If I were looking at this on Ebay (to buy it unseen in person), I would have asked some questions, and the answers might be able to be used in a claim as well.
Ebay won't do anything about it unless you didn't get the title. If the car is older than 10 yrs old it won't be covered by there protection they offer. I bought an 1981 corvette off ebay and was scammed by the seller and the shipper and received zero support from ebay. Never buy a car from off ebay unless you know and trust the seller and if you do get insurance on the car before its shipped. The shipper broke the T-tops when shipping and weren't on the car when I received it. He admitted to breaking them and wouldn't do anything about it so I contacted his insurance company and they wouldn't do anything about it either because it was a loss of under $2500.00. The seller was from NC and shipped to Florida.
What's he expecting for $3600 ? That's a parts car he could recover( maybe ) half his money on. A fairly nice 72 Vette ( depending on options) could sell for $25g - $35g. He can't blame anyone but himself .

I saw that car on eBay...The rear jacked up like that looked shady... Chrome bumper C3 '72 Stingray for under 4 grand ?...Too good to be true...Vettes are tricky...
This car looks like it was found at the bottom of a river. A few years in the mud submerged would explain the severe rust. The motor was just something the previous owner had laying around and just threw it in the engine bay. If he paid me $4000 to take it I would not have taken it because of all the work involved to salvage any of the few good parts.
Just checked, he has two corvettes listed on ebay right now ! Did a little digging, looks like the car was done at Auto Club Body & paint service, 4101 E 11th Ave Hialeah, FL 33013, other cars he is selling on ebay right now have that location in the back ground.
How is it possible that this abomination was produced at a body shop? I have zero experience with car bodywork but I'm pretty sure I could do a better job than was done on this vehicle.
Just when I was feeling a little down about needing to do head gaskets and transmission bearings on a 1980 I just bought, a video like this drops and makes me feel like I made out like a bandit.

I shop on Flea-bay quite often mainly for electronic parts. I would rate 99% of the sellers as being honest. I am aware of the "tricks" they pull, such as; selling a $25 transistor for $5, but charging you $20 for USPS shipping. I realize there is NO law against that, but I would NEVER buy anything from someone that pulls that kind of shit!!!!!
That Really Sucks!! I recently bought a 1965 corvette coupe from a gentleman in Waco Texas and he was the most honest respectable man. Owned it since 1977 and was as truthful sending a title to me before dropping a dollar on the car. And what a great car I received. Better wishes for you.
I purchased a 1986 C-4 for 10 grand online and it turned out to be the best buy of my life. 39K original miles when it was delivered I took it to my mechanic and he checked it out for 2 weeks and could not find anything wrong with it. Drives like a dream and everything works even the cigarette lighter
The C4s were produced in such high numbers that dealers had to have "fire sales" to get rid of them. They had the highest depreciation of any Corvette!

I found this corvette on Ebay under sold and completed listings. The listing say's need complete restoration. Ben has no recourse since it was listed as needing complete restoration. It was pretty low down what the seller did, but he covered his ass by the words he chose in the listing.
Wow, they completely scammed you! That happened to me on a Muncie transmission that was supposedly rebuilt. Turned out to have a broken case, broken gears, etc. It cost me 1k and it is totally unsalvageable. There are some really unscrupulous people out there. Totally sad.
That's not a car. It's not even a mockup of a car. It's a third graders construction project. Scrap that thing and let that seller know that they are thieves.
Yup, you got shafted. That's why you should always go see it before you buy it. Was the guy a thief? Yes, but you didn't go see it and $3600 is dirt cheap for an early, chrome bumper C3. Hopefully, it came with a title. Buy an aftermarket frame (better than factory), get an aftermarket front and rear body, bird cage and piece together a very cool custom restomod version of a chrome bumper car.
I don’t know what you’re complaining about 3600 is an excellent price for the car if you wanted an excellent car you’re looking at probably 20 grand. I have a 77 that’s an excellent shake. I’ll sell it for 20 grand. I’ve had it for 44 years but you pay for what you get, stop complaining

I bought a C6 Vette, in 2006. It was an 05. It had 10k miles on the clock, all the options that I wanted. A convertible, machine silver, grey top and grey interior. I did the carfax before buying, and had the car checked out by an eBay recommended service. The mechanics report came back almost perfect, no mechanical issues, never wrecked. Carfax too, came back clean, and with a money back guarantee that it’s never been wrecked of flooded. I bought the car. After almost 20 years of ownership, I can say, with almost certainty, if not wrecked, it’s been hit hard, probably rear ended. My corvette looks and drives fine, I thought seriously about that money back guarantee, but decided against it. I figured the car was once a rental, hence the high miles, wrecked, it was put back together by hertz or enterprise or whatever big rental company at their in house shop, so it never had to be reported to carfax. I still love my Vette, and I’ll leave it to my kids when I finally take to he big highway in the sky.
I would guess there is more than 3600 dollars in labor alone, tossing all of that crap together into a rolling pile. You came out ahead! What a pile, omg!
I remember back in my Auto glass days, removing a windshield on a 70's Corvette. The whole driver's side pillar came off🤣. The owner got mad a me! He said that shouldn't have happen since Corvettes are made of fiberglass. The guy never paid me for removing it, which made me mad! Had to eat the cost and time. I'll never touch a Vette again.
Obviously that Vette had been wrecked and repaired incorrectly. I'm pretty sure most glass places do Vettes all the time with no problem. That Vette owner probably unknowingly bought a piece of junk.
5 years ago, I bought a 1974 corvette from a local vintage corvette dealer for $4k, it ran, needed brakes, the interior was TOTAL crap and I had to redo all of it, the engine was not original, it was just a random corvette that was thrown in on a deal the dealer got with a few other corvettes, he didn’t want it and if I didn’t buy it he was going to part it out….but I was pleasantly surprised when I found it had a 100% rust free frame & bird cage, no accidents and when I opened up the top end of the engine it was clean enough to eat off of and was actually out of a 76 corvette. I restomodded it and take it to shows now…I did any and all work myself, pretty good for a 58 year old housewife! But dude, so sorry this one was such a piece of crap that you got stuck with!
This is totally amazing !!!!! This car’s purpose was to completely defraud somebody ! I would start a case with eBay but bottom line ( with 100% due respect ). You asked for it !
Yeah true, it was his responsibility to go look at it in person, and the seller did exactly what he intended to do with no consequences. The problem is that the seller will only be encouraged to keep doing this.
I instantly recognized the ebay pics.... I've seen this guy's ads for a while and almost bid on some cars he's advertised. He's obviously pretty crafty with a camera, but pretty sorry as a human; this WILL be great YT content tho! I'm gonna share it with my vette buddies right now! Terrible car and seller, great video, Ben! A+++++
Lots of scammers out there, and not just eBay. Craig's list, FB Market Place, etc. I buy old watches on eBay. I found a watch on eBay that looked interesting, but there were no pics of the movement. I asked the seller to send a pic and they replied that the watch was already boxed up for shipping (before it sold). I asked if it ran and the seller replied, "Run? No it just sit on the table and doesn't move." Needless to say I didn't bid.
I always think, buying the best car you can afford is better than a Fixeruper. I bought a 1975 convertible L82 4speed I still spent 4000 to rebuild the transmission and I have to fix the roof release spring. But It is a great car shiny and no rust of any kind and everything works including the clock. Spend more and save yourself a ton of expenses.
I would love for you to do a video on filing a claim with eBay. I’ve often wondered just what’s involved and whether they would make good on such a piece of crap like this.
This car and the fact that you bought it, is hilarious. You know Cletus “The Slack-jawed Yokel” from The Simpsons….? I can just picture two of them slapping this thing together in a filthy garage over a couple days.
The pictures alone show the problems. Hood out of alignment, doors out of alignment. Rear bumpers out of alignment…paint is bad Not original glass….buyer beware….GREAT CONTENT FOR A YOU TUBE CHANNEL
That is unbelievable Ben. The person that sold the car knew exactly what they were doing and for the reason I suggest call them out on your part 2 Video.
I would go to Ebay and claim fraud. This isn't a 1972 Corvette at all - it is a cobbled together collection of parts that resemble a car, but it is not a car. It has never been driven or used in anything like this current makeup.
It's not worth suing over, but the seller deserves it. It's not even a Corvette: it's a pile of Corvette parts glued & screwed together. Just putting a few Corvette badges on a pile of rust and 'glas doesn't mean that it's a Corvette. Sorry you got taken by that seller. That sucks. Just like it sucks that they created that Zombie 'Vette. No car deserves that.

This is why I buy my toys locally where I can see them in person. My mustang and my bike were both found on marketplace within 20 minutes of home. I wish you luck recovering your money on this deal
They put an incredible amount of work into building that. It's not like the seller made money after all the time and effort they spent cobbling it together. It's like they did it out of enjoyment knowing they were screwing someone.
Sorry to hear you got screwed but I wouldnt scrap it. Lots of folks would prob buy it as a shop sign, lawn/roof ornament, or to build a derby, lemons, rally car, or mini monster truck.
Sorry to hear that this EBay seller shafted you so hard. I've been following the seller for awhile and have read stories on Corvette forums about him and the junk he sells. It shocks me that he can get away with it for this long, and EBay allows it. To me, it goes beyond "buyer beware" to straight up misrepresentation and putting people's lives in danger. So, thanks for sharing your story and hopefully a potential buyer will find this before bidding.
I'll bet the wrecker drivers had parts falling off onto the highway, just from the wind. Regardless of how well secured they had it. Must have been waiting to see the look on the guy's face at delivery since they had an advanced look at the car, lol.
It looks like they did the bodywork with a dremel. Like Shorty said; "If you're not careful, you will make it look like a sack of potatoes". That would be putting it nicely... That's the worst car I've ever seen...

If I were looking at this on Ebay (to buy it unseen in person), I would have asked some questions, and the answers might be able to be used in a claim as well.
If you think eBay is going to do anything about it, you don't know anything about eBay..

Porque es mentira!!! Él lo hizo para ganar dinero con las visitas.
obviously 100% deliberate, you have a strong case if you decide to take action with the authorities, it's across state lines, and eBay.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh yeah. The "authorities" are gonna hop right on this. They'll almost certainly set up a multijurisdictional task force.
What's he expecting for $3600 ? That's a parts car he could recover( maybe ) half his money on.
A fairly nice 72 Vette ( depending on options) could sell for
$25g - $35g.

Go hire an attorney. He'll hit you for a lot more than 3500 and you will get as good a deal as you got on the car

Gives a heads up for other potential buyers who are looking on Facebook Marketplace and happen to view vehicles from this establishment.
$3600 wouldn't even buy a Yugo.😆
How is it possible that this abomination was produced at a body shop? I have zero experience with car bodywork but I'm pretty sure I could do a better job than was done on this vehicle.
That the car was done at a body shop in Hialeah should tell you everything you need to know.
You paid $3,600 for a corvette emblem, and some rally rims .

Did this guy go to a corvette restorer and build one out of the scrap bin parts?
Those parts weren't even good enough to be scrap. :-)

A kid or a meth addict.
The answer is simple…. To make a buck
I wonder if this buyer checked the feedback, usually a clue of a seller.
The C4s were produced in such high numbers that dealers had to have "fire sales" to get rid of them. They had the highest depreciation of any Corvette!

I found it after reading your comment. One of the highlights from his description is "Car rolls and steers".
@@jewelswinfield So, the seller DID honestly describe the condition of the vehicle. Case CLOSED!

That sell was an intentional ripoff. Shame on that seller!
That owner was an asshat. Don't let a mfr like that discourage you ever my friend,
Obviously that Vette had been wrecked and repaired incorrectly.

They put an incredible amount of work into building that. It's not like the seller made money after all the time and effort they spent cobbling it together. It's like they did it out of enjoyment knowing they were screwing someone.
It almost seems like they were trying to make 3D Art, instead of a drivable car

Sorry to hear that this EBay seller shafted you so hard. I've been following the seller for awhile and have read stories on Corvette forums about him and the junk he sells. It shocks me that he can get away with it for this long, and EBay allows it. To me, it goes beyond "buyer beware" to straight up misrepresentation and putting people's lives in danger. So, thanks for sharing your story and hopefully a potential buyer will find this before bidding.
