Hi guys! Thanks for tuning in... This week we are back on the 1967 Datsun 411 to finish the bodywork and primer so we can get some colour on the insides! Hi Scott, have you ever used white primer on a car? My 1963 Savoy is still painted in white primer with clear over that. It is time to redo it though. It has been like that for 12 years now.
@ Comparatively very little. It’s mainly too cold for salt to work, so they use sand, grit, and gravel much more. That’s why there are still so many 1970s and earlier cars on the road on the Prairies, or in good enough condition to bother restoring them. CWM’s secret weapon! Those cars have all melted away back East, or else they are garage queens. In western Canada, unless they are precious, we just drive ‘em.
Hi there! My vote is Myles keeps using the Newport as winter beater and keep the Monaco away from the road salt. It's too nice! Datsun is gonna look sharp! Stay safe, well and warm!
" Paralyzed by the complexity " has to be the most stoner phrase i've heard in a while Scott. It was nice to see the all hands effort to get Ashley's Datsun in paint. Thanks again and Best Wishes to everyone at Cold War Motors, their Families and Friends. #Newport #Monoco #Myles
WOW. Miles' Monaco is far too nice to be a winter beater. When I was a teen, we had a 67 Polara wagon with the same 15 inch rims and dog dishes! We lived in Michigan yet the wagon was built in Canada, doubtless on the same line as Miles' Monaco. But because it was a wagon, it came standard with a 383 two barrel. It was a nice car.
That's a nice color on the Datsun. That Monaco is to nice for a winter beater ! Myles needs to keep the Newport. everyone would miss that exhaust note ! 😊
Those thumb wheel controls have me pining for Mom's brand new forrest green '68 Charger. That car was so swoopy, it made the tires look square. And it had a map light!
Seeing Myles's new Monaco really brings back memories. In 1981 i bought a 67 Monaco 500 2 door from the original owner who drove the car back to Edmonton from the factory in Windsor. Blew up the transmission a couple of years later, and like a dumb 19 year old I scrapped it and bought the worlds sketchiest 1970 Satellite 4 door with a 440. I would almost give body parts to find another Monaco 500 in the shape mine was.
Another great week! Good ol’ Tom with his stand up comedy, lotsa great body prep and painting on the Dad-Son , and the impressive debut of Myles outstanding Monaco! See ya on Thursday for updates!
Man.... Myles sure knows how to pick 'em! Now we gotta find him a dark grey twill suit ... 70's era and film a clip with the old camera - go full grainy-view, and make him an absolute throwback legend.
The "agency" look is mesmeric on that Monaco. What if it had a stroked 383 under the hood with a 6 speed transmission, new suspension, noise deadening, customized interior, LSD, etc.
Another great show! I love that Datsun blue! Myles needs to keep the Newport! It has so much character (and chop!)! That Monaco is GORGEOUS! What colours! Here's to the patient wives!
That one is far too nice to be a beater. I like the big gauge pods on them. My Sister had a 67 Polara 2 door with a console. She got it from a friend really cheap and drove it for years pretty much trouble free.
Scott, "seven coats on the rockers and I'm so low I'll never get up again" should be the CWMs theme song! Super Happy New Year to you, Bunny, Frankers (who really likes plastic bottles), Myles, Ash and of course Dean + Tom also too all the agents past and present! Mega Cheers for helping castaways live on! Datsuns rule!
Great work on the '67 Datsun! I'm especially fond of this project because we had three (3) 1967 RL411 SSS cars in our family -- one red and two white! All were automatics but they were still pretty quick. My dad had one, my grandmother had one, and my aunt had one. This is one of the perks when your family (grandfather, father, and uncle) own a Datsun dealership!
Another good tune for body and paint exercises ... "I Get Up, I Get Down" Yes (1972 ... a VERY good year) The Datsun is looking sweet. That is going to be really eye catching. And where in heck does Myles find those cool old Mopars is such good shape??
The Datsun is gonna be a stunner! I love the color. I grew up driving Chrysler products, a 66 New Yorker in Sea Mist green with a 440. So Myles new Winter Beater curled my toes! Happy New Year!
Dear agent Myles. 👍👌👏 Oh WOW, what a simply fantastic looking Monaco you purchased. Congratulations! 🎉 To me the car seems in a way too good condition to be used respectively used up as a winter beater. But of course it's your decision. I nevertheless hope that you keep the ol' reliable winter beater fun car Newport. It's more rowdy than the decent Monaco, just perfect for the rowdy respectively harsh winter conditions. I would nevertheless love to see you doing a kind of rolling restoration on the Chrysler. Just to close all the rust holes in the body. Thanks in advance for consideration. Best regards, luck and health in particular.
Thanx for another fun video, Scott. The Datsun is coming along great and at light speed! I don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but the 411 is known as the Bluebird in the JDM. Don't dump the Newport! Myles' new Monaco looks WAY too nice to be a winter beater. I'd hate to see it gradually rust away. MoPars from the 1970's are expendable. BTW, on numerous occasions Jay Leno has said that he regards 1967 as the high point for U.S. branded cars, too. Stay warm, guys!
Those body lines on the Datsun are super sharp. That was well worth the time and effort to get it all right. Myles' Monaco is almost too good to be a winter beater. Such a nice ride and colour combination. Hahaha, I have one of those electric car heaters in my Case 1070 for blowing snow in the winter. Stay warm folks!
This reminds me of all the fun I had building cars for my friends. Too bad they didn't have time to pick up some sand paper and I ended up doing all the work myself. However I did enjoy the work even if I had to talk to myself to make sure my voice was still working. So many hours and I would do it all over again. But there was one golden rule. Only one free car rebuild per friend.
Wow. in 1982 I wound up with a 1968 Newport myself, but the 4 door pillared sedan base custom with the 383, 2 BBL. To this day, I still dream of it every now and then, some 40 years on...
Wow the Datsun is looking great ,You will have to get the Newport from Myles if you ever want to win the winter beater contest. Love the Monaco,so sweet! thanks for another great video. Looking forward to all the upcoming projects. Have a great week and I'll see you on Thursday:)
Love the colour on Ash's Datsun. Has that sweet '60's vibe. Myles new Monaco looks fantastic! Really hope he isn't going to let it deteriorate by driving it in the salt. The Newport is fine for that job and has the rust to prove it!
Love that vintage Datsun and the spiffy job you're all doing prepping and painting. It is well rounded with body style. Finally, January is here and I can look up from my internet device and behold the back end of the '59 Plymouth Fury. Great job, gentlemen.
As to Myles selling the ‘Port my first reaction was a hard No. but then the PolyCo came into being. To everything there is a season. Cheers from Alabama. 🎉
I love how you have friends that come out to help. What comes around goes around….not their project this month, but they will have a project in the future. Something tells me, they would be there helping regardless! 👍💪
I love Myles new winter beater. When I was 12 years old dad bought mom her first car and she got her drivers license at 42 years old so that she could drive me to junior high school. It was a maroon 1967 Dodge Polara 4 door 383 2bbl with add on a/c. I got to start driving the back roads at 12 years old. I wasn't tall enough to see over the steering wheel too well so I sat on one leg. The car was only 8 years old when they bought it for $495. The power brakes would throw you through the windshield and the power steering was so good you could steer with one finger and still never feel the road. Mom's favorite part of the car was the bow tie taillights. I guess if a Volvo had to lose winter beater challenge it's not at all embarrassing to lose to a Dodge Monaco. You should buy Myles Newport and put that engine in the 72 Fury station wagon. The sound of the Cam in that wagon would be worth the effort. Then use the drivetrain out of your Newport for that 58 Plymounth you were just talking about last video.
Unbloodybelievable what has been done to the Datsun in such a short time period, brilliant. Myles better not let the Monaco rot away from salt, it's to good.
I think you, Bunny, and the Agents are keeping Tom young. I love Myles new winter beater. You seldom see them that nice in the south, usually destroyed by the sun. Can’t wait to see the Datsun finished. The wife’s are very patient but they can see what they have been up to. Best to all the agents, you, Bunny, and Frankers. See you Thursday.
Dodge Monaco is disqualified as a beater...lol. Thats a sweet ride ! Sounds fantastic.. The 318 is an anvil . They made millions of them. Im a fan.. The Datsun turned out awesome. All good things at CWM. Scott you're a true master...
I vote Myles keeps the New Port and not winter drive the Monaco unless the underside gets hosed down real good with fluid film. That blue on Ashley’s Datsun is really nice too. Cheers guys!
👍👌👏 You're spot on, Scott. I also say that Myles should keep the great sounding Port. I would like to see a rolling restoration. I guess that this great winter beater doesn't need much. But of course should Myles do what's best for him.
Almost made it with the Datsun and it is looking great! Myles's new Monaco is a sweet machine! Happy New Year everybody! Thanks for sharing everyone!!!!
*Infectious enthusiasm* Whether it's Frankers and her boundless energy, the guys attacking Ashe's ricer project or congrating Myles on his latest AMAZING c-body, it's all positivity and good cheer at CWM. That's the main reason I've supported Scott's efforts on this channel all these many years now; it does the heart some good to watch the antics CWM Northern Command! Now, a bit of serious business - *Myles* my Mopar bud - KEEP the dang Newport! What, are you kidding? No-brainer. You got a lot of skin in the game there and she's majestic. Everyone stay warm and safe and God willing, we'll see you next episode! - Ed on the Ridge
Cheers Ed! Thanks as always for all of the support and encouragement for so many years now... Glad to hear you are still enjoying the time we get to spend together every week... All the very best as always from everyone here in 2025!
I'm afraid You're correct about the winter beater challenge winner. Your Volvo turned out amazing, but that Monaco is above grade. I can't wait to see it in the daylight. Miles' Newport definitely needs to hang around, just for the sound alone as you said there at the end. Great episode!
5:52 - I could hear Ash's voice clear as day while you were fitting the hood. Imagine if you didn't tell your audience that he was going to go inside the engine compartment, and once you finished fitting the hood, you lifted the hood, and Ash would've popped up unexpectedly. 😅
I have to say, Myles exploits have made me appreciate c bodies more and more. I hope the Monaco is well undercoated. If he sells the Newport, my first comment for any episode might be "where's the chop"?
I agree with lots of folks on here that the Monaco is too nice to be a winter beater - its a survivor, not a beater - the Newport, now that's a beater! Cheers!
Pretty hard to call that Monaco a beater. It's beautiful. Congrats, Myles. The Datsun is going to look fantastic in that blue. Another great show, Happy New Year to you all.
Perfect colour for the Datsun. Just beautiful! And thanks to the super-careful preparation, it will look wonderful for a long, long time. Love, love, LOVE the '67 Monaco! It's in such good shape. How could you turn down something that good? The few things it needs are (relatively) easy fixes. A classic example of how 1967 was probably the last decent year for styling for North American cars.
One of the nicest winter beaters I've seen on this show. Monacos are pretty sweet, especially from that time period. The Datsun is gonna look awesome when it's done. Happy New Year to all the agents! Cheers!
Thanks for another great episode! That Monaco is sweet... Love the Datsun baby blue! Fantastic... Quite an exiting time over in our garage also! Wife has been sorting out the 404 seats as she is doing a trimmer course. My friend Chris bought a 1966 Sunbeam Tiger! Interesting test drive on icy roads and spongy brakes........... Anyhow all the best from me and Indy
Such a joyful New Year’s greeting to hear Dean’s laughter with Scott getting him to confess to his latest acquisition, a ‘74 Marquis which will hopefully be featured in an upcoming Greasy Flips. Also on acquisitions, Myles’ won the prize with the ‘67 Monaco that’s the stuff of dreams and a car which doesn’t warrant the ‘winter beater’ role but instead deserves isolation from that season’s extreme elements which it apparently it’s had. I vote for him to keep the able Port for his frigid rides. Also enjoyed that -20 degree run in the car which offered a detailed review of the car’s many features (map lights!) as well as fun chatter between Dean, Myles, & Scott. Thanks, gents!
I wish I was in group of friends with you because of all the cool old cars you have but I’m not. Love the paint and body you do and what a 0:02 beautiful thing it is.

20 seconds in and PMSL, just as well The Foreman showed up to keep an eye on you and Dean! HNY to you and all the Agents!!
That Monaco is way too nice to be pressed into winter beater duty. Put it in dry storage and preserve it by finding a real winter beater!
And it sounds gorgeous
Agreed 💯
Naah. Drive it! It’s Alberta, not Montreal.

it doesn't matter that it's a 4 Door Sedan, that '67 Monaco is a beautiful car.

I love Myles 67. I had a 67 Dodge Polara convertible that was a beauty. Wish I still had it. Great episode.
Thank you to the patient wives! I hope Myles keeps the Newport (Plug the holes in the quarters for warmth!) and the Monaco!
Massive respect for running that Monaco in winter weather! You know when it's really COLD when the snow sounds all crispy when you roll out on it.
More like crunchy
You know it's cold when it sqeeks when you walk on it

Great work guys. Miles should keep the Newport. He did such a great job porting the heads on that, sounds fantastic.
Myle's new car looks way too nice for a winter beater. The Datsun is such a typical 1960s Japanese color, I like it a lot.
8:05 - Ha ha! Scott makes masking look so easy, that when others try to mask, who don't mask often, they look like they are "all thumbs."😂
Myles got a heck of a new winter Beater,, I always love them.
I like the blue Ash.. Miles come on!! I was almost blinded by the reflection off your "Winter beater" paint job. ;-)

I'm afraid You're correct about the winter beater challenge winner. Your Volvo turned out amazing, but that Monaco is above grade. I can't wait to see it in the daylight. Miles' Newport definitely needs to hang around, just for the sound alone as you said there at the end. Great episode!
Hi Scott and ageants!!! Miles, I love your winter beater!!! Its beautiful!!!!
That is a good winter beater ❤
Too good!
5:52 - I could hear Ash's voice clear as day while you were fitting the hood. Imagine if you didn't tell your audience that he was going to go inside the engine compartment, and once you finished fitting the hood, you lifted the hood, and Ash would've popped up unexpectedly. 😅
All the best for the New year! Datsun looking good, and loving Myles' new Monaco. He needs to keep the 'port though. Cheers again Scott.
I live in the nice warm desert but grew up in Minnesota and Sodak and man, the sound of car tires on very, very cold snow still makes me shiver.
Thanks to all of you for the video.
I have a close friend with a '59 LeSabre hardtop coupe with the official color Lido Lavender.
Great color choice Ash .. love it ! 🌹
One of the nicest winter beaters I've seen on this show. Monacos are pretty sweet, especially from that time period. The Datsun is gonna look awesome when it's done. Happy New Year to all the agents! Cheers!
The Datsun is looking awesome! Please keep the Newport I would miss the beautiful music coming from the back of that car.
Thanks!
Hey thanks so much, man! Very much appreciate all of the generosity to the ol' show here... All the very best you in 25 from everyone here!
Keep the Newport
Love the Monaco 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks for another great episode! That Monaco is sweet... Love the Datsun baby blue! Fantastic... Quite an exiting time over in our garage also! Wife has been sorting out the 404 seats as she is doing a trimmer course. My friend Chris bought a 1966 Sunbeam Tiger! Interesting test drive on icy roads and spongy brakes........... Anyhow all the best from me and Indy
That Monaco is mint!
53:30--Myles telling ghost stories behind the steering wheel! Dean supplying the audience interaction!😆
Myles’ Monaco is insane! Hope the painting’s going well - looking forward to watching more splashy-poo! Cheers…see you next week!
Turned out great! Cheers from here!
The Datsun looks great ! 👍🥶
That is a damn fine Monaco! Love the tail lights.. I think he won the Winter Beater award.
Love the Monaco but I love the Newport too, fuselage Mopars may be the best cars made. Keep 'er!
That Monaco is pretty nice ,
Well ALL RIGHT - It's Scotterday!
I wish I was in group of friends with you because of all the cool old cars you have but I’m not. Love the paint and body you do and what a 0:02 beautiful thing it is.
The Vale of Stephen came out quite nicely
