fabrication with the booster. on the rear brakes I reduced the wheel cylinder bore from 1.25" to 1.00" to work correctly with the caravan mastercylinder I have also icluded the combination / perprosioning valve. this basically gives me 1070's level stopping power. it all works quite well. Other than nicer seats out of a Chrysler LHS the car is bone stock. It has been painted in original two tone green colours. I thank you for your more detailed lessons while you were doing the 60 fury, as i had to mkes all my own rust panels. Don't worry about my brake mods I'm a certifed auto mechanic 40 years and welder 15 years. In my last job i designed and built Industrial custom machinery. I live in Calgary and hope to meet up with you some day
Hey Scott and all the AGENTS, you CATS seem to be enjoying yourselves; have to say what an AWESOME Chrysler agent Dan has scored, an absolute GEM not even in the rough!! Speaking of GEMS, please let Bunny know, she has NO reason whatsoever to hide from the camera, she brightens up video!! Keep on TRUCKIN' folks, ya'll are AWESOME!! HAPPY HOLIDAYS, PEACE and LOVE. Mike from Delaware
That 48 Dodge of Dean's is so cool, the blue one with the California Dealer's plate! That Steering Wheel and the center rear tail lamp...the emblems, in such great shape! A very cool car!
Whoo weee!! More Chrysler Imperial goodness! I'm sure we all can't WAIT to see this thing on the road! That Volvo is going to pass inspection with flying colors. What a great car!
I really can't afford the therapy I need to understand why I've watched this channel for so many years but since I began I stopped scratching my ears with my hind feet. It's been a blessing really. Cheers 🇨🇦
During my stint as a sgk inspector for car inspections I have seen more hidden damage like black silicone on break hoses to hide the crack fiberglassed struts that were rusted through and body filled floor panels to hide rusted floors that is just a few it is good to see a vehicle where everything is 100 percent.the inspector will appreciate what you have done.
Hey Menace Dog! You having fun in the snow? You love it more than chasing squirrels! The old Imperial brakes will come right back! Thank you Scott, Franker's and agent's for putting this show together, in and out of the cold all day. Have a fantastic weekend everyone and stay frosty!
Awesome on all the cars! Volvo is Damn SWEET! For the payment of the work Im doing on my buddies 61 Chrysler NewPort two door he gave us a 99 BMW M3 Convertible, in a rare yellow color....It needs water pump and all that as well.....Ive never worked on a German car so should be fun like your Volvo.....Cheers Guys! Keep up the great work!
Another extension of good wishes to Dean on his birthday! I offer appreciation for for his ongoing efforts with CWM and his uncanny ability to create demand for his ‘greasy flips.’ Also thought the extensive pre-inspection on the Volvo will assure its safe passage on Alberta’s thoroughfares. Splendid effort too on Dan’s Imperial that the episode revealed that both of the ‘sad bastards’ had encountered similar conditions that they easily overcame. Certainly too, any segment with a Frankers intro, Tom’s appearance, Dean’s Heaps, and Bunny’s contributions is bound to be a crowd pleaser! Cheers to all…..
It was cool that Chrysler had a step bore on those wheel cylinders. Good that the parts cleaned up nicely, those wheel bearings where top quality Canadian or US made . Chicago Rawhide ( CR ) seals where REAL rawhide. The Volvo is a nice car.
i like the subtle pinstriping on the wheels of the gray Chrysler (@1:05) seems to have been a thing between the hubcaps and a beauty rings (if present) on a number of thirties and forties cars.
I'm convinced that is the OEM grease in the Chryslers wheel bearing hubs. Never seen so crystallized grease before. I was wondering if this thing has been converted to newer style shock absorbers or its hade telescope absorbers from the factory? Dean has a yellowish 57 Plymouth, now that is a car that gets my attention immediately. Even if it has very little floor boards left that is a vehicle you can't get that easy. There is a new trend of finding the rustiest mopar and body swapping the shell into something else. The 1960 Fury splice would be a master piece of art. Compared in what kind of butchery people engage these days into. Your Volvo has now all the major things done. Even the old brakes where not too terrible. I have seen worst brake discs in my practice. Cheers to you, Bunny and Frankers.
Yes I've been watching one where the fellow has taken a ratty '58 Plymouth and adapting the body to a '89 Caprice wagon undercarriage and drive train,I had my doubts but he's slowly making it go together,he and Scott need to get together and compare notes on splicing cars together 😂
Happy Birthday, Dean! You're giving someone else a present with the Dodge twofer deal! Watching the Greasy Flips flyover always makes me fantasize about coming out and taking some of those fine examples of Exner wretched excess off your hands! Scott - thanks, and all the best to you, HB, Menace and the Agents...see you next week!
Back when I was a kid in the early 1960's an aunt had a 1947 Plymouth tudor sedan. I used to think it was kinda neat because it was so unusual to see one on the road even then.
Another great video! That 38 Chrysler is amazing. I did not even know that grease could do that ! The Volvo has turned out much too nice to be a winter beater. Dean's Plodge and Dodge look to be both doable. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAN 🎂 🥳 🎉 🎈 🎁 🎊! Always a treat to see the lovely Honey Bunny. Frankers is still the star of the show. Cheers, all!
That Volvo is really looking like a long-term keeper that would be a delight to take a road trip in. And with Dan's 38 Imperial and Dean's Dodge & Plodge (which I really hope that someone could save), what a pity that Walter P. Chrysler left this planet in 1940. He could have taken great pride in seeing this old Mopar iron still with us.
Great show this week! It's nice to see Dean branching out into the early classics. Those Dodge parts cars are sure to attract more high end clientele to fliptown...instead of the usual demolition derby crowd.
All the fun of auto work, and I'm not tired at all. Usually it's 3-4 guys watching the one with grease caked hands do all the hard stuff while 1 handy person actually helps by grabbing tools and, or the new parts to be used. You get 67+ Thousand watching. At least they're not drinking Your beers and waiting for the joint to be passed their way. ;) Cheers Everyone!! (BTW, I've mentioned the sight in a few vids I've watched, and mentioned Miles wanting to sell his Pontiac too. If he lists it on Facebook Market Place, it may end up going multinational)
if the tire and wheel are reattached after the wheel bearing has been removed the amount of leverage that can be applied by an adult male is usually enough to pull a stubborn brake drum off (assuming the brake shoes have been backed off sufficiently).
The Chrysler continues to amaze! She is a beauty Dan. The gen and regulator was a nice find. Hope it works for you! The 411 is looking better every week. The Volvo is really shaping up. Good time on that timing belt! Dean's flips always entertaining! Thank you everyone for sharing!!!
I don't know about Canada, but here in the states, you couldn't get a new car in 45, 46 and 47 to save your life. There were massive shortages. The automobile manufacturers association even made propaganda films in 47 about how hard they are trying to get parts, how they were cutting up scrap pieces from the stamping machines to make smaller parts. You can view them on youtube. So if that is a 46, it's likely a pretty rare car.
As I recall, it wasn't so much of a problem with shortages because the auto manufacturers didn't desire to build cars. The problem was that all the machinery had been converted over for war manufacturing and it took quite a bit of time to convert back. The other part of the deal was that none of the big three wanted to build the same models that they had put out before the war. There was a delay to get the new models fully designed, the tooling built, the prototypes made and ultimately the new models to start flowing down the production lines. The war really screwed things up with the allies... and around the world. The loss of life was horrific and that was bad enough. Then you had to look at the sacrifices made by the populace in general to help win the war. Going without was very common!

@@possumwerx There is a video by the Automobile manufacturers association on here that explains it. It was shortages, at least according to them. Most car manufacturing in America involves a lot of vendors. The Rouge was a major exception to a large degree, but it was the exception.
Dan's Imperial is a beautiful car. Many years ago I was driving a '41 Plymouth. It had the same wheel cylinders as the Chrysler but in the 1980s parts were hard to get. I did get lucky- the Sohio gas station up the road had a puller for the back drums. My Motor's manual helped get the repairs done right. Chrysler products were very well designed.
Well Scott, when you metal repair, it is the HILIGHT OF THE VIDEO!! Yes, all content is great, but that part is #1. Glad to see all the "doins" and that your buds are happy. Happy Holidays to all! Rich

Can’t believe I got excited over Deans dodges. Can’t believe that there aren’t more old Chryslers and dodges with there independent fronts with juice brakes. Who would want a ford. Cheers
Happy Birthday ,Dean! I always enjoy the greasy flips! Very entertaining! Volvo is looking good. Still amazed of the metal work you do on these old cars. I didn’t know it was Dean’s birthday. Happy birthday Dean… I’ve done that job before on a station wagon version of that car. It was actually kind of fun as you’re about to see.
Haven't commented in a while, but when you mentioned mail it reminds me I sent you something 4 years ago, good copies of car ads from the teens and 20s, if not it's something I can send again, I'm happy to say I've got everything I've ordered, calendars and shirts, still the best show on

Hey thanks so much Paul! Very kind of you to say... I'll keep at it if anyone wants to see!
